"Do you think this is a good idea?" Jeff asked from where he sat in the passenger seat of Nick's car.

"Yes. We haven't seen Blaine in forever," Nick said, looking at the big house that sat in front of them "He sounded speechless on the phone when I told him about you, I'm sure he's nervous about seeing us again because of his wings and stuff."

Jeff nodded "But how'd he end up here? This place is huge."

"I have no clue, but we're going to find out." Nick said, giving Jeff's hand a reassuring squeeze before picking up his phone from where it was resting in the cup holder and dialed Blaine's number.

He gave Jeff a smile as he waited for Blaine to pick up. He tapped his fingers to the beat of the song that played on the radio, his nervous starting to act up. What if Blaine wasn't happy to see them and told them to leave? Was he going to mad that Nick didn't came soon? Envy the fact that Jeff was now human again and he wasn't? Nick was about to hang up when the ringing cut off and the sound of a deep breath came from the other end.

"Hello?"

"Blaine? Hey." Nick said.

"Hey Nick," Blaine said, "When are you guys going to be here? I wanna see you already."

Nick laughed at Blaine's complaining "Actually we're outside. So if you want to come out-" he stopped mid-sentence by the sound of a soft thud and footsteps retreating quickly.

"What's going on?" Jeff asked as he saw Nick's confused look "Is he there?"

"I'm not sure." Nick said slowly. "He was a minute ago."

Jeff was going to rely but their questions were answered when the front door of the giant lake house opened and a familiar head of curls appeared.

"Blaine!" Jeff cried, scrambling out of the car, leaving the door opened as he ran for his best friend.

Nick quickly ended the call with Blaine's phone and followed Jeff, also leaving the car door open behind him. Jeff and Blaine were hugging each other tightly. Blaine had a look of relief, fear, and happiness on his face as Jeff said something in his ear. Their hug ended and Nick didn't time to react before Blaine was in front of him, his arms wrapping around his shoulders.

"I miss you so friggin much." Blaine mumbled in Nick's ear, his voice cracking slightly.

"I missed you too dude, but if you start crying then I'll start crying." Nick said, his arms wrapping around Blaine torso, his hands resting on the boys back. He froze. His hands weren't just on Blaine's back, but something else. Something smooth but bumpy. His wings.

"Was that?" he gasped.

"Yeah, my wings."

Blaine pulled out of the hug, blushing and his eyes watery. He self-consciously pulled the jacket he's been wearing closer around his body. The door of the house opened and two people came walking out. An Asian girl and a boy with pale skin and perfectly styled hair. Nick raised an eyebrow at them before looking back to Blaine, who Jeff was now standing next too. Nick looked more closely at Blaine and could see that his eyes were now more yellow than they were before and there was something that was just visible on his shoulder where his shirt was riding down.

The girl and the boy came closer and Blaine smiled over at the boy. Nick looked them over before it clicked. When he talked to Blaine last he said people were helping him out… Kurt and Tina was it? Nick smiled at the two of them, the boy standing on the other side of Blaine, probably a little closer than needed.

"Are you two Tina and Kurt?" Nick said.

"That would be us," Tina responded with a smile "Are you Nick?"

The brown haired boy nodded, glancing over at Jeff who seemed to be confused. "I only know who they are because Blaine told me once." he explained to the blonde boy, who now looked like he understood.

Blaine turned to look at Jeff, his eyes squinted. "So what's the deal with you? You're now human?"

Jeff nodded. "You dad came to me one night and told me they have found a cure for it… I wasn't sure at first cause there's a 50/50 chance what I wouldn't have survived it but I did." Jeff said as Tina's eyebrows went up.

"A cure? Do you think they could use it on Blaine?" she asked, stepping forward.

"Yeah, his dad wants me find him and bring him to the lab- it's not a trap!" Jeff added on the last part as they all gave him skeptical looks.

Kurt sighed "It looks like there's more to the story then just you took the cure and changed. Did it hurt? How long did it take?" he looked around before looking back at the group "Why don't we go to the diner that's down the street and Jeff can tell us the whole thing."

"Sounds good," Jeff said and the others agreed. He looked excited suddenly and ran for Nick's car "I can get pancakes!"

Nick shook his head and Blaine let out a laugh "Come on, I'll drive."

The dinder was small. It had pictures of the lakes that were in the area and of the owners. It's walls were a creamy white color and it had hardwood flooring. Besides the five of them, there was an old couple and a family, the rest of the place was completely empty. They were seated at one of the big, wrap around booths.

Jeff was happily sipping on his chocolate milk until he felt eyes on him. Sure enough when he looked up everyone was staring at him. With a sigh he pushed his drink away and sat up straighter. "Do you really wanna hear all of it?"

"Yes." they all said at once, making him a little creeped out.

"You never told me the whole thing," Nick said "And I want to hear it so talk."

Jeff sighed, once Nick went sassy there was no getting out of it "Okay, well one of the nurses came in after one of the tests but Blaine's dad interrupted her…"

The room was bright. The white walls looked like they were glowing from the way the bright lights shone on them. Jeff sat on a metal table in thin white plants and only that. He was topless with his strong, dark gray wings opened behind him. Next to him on a silver tray was a needle and a jar of murky clear liquid on it. Jeff made a face, does he really want that being injected into his body? Yes, if it can change him back to being normal and back to Nick then it's worth it, even if death could be the outcome. He shivered, where was Dr. Anderson? He wants to get this over with.

"Jefferey," Dr. Anderson said as he entered the room as if he he knew Jeff was wondering where he was "Are you ready?"

Jeff nodded, letting out a shaky breath as he watched Blaine's dad put on white gloves and pick up the needle, dipping the tip of it in the murky clear liquid. "Will it hurt?"

"I'm not going to lie," Dr. Anderson said, the needle now filled with liquid. He turned to Jeff "Probably."

"Thanks for not sugarcoating it," Jeff mumbled as Dr. Anderson sat down on a wheeled stool in front of him. Jeff felt like this was some weird doctor appointment and he was about to get a shot. But this shot could end up killing him. It should make him not want it but how could he refuse the chance to be human again? If only Blaine was here also getting the shot, that would calm his nerves a bit.

"Relax Jeff, don't tense up." Dr. Anderson instructed.

Jeff tried to relax as he watched with wide eyes as Dr. Anderson felt for a vein in the crook of his. He rubber gloves felt cold against his skin as the doc pressed down. He found one and pressed the needle into it, released the liquid and Jeff felt a wave of pain wash over his body right away. He let out a yell of pain and doubled over, cradling his arm against his body.

The pain started to go away and Jeff slowly moved back into sitting position just double over again. The pain was now in his back, spreading up his wings in a burning pin and needles feeling. Jeff let out another scream, feeling like his wings were being torn apart and ripped from his body. Suddenly his vision went fuzzy and his heart picked up. He looked over at Dr. Anderson who was watching in terror at the sight before him, through the pain Jeff wondered what he must look like. His skin where most of his scales were started to burn as well and Jeff slipped to the ground, landing on his knees. He brought his hands up to his eyes, rubbing at them trying to clear his vision.

A pair of feet appeared in front of him but he didn't bother looking up to see who it was. The pain in his wings grew more intense, his skin felt like it was on fire and his eye site came and went in at different times. He slammed his hands to the cold tile floor to help him keep himself up but it didn't work. He felt dizzy. The pain was nauseating. With a shaky breath, he looked up to see Dr. Anderson and Dr. Hartman were standing over him, their faces looking scared and surprised. Jeff was about to look back to see if his wings were any different but his vision went black and he gasped for air. The last thing he saw was Dr. Anderson bending down to him, his eyes filled with worry, before he fell to the floor.

Jeff looked around the table, taking in everyones horrified looks as he finished his story, "And I woke up back in my make-shift room there. Apparently I stopped breathing for a good two minutes and they had to do CPR or whatever." Jeff shrugged.

They were quiet, looks of horror on their faces. Jeff cut off a piece of his pancakes and ate it, waiting for someone to speak. The someone was Kurt.

"Oh my god, that sounds horrible." He said, he looked over at Blaine who was playing with a straw wrapper. "You really want Blaine to go through that?"

"If it makes him human again, yeah. Sure it was painful- the most pain I felt in my life- but it was worth it in the long run." Jeff's icey blue eyes with small specks of yellow meant Kurt's sky blue eyes.

"But Jeff, you said you stopped breathing for two minutes," Nick said "You basically almost died, what if it's worse for Blaine?"

"You can't afford to think like that Nick," Tina said. "If you do, Blaine will get so beyond freaked out that he'll stay like this forever. They were able to save Jeff, why not him?"

Nick shrugged and picked at his eggs. Tina looked over at Blaine who was still playing with the straw wrapper, his look faraway. Jeff and Nick looked at each other while Kurt turned to Blaine, grabbing Blaine's hands away from the trash and holding them in his own. Blaine looked confused as he looked at Kurt but then gave him a sad look that was layered with confidence. His hand still intertwined with Kurt's, he turned to look at Jeff.

"I'll do it, I need too. I really don't want to be a hybrid freak anymore. I want my old life back." Blaine said, looking at his two friends with a longley stare "I want to sing for the Warblers again and hide Wes' gavel from him before meetings. And-" Blaine let out a frustrated noise, his eyes looking from one person to another before coming to a rest on Kurt "And I want to take you out on a proper date after all this is over. After I'm not a freak anymore."

"You're not a freak Blaine," Kurt said softly "You're just different but I will gladly take you up on that offer."

Blaine smiled when Jeff cleared his throat. "This is all very sweet and romantic seeing that you two just meant a few days ago and I can see you guys have things to discuss," Jeff gave them a knowing look, making them blush. "We need to get Blaine back to the lab. His dad's waiting."

With a deep breath Blaine nodded, looking over at Kurt while Jeff and Nick got up, "I'll see you soon okay? I'll text you after it's done." he leaned in so his mouth of hovering near to Kurt's ear. "And just in case that I don't come back," he whispered "Thank you." He kissed Kurt on the cheek before standing up and following Jeff and Nick away from the table. When the trio reached the front door, Blaine stopped and looked back at Kurt and Tina, giving them one last wave before exiting the diner and going back to the lab that he has spent countless days hiding from.
