"I wonder what future us is doing right now…" Trunks stared at Goten as he swung from the tree branch over him.
"Goten… you're lucky you're a good fighter." The boys were hanging out outside, cooling off from the heat waves that had been hitting the city that week. Neither one of them wanted to do anything but hide under the shade and enjoy cold drinks. Their mini vacation from school was just about over so that meant that the full days of training with Vegeta would have to be cut shorter.
"Trunks." Trunks looked up at his friend who now seemed to be looking a little more serious. "When do you think I'll get to see my dad again?" How could he answer? Realistically speaking, maybe not for another five years, but thats not something you tell your best friend. Although, Goku had always been very adventurous and if he had the chance to leave, he would. Of course he thought Goku was great but the abandonment… his family should have been more important. As mean as Vegeta could be, at least he was always around.
"I don't know, buddy. Maybe soon. Your birthday's coming up! I'm sure he won't forget!" He knew that by the small size of Goten's smile, that he didn't believe that. Somewhere deep inside both of them, they knew Goku would probably be even further than he was now and by that, he wouldn't be available for Goten's birthday. "When's Gohan coming around?" he said quickly to change the subject.
Goten pushed himself off the branch, flipping over and landing next to his friend. "Gohan? He's a little busy with Pan now that she's walking all over the place. Sometimes Videl drops her off so Mom can watch her but, I have a feeling about her. Trouble-Maker." The girl was part saiyan, there was a chance she'd be just as wild as they all were. They were sure that the little one that was due soon would be too.
Bulma stepped out, wide as could be, waddling over to the boys with more cold drinks at hand. Every time she saw these two together, she was glad to see that her kind and social genes passed over to her wonderful son, who happened to become best friends with her old best friend's kid. Even the future version of her son was such a great kid.
"Mom, can you… you're scaring me right now." Bulma snapped out of her current thought and realized she had started to cry without noticing. The closer she got to delivering her kid, the more hormonal she got. Just last night she had a yelling fit with her husband who wasn't competing back with her. He allowed her to yell at him for forgetting to put the seat down, for not getting her exact order at the sandwich shop, and maybe even for breathing a little too loudly when she was trying to sleep. He even stayed in the room with her when she started to cry when she tried apologizing for yelling at him. She was a little insane but in just a few days, it would all be over. She wiped her tears and started laughing, putting the boys in an even more uncomfortable situation.
"Your dad will be home soon. You two better get in the last few minutes you have to relax before you spend the next four hours in a compression room fighting!" The boys looked at each other and as much as they liked training just as the next saiyan fighter, being lazy sounded so much better than fighting in that hot box.
"Nuh-huh. Don't think about it mister." Bulma wagged her finger in front of Trunks. "Usually I'd turn the other cheek and let you two fly off but, your dad has been finally becoming more bearable and you running off will probably set him back." Trunks, who hardly ever defied his mom, started imagining what it would be like if he and Goten just flew over right now and jumped in the lake.
"We won't," they said in unison. They knew how scary Vegeta was; one time before, they decided to ditch training to find Piccolo and bother him for a few things. Vegeta showed up and dragged them back, while Trunks nervously stared over at his father's forehead vein.
"Well Goten, get ready to get your butt kicked!"
Later
I hope she's smart like me… Oh my god! i'll finally have someone to share blueprints with! Don't get too excited, don't get too excited. Bulma splashed some more water over her tummy with one hand and with the other, reading through journals of mechanical ideas. Come out now! I have so much to show you!
KNOCK! KNOCK!
"Who is it?" Bulma put down the journal on the stand next to the tub and waited for an answer. Instead, her husband emerged from the other side and sat on the counter, waiting for his wife to say something. "Well, fancy seeing you here hubby." She rolled her eyes and began to slip lower in the bubble infested hot water.
"I can sense it." Only her eyes moved over to look at him while her eyebrows furrowed. "The girl. I can sense her from all the way out there. She's getting strong. This one isn't going to be so easy to get out." Again, she rolled her eyes. Did he think the first one was easy peasy? Trunks nearly left her with no means of ever walking ever again.
"You need to have her soon." Thats the plan. "I mean it, woman." Pushing her head up, she blew out the bubbles that stuck to her mouth. "What do you want me to do, Vegeta? Grab a knife and cut her out?"
"No, but I-"
"This doesn't have an off and on switch."
"No, but I-"
"I can't tell it to come out because daddy senses some awesome strength and wants to train this baby from the day she's born."
"NO, BUT I-"
"So theres not much I can-"
"SHUT UP, WOMAN! I HAVE A PLAN!" Bulma stopped, even her mind was wiped of any thought. If he was being serious then she would listen. She sat up and waited for her husband to talk. But something had changed. His body language was different; he didn't even make eye contact with her. She watched him like a hawk. Vegeta began to undress and then it became clear that something was about to happen.
"Your mother came in the room the other day, after I finished training." Uh huh… "She handed me a book." Bulma's curiosity couldn't have been bigger. "I skimmed through it." Of course. She rolled her eyes; why did she think he would've read it like a normal person? "I raised a son, I don't need a book telling me how to raise another." As Vegeta sat in the tub, the water began to overflow.
"I read something interesting."
Oh boy, here we go again.
"About getting that thing out." Being that the last time when she was pregnant, Bulma was alone. She didn't really have help aside from the help her parents and Yamcha gave her.
"How?" She felt his grip get tighter on her ankles. He began to pull her down slowly, causing Bulma to get up from her elbows and hold herself up with her hands. "What are you doing Vegeta?" He rolled his eyes before pulling her quickly into his arms.
"We're getting that baby out of there the same way we made it! I can't handle pregnant Bulma anymore!" She seemed to be enjoying his kiss and as much as he liked feeling his wife up, the baby was doing that thing again where she moved to wherever she felt her father, trying to bond.
Don't tense up, get that baby out. Just keep going. Don't think about the baby, get it out!
As much as he was enjoying seeing his wife naked and how good she felt, he couldnt stop thinking about his unborn child. What if she was just like his wife? What if she was sassy and rebellious? He couldnt possibly spend his time going out trying to find her being a bad kid in the middle of the night. Men. Men will want to date her. Over my dead body! An earthling was not going to good enough for his baby girl, no way. If he ever caught one touching his daughter, he'd beat the crap out of that guy. Suddenly he realized Bulma had stopped.
"Helloooooo? Vegeta! Let go!" He was caught mid-thought. He didnt realize how much time had passed by, or that he was holding on tight as his anger rose. "Youre cutting off the circulation of my arms. Whats wrong with you!?" He was becoming very protective of his baby girl. She wasnt born yet and he already had plans on destroying men who would be gawking at her. "If you're not going to finish this, then we-"
"NO! We're getting that baby out as soon as possible dammit! Today, tomorrow, she's coming out!"
