Chapter 9/50
The Emotionless Sword Spirit: Fi
Skyloft Arc (9/9)

After their well-thought-out prayer, Link, Ed, and Eddy climbed up the stairs to the entrance of the Statue of the Goddess.

"The entrance is blocked," Eddy said, seeing a gate.

"It's a sacred place, so it's usually closed at night," Link said, looking at the female figure. "It looks like she wants us to get in, but the gate's locked." The female figure floated to an alternative path to their right. They dropped down quite a distance from cliff after cliff.

"It's Mia!" Ed said, gaping with joy to see the Remlit in the middle of the path.

"A cat? How did it get here?" Eddy asked.

"What is she doing?" Link asked as they went up to her. This whole time, Mia was not looking at them. She yawned and stretched, but the next part surprised them. She turned to them fiercely with an aggressive look. Her ears were pointy, and her yellow glowing eyes had no pupils. Her fangs and claws was much sharper than before. The tail was pointy and ruffled. Ed screamed out as they backed away.

"Go get her, Ed!"

"I'll sneeze, Eddy!"

"Oh, I forgot about that. Go get her, Link!"

"I don't want to kill her!" Link said, refusing to pull out his sword. Mia suddenly lunged at them, but Eddy swung her against the wall to their left. Eddy gave Mia no chance, so he slammed her down two more times. She was hurt, but frightened.

"I had to save the day as usual."

"We better hurry on. Take down anything that gets in our way." As they continued their path, along with finding a Red Rupee and killing Green Chuchus and Keeses, they climbed up and dashed up the long ramp. They found the girl floating up to a floating rock next to the Isle of the Goddess.

"Wait... But if we have to go there..." There was a gap between where they were and the floating rock.

"We have to jump across the gap. My Loftwing won't be here to save us because it's dark. Loftwings have poor vision in the night. I don't see those special knights with headlights around. We get one chance or else we'll...fall to our doom."

"C-carry me, Ed. This is for Double D and Zelda."

"For Double D and Zelda!" Ed said as Eddy was carried on Ed's back. They successfully jumped across the gap. They climbed up more on this rock, killing a Green ChuChu and using Recovery Hearts. They faced a long vine that they needed to climb, but they were able to do it. When they climbed up to the top, they were behind the Statue of the Goddess. With that, they followed the girl around and ended up in front of the giant statue.

Eddy growled at her. "Finally, we caught up to you! That was such a daring moment we did!" The girl did not respond. She phased through behind the crest of the goddess, which started to glow in blue light. The crest disappeared, but revealed a path.

"There's a room inside the statue?" Link said, gaping. "I never knew that." The three brave heroes entered inside the Statue of the Goddess with caution.

After they exited out of the long hall way, they stood inside a circular room with pillars and torches around. In the center of the room was a blue glowing sword in a stone.

"A sword?" Link said.

Suddenly, the girl appeared out of the sword, thus stopping the glow. "The one chosen by my creator," she said in an emotionless and a robotic tone. "And friends of the chosen. I have been waiting for you. You will play a role in a great destiny."

"Who are you?!" Eddy asked.

"According to your social customs, I should provide you with my personal designation. Fi, the sword spirit, is the name I was given."

"Fi..." Link said.

"Fee-fi-fo-fum," Ed said.

"I was created for a single purpose," Fi continued, "long before the recorded memory of your people. I must aid you in fulfilling the great destiny that is your burden to carry." She turned her head to the sword stabbed in the stone. "Come, Link. You must take up the Goddess Sword. As the one chosen by my creator, it is your destiny."

"H-hold on... This is all...sudden," Link said, feeling apprehensive.

"The strange dreams troubling your sleep. My sudden appearance. Uncertainty surrounding the fate of one you hold dear. Under the circumstances, it is only logical that you would exhibit some apprehension."

Link stared at her eyes. "T-that's... That's right."

"To minimize your uncertainty, allow me to share some information. My projections indicate that this information has a high probability of altering your current emotional state."

"What?" Eddy asked.

"The ones you care are alive." This caught the three by surprised, but smiled upon the news.

"What a relief!" Link said as he felt his burden lifting.

"It's a miracle!" Ed said, pumping out his hands in the air.

"Thank goddess," Eddy said, sighing in relief.

"This spirit maiden," Fi continued, "the one you call Zelda...is another chosen one fated to be part of the same great mission." She stared at Link's face. "Therefore, should you wish to meet with your friend, I highly recommend you take up this sword before you set out to search for her. Does that information invigorate you? Are you ready to accept the Goddess Sword, Link?" Link dashed forward without warning. The sword spirit ascended up a bit. "It seems that further persuasive measures will not be required. In the name of my creator, draw the sword and raise it skyward."

"Pull it out, Link!" Ed said. Link nodded at him before looking at the Goddess Sword in front of him. He got into his stance, grabbing the sword's handle with two hands. The teen expected to be difficult, but he pulled it rather easily. He examined the mint color of the sword's handle and the blue diamond jewel embedded on both sides of the handle.

Now to raise it skyward, Link thought as he did. A blue ball of light appeared at the tip of the blade. Tiny blue ball of energy were fusing in the light. It fell down slowly for a few seconds until it reached the handle. The blade itself glowed in radiant blue color. Wow... This mysterious sword is bathed in divine light.

"Link looks so cool with that sword!"

"Recognition complete...Link," Fi said. "Link... My master." Link held the glowing sword closer to him. The blade stopped glowing after a couple of seconds.

"Link! Ed! Eddy!" someone said from behind. It was Gaepora, who was shocked and awed at this amazing scene. "I've had my suspicions, but until now I wasn't sure. Yet here we are in the Chamber of the Sword, the very place where it was foretold the youth of legend would one day appear. It is said that this place was left to our people by the goddess herself. This very knowledge of this room's existence is a secret passed down to a select few each generation, along with a handful of words."

"Words?" Link asked.

"'When the light of the goddess's sword shines bright, the great apocalypse will wake from its long slumber. Do not fear, for it is then that a youth, guided by my hand, shall reveal himself in a place most sacred.'"

"Apocalypse?!" Eddy said, recalling the introduction of the book.

"It started days ago. The sword that I've kept secret all these years... It began to give off a faint, otherworldly light. At first, I was sure I was seeing things, here alone with the sword. There was simply no other explanation. I never dreamed the prophecy of legend would come to pass in my lifetime." Gaepora began to look up at Fi. "The words I have sworn to keep secret are coming true before my very eyes." Gaepora cleared his throat to recite. "'The youth will be guided by one born of the blade who is also youthful in likeness yet wise with knowledge immeasurable.'"

"So...she's like Double D 2.0."

"Ah, yes," Fi replied to Gaepora, "the oral tradition, one of the least reliable methods of information retention and transmission. It appears that critical sections of the passage have been lost over the generations." Everyone looked among themselves, wondering what she meant.

Eddy put his hand on his chin. "Come to think of it, didn't Double D said about the attention span with Beedle?"

Fi floated down in front of them, ready to recite. "'The youth who draws forth the guiding sword shall be known as the goddess's chosen hero, and it is he who possesses an unbreakable spirit. He shall be burdened with the task of abolishing the shadow of apocalypse from the land. Such is his destiny. With the spirit of the blade at his side, he shall soar over the clouds and plummet below... And untied with the spirit maiden, shall bring forth a piercing light that resurrects the land.'" Link suddenly remembered Zelda talking about the land below.

"But...what does it have to do with these boys?" Gaepora asked, referring to the Eds.

"My creator, who was the Crossover Sentinel of this dimension, had received a transmission from a different dimension. It was the beginning of three ordinary boys accessing to many dimensions by using the versatile Crossover Books. In this dimension, they will assist the chosen hero known as the Vanguard in their eyes. They will help the Vanguard through the power of their bonds: Synchronization. With the power of absolute trust, the Vanguard shall grow into a true hero."

Ed and Eddy widened their eyes in shock and awe. "You know about us?!" Eddy asked. "Crossover Books? Crossover Sentinels? Vanguards? Even Synchro-whatever?!"

"We have more stalkers, Eddy!" Ed said, referring to all Crossover Sentinels. Fi turned her attention to Link, who was also surprised like the Eds.

"You guys are more special than I thought," Link said in awe.

"Master," Fi said, "you and your friends must embark on a great journey beneath the clouds to the vast realm of the surface. It is only through this journey that you can fulfill the mission set before you by my creator: the goddess. It is also the only method available for you to reunite with the spirit maiden, honorable Zelda."

"This is no easy task!" Gaepora said. "The world below is a forsaken place, and to reach it, you must pierce the cloud barrier below. In living memory, no one has ever done this."

Fi held out her capes, manifesting an object to Link. "This tablet will illuminate a path through the clouds to the land below. Take it, and place it within the altar behind me."

Link grabbed the stone tablet, which looked to be part of a puzzle. An emerald, but dull, diamond jewel was embedded in the tablet. There was also a colorless, carved picture of a huge forest and lake. "The weathered surface of this heavy stone tablet feels very old," Link said as they looked at Fi for the next instruction.

"Master, the first thing you must do is hit the crest sitting in this room with a Skyward Strike.

"Skyward Strike? You mean...when the blade is glowing?"

"Affirmative. These blasts are formed of pure energy that charges within your blade when you lift it skyward. Once you have charged your blade, face the crest and swing your sword to sent out a powerful Skyward Strike." Fi showed Link the altar where the crest was located. Although the crest of the goddess was floating, it looked black and dull. With the Goddess Sword in his right hand, he pointed in the air skyward and charged the energy.

"Okay." Link swung down the glowing sword, which came out a blue circular wave. It struck the crest, twirling it around many times and transforming the black color into a light blue color. When it faced Link fully, a light flashed, making the crest glossy. A cylindrical stone raised up below the crest. A rectangular spot was the place for the tablet to fit. Link deduced the Emerald Tablet should be at the lower right, which he did. The emerald gem began to glow.

Outside the Statue of the Goddess, a ball of green light shoot out from the goddess's hands. It flew up across the sky in a parabola way until it struck the cloud barrier south of Skyloft. A giant green column of light appeared in this night.

"Uh...that's it?" Eddy asked. "Nothin' happened."

"Master Link, it is done," Fi said as Link turned around. "Until now, a cloud barrier created by the goddess has separated the world you know from the one below. The tablet you placed in the altar has opened a small rift in the barrier. You can use it to travel through the clouds to the realm below. I have recognized you as my master, and so it is my duty to follow you wherever you may go. I reside within your sword and will accompany you in your travels. Call me whenever you require my assistance." She leaped toward Link, transforming into a ball of blue light and fusing with the Goddess Sword.

"Everyone, listen a moment," Gaepora said. "The nature of the great apocalypse mentioned in the old texts is a complete mystery to me. But whatever it turns out to be, it seems that all of you have big roles to play in the destiny of this land. Should you heed the call of destiny, I don't know what dangers you may have to face, boys. Especially down there."

Eddy scoffed. "Oh please," he said. "Solid ground down there is way better than living in the sky."

"So you say. But if you've decided to brave the unknown, please find my daughter and bring her back to me. What we've seen here today defies explanation, but it is only the start of your journey. Please, see it through and prove the legends true."

"It's so much..." Link answered with a weak tone. "What if I...fail?"

Gaepora had a sad look as he patted on Link's shoulder. "Ah... I'm sorry, Link. I know it's a heavy load to shoulder, but you're the only one who can bear its weight."

"Hold it! We're in this, too!" Eddy said. "I want to find my pal!"

"Me too!" Ed agreed. "We're in this together like two foods combined!"

"Ed... Eddy..." Link said, but smiled regardless. "Thank you." Sunlight began to pour into the room.

"Dawn is drawing near," Gaepora said. "It has been a long night for the both of us, hasn't it? All of you will have a great journey before you, and those clothes...don't look up to the task."

"Eddy is the funniest," Ed said, grinning.

"Oh shut it, Ed," Eddy said, looking at his revealing clothes.

"This year's uniform should be ready by now," Gaepora continued. "A sturdy uniform like that will prove much more suitable for a journey. As for Ed and Eddy, I think we have alternate uniforms for your size."

"Right," Link said as the four walked out of the statue.

Meanwhile, in an area surrounded by grass and stone walls, two people were lying there. Zelda knew she was conscious, but she was having a hard time opening her eyes. Dirt and sand was all she felt. Finally, she pressed the ground hard enough to get up. The brightness was tough for her eyes, but she eventually adjusted and looked around at this new area. Zelda felt so scared, being all alone in an unidentified area. She sighed in relief when she saw the Goddess's Harp in one piece, but gasped at the individual buried in tall grass. "D-Double D?" She wobbled toward the unconscious boy. She lifted his head so that he would rest on Zelda's lap. "Double D... Double D! Wake up, please!" She shook him gently.

Someone's...calling...me? Double D thought. His last memory was falling down to the black tornado. He could feel pain coursing throughout his body. I'm hurt...so I'm alive? His vision became cloudy; his savior was unrecognizable. This...feeling... It's so familiar. Can it be...?

"Double D!" Zelda felt a bit of happiness when she saw Double D opening up his eyes.

"...Mom?"

This took Zelda by surprise. She never thought he would think of her as his mother. Her eyes blinked three times in response. "It's me, Zelda."

Double D became fully aware of his surroundings. "Zelda? Wha...?"

"Thank goddess we're alive."

"This place... Are we on the land below the clouds?" They looked up to the sky, widening their eyes. There was a huge blanket of clouds. "We're really are here!"

"Good lord!" Zelda quickly looked around more. "The trees... The ruins.. The atmosphere!"

"You're finally awake," an old voice said. They snapped their heads to the source of the voice. It was normal for being paranoid. It was a very old woman, with tanned skin, dressed in dark purple tribal clothes. Her greyish blond braid swung on her right side like a pendulum. A white tear was painted below her left eye. The most striking feature about this old woman was the huge triangular red robe and cape. On the back of the cape was an eye symbol.

"Who... Who are you?" Zelda gripped Double D tightly.

"Cast away your fear, spirit maiden. I mean you no harm." Her voice was calm and soothing.

"Spirit maiden? Are you the one...who's been calling me?"

The old lady chuckled a bit. "Yes... Come, you two. We have much to discuss before time runs dry."

"W-we still need to know your name!" Double D said.

"Impa of the Skeikah tribe."

In Link's room, Gaepora watched Link, Ed, and Eddy finishing up the last touch on their uniforms. "That green uniform, Link," Gaepora said, "is what our knights will be wearing this year. To be honest, I've had my doubts about the color. Bud oddly enough, seeing you wear this uniform, I can't imagine a more fitting color for you. It's as though you were born to wear it."

"Oh really?" Link asked, looking at his full new uniform. From the bottom, he wore brown boots and green pants. Link had three protection on his upper body. He wore a green fitting shirt, a chain mail, and a dark green tunic. Metal arm guards and black fingerless gloves were secured well. With his Goddess Sword strapped on his back, Link placed a dark green elf hat on his head. Lastly, he wore Zelda's Sailcloth around his neck.

"As for Ed and Eddy, I think of the same thing."

"We're like twins, Link!" Ed said, standing next to Link. He was wearing the same dark green uniform like Link, but he was carrying his large backpack. His backpack had two main compartments, one for his wooden hammer in the first compartment. Since he needed to draw out his hammer, the first compartment would always be opened. The second compartment was to store any other items.

Eddy grumbled. "I feel like a nerd like Double D," he said, putting his elf hat, "but bright yellow beats green." He wore a yellow uniform and his large backpack. His Wooden Racket was secured in front of his belt in the same fashion as Eagus, except the opposite. In battle, he would need to unhook two parts before pulling his weapon out. "And I feel stiff."

"You must bear with it, Eddy," Gaepora said. "Your uniforms are your life protection. I must say, you and Ed had graduated very fast." He scanned at the three young knights. "Take care of your journey, and be sure to stop by some of the shops at the bazaar here in town to equip yourself properly for the travels ahead. I will return to my quarters and see if I can glean more useful information from the ancient texts. I will also announce all people in the academy to avoid going to the green light as Fi mentioned. The tornado caused some damage yesterday, so everyone will be at Skyloft. They will not be involved in this mission as it is your destiny."

"Well, that's a weak excuse."

"All of you are always welcome to stop by if you have any questions. May the goddess watch over and guide you both."

"Thank you," Link said as the three exited of the room. Gaepora let out a huge sigh in the room.

In the hall, Fledge saw the three out of the room. "Link!" Fledge said, walking toward them with a small box in both of his hands. "That green uniform looks so...adventurous! You sure look like a knight now." He noticed Ed and Eddy in their knight uniform. "Oh? But why do you two-"

"We're not talking!" Eddy said, giving him the dirty look.

"I-I see! Forgive me for asking!" Fledge decided to talk to Link only. "I'm assuming you're heading out to look for Zelda and Double D. You three are really something else. I could never imagine myself doing what you're about to do. I put a lot of work into making these. Take these with you." They looked in the box to see several brown pouches.

"Thanks, Fledge," Link said as they secured their pouches on their body. "We can store all kinds of useful items in these handy piece of gear."

"I call them Adventure Pouch. It's for...adventures."

Eddy slapped his forehead. "Naw! Really?!" he asked. "I would never guess!"

"That's such a perfect name!" Ed said, grinning.

"You can buy all kinds of stuff at the bazaar for your pouches," Fledge said. "You should all go look. You can even buy some potions and a shield. Please... Find Zelda and Double D."

"We will," Link said as the three continued down the halls.

"Hey, Link!" Cawlin said, frowning. "Out of all of us, how come only you got promoted to senior class!? And what's this?!" He saw Ed and Eddy in their uniform. "Why do you two have uniforms when you two haven't register here officially?!"

"We're not talking!" Ed said like Eddy.

"Talk about stupid calls! On top of all that, Groose won't come out of his room and Zelda is missing!" He stared at Link. "It's all your fault! Way-to-go there, buddy! Some senior-class guy you are!" He ran back inside his room with tears falling off.

"Groose? I forgot about the guy," Eddy said, but shrugged. "Oh well!" The three exited the academy. Owlan and Eagus came out from the main gate.

"It's Horwell!" Ed said.

"No, I am Owlan, the practical skill instructor with white hair," he said. "Anyways, the headmaster told us the news. Zelda and Double D has fallen down through the clouds, and you three are going to look for her. He even told us there's a land beneath the clouds. Do you know anything about that?"

"Yeah," Link replied.

Owlan noticed something on Link's back. "So that's the famous sword... Ah, but for all three of you, you'll need a shield to protect yourself."

Eddy groaned. "More protection?!" he asked. "I already feel slow with everything on me!"

"But it's vital! Take these with you that we bought at the bazaar." He and Eagus gave each of them a round Wooden Shield. There was a white Loftwing's claw printed on the shields. "The Wooden Shield is light and maneuverable, but it's the weakest of all the shields. Also, keep in mind that it's particularly vulnerable to fire."

Eddy held his shield in front of his face. "Wow, I would never guess."

"If your Wooden Shield breaks, you can buy a new one at the Bazaar."

"All right!" Eagus said. "Now that you three have shields, let's go into the Sparring Hall so that I can teach you three how to use a shield properly."

"Good luck, you three." Owlan left them behind. The three walked to the Sparring Hall with Eagus. The Knight Commander quickly set up the shield test. Three horizontal thin logs were tied in the middle and were hung up from the ceiling. A black painting of a Kesse was imprinted on the faces of the log.

"Now remember, Link, that sword you're carrying isn't from Skyloft. It's an ancient artifact that can only be carried by the chosen one, but that's not enough. It's time you all learn the secrets of defense."

"We're ready," Link said with Eddy and Ed by his side.

"While trying to attack while on the defensive, keep this in mind. Every time you swing your weapon, you move your shield out of the way, thus lowering your guard. That would be the moment of weakness your enemy will attack...assume your enemy is smart. Try it out for a couple of seconds." All three of them had their weapon and shield. As they practiced in their own space, they realized that Eagus was right when their guard was down.

After a couple of brief tests, Eddy smirked. "Hah! This is nothing!" he said.

"I'm assuming you are all ready for the shield test." They stood in front of their Keese log. "If you ready your shield right before an enemy attacks you, the force from your shield arm will repel the enemy's attack. This technique is called a shield bash, and it will make the enemy recoil, giving you an opening in which to attack. It's very useful against enemies who throw weapons at you or just refuse to give you an opening for attack."

"Yeah, yeah. I think we get it."

"Don't get too cocky, Eddy. You are about to fight lots of real battles. Pulling off a defensive shield maneuver requires perfect timing. Believe me, you absolutely don't want to miss. Try it out with these logs. Hit them with your weapon and use the shield bash only." The three started their shield test. When they bashed the log harder, the log harder would do the same. When it became more harder, the force could push them away.

"I think I got this!" Eddy smirked until the log pushed him too hard, making his whole body defenseless for a few seconds.

"Careful, Eddy! Keep your defense strong at all times. I want to see these logs faster and stronger. Your enemies will be like that!" They continued their training for two minutes. Eagus grabbed the logs to stop them. "Very good! I think that's all I have to teach you! Always review the basics from now on."

"We will. Thank you," Link said. His friends did the same.

Eagus's eyes were at the verge of tears. "Good luck out there. And...please come back safe and sound. It was so fun teaching." Link, Ed, and Eddy went to the central part of Skyloft, which was the Bazaar. It was bright in here due to many lanterns in place or circling around the pole. Each section in this huge room had a shop.

"Let's go to each shop." First, they stopped in front at a potion shop. A powerless and frail husband, named Bertie, was stirring the bowl with a baby strapped on his back. The baby would sometimes cry, forcing the husband to calm the baby In contrast, a sharp and enthusiastic wife clapped around, trying to get customers.

"Hey you!" the wife named Luv said. "Welcome to the number one Potion Shop! You can drink our potions when you need it. Let me tell you, one look at you three boys and I can tell you'll need my potions by the cauldron full! So don't try to slink away without stocking up."

"Um, ma'am...?"

"Oh, I forgot to ask if you have an empty bottle. Just so you three know, I can't sell you a potion if you don't have an empty bottle to pour it into."

"Well, that sucks!" Eddy said. "We wasted our time, so let's-"

"Not so fast! For some reason, I like you three, so I'll give each of you an empty bottle for free. Just remember to come back here anytime."

"Thanks, lady!" Ed said as they obtained their bottle. They examined each of the five cauldrons.

"As of right now, I have one cauldron ready, which is this red thing. This is a Heart Potion. They will heal you more than using one Recovery Heart. It's 20 Rupee per person."

"What?!" Eddy said, gawking. "We have to pay?!"

"Come on, Eddy," Link said. "We'll regret this if we don't buy them. Keep in mind that our Rupees are shared, so it's vital we use them in our adventure."

Eddy growled. "Fine, but we better have more Rupees in the end!"

"It's a deal." They paid a total of 60 Rupees by the combination of Eddy and Link's wallet. Link had to carry his savings for this adventure. One by one, they scooped a bottle full of red liquid.

"This will be my vampire diet, Eddy!" Ed said, grinning.

"Let's hope it's not actually blood," Eddy replied. There was a shop parallel to the Potion Shop, so they went there. The shop had various of items such as a Wooden Shield. The salesman, named Rupin, was extremely creepy. With pink cheeks, he was grinning so much that it looked like he could not frown.

"Ahaa!" Rupin said as grasped his hands. "A customer! Hello there, my friends!"

"This guy sure is nice!" Ed said with a smile.

"My shop carries the finest products you'll find anywhere. What are you buying?" They looked at a couple of items in sale. There were nuts, arrows, and bombs in the front.

"Sweet! A bomb!" Eddy said.

"Sweet! Arrows!" Ed said.

"But...we don't have the necessary items," Link said. "We don't have a special bomb bag to carry a lot of bombs, and we don't even have bows."

"Don't give up, my friends!" Rupin said. "Perhaps there are other items that catches your interest. One such as yourself has a keen eye."

Link examined the items around. "Hey look, you guys! Sailcloths!"

"Sailcloths?" Eddy said Several white Sailcloths were stacked up in a pile, except they had no crest of the goddess.

"I have one, and you guys don't. We might need these if we fall from a great height. How much for two?"

"Excellent choice, my friend!" Rupin said. "It's 30 Rupees per one, so 60 Rupees is the grand total!"

"We'll take it." They paid the price, allowing Ed and Eddy to wrap their Sailcloth around their neck like Link. After leaving Rupin's shop, they went to the next shop. The female salesman, named Peatrice, looked very bored with her hands on her cheeks. She was blonde with ponytails and a white hood. A beauty mark was on the left side of her nose. "It's an Item Check. Knights use these to store their items. Eventually, we'll start to carry too much items during our adventure. We'll have to register, first." The three knights stood in front of the shop. "Hello. We would like to register for your service."

"Sure, sure," Peatrice replied with a voice that would come from a farm. "Just sign your name here." They put their name on the paper before leaving.

In a small room, Eddy saw the same gray treasure chest from before. Eddy, with Ed's help, tried to open it, but it still would not work. "Come on! Why don't these chests open?!" he asked.

"You've seen this chest before?" Link asked.

"Yeah. It was when we first came to this world." All of the sudden, Fi appeared in front of Link, which Eddy yelped out. "Don't jump out so suddenly, Double D 2.0!"

"Master Link," Fi said, ignoring Eddy's comment, "this treasure-chest-like-object is a relic of ancient times, left by the goddess for her chosen hero. However, I lack any information on how it can be opened at this time."

"You think these chests could be connected to the Surface?" Link asked.

"I calculate a 75% chance of that to be true." Fi returned back to Link's sword.

"Well, what are we waiting for?! Let's get a move on!" Eddy said.

"Eddy is getting exciting," Ed said.

In the next shop was a man in dark-skin color. He had a helmet with goggles, which he tried to move them because he could not see through the lens. His teeth were oddly independent of each other. Since his yellow shirt was small, it showed his biceps more. "Heyyyyy! Welcome to the Scrap Shop! Call me Gondo!" he said. "I can use the stuff you find to upgrade your gear and make it even stronger! And if your shield takes a beating, no worries. I can fix that, too."

"Stuff?" Link said. "You mean things like...claws and blobs?"

"Yup! Those kind of things."

Link looked at Ed. "This shop is going to be very useful for us. It looks like we better collect more from now on."

"More mementos!" Ed said.

"You three!" someone said. Next to the Potion Shop was a small man with huge cheeks. His hair was tied up, having a ball-shape hair. His clock covered his whole body from the neck down. Unbeknownst to them, despite his height, he as kneeling with his feet flat on the floor. The bottom cloak was not black, but a burnt brown. In front of him was a big crystal ball. The feature that struck them the most was his sparkly blue eyes. "Please, come! For I, Sparrot, shall tell you something important."

"What?" Link asked as he and Eddy raised their brow.

"Oh, what calamitous visions appear before me... You may choose not to believe me, but my eyes foresee a hazardous, thorny road ahead for you three. But I can foresee what will befall you, for I am a fortune-teller!"

"Oh great..." Eddy murmured, remembering his fortune-telling scam.

"Trust my piercing eyes... Listen to my pure and innocent voice. Normally, I seek 10 Rupees to tell a fortune, but this time I will charge but 1 Rupee only."

"We'll do it," Link said, handing Sparrot a Green Rupee.

"Yessssss! I knew it! Aha... What a treat! You three are my first customers I've had in a while!"

"Huh?" Eddy said.

"O-oh... I mean... You can trust these glistening eyes." Sparrot rubbed his crystal ball. It looked like the room got dark except for the blue crystal ball. "I see... All is revealed. You are about to head into a densely wooded area. Somewhere blanketed in green... Trees! Everywhere! Yes...but my eyes grow weary. Come see me again if you should lose your way."

Eddy turned to his friends. "Like that stone?"

"They might benefit us," Link said. They decided they were ready to start their mission. When they walked down the stairs, they found a Bird Statue along the way. "Remember, guys. This is going to be a dangerous journey. If we pray a lot, the goddess will grant us protection...sort of speak."

"Her veil shall grant us good luck!" Ed said, praying already. Link saw Eddy who was not praying.

"We'll get a lot of Rupees along the way." Link chuckled when Eddy instantly prayed next to Ed. He joined up with them, preparing themselves to find Zelda and Double D beneath the clouds.
