Special:
9. History of Gast
In life we are faced with choices. We do what we think is right, but the right thing can many of times lead to all sorts of unforeseeable chaos. Think. Have you ever been faced with a choice which has ended in disaster?
Cheers roared and echoed across the white metallic city which reflected the rays of light from the three stars of Namek.
In the centre of the city littered with sky top building surrounded by blue grassed hills, stood one singular oval shaped castle was a pair of white antennas sticking from the roof. The side of the castle was decorated with navy blue portholes which were lined in a zigzag pattern and they joined up at the top to meet with the larger blue porthole. The courtyard was paved with the blue grasses of Namek and was nearly entirely covered in a crowd of Namekian's; most dressed in white tunics and a hand-full of others at the sides of the crowd were in white armour.
"Today my children will mark a new age: the marking of a new Guardian." The old Namekian spoke. He was a dark shade of green and covered in wrinkles like the other Namekians he wore a white tunic only his had a blue cape with a white insignia on the back.
Gast Carcolh was bowing on his knee, dressed in his own white tunic and cape like the Elder.
"You may stand my son. It is time."
Gast rose.
Silence amongst the crowd.
Only few of the oldest members of the crowd could remember the last ceremony where the current Grand Elder Snail was elected for Guardian. For the young this will be a sight that they will never forget. This wasn't just a union of two Namekians, but it was a union of many years of thousands of incarnations becoming one new individual. A Grand Elder to his people and a Guardian for the sacred Black-Star Dragon Balls which were said to have been brought here around the time of Planet Namek's birth.
The Namekians knelt in respect for what was about to transpire.
"Now place your hand upon my chest, Gast." Grand Elder Snail said.
Gast extended his hand slowly, placing it on the centre of the Elder's white tunic. He closed his eyes and lowered his head in concentration.
Grand Elder Snail closed his eyes.
His face began to radiate white. Yet his face was calm, tranquil. He began to chant quietly and his body burned whiter and brighter with each passing moment as everyone watched in awe. Just before the light became too bright his form began to evaporate into white glowing particles which flowed into Gast as calmly as a flowing river.
His body jolted a little when the sudden sensation of energy rushed through his veins. A warm and oddly familiar swarm of new power gushed all around his body. It was far more strength than he could have ever imagined having. Not just power ran through him, but new knowledge, information, wisdom and memories that were now his also joined his mind.
He slowly lifted his head up eyes opening a smile forming on his face. Grand Elder Snail was gone: never to be seen again only to be heard in Gast's subconscious. His hand was still held out in front of him. He looked at his hand a white glow which was gradually dimming, but no major difference. With that he started twisting his body around, flexing his muscles and clenching his fists. He felt like a whole new man.
He turned to the crowd and yelled at the top of his lungs. "I am Grand Elder Gast Carcolh!"
The crowd roared in front of him and applauded.
Ten years later...
"Greetings Master Slug." A voice came from outside drawing Gast out from his meditation.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"You may enter." He called, standing up.
The black door around the white door frame opened. A muscular Namekian, Slug, entered. "Gast." Slug said, bowing. The room was small and barren: white fall, walls and roof. Only Gast's desk at the far end next to a small blue porthole viewing the blue grassed courtyard, and a purple carpet which filled the centre of the room on which Gast used to meditate.
"So what was said at the meeting with the Kaioshin's?"
"Just the norm and the Northern Supreme Kaioshin still wishes for us to join forces and has made a request to meet with you to discuss things again."
Gast paused. "Again...? Did he mention anything of this Majin Buu?"
"Yes. According to him Majin Buu and the one who claims to be his master are currently terrorising the western quadrant: rumours are that the threats becoming severe and they're discussing on whether to send the Western Supreme in or not."
"This is troublesome. If the Kai falls we'll have to utilise a Planetary Lock and we'll have no choice but to intervene. I'll organise a meeting with the Kai's and discuss-" A voice cut him off.
"Oh my, I really do not understand why you feel the need to be so careful. Not when you have what you have at your disposal."
Slug immediately turned to the door in reflex. His and Gast sight shot to the voice in the door way. Standing in it was a miniscule creature, it had an elongated cranium covered by a black helmet with a white calligraphic M, large bulbous eyes and its skin was a dark green. He wore an orange robe which covered him to his feet, with pencil thin arms crossed behind its back and two large whiskers falling from its chin.
"Who are you, how did you get here and what do you mean at our disposal?" Gast lowered his brow, clenched fists ready to defend.
The creature smirked. "Well firstly my name is Bibidi. Secondly I have my ways and finally I think we both know about your wish-making Dragon Balls: any wish anyone wants you could wish this Majin Buu away could you not?" Bibidi grinned.
Gast frowned and flicked his wrist. The draws of the desk behind him opened and seven cracked orange orbs with various black dots floated out to Gast and circled around him.
Bibidi's eyes lit up as he fixated on the orbs.
"These cannot and will not ever be used. The Kai's of old entrusted my race to guard these spheres." Gast said soberly and flicked his hand back causing the seven cracked spheres to travel away and lock themselves into his desk once more.
"But any wish you want? Only a fool would not exploit those precious jewels." Bibidi raised his voice.
Gast shaked his head. "I will not break the promise. The Dai-Kaio of long ago has stated that even though me and my previous self's are connected with these: the Dragonkin are not to be exploited for our own selfish gains."
Bibidi looked up at Gast with a small frown. Then it stirred into a smile and he bowed slightly. "If you say so Gast," Bibidi turned his back to them. "I trust that you'll make the right decision soon."
"Wait what do yo-" Slug was cut off my the-
Thffft, with that Bibidi had vanished.
Slug turned to Gast. "Those Dragon Balls are sacred Gast. I'd advice that you do not show them to every stranger you meet."
Gast stood silently.
Slug stepped out of the room. Gast watched him turn and shut the door before turning to sit crossed-legged and begin meditating.
"So Northern Supreme how's the day?"
Gast was wearing the royal white armour of his race and was sat cross-legged across from the Northern Kai, on the large grassy plains of the Kaioshinkai Planet. Around him he could hear the running river and quiet gossiping of the other Kai's.
"Of recent we're dealing with the usual affairs." The Supreme replied. He was short, stubby with pale skin, a white Mohawk with two bangs which stretched across his bushy eyebrows and white moustache. He wore the traditional blue tunic of the Kais. "This Majin Buu and his Master who we know nothing about almost seem to have arisen from nowhere we have no clue quite what their species is."
"This is not the Namekian's problem. You and the rest of the Kaioshin's as the highest of authority have to sort this problem out on your own." Gast frowned flicking his fingers and a glass of water appeared which he took a sip from.
"Don't be a fool. This could very well become your problem and you know it." The Northern Kai shot a glare and lowered his brow. "If these two are allowed to keep running ruin then they will eventually find Namek like the rest."
"And you think we aren't prepared for this threat?"
"I most certainly do not think you are." The Supreme of North retorted. "What I don't understand is why the Kaioshin's and the Namek's: the most intellectual and oldest civilisations in this Universe cannot put aside their differences and put a stop to this threat once and for all."
Gast glared. "We Namekian's are pacifists. We are opposed to violence unless it's in protection. Unlike you Kai's who have shown many times that violence and harm is the only way you operate." He paused. "Even if we are opposed to violence it doesn't mean we're weak I for one am close to being on par with you Kaioshin's."
"You know what I mean."
Gast shrugged. "Than what do you want us to do? I've told you before if this Majin Buu or his master lay foot on Namekian soil we would know – and if they start causing chaos we will stop them."
"I'm afraid you haven't yet seen the power of this Majin Buu, he would destroy the Namek's and Kaioshin's if we don't attack him together. Unless-"
"Unless what?" Gast cut him off abruptly.
The Supreme took a breath. "Unless: we use the Dragon Balls."
Gast immediately stood up. "No. I refuse you all know of the story and the first Dai-Kaioshin and the first of my incarnations Gast Carcolh made it law they are never to be used." Gast glared and took a breath to calm himself. "You sound as if you dare run the risk of them returning."
"Maybe so, but you and I also know that they were turned into eternal dragons that must obey us. Fear of what could happen is the only thing stopping us from using them: remove that fear and think of what we could do with those Dragon Balls."
Gast shaked his head. "What happened to you all?" He asked almost sadly before teleporting, leaving the Northern Supreme Kai to sit by himself.
"And if we don't use the Dragon Balls then what?"
The Southern Supreme's hard voice boomed through the room. He was heavy and powerfully built, standing tall at least eight foot in height, a large square jaw along with his rounded head and red Mohawk. He wore a pair of potara earrings and a blue tunic uniform like the other Kai's except his was much larger. He was sat with the other Kai's of the four quadrants and the Dai Kaioshin who sat at the far end of the well polished mahogany table; that was centred with a large crystal ball filled with the empty dark space and twinkling stars.
"And by using the Dragon Balls we'd essentially be reconnecting the Ryu-Shin Realm to our Realm which our ancestors worked so hard to seal away." The Dai-Kaioshin said. He was a little shorter than the South Supreme, a round pudgy face and body. Unlike the other Kai's he wore a purple tunic with a black vest and a purple cape to symbolise his rank on the hierarchy.
The Western Supreme shot a baffled look. She had a heart-shaped face and her white hair fell down her back. "You're being absoluty absurd. When our ancestors sealed the Dragonkin all those aeons they did it for not only for the greater good but for the Kai's of the future: us. Studies have been completed and there is strong evidence that we can use their magic for our own greater cause." She said and turned to the Northern Supreme. "Isn't this right Northern Supreme?"
The Northern Supreme nodded. "This is right." He placed his fist into his other open palm. "It would be so simple, we'd only have to summon this Eternal Dragon spirit and Majin Buu and his Master would be revealed for us to finally contend with."
"...I'm not quite sure it would be that easy." The Southern Supreme cut in. "From what I hear of your meeting with Gast Carcolh today it seems he won't allow us to use them."
The Northern Supreme eyes trailed to down a look of sadness on his face. "He is determined to keep the promise of long ago."
"It's ridiculous." The Western Supreme frowned. "We Kaioshin's are the rulers of all the Realms. This Gast's afraid of an old fairy tale... If we wish to use the Dragon Balls then we should be able to use them without question."
The Dai-Kaioshin's squinted eyes opened slightly and his pupils narrowed. "Speak carefully Western Supreme," He uttered. "You may be entitled to say what you wish, but whatever nonsense that comes to your mind must not be spoken within our holy temple. Additionally, I for one shall not allow you to ruin our friendship with the Namekian's who have been allies with us since the beginning I may add."
The Eastern Supreme gulped silently. He was the youngest of the Kai's and had never seen his leader unleash such a display of silent rage.
"The question is however am I speaking nonsense?" The Western Supreme sneered. "All of the Supreme's here have thought and spoken of the same thing time and time again. We could save so many lives if we just used them."
"No!" The Dai-Kaio slammed his fist into the table causing a loud bang to shakily echo through the room. "We'll deal with Majin Buu and his mastermind without tarnishing our ancestor's wishes!" He breathed in and out bearing his teeth several times before slowly lowering his head. "Please. You're all dismissed."
Slug the mentor of the Fighting Class of Namek's observed his students. Some were meditating on the blue hill near the white monastery on the crest of the hill. A small group of others who were a few yards away from him were practicing Ki control and self-defence techniques.
A muscular but lean Namekian dressed in white armour spun away calmly from a punch and landed a spinning kick on another Namekian who skidded across the dojo's tiles.
"That's perfect Deroceras." Slug shouted.
Zip.
Slug turned. "Grand Elder Gast. So how was the meeting?"
Gast sighed. "Not so good Slug. They want to use the Dragon Balls to stop Majin Buu..."
"But you can't..."
"...And I won't."
Slug nodded. "Good. But what if Majin Buu comes here?"
"The last I heard he was still in the West Quadrant, it would take them at least a month even on even the fastest of ships to get to Namek. That gives us plenty of time to activate a Planetary Lock. I'll keep close watch and give sufficient warning when they approach."
The Western Supreme sat in her white throne with her hand upon her small pointed jaw. 'No matter how much we Supreme's argue the Dai-Kaio refuses... His opinion his is only thing that stands; whatever we say doesn't count.'
She lowered her brow, closing her eyes. "We - the Kaioshins are the Supreme rulers over the realms, we made them so it's absurd that we don't have possession of the most powerful items in the Universe!"
"...I completely agree with you..."
The Western Supreme whirled around and snapped her eyes open. There slowly walking out the shadows was a small hunched green figure, with an orange cloak and bulbous eyes.
"How? This is the Kaioshinkai how is that you can step foot in this world." She shouted, jumping to her feet.
"Oh easily I've been here before and I'm no threat. I'm just here to help you." Bibidi grinned.
"Help with what exactly?" The Western Supreme clenched her fists on guard. 'Just what is this thing? It feels as if mine and its auras are pushing away from each other: as if they're polar opposites.'
Bibidi's grin widened showing his teeth. "I have some information to share with you about Gast Carcolh and the Dragon Balls."
The Supreme's eyes widened with interest. "Speak."
"I read Gast's mind he intends on using the Dragon Balls against you all."
"But the Northern Supreme said that he was against using the Balls?"
Bibidi put his hands behind his back; he took a step and began circling her. "Ah now you see that is what Gast may say, but I assure you the Namek fears you Kais and your power. What might it take: one more meeting for old Carcolh to be pushed over the edge, awaken the Eternal Dragon to destroy you all?"
There was a silence.
"I know..." The Western Supreme looked to the ground. The thought had crossed her mind and she knew if she allowed the Dragon Balls to stay in Gast's possession her and the rest of the Kaioshin could be wiped from existences before they knew it.
It could even happen now.
"Why are you so determined to help me anyway?"
"Me?" Bibidi shrugged. "No particular reason really. But, I just don't see any logic in someone having these wish-making Dragon Balls in their possession when they won't even use them unless they get too afraid of course: at least I know with you Kaioshins having them I will feel better that they're being put to good use, you see?"
The Western Supreme sat down in her throne, legs crossed. "You make a good point, how do you propose we take the Dragon Balls?"
Bibidi grinned before turning his back to the Goddess. "Ah all I need from you is to wait. I'll handle the rest." The small creature walked forward a few steps before stopping. "Oh and if you hear of anything let me know."
"Just how am I supposed to contact you?"
"Think of me. Your thoughts will become my thoughts." Bibidi waved his hands and vanished.
The Western Supreme bowed her head and thought carefully.
Gast sat at his desk in his study room. He held and stared at the white oval egg in his hands for a moment, before placing it back in the cupboard of his desk which had a heat lamp and small purple pillow which it lay on.
He looked at the black door, thinking, before his attention was cut back to the desk. He flicked his wrist and the draw opened with it the seven cracked Black-Star Dragon Balls began to levitate out and circle him.
"These can never be placed in the wrong hands." Gast sighed. "They're no longer safe here."
He closed his eyes.
Bibidi and Western Supreme Kai appeared in Gast's study room.
"I sensed him here a mere moment ago...?" The Western Supreme asked herself. She flicked her long white hair away from her face.
Bibidi chuckled. "Ah this is wonderful!" He walked to the desk where he'd seen Gast keep the Dragon Balls. 'Soon the balls will be within my grasp and with this idiotic Kai and Gast fighting I'll be able to escape unnoticed.' Bibidi thought as he opened the draw and looked inside. His eyes grew wide and his jaw dropped.
Empty.
"Where are they?!"
Then the door slammed against the wall.
"It's you!" Slug shouted. "I knew you'd be back."
He opened his eyes. He was no longer in his study room of his palace. He was no longer on his home world planet Namek. Now he was surrounded by nothing but ice and snow.
The cold breeze ran across his skin causing him to shiver. So he relaxed and let his white aura flare around him for warmth and watched the seven Black-Star Dragon Balls circle around him; an ominous feeling seemed to wrap around him when he stared deep into the cracks of the balls.
Gast lowered his brow with confusion. He looked around. Something else caught his attention.
Then he saw it.
Above him was a sort of pink smoke with green sparks of electricity netting around it. 'Just what is that?' Gast thought. An ominous feeling crawled over him. 'It feels so – so empty...'
'...It will have to wait.' He turned back to the black starred balls. Frowning he flicked his fingers and a black rectangular container appeared out of nothing but thin air which dropped on the floor and sank into the snow a little. He knelt down, opened the container and delicately placed each sphere into its semi-spherical holder.
He looked at the spheres for one more moment before snapping his head to cloudy skies just past the pink smoke. His eyes widened and trembled which soon followed by his entire white armoured body shaked and twitched. He felt sick, his knees weakened.
He looked back at the container. They can wait!
Clenching his fists, he whirled his head, a furious watery glare in his eyes as he disappeared.
Gast reappeared on the crest one of the blue hills which overlooked the city of Namek. He gritted his teeth and stepped forward.
Smoke, fire, explosions, drowned and flooded the whole city. He could hear each and individual plea, beg and scream.
Gast's face contorted at the apocalypse. Every muscle was flexed. His fists bleed.
His white aura burst to life.
Gast Carcolh screamed with all his pain, fear, hate and his suffering.
"GUAHH!" Slug hurtled backwards through the air and rebounded of the broken and burnt castle wall. He landed on the ground and assumed a fighting position with his legs out wide and his arms in front of him. His white armour was completely torn on the right side, revealing his green muscular arm and right pectoral.
"Dear sir it's not for you to decide." The Western Supreme gracefully landed on the ground, she grinned innocently as her long white hair blew in the fiery winds.
Slug gritted his teeth. "You're a Supreme Kai, what gives you the right to come demanding the Dragon Balls and attack us, eh?!"
She giggled and put her right hand to her mouth. "What gives me the right?" She glared and outstretched her right hand and lowered the left to her side. "I am a Kaioshin, a God of every Realm; I have every right to take and use the Dragon Balls as I please."
"Even if you're a Kaioshin, it gives you no right, just look at what you have done to us. You're nothing but a cold-hearted murderer."
The Western Supreme levitated off the ground. "You dare defy a God sir. You know that we're in a universal crisis with Majin Buu. You know that it is killing the innocents of the Mortal Realm and you have the Dragon Balls: tools that can end the suffering. Yet you refuse to use them, yet you refuse to help, so if I'm the cold-hearted murderer, what does that make you?"
Slug's white aura burst to life. "Your ancestors instructed mine not to use them. I've heard the stories and I won't allow any horrors like that to resurface." Slug squatted down. "And even if it means stopping you!"
He shot forwards.
She smiled. "Foolish," Just as Slug got within punching range, the Supreme's eyes glowed azure and he just stopped.
"Ah!" Slug's eyes darted left, right and centre. He tried to twist and turn but to no avail. He was trapped.
Clank.
The Supreme Kai of the West turned her head to the noise. It was none other than Gast Carcolh in his people's royal white armour. 'Perfect...' She thought, watching him step forwards.
"Western Supreme, w-what are you doing?!" Gast exclaimed, his white aura danced around him. His eyes then darted to Slug, his oldest friend, who now had an azure mystical light glimmering around his frame.
"Me whatever do you mean?" She giggled. She could hear the hum of Gast's Ki. "Oh that's right I was just trying to find those sacred Dragon Balls of yours. Then this one here had the ridiculous notion of denying me."
Gast clenched his fists. "Please. Please just let him go now and this doesn't have to go any further." He raised his voice, panting, trying his best not to lash out.
"Oh come now, that's no way to treat your guest is it?" She turned towards Gast, her eyes still leaking with the azure light of her telekinetic hold, with one hand still outstretched towards Slug. "Please dear, give me the Dragon Balls...and nobody else needs to get hurt."
"Just stop this!" He stepped forwards and jumped when he heard it. He looked up at Slug whose body was twisted in unnatural positions arms and legs bending backwards and sideways and outwards.
Gast's eyes widened. He wanted to help so much but his body wouldn't move.
Slug's face contorted. His forearm bulged. He let out a scream as his radius bone snapped with sickening rip as it tore through the muscle and skin until it popped out his arm.
Western Supreme relaxed her fingers a little and Slug stopped screaming. His breathing was ragged and he looked at Gast with purple liquid dripping his eyes and nose. "Now care to repeat that for me? I didn't quite hear what you said the first time."
Gast stared hands shaking with rage. The screams, the fire, the chaos, he couldn't take it. He looked at Slug once more who struggled but shook his head: his friend knew what he was thinking.
"Remember Gast I only need you alive: this one and the others are of no concern to me and can be extinguished on but a whim."
Gast bowed his head. "Fine, but please just stop this senseless chaos."
The Western Supreme's azure filled eyes returned to normal and her right hand fell to her side.
Slug fell to the ground. "Gast you can't!"
"Follow me." Gast sighed, looking at the ground.
Slug climbed to his feet and ran towards them but the two teleported before he reached them.
"...Oh God no..."
Gast Carcolh and The Western Supreme Kaioshin reappeared on the planet of ice, where Gast was mere moments ago.
"Right this w-"
Gast was stunned into silence. His pupils grew wide and mouth trembled. His eyes trailed down to the black container next to the diminutive wizard's feet.
"Bibidi," The Western Supreme exclaimed. There Bibidi stood grinning with his hands behind back. All seven of the cracked Black-Star Dragon Balls lay next to his feet in a bunch, behind him the pink smoke that Gast saw moment ago now thrashed against the green net of sparks.
"It's so nice of you to join us." Bibidi mocked. "Now Gast I appear to be having some technical difficulties with these Dragon Balls; care to help me out?"
Gast clenched his fists. "W-Why would I help you Bibidi?! I have you and the Kaioshin right where I want you; here I can fight at my full power!"
The Western Supreme shot a glare.
Bibidi gave a malicious smile. "Aha, now I was hoping you'd ask Carcolh." Bibidi pointed up at the pink smoke. "That is Majin Buu." His words earned a gasp from the Kaioshin. "Currently he's no threat. But with a simple click of my fingers and a few words he'll be free to squash you all like the insect you are! Your life will become the cesspool where foil things breed!" He paused to let the words sink in. "Unless of course you release the Eternal Dragon for me."
Gast Carcolh breathed heavily, trembling. He was in turmoil; he didn't know what to do. Thousands of thoughts rushed into his mind: if he released the Eternal Dragon he'd be breaking the promise of aeons ago, he knew of the evils that could be released, but if he refused this new evil would destroy them all anyway. What can I do?
No choice.
"Fine," Gast replied lowering his head. "But before I summon him tell me. Tell me what it is you want to wish for."
Bibidi grinned maliciously at the response. "Ah this will indeed be a pleasurable finale." Bibidi said casually wrapping his arms behind his back and levitated off the ground so that he could look down on the two. "Aeons ago way before the realms of heaven and hell were even thought of; there was conflict. My race the Dragonkin were forced to leave their realm due to natural causes and we arrived in this one. Fearing our power and wishing to cease for themselves, the Makaioshins attacked us and soon after the Kaioshins joined in. We were sealed away. Well everyone except my grandfather anyway. The Kaioshins did do be a favour though." Bibidi gazed at the Dragon Balls. "They sealed my ancestors within them, placed a spell on them so they have to abide to command." He held up his fist. "I will use their power to remove the realms and create my own unique one to rule over!"
The Western Supreme gave a stern look. "It's impossible, the Dragonkin were but a story to stop the use of the Dragon Balls."
"Foolish... Is that what they taught you?" Bibidi mocked.
Gast was about to speak –
"Anyway bored of talking now: release the spirit immediately or..." Bibidi beckoned at the pink smoke with his bulbous eyes.
No choice.
Gast breathed in – and out. The seven cracked spheres glowed response as they levitated of the ground slightly.
The white armoured Namekian closed his eyes that ominous feeling crept over him over more. He lifted and pushed his arms away from him.
"Gast Carcolh." The Black-Star Dragon Balls shaked in response. The storm of black clouds coiled around the skies, dwarfing the size of the pink cloud which floated below them and thrashed even more as if it too was panicking at the sight.
"Now-"
Thunder banged and the purple lightning flashed across the ice planet.
"-Rise-"
The ice below the seven spheres smashed into shards of glass.
"RYU!"
Gast roared his eyes glowed in response.
On response an enormous yellow flash brighter than even the sun surged out from the Dragon Balls forcing the three to cover their eyes.
The light began to shape into something. Something large that seemingly coiled around the entire planet itself.
Black and crimson scales crept out from the light and darkness. A pair of arched red lights blinked emerging from slumber, the massive head stretched for miles above the three. A pair of moss green antlers protruded from the back of the dragons head with two gigantic whiskers coming from each side of its pale jaw.
Gast breathed heavily, trembling.
The Western Supreme stared in dread. A tingle of cold air crept up her spine. 'Incredible...' She backed away. 'I... I was wrong I see now. I finally know why Dai-Kaioshin didn't want to use this.'
"MY NAME IS RYU-YIN." Ryu-Yin's voice boomed around them. "THE FRESH OUTSIDE AIR IS SO DELICIOUS. IT'S BEEN FAR TOO LONG SINCE I'VE WALKED FROM MY PRISON."
Bibidi chuckled. "This is splendid. Ryu's your name, yes I see, I can feel them all within you, you're a representative, a merger of their souls if you will."
Gast's body jolted back, a burning pain caused through his mind. He screamed tears leaked as he fell to his knees and clawed at his head.
Bibidi and the Western Supreme turned to Gast.
Old memories, buried deep within in flashed before him. The original body, the original Gast Carcolh dressed in a white and blue tunic just looked down him.
Ryu-Yin now set his sight on Gast. "THIS ONE KNOWS ME AS I KNOW HIM: WE WERE THERE IN THE WAR. HE RETURNS: GAST CARCOLH THE ONE THAT MADE A PROMISE WHICH HAS NOW BEEN BROKEN."
Bibidi rolled his large eyes. "I hate to break this happy reunion but I have a wish to make."
"I GRANT NO WISHES TO TRAITORS." Ryu-Yin said as a spark of lightning rocketed down towards Bibidi whose eyes widened. He threw out his arms in reflex and a green sphere surrounded him.
The electricity crashed into the sphere and shattered it like glass. The force caused Bibidi to hurtle backwards into the snow. He climbed to his feet and coughed. Malice and hatred filled his eyes. He growled wanting to vent his anger out so desperately. All of his hatred shot at Gast. "You wretched Namek, how dare you let that creature do that to me. You'll pay; I'm going to rip your home apart."
He opened and closed his hands, the green sparks around the smoke expanded and the two vanished.
"No please!" Gast exclaimed but they'd already disappeared. He turned to the Western Supreme. "Please Kaioshin of the West, I can't leave this thing unattended, I need you to help my people!"
The Western Kaioshin glared.
"Please! I'm begging you, if there's any ounce of decency within you, you'll help them!"
She closed her eyes and nodded. With that she was gone.
"I HAVE NO CARE FOR THEM. THEY WILL PERISH ALONG WITH THEIR PRETEND RULERSHIP."
Gast's eyes narrowed, fists clenched and his brow lowered harshly. "I'm giving you one chance. Stop whatever it is you're doing and go back to the Ryu-Shin Realm where you can live your chaotic life in PEACE! There will be no more suffering!"
"I HAVE AN ENTIRE UNIVERSE TO REWRITE AND IT IS LITTERED WITH THE KAIOSHIN'S STENCH: WHY WOULD I LET THAT GO ON?"
"Because if you don't. I'll have to stop you."
"WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF ME GUARDIAN, AN IDIOT?!"
"No... The question is - what do you make of me?" Gast glared and raised his hand to the left side of his chest. White blazing hot Ki blazed around it.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
"Like it or not we're connected. If I die you die."
Ryu-Yin's eyes widened in response. "YOU WOULD NOT."
"If it means stopping you and saving those I care for. Oh I would every time." Gast brought his Ki filled hand above his head and pointed his fingers down like a claw aimed at his heart.
Ryu-Yin's form burned red, the mountains of ice crumbled and shattered and raised from the ground. Gast stumbled backwards and tried to steady himself. The eternal dragons form morphed into a black tornado of energy which rocketed towards Gast.
Just before Gast brought his hand down the mountain of negative energy coiled around him. His white Ki filled hand flared black. His eyes widened and his white armour turned black as night. He shook violently as the energy surged into him.
Then it stopped.
Gast fell to his knees, breathing heavily.
'We are now one...' Ryu-Yin's voice echoed through Gast's mind.
Gast Carcolh climbed to his feet, he shaked a little, the power he felt was extraordinary. Several sparks of yellow electricity jolted around his black armoured body.
He felt wrong. His head jolted back with a fit of sadistic laughter, a blaze of black energy swirled around him. His laugh turned into a roar, energy exploded from his being and detonated around the planet causing fire and ice to burst into the air.
Then he caught himself and looked down panting. He stared into the distance. His once black eyes turned yellow with black irises.
"I...I won't let it control me..."
Looking into the now clear skies above. There... He vanished.
Kaioshinkai...
The Dai-Kaioshin sat on the grassy fields next to flowing river. He lowered his head and sighed.
"I'm sorry Gast Carcolh if I'd known I would have intervened earlier..."
The black armoured Namekian appeared in the skies of Namek. He looked down and growled.
Destruction. Chaos. Suffering. Those were all he saw amongst the flames of his cherished city.
He sensed the Western Supreme's power decline. This Majin Buu was destroying them and he didn't want to risk destroying the planet under their powers. His sadistic grin crept on his face which he immediately shook away. 'Bibidi...'
He vanished from the spot and reappeared amongst in the courtyard of his palace, where he'd been given the title of Guardian: the title he felt he no longer deserved.
Bibidi stood several feet in the distance with his back to Gast.
He gasped, in front of Bibidi lay scattered like garbage his army of Namekians wearing their white armour. He gritted his teeth. His life-long friend Slug was beaten and bruised just barely on the grip on consciousness. Gast heard a faint whisper that only a Namekian could pick up on. '...What has come over you?'
Then out of nowhere. A shockwave smashed in the air and out of it the Western Supreme Kai, blooded with her tunic shredded she fell to the floor. Then a creature stood over her.
It was no taller than a child. Tiny blackish, brownish boots, white baggy trousers with a black belt and the familiar Majin symbol of that of Bibidi. A bare pink body and a pair of black wrist bands over its mitten like-hands. This Majin had a small tentacle stretch off of its head which came down to the base of its neck. Its eyes were as black as the void of space, with red circled rings for pupils.
The creature tilted its head at Gast. A sadistic smile of sharp teeth formed on its face. It started to chuckle.
Gast lowered his shoulder and teleported to Bibidi who turned around to meet Gast's large green hand in his face.
"You wouldn't dare..." Bibidi trembled.
"Seal your monster Bibidi!"
"Never." Bibidi spat.
Majin Buu chuckled and started to stalk forwards.
Gast gritted his teeth. No time. He grabbed Bibidi by the throat and lifted him into the air.
"S-Stop! If you kill me there'll be no one to control Buu. He'll go on a rampage! Do you want that?!"
Gast's hand glowed orange. "I know you don't want to die. Seal Majin Buu and I'll let you go in peace!"
'No kill him. You know what he'll do.' The voice called in his head.
Ignoring it he saw Majin Buu walk faster and then lift into the air.
"NOW!" He squeezed Bibidi's throat harder causing red lines to form in his bulbous eyes. His lungs cried for air.
Majin Buu screamed and rocketed towards them.
"I SAID NOW!"
Majin Buu cocked back his fist now inches away from Gast's face.
"PA PARA PA BAR!" Bibidi gargled. Majin Buu stopped and gritted its teeth. Green tangles of electricity once again sparked around him. He screamed in fright as his form melted and gelatinous slime dripped onto the floor and evaporated into a pink gas.
A hard vein covered sphere rose out of the ground and wrapped around the smoke.
Majin Buu was sealed.
Bibidi fell to the floor, holding his neck, breathing rapidly for the much needed oxygen.
"You...will...pay for this!" Bibidi outstretched his hand and a green net of sparks wrapped around the sphere that held Buu.
Gast didn't look at him. He instead walked towards Slug. He heard the teleport but didn't follow. He had let Bibidi go: a choice which unknowingly to him would lead to so much disaster later.
Gast sat on the debris of his castle in his black armour; the voices of Ryu-Yin ringing in his head. "How many are left?"
"A thousand of us remain from the million." Slug looked down, unlike most Namekians his regenerative capabilities allowed him to look fine physically; the only damage shown was his broken white armour. Inside mentally he was suffering all he could think about was what would happen to his lifelong friend.
"...So few..." Gast looked down.
The Dai-Kaioshin appeared before them looking back and forth at the destruction.
Gast bowed out of respect. "Dai-Kaioshin."
Slug lowered his brow harshly. "You're the Dai-Kaioshin? Where were you when all this transpired?"
Dai-Kaioshin stared with his squinted eyes.
"You can be anyway instantly. You let this go on, you-" He was stopped by Gast who raised his hand for silence.
The Dai-Kaioshin nodded. "I understand and I apologies dearly. I'll send the King's to help repair the damages and the Western Supreme will be disciplined for her havoc. But one thing most be brought to hand." He turned to Gast. "You used the Dragon Balls. From what I've heard from the Western a dragon by the name of Ryu-Yin appeared which you were left with. What happened to it?"
Gast bowed his head. "Long story short: I threatened to end my life which would cause the Dragon to fade. Just before I managed to do this however, Ryu-Yin managed to merge itself within me. I can hear its voice within my head: its intentions I do not know. But the spirit has threatened creation itself."
The Dai-Kaioshin nodded. "I see."
Slug looked at Gast waiting to hear what he was about to say.
"You have to imprison me. Somewhere in a distant galaxy with no life that I could harm, activate a Planetary Lock so that way I cannot escape." Gast looked at Slug.
"...Gast..."
"It was good knowing you my friend. But another thing, no one can remember me; no one can look for me. I don't know who I am anymore but I know one thing - I am the Promise Breaker."
"...Gast..."
Gast smiled at Slug. "Do not worry my friend." He turned to the Dai-Kaioshin. "I will take you to the Black-Star Dragon Balls where you can hide them in a distant world."
"This is very honourable of you Gast." The Dai-Kaioshin replied.
The Dai-Kaioshin had collected the Black-Star Dragon Balls which were no longer cracked; however he still didn't have any desire to use them. He had teleported to a distance world in the Northern Quadrant and as the fate of the Universe would have it in a few million years it would become the Earth. He levitated in the upper atmosphere with the seven spheres rotating around him. He closed his eyes and set the password and with that the balls were gone, suspended in time, waiting for the day that a crazy little Imp with the desire to rule would find them.
Afterwards the Kai's went searching for the last member of the Dragonkin, but to no avail. In just a few short years Bibidi and his Majin Buu would rise.
Gast Carcolh resided on a planet which was made for him some distance in the west quadrant; a simple planet, starry skies with blue grassy hills. For each slow passing year, he made himself a castle: the voices grew louder, thoughts of those to blame grew diverse, and as his insanity grew he would picture himself in events of what could have been with scenarios such as battling Majin Buu. No matter what he did he couldn't relinquish Ryu-Yin's presence from his being. Negativity invaded his once peaceful mind.
This negativity hoped that one day that it would be free and the plan of the Dragonkin would be at hand.
Five Million Years Later...
"Gast Carcolh!" Pilaf shouted his now large budging head throbbed with universal information.
Dende and Mr. Popo covered their eyes from the flash of light which outshined the sun itself.
"Ah here they are. Just like Shenron said. All that we have ever worked has been culminated in this moment." He said as he watched the seven Black-Star Dragon Balls glow brightly.
"Now Ryu rise! Rise and grant me my wish!"
Black clouds engulfed the planet Earth and a massive flash of light surged from the balls coiling around the planet which formed into something crimson. Something that's mere head dwarfed even the Lookout.
Elsewhere...
The Planetary Lock shattered like glass.
And the corrupted Gast Carcolh's eyes opened.
There you have it Gast's back-story is complete.
Hey readers and a big thank you to those who read this. I do hope you enjoyed it!
This one was a both fun and frustrating to write. Combined with me running out of the free time needed to write it!
A few things to note. I am quite happy with how all of this turned out, but I'm not positive about the characters. Bibidi I'm not sure if I got his dialogue correct I watched some episodes of DBZ with Babadi in and went from there. The Western Supreme I wanted to make into a corrupt and paranoid character with the notions that the Kai's would be overthrown.
Anyway now for the comments:
Q: Great chapter dude. I really liked how Krillin and Gohan both had time to shine unlike a lot of after Z stories are.
A: Thank you I appreciate it! Yeah I'm trying to give everyone a chance unlike the original GT of just mini Goku Time. I can assure you they will have more chances to shine; I'm planning something with Krillin a hand to keep up, I just hope it doesn't disapoint people, haha.
Q: I loved the reintroduction of the demon minions - they were one of my favourite things about Dragon Ball! I like Gasts development as well, he's becoming a curious character and certainly away from a straight up villain. Looking forward to seeing his backstory.
A: Yeah I always wanted them to make a little return. Tambourine was always my favourite of the demon minions and I tried to give Nerite a few of his characteristics as well if anyone noticed. Well I just hope the backstory came to your expectations!
Q: It's good to see the other characters get involved and an interesting shift in focus away from Goku, Trunks, Bra and Pan's adventures (though I suspect they'll be returning to Earth soon enough to find things a bit wrong).
A: Thanks. I've planned the shift for awhile now in hopes to give other characters a chance. Ah you may suspect right; I'm not telling but one will help.
Q: Curious to see what's going to happen next - the darkening sky would seem to suggest that either the dragon (one of them) has been summoned or something really powerful is emerging. Your control and pacing of the action is really impressive - I can visualize everything that's happening perfectly!
A: You'll find out soon my friend and I appreciate your interest and feedback, thanks! I'm currently reading your Dragon Ball XV now and expect a review soon!
