Night Eight:

The rest of the day, I spent listening intently in classes for the first time in a really long time, but occassionally my thoughts drifted back towards the rose that was left on my dresser. Who the hell snuck into my room at night to give me a rose? I couldn't help but feel a little excited at the prospect of playing detictive to find out who was leaving me the roses. I know Yuuki was trying to give me hints, but it was still hard to figure out who it was now that everyone in the Night Class seemed intrested in me.

It then clicked into my mind. If Yuuki was penning these notes, then she knew exactly who it could be that leaving me the roses. I made up my mind to slowly throw hints towards her to tell, and I did try my best to throw those hints to her. Wether she knew what I was talking about, and ignoring it, or seriously didn't know what I was talking about was a matter to figure out for another time, but nonetheless, I tried to get her to tell me.

Eventually, lunchtime rolled around, and I had almost forgotten about the promised meeting until I saw Takuma waiting for me. I felt my surprisingly good mood almost instantanously being replaced by a slight apprehension. Just what the hell was I thinking the previous night, agreeing to this meeting?

"I'm so glad you agreed to meet us, Miss Sakika." Takuma smiled wider at me as we hurried not to be seen. I didn't reply as I tried my best to keep up with his fast pace. In no time, we had reached the Moon Dormintory.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

I wasn't sure what I had expected Kanama Kuran to act. I know what he was among the vampires. He was the top of the top. He was of the royal Kuran lineage. A rare pureblood vampire. Somehow, I had expected him to exude more power than he really did at the time. In fact, he had appeared somewhat reserved, as expected, but there was a type of...Well something that I couldn't exactly put my finger on at all.

Kaname looked up at us as we entered the room. He almost looked like it pained him to see me standing there before him, but it seemed like he wanted me at ease. It was an odd combination.

"Why don't you guys sit, and talk like I'm not here. I'm just looking over these paperworks from The Senate." I wasn't too sure how to feel about that, so I merely nodded slightly.

Takuma pulled up a seat beisde me, across from Kuran, and smiled at me as he leaned foreward. I instinctvly pulled back. Kuran glanced up at me before his eyes met Takuma's eyes. There seemed to be a silent communication going on before Kaname looked back at the paper work. Takuma looked back at me with a strained smile as he sat back in the chair, which allowed me to relax.

"Have I mentioned I'm really happy you decided to spend your lunch with us? Oh, are you hungry? I can have the maid bring up something really-"

"No. I mean, no thanks. I'm really not that hungry. I can wait until dinner." Takuma seemed to almost deflat slightly. Like I had actually insulted him in a way. I felt bad. "Well...I guess one sandwhich with mayo, and a side of those really salty chips, and a glass of...I don't know juice wouldn't be bad." I gave in after a moment of thinking it over. My stomache growled slightly, making me blush as Takuma smiled." Oh, and maybe something sweet too. Nothing too big for desert."

"That can be arranged. Now if you'll wait a moment, I'll tell the maid, and it will be brought over in no time. Oh, what kind of meat?"

"Umm, it doesn't matter. Surprise me."

"Right. I'll be right back!" I felt my body tense up the moment I knew he was serious about leaving me alone with Kuran. In almost no time at all, Takuma was out the door, leaving me alone with the pureblood.

I could almost hear the blood plusing in body as a slight fear overcame me. I knew it was stupid, but I couldn't help but feel that way. I swallowed past the lump in my throat, and looked back towards Kuran, who had sat the papers down on the table, and was watching me intently.

"You're so very diffrent from other Vampire Hunters. Most of your people would have been...Unsettled by a vampire inviting them to lunch, but you...You don't seem frightened by us at all."

"I'm trained to hunt your kind. Not be afarid of them." I countered. He nodded slightly.

"That's true, but you do fear us on some level. You're at least unsettled by this aren't you?"

"Perhaps. It all depends on what it means to you." Kuran smirked slightly. The smirk settled the rock in my stomache even more. I tried to keep my compsure, but I knew by his quick change in expression that he still knew how scared I was at the moment.

"It means nothing to me how you feel about us. Of course, unless, one of us is your target to kill then I suppose it would be my business."

"Not really." I again responded with a distant tone. The pureblood raised one eyebrow at me, then looked back at the papers for a moment with another smirk before he spoke up again.

"I am now sensing exactly what Takuma has been talking about, but then again he is almost never wrong when it comes to these things, you know. He is surprising insightful."

"What are you talking about?" The words slipped through my tongue before I even had a chance to think about them, but it was too late to take them back. Kuran looked back at me with a shrug.

"He thinks there is something special. Something you're keeping hidden from the rest of the school that we don't already know." His voice had dropped down to a whisper, which made me lean more towards him to hear him speak at all."And I, personally, would love to see what that secert could possibly be." Kuran leaned back towards his regular postion, his normal uncaring face was back on as Takuma came in with a plate of food. I smiled as Takuma sat it in front of me.

"Seems like you two had a nice chat." I glanced at Kuran who had half his face hidden by his palm as he contuined to read the papers. I could almost sense him smirking underneath his hands. I glanced over at Takuma, and nodded slightly.

"It was...Normal. Just the usual." I took one of the tiny sandwhiches, and bite into it slowly. I was susrprised by how good it tasted. I nodded, and took another bite.

"Oh...Well, that's good as well!" I nodded, and glanced between the two. Something was going on. There was some sort of hidden communication that I just couldn't figure out, and it was begining to grate on my nerves. I hated secerts being kept from me, but then again who didn't?

The lunch went on quiet normally. Takuma asked many questions, and seemed genuinely intrested in each answer I provided. He occasionally glanced at a seemingly dispondent Kuran, but otherwise his full attention was on me. Once was over, and we said our good-byes, I quickly hurried off to P.E.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

"Where were you during lunch? Yuuki and me looked everywhere for you." Zero asked during our stretching before our lap running.

"I had to go back to my dorm to study for the test. So shoot me for punishment just because I'm not around twenty-four seven." Zero rolled his eyes.

"Stop being so dramatic."

"You're the one acting like I have to answer everytime you or Yuuki can't find me." I answered back, giving one last stretch before standing up.

"Alright class, that's enough stretching. Time to sprint!" I glanced over at Zero, who gave me one last look, and then rushed over to my spot.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

I had still, for the most part, avoided the Moon Dormintory grounds. The last thing I wanted was to run into any of the Night Class students again. I didn't want to have to sit through an awkward conversation, or another lunch. Besides, I didn't want Zero to have to catch me again with one of them. He could go off, and tell the Head Master. The last thing I wanted was to be in trouble. But it was inevitable that I would have to go there.

Everything seemed oddly quiet. oddly peaceful. I was almost ready to turn back when Akatsuki came out of the shadows, hands in his pockets, and he looked oddly relaxed. I felt my heart speed up in my chest. I cleared my throat before I spoke up in an attempt to make my voice more composed than I really felt at the time.

"Hey...What are you doing out of your classes?"

"Seeing if you'd come around, or avoid again. Glad to see you didn't competely avoid." He walked foreward slightly. I felt my muscles tense up. I glanced backwards. I knew I shouldn't have come there, but the moment that thought passed through my head, I instantiously felt bad. I had considered these guys good. I shouldn't be feeling this way towards them. I looked back at him.

"I haven't been avoiding. I just...Needed to patrole other places, so it wasn't so easy to keep track of things here." He nodded, but I could tell he didn't believe me.

"Well...It's good seeing you." I blushed lightly, and nodded slightly.

"How long have you been waiting here?"

"Awhile." I felt myself relax more and more the longer I spent talking to him. He had a very relaxed arura around him. It was almost too hard not to relax around him.

"You should head back. I have to go patrole other areas." I said after a few moments of silence had passed between us. Zero had passed throuogh my thougths, and there was no way I was going to chance him catching me.

"We should talk some other time. We don't get that chance too often." My heart thumped in my chest at his bold offer. My mouth went dry, and all words seemed to escape my mind, so I merely nodded.

"Uhh, yeah...It would be...Nice..." My voice had come out slightly higher pitched than it usually was, so I had to clear my voice to get rid of it.

"Well, see you around." I nodded, and watched him walk off before turning, and walking out of the grounds myself.
