"I don't understand." I said again; watching Loki and the woman referred to as Enya. Loki had gone back to ignoring us again as he watched the woman Enya breathing. She hadn't awoken all day and it stressed Loki out more than I thought could be possible. What was it about that woman? What was it he had a hold over her for?
"Enya isn't normal." Tony said slowly to me, like I was a dim-witted child of earth. "I don't know where she is from, or how she got here, or even how Loki had her, but she is a unique woman."
"She's remarkable. She seems to be able to hold talents not of earth, but is of earth." Banner tried to explain. "She seems to have been experimented on."
"You earthlings hurt your own?"
"She's special. She's almost made to be who she is." Did that excuse their violence? We watched Loki from behind our glass room. He flicked his glance from her to us and back again. This woman just breathed with this plastic cup on her face, and these things in her arms. "She's the same girl from last year. The one who set him free." Aye, she was that. But why? She looked better than the last time. Last time she was covered in dirt, with short fiery hair. She was fast and she was boney. She was living on the streets, in the dirt. Was there no care for people like that?
"Has she had any military background?" Natasha Romanoff asked. She was eyeing up the woman suspiciously. As well as Clint.
"She has no background." Fury appeared into the room. His eyepatch looking formidable. "Apart from the name Enya she is a complete ghost. But by your testimonies she has some skills that are extensive." I saw Loki stand up and move closer to the side of his reinforced cage. I was getting suspicious but then Enya awoke. She blinked a few times and looked to us from her cage. She seemed confused and somewhat resigned. But then she shot from the bed like some spooked creature. The bed and mask went sliding across the cage and the needles in her skin with the pouches of funny liquid went with her. She landed in the corner on the balls of her feet. She looked down at her arm and ripped the needles out, throwing the lot away from her. She smeared the blood down her arm and was anxious. She looked around wildly before noticing Loki and then her whole body relaxed.
"Enya," I heard him say. "How are you feeling?" She looked to him but didn't say anything. "Good." He nodded. She looked around and he shrugged. "My brother Thor and his group of misfits and pet hulk have us contained." She looked at him surprised. "That's what I said. My brother. The demi God of Asgard."
"It isn't me is it? Can anyone else hear them speak?"
"Loki speaks, but Enya hasn't said a word."
"Do you think she can speak?" Natasha asked.
"They are fine. I think. I don't know. It should be impenetrable." She frowned at him. "You built it not me." He hissed coldly. "I thought your technology would surpass anything?" She rolled her eyes and looked around. "I didn't know they tracked us." We watched from the glass room as she straightened up and ran her hand along the reinforced cage.
"It's escapable. Thor has managed to escape it." She gave him a look before moving around and then looking at the code system. "They can see us." He explained. She didn't look at him, but continued to look at the surroundings. Then she move to the pouches that she had tossed at the floor and picked one up. She ripped off the needle and inspected it. "Enya leave it. You can't go against their Hulk. It a big green monster." She ignored him and watched as she moved to the entrance of the containment. Fury moved from the room into the containment area and she looked up at him. She regarded him for a few minutes and then ignored him.
"Enya, I am Nick Fury. I run SHIELD. I am the reason you are here." He said sternly. She shrugged at him and continued to look at the surroundings. "You shall not be able to escape." He stated. She shrugged at him again giving a small smile and moved back to the entrance of the containment. "It is the ant and boot scenario all over again." Loki got riled up over this and was stood facing Fury. Enya looked from Fury to Loki, watching Loki make some smart comment to Fury and Fury getting just as irritated.
"Miss Enya," Banner kept his voice soft interrupting their abuse, "may I ask you some questions about you in particular?" She stopped looking around and looked at him. "Your body is unique, your gifts even more so." She didn't say anything but continued to stare at him. "I am curious to how this has become." She continued in silence.
"Enya, do you hear us?"
"She understands you." Loki said icily. "She understand you. She isn't stupid like some of you puny earthlings."
"Then why doesn't she speak?" Natasha asked.
"She doesn't. She's a mortal who can't speak." We all looked to her and she looked at Banner again. "What do you plan with me?"
"You are to be punished and held for your actions."
"I have not committed an Asgardian crime in nearly seven years. Seems petty to hold a grudge that long?" He smirked.
"I can hold a grudge against the likes of you Loki for as long as I am alive, since you tried to destroy our planet."
"Not destroy it. Rule it. There was a difference."
"You had no right!" Fury snapped. "Your crimes are severe, and I and your brother Thor will decide on a crime that fits you so well Loki." Enya looked to me then raised her eyebrow.
"I was adopted by my hypocrite of a father. Thor's father. He was the All-father." He corrected himself. He seemed to answer her questions without saying anything.
"He was both our father before you murdered him." Enya looked at Loki then. He shrugged at her and she looked back.
"Enya, can you,"
"I can." She said. Loki's mouth dropped open and he looked to Banner shocked.
