Chapter 9:
It was silently decided that Elsa would get ready for their date at the apartment with the help of Ruby and Snow, and Emma will get ready at Regina's and will be picking up her date by 6.
To say that Emma telling her parent about her date with Elsa was nerve wrecking would be an understatement.
Flashback:
Emma had dropped Elsa off at the diner, since Red was helping Elsa with tracking Anna down, and headed towards her apartment shared with her very traditional newly found parent, not before a long passionate kiss to one Queen of Arendelle. Emma had been sitting in her car for the better part of 20 minutes with nerves wrecking her body and hands fidgeting nonstop before she started up her bug again and headed down Main Street and turned towards Mifflin Street.
Knocking on Regina's door wasn't as hard as the blonde thought it would be. Swinging the door open, Regina was prepared to chew out whoever decided to bother her.
"Emma?" Regina paused when she saw her new found friend at her door.
"Hey, Can I come in?" Emma worriedly asked.
Regina was wearing a plain red t-shirt and jeans making her look much younger than her actual age.
"Of course. Henry is upstairs." She pointed towards the staircase. "Would you like me to call him down?" Regina asked.
"No, no. I came to talk to you" Emma looked up from fidgeting with her fingers.
Regina motioned for the blonde to follow her to her study at the end of the hall.
"So, what brings you here? There isn't a new villain in town is there?" Regina teased, but both her and Emma knew there was some truth behind her words. The sheriff lowered herself onto the couch near the fireplace as Regina filled two cups with her homemade cider.
Emma gave her a small smile, letting her nerves wash away as Regina handed her a cup.
"No. just the one" Emma said referencing her former foster mother, which Regina didn't about yet.
"Well, then. What's on your mind?"
"So, umm…how do you think my parents would react if I told them that I prefer women over men?"
Regina was quiet for a few moments with a blank poker face making Emma rethink her decision of openly sharing private information with her.
"Well, I don't see why they would react harshly, which is why you came here to ask me this." Emma nodded as relief flooded her body.
"Honestly, Swan. Do you think those two, who rant about hope, second chances, and true love constantly would prevent you from being happy just because you partner is a woman?"
Emma gave Regina a sheepish look and shrugged her shoulders. "Well, I've had to deal with a few rejections throughout my life because of it, so why wouldn't they? But I guess you say they won't, so I shouldn't worry. I trust you."
Regina gave the blonde a grateful smile. "So, who is it that you have your sights on?" the former queen began. "it's not the wolf, is it?"
Emma chuckled before she proceeded to retell Regina the events that occurred between her and Elsa.
****20 mins later****
Emma took a deep breath before walking into the apartment where her dad was holding her baby brother trying to burp him and her mom washing the baby bottles at the sink.
"Hey!" David says as he hears his daughter walking in. he sets Oliver down in his crib and walks to the kitchen while still looking at his daughter.
"Did you and Elsa find anything near the town line?" Snow asks as she turns around to stand next to her husband.
"I'm gay." Emma blurts.
"What?" Snow and David both say at the same time with a confused expression.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I just didn't want to chicken out before I tell you what happened. And I'm sorry if that's not something you're okay with, but I think that it's not that big of a deal and—" Emma was cut off from her rant when she looked up to see Snow frowning and David smirking at her.
"Damn it, Emma! Couldn't you wait until the end of the week?" Snow says as she hands David a 20-dollar bill.
Emma stood there in shock as her father snatches the money from her mother as he chuckles with an 'I told you so' expression at his wife.
"y-you were betting on me?"
"honey, I've known you've like women since the first week you came to Storybrooke." Snow states as she turns around and opens the fridge to start on dinner.
"Do you know when Elsa is coming back? Dinner should be ready around 6."
Emma still can't believe how her parents are acting right now. Regina told her that they wouldn't care, but to actually see it herself is just a little too much. She clears her throat as she walks forward and hugs her father who's been smirking at her since her won some money from his wife. He wraps his arms around her tightly before kissing the side of her head. Emma melts into her father's strong arms and relinquishes the feeling before pulling back and doing the same with her mom.
"I love you guys," she says into her mother's shoulder.
The blonde sheriff finally pulls back before she wipes the smudges of mascara from under her eyes before clearing her throat again.
End flashback
Emma came down from Regina's guest room wearing a short long sleeve black dress that comes down just on top of her knees and a pair of high-heeled ankle boots topped off with her olive-green leather jacket. Her hair was curled to perfection, with the help of Regina, and her makeup was light.
"looking good, Ma!" Henry said as Emma walked down. Regina walked out of the kitchen as she heard the blonde thanking Henry.
"I agree with Henry. You clean up well, Emma" Regina smiled at the sheriff as she handed her a beige handbag to go along with the outfit. "Now, everything is set up and ready to go." Regina said as she fixed a few of Emma's curls even though they didn't need any fixing.
"Thank you so much Regina for all the help," Emma said grabbing the small bag and sliding her phone in. She walks to the front door, ready to leave before turning around one last time.
"Wish me luck!" she says as she gives Regina and Henry a wink before leaving for her date.
Emma took a deep breath, hopped a few times on her toes and pushed her shoulders back before knocking on her own apartment door. Her father opened the door not five seconds after her knock. The look on David's face ranged from happiness and joy to a proud look on his face just by looking at his daughter's eager face. He opens the door enough to allow Emma to slip right in, "they're still getting ready upstairs" he says as Emma walks in.
"That's fine. I came a few minutes early anyways," Emma smiles as she fidgets with the flower in her hand. It's a single white Gardenia flower, which she got from the Game of Thorns. She didn't want to be so cliché and get a rose and she wanted to give Elsa a special flower that somehow reflects how she feels about herself.
Gardenia flower take a lot of work to grow. However, if you can grow it, it is a very beautiful flower and it produces a great fragrance. Emma looks down at the flower and thinks about how she's giving a part of herself to Elsa. She never opens up that quickly or easily to people, but with Elsa…Everything is different with Elsa and she's giving her this flower as a symbol of herself and how much she's willing to give them her best.
Emma leans back at the edge of the sofa as her father comes to stand next to her. "So, where are you taking her?" He asks. Emma looks up at her dad and nudges him with her shoulder.
"I can't tell you that." She starts, "it's a surprise." As soon as the words leave her mouth, Snow comes down the stair quickly with a camera wrapped around her neck.
"Oh, Emma! You look great! Come stand here and let me take a picture of you!" Snow excitedly bursts out snapping picture after picture with her old fashioned camera. Emma thanks the almighty as she hears Elsa coming down the stairs.
The blonde doesn't even notice her mother taking pictures and squealing at each photograph as Elsa meets her at the bottom of the stairs. The taller blonde is wearing a dress that has white, grey, and blue patterns from the top down to the waist and that flares down to the tops of her knees in a solid sky blue color topped with a white cardigan, pearl earrings, and white flats.
"Wow," Emma lets out as she finally smiles at her date. "You look beautiful."
Elsa is blushing slightly at the complement as she tucks a stray hair behind her ear and runs her fingers through her braided hair as if it her hair could have somehow gotten ruined by the time she's gotten down the stair.
"Thank you," She smiles. "You look very lovely as well."
Emma beams at the queen's words before mumbling a shy thank you. She quickly remembers about the flower in her hand as her eyes dart down for a moment.
"This is for you," she says as she hands Elsa the flower.
Elsa takes the flower from Emma's hand and quickly brings it up to her nose to smell. Both women are startled from their bubble when Snow takes another picture that makes both blondes see spots.
"Okay, now. Have fun on your date, you two!" David says as he tries his best to contain his wife who looks like she wants to grab her own coat and go ahead with the two just to take more pictures of them.
"Yeah, we should probably head out," Emma slides her hand into Elsa's free hand as she leads them out of the door and down the stairs. She looks to her right and catches Elsa's eye.
"I hope you're ready for the best first date you've ever had!"
