Chapter 8: Get Elsa!

Ryan lay in a burning building, dazed and not moving. Opening his eyes, he felt only the irritation on his face from heat, all he could see…

The flames flickering back and forth releasing black, putrid smoke.

Flashback…

"Come on John, we need to get out of here!" Ryan, who was 7 years of age, yelled at his brother.

"What about Papa? Where is he?" John asked.

"He's…" Ryan tried to say the fate of their father, but couldn't. 'There's no time to explain John, we need to get out of here."

"But…" John protested but Ryan grabbed his hand and led him where to go. All around them, everything was burning, the sheer heat instantly making them squint. Countless dead bodies littered the ground, decorations and furniture destroyed and burning, holes blown through the castle walls… the place was a mess as well as a living nightmare. Then the sound of a large explosion sounded off shaking the ground beneath their feet. Then when things couldn't get worse… they did. All around them, the castle's brick walls started to crack and break, some falling from where they had once lay.

"RUN!" Ryan yelled to his brother who didn't take a moment longer to register what his brother had said and ran with Ryan at his side. The large wooden supports holding the castle's roof started to break and shift, some giving out and falling just mere inches behind Ryan and John as they ran for the doors that were nothing but splinters of shattered, cracked wood. Ryan and John leapt for the exit that determined whether they lived or died… all they could see around them…

The flames flickering back and forth releasing black, putrid smoke.

Ryan shook his head of the memory and shoved himself to his feet with new found strength thinking about Elsa outside. On his feet Ryan ran for the window he was thrown into but was stopped as a couple of wooden planks from the upper floor fell, crashing down in front of the window blocking his escape. Thinking quickly he looked up and could see an exposed window on the upper floor through the hole just created by the fallen wood planks. Acting out what first came to mind, Ryan turned around and ran through the burning building dodging flaming, falling boards here and there as he found a stairway. As he was running up the stairs, part of them had collapsed into a burning inferno. Leaping across the gaping hole and smashing through the door on the top floor he landed with a harsh thud on his right shoulder inches away from blistering hot fire. Getting up, he looked straight ahead to see his escape… the lone window. Running for his life and possibly Elsa's, he leaped over the hole with the entire bottom floor now only a burning inferno. Smashing once again through a window, he fell through and rolled down the side of the roof almost reaching the edge, until reaching his hand out to grab the very edge of the roof before falling off. Letting go, he landed with a thump on the ground, black soot blowing off from his cloak. Standing, he seen briefly Tyrell holding Elsa over his shoulder before slamming a smoke bomb onto the ground and disappearing into a mast gust of black smoke. Once the smoke cleared all that was left was Ryan, Anna, Kristoff, The Royal Guard… and a butterfly.

"You there, man in the white… stay where you are!" The leader of the Guard shouted with the guards all surrounding him.

"Really?" Ryan though in his head.

Just before Ryan was going to make a jolt for it, a much shorter strawberry blonde woman jumped out in front of him.

"Stop! This man has saved my sister, and has just now tried to again." Anna said to the guards. The guards obeyed and lowered their weapons. Anna was about to greet Ryan but he beat her to it.

"Princess, my name is Ryan, however now is not the time for introductions. We can meet later but we need to find your sister first. Meet me at the castle." Ryan said.

"No, we're coming with you!" Anna argued grabbing Kristoff's arm.

If you can keep up," Ryan responded as he ran toward the nearest building and jolted forward and up the building. Reaching the top, he stopped briefly and listened to his environment around him, concentrating on sight and sound.

Flashback…

"Wolves Ryan. Wolves are foul, ferocious beasts that roam these mountains. Though they are quite evil in nature, they possess a great ability… the ability to track prey from almost anywhere, at any time." Ryan's grandfather said.

"Really? How?" Ryan, whom was about 6 years of age, asked.

"Instincts really, but if you concentrate on sound and sight as well as observe disturbances on the ground and air… you can too," Ryan's grandfather said.

End of flashback…

Opening his eyes, Ryan found where his target had ran, and took off across the rooftops. Hoping from roof top to roof top, he leaped off into a haystack. Getting out, he took off across the street busy with people, carefully dodging each one of them to not loose speed. Running through an alley way to another street he seen some people getting off the ground dusting themselves off while grumbling to themselves. Other people were starring off into another alley. Once Ryan ran up, they all turned their heads to look at him. They all pointed to the alley somehow feeling he was in pursuit. Nodding, Ryan took off into the alley. Upon reaching the alley, he stopped at a dead end. Puzzled, he looked around for any clues as to where Tyrell had gone. He began walking in circles looking all around for… anything. A minute later, the clambering of feet could be heard behind him.

"Whoa… do you… ever… get a… around," Anna said between gasps leaning over with her hands on her knees.

"How the crap… do you do… that," Kristoff asked between gasps himself.

"Physical conditioning as well as practice," Ryan answered.

"There has got to be some sort of secret entrance." Ryan thought to himself.

"Whew, I need to… have a breather," Anna said walking up to the dead end wall and leaning against it. Suddenly the wall began to move inward revealing a secret opening.

"Whoa!" Anna gasped as she lost her balance. Kristoff quickly caught Anna before she fell backwards.

"Good job," Ryan said before entering. Anna began to follow but was stopped by Ryan.

"Princess, you need to stay out here where it is safe. I don't know what's down here, but whatever is… wants your sister dead or alive for a reason I know not." Ryan said.

"NO! I, AM… going to help get my sister back and I don't care what is down there." Anna argued.

"It's for your own safety. I need to only worry about your sister's safety down there." Ryan argued back. "I promise… I will return with your sister."

"He's right Anna, didn't you see what that man in black armor did? I don't think we'll be much help down there," Kristoff said.

"I don't care, I…" Anna persisted.

"Princess… please, I will return. Meet me at the castle." Ryan said.

"Fine… but I have your promise!" Anna sighed. With that, Ryan took off down the dark tunnel.

In an unknown location…

"Tyrell… you have returned. What news do you bring me?" The older, creepy, dark man said with a hoarse voice.

"My lord, my mission has been a success." Tyrell began. "The Assassin is presumed dead and I have brought you what you desired… Queen Elsa of Arendelle."

"Good, you have done well," The older man said. "Everything has gone as planned. Now for our final plan to take place before we can initiate our final act."

"What's that my Lord," Tyrell asked.

"To…" The older man began but was interrupted as an arrow with red markings flew toward him. His hand flew up to catch the arrow inches from his head. The older man took one look at the arrow and smirked.

"HA! You'll have to do better than that, RYAN HILL!" The old man yelled into the darkness. Jumping out from the darkness revealed none other than the Assassin Ryan himself.

"Silas," Ryan spat with a look of hatred in his eyes. "Let Elsa go, NOW! Or else."

"HA, or else what? You've fallen into a rat trap, little rat." The older man now known as Silas said. Then he snapped his fingers signaling ten men in black to walk out from the shadows, putting themselves between Ryan and Silas. "Tyrell… take Elsa to point O. And dump her for the sharks! The rest of you, take care of our rat infestation."

Silas turned around and disappeared into the shadows as well as Tyrell. The ten Templars in black readied their weapons and got in a circle around Ryan. Ryan extended both of his hidden blades and got into a defensive position. Two Templars, each on an opposite side of Ryan, charged at him with daggers drawn. Ryan ducked downward and sliced across, with his right blade, the first Templar's leg causing him to fall into the second Templar's dagger. Ryan brought his right blade around into the side of the second Templar's neck. Two more Templars charged Ryan with axe's drawn. Ryan rolled away from the third Templar's axe, which landed on the forth Templar's shoulder. After rolling, Ryan brought his left blade in a swinging motion slicing into the third Templar's neck. Immediately, a fifth Templar came at Ryan with a sword drawn. Ryan swung his right blade in a horizontal motion, deflecting the Templar's sword, then brought his right blade back up slicing the Templar's arm and shoved his left blade into the fifth Templar's neck. The sixth Templar came at Ryan with double short swords swinging them madly at him. Ryan carefully dodged each swing before a seventh Templar came charging behind his with a spear. Ryan rolled around the side of the spear just before it stuck him in the back, making the seventh Templar spear the sixth Templar in the chest. Before the seventh Templar could react, Ryan shoved both blades into his neck. An eight Templar, also with a spear charged Ryan, however Ryan jumped on top of the spear, forcing it to the ground, disarming the Templar and before he could react, threw a throwing knife into his throat. Ryan kicked up the spear with his foot, into his hand and lodged it into the ninth Templar's chest before he even got within a ten foot radius. Ryan just stared at the tenth Templar who looked like he just pissed his pants.

"Screw this!" The tenth Templar said dropping his weapon and high tailing it out of there. Ryan smirked and took off where he seen Tyrell take Elsa. He came up to an open trap door and found a ladder leading to the sewers. Dropping down, he instantly slipped and slid down with the water flow down the sewer. Covered in what he prayed wasn't people's… waste… he saw the end of the tunnel that escaped into a large body of water. Shooting out of the tunnel, he landed into the water and swam up. Reaching the shore he found who he was looking for… Tyrell and Elsa.

"Put her down Tyrell!" Ryan shouted.

"Over my dead body!" Tyrell shouted back and took off in a dead sprint into the town. Ryan pursued Tyrell who was much slower than him. Upon catching up Tyrell drew his pistol and shot at Ryan. Ryan dodged just in time behind some boxes to miss the bullet. The citizens cleared way as soon as they heard the loud boom, making everything open for Tyrell and Ryan. Tyrell proceeded to the docks around a corner, Ryan in hot pursuit. Tyrell ran across the docks and onto an unattended boat and then he tied a weight to Elsa's ankle and was about to dump Elsa into the deep waters on the other side of the boat but felt a sharp pain in the back of his leg at the knee joint after hearing a loud boom. He dropped Elsa on the deck of the boat to catch himself from falling completely. Turning around on one knee he seen Ryan standing in the middle of the boat holding a smoking double barrel muzzle loader.

"AGH, how the…" Tyrell began but was interrupted by Ryan.

"Save it! Why don't you tell me the Templar's plan," Ryan said holding Tyrell at gun point.

"Ha! You really think I would tell you?" Tyrell asked. Ryan responded by pulling the second hammer back.

"Last chance, what are you planning?" Ryan asked.

"Ha! You Assassins are all the same. You all seem to think we fear death. Many may, but I embrace it!" Tyrell said pulling a dagger out from his belt and bringing it down toward Elsa. Ryan pulled the trigger landing a bullet in Tyrell's chest on his left side. Tyrell went limp falling over the side of the boat into the deep waters of the bay and sank. Ryan holstered his pistol and walked over to Elsa. Picking her up bridal style, he carried her off the boat and onto the docks. After he got off the docks he looked up and seen the townsfolk dead silent staring at him. Ignoring the uncomfortable feeling Ryan had he continued to carry Elsa around the buildings and over to the castle bridge. As soon as the guards seen him their eyes widened and shouted…

"Open the gates! The Queen has been found, alert the princess." After that was said the gates instantly opened and out came Kai and Gerda as well as Anna came out. Kai and Gerda took Elsa while Anna almost instantly hugged Ryan.

"Thank you!" Anna thanked.

"Um, you're welcome," Ryan said awkwardly, breaking the hug.

"Please come in, we can talk more inside. I know Elsa will want to meet you when she wakes up." Anna offered.

"Sounds good," Ryan responded.

To Be Continued…

Da, da da, daaaaaaaaaaa! The day has been saved! Now with foes defeated, Ryan can hopefully ease up for a while and maybe Elsa too.
