Chapter 9: Decisions, Decisions

I walked into the Clubroom with a jovial spirit. My recent stunt in the Drama Club was enough to lift my spirits, despite the murder that recently happened.

Sayori, always the cheerful, uplifting girl she is, greeted me in a manner that suggested otherwise.

"Hey, Dana," she said, unenthusiastically.

"Hey, 'Yori," I replied. "You doing OK?"

"Yeah, just a little under the weather."

"Well, if there's anything you need, and I mean anything, tell me. I'll be more than happy to help you."

"Sure, Dana." She seemed to cheer up, but I knew she was going through something.

Maybe it's a menstruation thing, I thought. That phase is typically quite unpredictable.

I saw a familiar shortness standing in front of the closet. I didn't know what Natsuki was doing, but she appeared to have something on her mind.

"Penny for your thoughts." I sidled right beside her.

"Sorry. My thoughts are a quarter apiece," she responded.

"Steep prices. Didn't think there would be that much demand for your thoughts."

We both chuckled at our little joke. I don't know why, but Natsuki was something of a relief for my mind. Anything I needed to vent, I could rely on her.

"Dane?"

"Hmm?"

"I know you probably have better things to do, and I don't know if you would be interested, but I... wanted to ask... if..."

"What's up, Natsuki?"

"I'm probably going to be in charge of refreshments for the Festival, and it's gonna be a lot of stuff to bake, so I... could use some help."

"Is it really that hard to ask for help?"

Her face reddened. "Well, I'm asking a teenage vigilante to help me bake cupcakes. What do you expect?"

I nodded my understanding. "Well, if Monika's alright with it, I'll be happy to help."

"Great! Oh, you'll need my number. Have you joined the Club Chat?"

"We have a Chat?"

"Yeah, here's the chat ID."

After I typed in the ID, I was in the Chat as TheGreatDane.

"OK. You'll be able to send me private messages if you want. Just select my icon."

I looked at Natsuki's icon, which was a cupcake with googly eyes and a candle. It looked kind of... cartoonish. Her nickname was Buffsuki.

"Nice nickname," I remarked. "Sayori come up with that?"

"Yeah, she did," Natsuki replied.

"How is she doing? She's a little under the weather."

"I don't know. I don't think it's her period. That usually happens at the beginning of the month, and it's currently late September."

"Well, menstruation is as reliable as a cat with boxes, but it does seem out of place."

"Not to mention that her cheerfulness usually increases tenfold around that time."

"Why the hell are we talking about Sayori's menstruation behind her back?"

"Because we're fucked-up as shit?"

"That's true."

We laughed and continued talking about random subjects until Monika said, in a loud voice,

"OK, everybody!"

We then turned our attention to Monika. Everyone was gathering around her, and we all stood in a circle.

"OK, it's time for Festival assignments! Sayori's working with me on the pamphlets. Natsuki, you got refreshments. And Yuri?"

"I-I can make d-decorations for the c-clubroom."

"Good! Boys, who do you want to work with?"

"Ah..." Taro was thinking his hardest since his 9th Grade finals. "I guess I'll help Yuri."

"N-No offense, T-Taro." Yuri looked in my direction. "B-But I'd rather have Dana help me. I t-think he's better w-with knives, my p-preferred tool."

"Well, thank you for the offer, Yuri." I glanced at Natsuki before continuing. "But me and Natsuki are going to be working together."

Natsuki gave me a nod before turning back to the circle.

"Oh, s-sorry, Natsuki. I didn't k-know that you already had p-plans."

"It's fine, Yuri. Making decorations isn't as hard as baking, though."

"Yeah, t-that's true."

"OK, it's all set! We'll see ya Monday, unless fate brings us back together! Ahaha, just kidding! See y'all!"

Ayano's POV

I heard their plans for the weekend.

Damn! If Sayori works with the President over the weekend, we'll never get to her! And I thought the Club was too small for participating in the Festival!

No worries. We'll wait until Monday. Since she usually sleeps in, we'll slip into her room and kill her there. Nobody will know until it's too late.

I couldn't help but smile at my plan. With Sayori out of the way, I'll be with my Senpai for as long as we live, no matter what.

No matter what.
