Natasha ran full speed at the man in front of her, all shock and anger gone in the heat of the moment. She wrapped her toned arms around his torso, ignoring the nice feeling that spread through her when they touched.
"Steve, oh my god…"
The blond man gazed down at the spy in his arms with surprise, which turned into adoration. He chuckled lightly, glad that Natasha was not angry at him—making an enemy of any Avenger would mean certain destruction, especially this one. However, the fiery redhead was happily hugging him, her head nestled into his chest.
"Hey, Nat… How are you?" He smiled down at her, playing with her red locks affectionately.
She released the soldier and looked up into his sky blue eyes. "Good, now that I'm still alive—and I've got you to thank for that."
They grinned at each other.
"Of course I had to come. Even though you kinda abandoned me without reason, you're still a fellow team member, and I care about you."
Natasha smiled genuinely at his sweet words and put her arms around his neck, fingers playing with the hairs on the back of his neck. She knew it was risky, and she was trained not to do this, but screw it, she thought. Red Room can suck it—Natasha Romanoff needed someone in her life, her rock, someone who would be there for her to back her up and support her when she was down. She would finally have a weakness, but to hell with it—she could take care of herself now. And who better to be a "weakness" than the famous Captain America himself?
"You wanted a friend, right?" Natasha looked deep into his alluring blue eyes, and saw that buried within his irises was longing and loneliness. She understood that losing everything you had ever known in a flash was devastating, and felt herself melt inside at the sight of his puppy-dog eyes. He didn't need to give her an answer.
"We can be partners, then."
Steve laughed mockingly at her words, which made the spy frown at him. "What?"
He smirked mischievously. "You can't expect me to accept that."
Sighing with exasperation, Natasha got down on one knee and took Steve's hand in hers. "Steven Grant Rogers, will you be my partner and friend?"
The man looked a little surprised at the word "friend", but smiled and helped her up. "Yeah, that's cool," he said, trying not to seem too excited.
Verdant eyes bright with happiness, Natasha flung herself at him, wrapping her legs around his torso and her arms on his shoulders, kissing Steve with all the passion she could muster as he responded with equal force, trusting that he would catch her.
And he did. With that, the soldier and the spy sealed their newly proclaimed friendship and partnership with a kiss.
