When I regained my bearings from being thrown into the car I finally noticed the well decorated military man from before was sitting next to me.

"Who are you?" I demanded and he just chuckled glancing from the window to me.

"I could ask you the same thing", he replied in a gruff tone as I began to glare at him.

"I asked first", I replied childishly wondering how I could get out of this. I glanced over at the door to see whether it was locked or not, he let out a "tsk" at me making me glance over to him. He wagged his finger at me with a smirk. I studied his face; he had deep lines of age on his face and without the smirk his mouth naturally moved into a grimace. His brown hair was starting to show signs of peppering white. After a few more moments of silence with me looking out the window was had as I tried to assess how I was going to get out of this he spoke.

"I am Colonel Chester Phillips for the Scientific Strategic Reserve", he informed me and I stared at him in thought. The Scientific Strategic Reserve were the people who first did experiments with the super soldier serum.

"Why did you take me?" I demanded and he glanced from the window back to me again.

"You wanted to be there?" he questioned and I let out a snort crossing my arms. Surprisingly he seemed to take my "unladylike" sound with stride. "You were found by police looking very battered wearing barely anything", he stated motioning toward my sleep clothing. I sighed glancing down at my clothing knowing for the time the shorts and tank top were considered risqué.

"How about you tell the real reason you took me from there? Unless this Strategic Reserve makes a point to pick up barely dressed women from police stations?" I replied in a tone dripping with sarcasm. He let out a small chuckle apparently highly amused by my tone; this just served to further irritate me. He held out a folder for me to take, I took it slowly with narrowed eyes unsure of its contents. I opened the folder to find badly taken, black and white snap shots showing a storm raging over New York apartment buildings.

"Where you were found was exactly where a large storm last night occurred, windows were shattered and eye witnesses stated seeing a bright light explode from the sky, know anything about that?" I set mouth into a thin line staring at each of the photos for details. One depicting a bright light, brighter than any lightening possible sat on top.

"So? Ever heard of a coincidence?" I stated dropping the photos on the seat between us trying to be nonchalant. From the look on his face, he obviously was not buying it.

"In this war, I take nothing as a mere coincidence", he declared tugging at the front of his jacket.

"Sounds more like paranoia", I replied and his nose flared obviously losing his patience with my replies.

"It's called being vigilant for espionage in this great country", my jaw dropped when he said that.

"Are you trying to propose that I am a spy for the Nazi's?" I asked. His silence was the only reply I needed. I shifted in my seat in thought as how I could convince this Colonel I was no spy for the SS.

"Even if that is true, which it isn't, do you actually believe your enemy has the technology capable to somehow make a woman appear out of lightening", I asked him trying to make his thoughts seem quite outlandish.

"I have taken to never underestimating my enemy", he leaned in close enough in an attempt to intimidate me but in reality all I could smell was his coffee breath. I closed my eyes sighing loudly. "So are you going to tell me who you are?" he asked. I opened my eyes staring at him for a moment.

"So if you do believe that this type of technology exists then you are not completely opposed to the belief that there is a multitude of abilities that science has yet to uncover?" I asked him.

"How about you tell me who you are and I'll decide if I believe you or not" he replied to me. I took a deep breath to try to gain some confidence in saying these next words. I looked away from him because I did not want to see the look he was going to give me, I could only hope that this Colonel Phillips would be open to possibilities. After a moment of pause I spoke up.

"My name is Charlene….Charlene Stark and I'm from the year 2013"

Later

I stared blankly at the ceiling of the cell I was in. Needless to say Colonel Phillips did not believe my story; he even went as far as to laugh at me. I had been stuck in this cell for longer than I could count. As far as being stuck it was not the worst imprisonment though I barely ate and I had a hard time sleeping on the cot. I still had not regained my full strength yet but I was getting there. Even with the "comforts" I had I was still extremely irritable with any of the staff that entered the room that tried to give me checkups, blood tests, and food. A loud squeal filled the air as the door opened; I barely glanced at the woman who stood before me.

"Hello ma'am, here's your dinner for the night", I grunted in reply continuing to stare up at the ceiling in defiance.

"You need to eat", my nose flared in anger when I heard the Colonel's voice. I shot up in the bed with a glare that would scare almost anyone; it served its purpose on the wrong person causing the woman to scurry out the room. However, Colonel Douche still stood before me with his ever emotionless face.

"Maybe I would eat if I weren't a PRISONER" I yelled the last part my anger and frustrating coming out in harsh words. "I told you Colonel, I'm not a spy for Hitler" he scoffed shuffling where he stood.

"No, you're just the futuristic heir to the Stark fortune", my glare increased due to his tone of amusement. I was close to lunging across the room at the Colonel when I heard the clearing of a throat behind him.

"Perhaps, I can meet her before she decides to kill you Colonel", the deeply accented voice asked with the twinkle of amusement in their voice. The Colonel sighed and side stepped revealing a much shorter gray haired man. He shuffled in wearing a suit one size too big for him with small circle glasses and a pleasant smile on his lips as if he wasn't just stepping into a cell. "Hello fraulein", he greeted making me realize his accent was deeply German.

"This is Doctor Abraham Erskine", the Colonel informed me. The Doctor shuffled over with a kind smile and reached his hand out for a shake. I hesitated a moment before reaching out and shaking his hand back; he brought his other hand over to grip the top of mine giving it a small pat. His eyes shown with kindness and amusement that instantly made me feel more comforted then I had since I had been forced into this by Martovoli and the alien relic.

"You can leave us now Colonel", the Colonel opened his mouth to protest but the Doctor started first, "we won't be having any problems, will we be Miss. Stark?" I shook my head in reply and he nodded looking pleased before glancing over at the Colonel. He grunted looking frustrated with the Doctor.

"Fine, but there will be armed guards outside just in case", he moved his pointed gaze to mine. I glared darkly at him for his suggestion. He closed the door with a loud slam. After a moment of silence, Doctor Erskine sighed grabbing the chair from the other side of the room and bringing it over to sit near the bed. He sat down slowly and wearily with a grunt when he finally was completely in the chair.

"You called me Miss. Stark", I told him causing him to pause in his shifting to look at me.

"Well yes, this is your name correct?" he asked me pausing to take his glasses off to clean them.

"Yes it is…but" I stopped short on my words making him look up at me.

"But no one has believed you…that is rather sad", he told me.

"And you believe me then? That I what I said was true?" I asked him. He put his glasses back on meeting my eye.

"Absolutely."

"Why?" I demanded immediately. I was cautious that this was just a ploy by the Colonel to try to get me to break to a German man that I was a spy.

"Because…I have met the women they employ to be spies for the Nazis and you are nothing like them", he replied slightly cryptic in his answer. I stared at him a moment trying to perceive him for any lies, he sat still as if he understood what I was doing. After a moment I sighed and nodded; while I was still weary I had a great sense that Doctor Erskine was a good man.

"Alright then…thank you", I finally spoke up. He gave me a kind smile and reached out slowly to pat my knee kindly.

"Well it's settled then", he told me standing up. I raised an eyebrow as he made his way over to the door rapping his knuckles against it twice.

"Settles what then?" I asked in confusion. The door creaked out and he turned around with a smile.

"You'll be coming with me then of course", he told me as if it were the most obvious thing ever. I hopped up in surprise at his words.

"W-what?" I asked now terribly confused as to why this was happening. The Colonel appeared in the door way with his lips pursued into a thin line.

"Doctor Erskine has stated his willingness to speak on your behalf that you are not dangerous and he is also willing to employ you as his assistant to keep a close eye on you" he explained to me. He did not look pleased with this arrangement at all.

"His assistant?" I asked.

"Yes, I work for the Strategic Reserve fraulein and you being a Stark means that you must be well informed on the subjects of science and technology…those abilities are too good to pass up", Doctor Erskine informed me with a smile and a twinkling eye.

"But what would we be working on", I asked assuming the worst on this matter. The Colonel opened his mouth to try to shut down the questioning but Doctor Erskine interrupted him again.

"The super solider serum", he informed me. I kept my face blank but my heart stopped.

"Ever heard of it?" the Colonel prodded obviously trying to see how much I knew.

"Well we can't know the answer to that Colonel, it would be ruining the surprise if our work becomes well known history", the Doctor jested at him. I stared down at the ground giving my dry lips a lick as I considered my options. Would I be destroying any type of time continuum by assisting with the super solider serum? My heart jumped when I realized if I helped with this I just might see Steve then; my heart ached to see him again and to be held close in his warm embrace.

"This is your only chance to leave this cell, if you don't accept you will be left to rot in this cell to the end of the war…if not longer", the Doctor casted a dirty look at the Colonel's harsh words.

"I-I accept", I finally said after a moment of silence. Doctor Erskine smiled brightly looking pleased.

"Very, very good. Come along then fraulein", he told me motioning for me to follow as he stepped out the room. I took a deep breath stepping forward to the door way, the Colonel blocked my way towering over me. I did not shrink away from his dark glaze.

"If I find out you are a spy-"

"You won't", I replied.

"If I find out it's true you will have to worry about more than just rotting in this cell", he threatened at me.

"You clearly don't want me helping him so why are you letting this happen?" I questioned ignoring his threat.

"Because this way I keep you right under my nose during this war…and he's one persistent German", he replied before twisting around and storming down a long white hallway with two soldiers by his side.

"Miss Stark! Come along, we have a lot to do!" I twisted to the left seeing Doctor Erskine motioning to me where he stood at the end of the hall. I looked down at my bare feet that stood at the center of the doorway. I swallowed hard knowing once I stepped past this door I would be moving into something that was much bigger than my scope of understanding.

I stepped forward with the picture of Steve Roger's smiling face in my mind. It was worth it if I got a chance to be back with him.
