I don't own Pokemon!
To start off the chapter, I'd like to do a couple shoutouts to some reviewers!
First up is a guest who has reviewed twice, first saying LOL GOOD STORY, I certainly agree, and then said that this was a nice story! Thank you!
Last but not least is foxchick1 who laughed just like I did at my own writing when Snivy slapped Ghetsis and then also said that this was a very addicting read!
I hope the both of you enjoy this new chapter, and everyone keep reviewing!
Chapter 9: How Do You Collect Dream Mist Again?
Thursday, October 31st
"Vine Whip!"
"Incinerate!" Snivy screeched when her vines caught fire. I was furious. No one does that to my Pokemon and gets away with it! She rolled out of the way before the rest of the flames could reach her.
"Now go in for a Fury Swipes!"
"Counter with Vine Whip!" Snivy hopped backwards, smacking Pansear's claws away from herself.
"Lick Pansear!" Chili's Pokemon was even faster than Snivy, and dodged all of her vines before rolling his weirdly long, slobbery pink tongue all over the front of her. I cringed at the sight. That was on of the single stupidest moves I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. Snivy, as you would expect, was pissed, and there went any chance of her listening to me for the rest of the battle.
Her light brown eyes went wide, but the grass type immediately recoiled by slapping Pansear with one of her vines. She then used Tackle, ramming into the other Pokemon without any input from me. After that she quickly used Wrap, trapping Pansear in a tangle of vines. As the grass snake Pokemon squeezed the other, she continuously used Leer.
"Get out of there Pansear! Use Work Up!"
"Paaa!" Pansear's body was surrounded by a red aura, raising both it's attack and special attack.
"Now use Incinerate!" With Pansear's current predicament, even with Work Up, Incinerate was thankfully quite weak, though Snivy was still hurled backwards with a blob of fire. She had to pat the flames on her shoulder out with her vines, leaving a bad burn.
"Careful Snivy!"
"Sni!" The Pokemon snarled at me. I grit my teeth, trying not to lash out at her. She was in pain.
"Fury Swipes again!" Pansear came flying at Snivy, slashing at her from every which way, until she fell over onto her back.
"Come on Snivy, you've got this! Get up!" Snivy propped herself up on one arm, slowly but steadily getting to her feet. "You've got this!" She glared up at her opponent with a look that could kill.
Suddenly, the sassy little Pokemon before me began to glow. A jungle green aura surrounded her. Then, the aura poofed, becoming even brighter and larger than before, like Snivy was covered in green fire. Even her eyes had turned the color of burning emeralds. I pulled out my Pokedex to find out exactly what was happening, I mean, if Snivy was evolving, I was all for that, but it also would be pretty cool if she had learned a new move.
"Growth, a normal type move which increases both the user's attack and special attack." I'd been about to put the device away, but it continued. "Overgrow, an ability only known by grass type Pokemon. It increases the power of grass type moves when the Pokemon is in danger."
"Alright!" I exclaimed. "Double power up! Use Vine Whip Snivy!" Once again, Snivy disobeyed my direct order, but for once I wasn't entirely upset about that. The grass type jumped high into the air, and an ominous green wind began wildy whipping around the room. Leaves appeared from nowhere and entered the whirlwind, centered around Snivy.
Dishes were thrown around the room, shattering pieces which were also picked up into the hurricane.
"It's Leaf Tornado!" Someone in the room shouted, though I wasn't really sure who. My bangs were flying around, and my ponytail was threatening to come undone. I had to hold onto my hat to keep it from being ripped away. Holding on tightly the rim of my cap, I grinned.
Inside the attack, Snivy turned upside down, and Leaf Tornado was thrown at a shocked Pansear.
"Stop it Pansear!" The fire monkey blew fire at the tornado, but it did little to stop the attack. Pansear was sucked up inside of the attack, and Snivy flipped once more, causing herself to exit the hurricane. She landed softly just feet in front of me.
Pansear however, was still caught inside, and remained that way until he and the attack was thrown into the nearest wall at the back of the room.
"Pansear!" Chili shouted, and ran to his Pokemon's aid. Snivy stood panting.
"Pansear is unable to battle, and Chili is out of usable Pokemon! Which means the winner is the challenger, White and Snivy!"
"You know it!" I pumped my fist, and readjusted my hat. Snivy however, appeared less enthusiastic. She fell to one knee on the carpet. Without a word, I ran out to the grass type.
"Hey girl, are you alright!"
"Vee." She pushed my hand away, and attempted to stand, but only got a few steps before she had to kneel again.
"We won you know. Thanks Snivy. We won our first Badge." The grass snake turned her head just slightly. I could only see half of her cocky smirk that I was growing to love. Then Snivy fell down again. I sighed, and scooped her up in my arms.
After standing, I was approached by everyone in the room. The Gym Leaders, Alex and Bianca, and even Lillipup ran up to me yipping joyfully and licking my bare legs.
"You were epic!" Chili extended a fist, and I bumped it with my own.
"Thanks man. You too."
"I have to admit as well, you were quite impressive White!" Cress added.
"You and Snivy and Lillipup were just great White, just great, I want to be strong like you someday!" Bianca exclaimed almost too fast for me to understand, whilst also hugging me from the side. I looked up when Alex put his hand on my shoulder.
"Although your methods were a little... destructive." Cilan muttered quietly. Chili then pulled a small shiny object out from his pocket, and rubbed it with his sleeve before presenting it before me.
"After being defeated, I, Chili, one of the Striaton City Gym Leaders, and opponent of White... Uh, what's your last name?" The red haired man whispered to me, earning him a slight chuckle from me.
"Can we just keep it simple Chili? I wouldn't want to confuse anybody with my whole name thing." He grinned, winked, and nodded.
"Anyways, I lost, I fought White, and I am a Gym Leader, so therefore I present to you the beloved gem of our city, the Trio Badge!" Chili placed the surprisingly small object into the palm of my hand, and I held it up towards the lights. I held Snivy gently in my other hand.
The Badge was about the same length as my thumb, and kind of shaped like a bow tie. The majority of it was carved in gold, but in three separate diamond shaped pieces on the front was a sapphire, an emerald, and the smallest one, a ruby. It glinted. I placed the Badge in front of Lillipup first. He sniffed the object, then licked the front of it. I laughed and scratched the top of his head. Next, I put it in front of Snivy. She opened her eyes just barely, smiled, then went back to sleep. I pulled my blue Badge case out and clicked it open, gently placing the small object in it's place.
"I guess we really are trainers now, huh guys." I clicked the case shut and placed it back into my handbag.
"Oh, this is also for you White..." Cilan handed me a TM, number 83 according to the writing along the top of the small machine. "It contains Work Up, if you want to use it."
"Thanks you guys! Now we have to get going, I'd like to get a headstart on our way to Nacrene, maybe even catch up with Cheren,"
"Please my lady," Cress kneeled before me, and the lady killer even dared to take my hand and kiss it gently. "Please stay for a wonderful dinner served by yours truly." The other two men kneeled at Cress' sides, posing.
As much as I hated to turn down a free meal, I wanted this awesome feeling to last. I wanted to win my next Gym Badge. Like now.
"Sorry guys, but I really-"
"Stay,"
"Stay,"
"Stay!" Oh Arceus. Now they were singing.
"Please Sta-ay!"
"NO!" I shouted, quickly landing a punch on each of their strange haired heads. "I am leaving right now!"
"Tell that to the vein popping on your forehead..."
"SHUT IT ALEX!"
"Rup!" Lillipup added, only taking after me slightly with his tiny little growl and furiously wagging tail. I then stomped out of the restaurant, with my Pokemon running excited circles around me and friends on their way.
I jumped down the five or so steps outside the restaurant, and was well on my way to the Pokemon Center when a woman one might refer to as hot stuff. She wasn't slutty or anything, just big... in the areas that can qualify you as a slut. She had long dark hair, with bangs that were held back with a pink flower barrette. She also wore light pink heels and black rimmed glasses. Other than that all I could see besides her long white lab coat was a pink shirt underneath.
"Hello there!" She exclaimed, stumbling over towards me. She obviously wasn't accostomed to walking in those fancy shoes of hers. "What's your name?" Her smile almost sickened me. This was basically the older, bigger boobed version of Bianca.
"Who wants to know?" I squinted at the woman, involuntarily stroking Snivy who was still asleep and curled up in my arms. The woman giggled, her cheeks rosy, and I took a step back. I heard Alex and Bianca arrive behind me.
"Well, my name is Fennel, maybe you've heard of me?" I raised an eyebrow. "Professor Juniper was supposed to mention me?"
"I guess you sound somewhat familiar..."
"Great!" Fennel jumped up in joy, and I took another hobble back, right into Alex and Bianca who were curiously watching. "Well, she asked me to see you all, White right?" I nodded apprehensively. "Spectacular! Follow me everyone!"
"Uh, no?" Fennel spun back around on her toes, face already full of pain.
"Why ever not?" I pointed in an irritated manner to the unconscious grass type in my arms.
"I've got to stop at the Center first pinky."
"Oh, well I will be waiting with anticipation at that apartment right over there!" Fennel pointed to a large brick building just across the street, then skipped straight into traffic towards it. Luckily it wasn't heavy enough that she got hit by a bus or anything. I sighed, shaking my head, and kept going towards the Pokemon Center.
Nurse Joy happily took both of my Pokemon in the back to be healed, and I decided it better to go see Fennel and see what she wanted before they were done.
Just inside the building, Fennel waited in the hallway.
"Great, there you guys are! Come with me!" She lead us towards room 4, at the back of the hallway. "So, you're going to meet all of the Pokemon in Unova, am I right White?"
"Planning on it, yeah." Inside the room was what looked like a normal family. An older mother and father, and a teenage girl.
"Who are these people Fennel?" The woman rolled her eyes and answered.
"Just some people mom!"
"Why don't you get a real job?" The teenager asked.
"Shut up Tiffany, science is a real job!" Fennel grabbed my arm and started yanking me up the stairs, Bianca and Alex in hot pursuit. "Don't even look at them," She told me. "My family is just the worst! I am a scientist and that's that!"
"This..." Fennel spun around, her arms flailing. "Is my room!" I wanted to puke. At least the puke would have added some character to this torture device for hardcore men and women everywhere. Literally, everything was pink, from the plush carpet to the ceiling, the bedspread, the curtains, the tablecloth and chairs, and even a pink, weird as Wooper machine hanging ominously over the bed.
"Okay, so like I said before, I, Fennel, am a woman of science! And, I'm researching trainers! I met Professor Juniper while we were in college!" I rolled my eyes. Don't see how that concerns me... "She told me that you guys would help me out with my research!" I sighed, and cautiously lowered myself onto a soft, awkwardly low to the ground chair, careful not to contaminate myself with that awful color. Okay, I'll admit, it isn't really the color itself that makes me want to scratch my eyes out, the baseball cap I wear is half pink. It's more the quantity of that specific color.
"Do I have an option?" I boredly asked. Alex lightly hit my shoulder in response. I grunted and stomped on his foot. Bianca laughed nervously and changed the subject.
"Anyways, you were saying Fennel?"
"Well, there is this place called the Dreamyard just outside Striaton City. I'd like to collect Dream Mist from there, a Pokemon called Munna gives it off." I made an ugly face.
"Collect how?" Fennel either didn't hear me, didn't care, or simply did not like where that question was heading.
"Using it will help me to get this device up and running!" Fennel patted the strange machine next to her bed. I sighed again, seriously thinking about turning down the favor.
"We'd be glad to do it Fennel!" Bianca sung before I could get around to denying the request.
"What exactly are we doing again?" I asked.
"You three are going to help me find a Munna!"
"And why can't you do this yourself?" I retorted again.
"I think a trainer's touch would add to my chances!" Fennel smiled sweetly again, and I felt nauseous. This atmosphere was really getting to me.
"Fine, let's get going though." I stood up, using Alex for support, and began to carefully drag my injured foot down the steps. I couldn't wait for that week it would take for my ankle to be healed enough for me not to walk like a retarded zombie.
Fennel and Alex waited outside the Pokemon Center while Bianca and I retrieved my now fully healed Pokemon. I'd made her go inside to ask a very important question.
"So Bianca, when are you going to challenge the Gym?" It was obvious something was up when my usually perky friend began to fidget. I raised one of my eyebrows at the young blonde and elbowed her in the ribs gently. "What's up Bianca?"
"Well, I don't want to make you mad or anything..."
"Mad about what?"
"I was just thinking that... Maybe challenging the League isn't really for me?" My marine blue eyes widened just a little. I wasn't sure what I'd been expecting, and this wasn't a bad thing by any means. Just kind of surprising I suppose.
"I don't know, but right now the idea of facing so many powerful trainers just to become Champion, it doesn't sound so great. Actually, it terrifies me!" She laughed nervously, playing with her hands in front of her. "Besides, I wouldn't want any of my Pokemon to get hurt too bad." I felt one side of my mouth quirk up.
"Why would I be mad about that kid?" I placed a hand on my friend's shoulder and smiled at her. "That's just like you, and I wouldn't want you to be any other way!" Bianca's emerald eyes lit up. I wondered if she were about to cry tears of pure joy.
"Really White?" Before I even had the chance to nod, I'd been caught in an embrace. "Oh you're just the bestest friend in the whole wide world!" I chuckled, patting Bianca gently on the back before prying her off of myself.
"I know, I know. Now let's get going, I really want to get this whole Fennel thing over with.
Thursday, October 31st
I was hoping to get the Dreamyard arc over with, but that'll have to wait until next chapter I suppose. Thanks for reading everybody, please review! Criticism is always welcome!
