Avatar just stared for a few seconds, blinking her eyes several times, to make sure she wasn't hallucinating. It was difficult for her to believe that they finally managed to get a hole drilled through. Reaching into a pocket on her belt, she grabbed a hold of a few small balls and flung them at the hole in the leg. The balls popped open releasing seedlings. She then bent them, moving the water until the roots touched one another. By combining them together, she created a length to climb and to keep the hole from being bent shut.

"Strike team, come on this our chance! The rest of you, keep the enemy busy, this battle isn't won yet," Avatar commanded. She ran between the confused soldiers until she reached the roots and started climbing up with Red Arrow. Her three friends from this world, five of the original six, plus Batman followed her lead getting inside as fast as possible.

Entering the Mecha, they fell under enemy fire pretty fast. Metalbenders used their uniform decorations to create restraints aimed for them. Scattering, Batman and Nightwing rose up on grappling lines throwing pellets of quick drying cement at the feet of the metal benders halting their movement.

Footfalls echoed as the elevator popped open as alien forces carrying super charged electric guns appeared. They jumped on the ceiling, the walls, and some ran down the corridor at them.

Team Avatar fell into position. Red Arrow took aim and fired arrows at the ceiling covering the aliens in non conductive foam. Bolin shot balls of lava on the left wall as Asami used her engineering skills to freeze the aliens in their tracks on the wall. The real surprise was from Mako and Avatar, as both used lightning to knock out the aliens before redirecting their extra energy outside the hole.

Mako gave Avatar a small smile. "Good to know all those practice sessions panned out. You okay?" he asked as he looked into her eyes. Avatar took a deep breath, closed her eyes for a second, and stood still for a minute. Opening them again she told him she was okay.

"I lost a little strength and am in some pain, but I promise I can handle it."

Superboy cleared his throat to get her attention. "So, what's the plan?" Beside him, Nightwing brought up the hologram blueprints. He highlighted key areas that needed to be attacked. "According to this, we need to take out the main power core while disabling the weapons before getting to the head to take on Kuvira and Darkseid."

"I'll take disabling the Spirit Cannon loading system with Tigress and Asami," Kid Flash spoke up. He looked at Asami who patted her tool kit. Quickly she tied her hair up in a ponytail. Between her knowledge of Mecha's and his speed, hopefully they could take out the Spirit Cannon.

"We're going to head to that blaster and do the same thing. Without both weapons this Mecha won't be that hard to destroy," Superboy stated as Miss Martian hovered near nodding.

Red Arrow nodded, before addressing his friends. "Mako, Bolin, go with Batman and Nightwing. Between the four of you, I'm sure you'll find a way to disable the power source. See if you can get justice for the spirits while you're at it."

Nightwing nodded as he realized where the last two members were heading. "Be careful and stay turbed!" Nightwing said, as he cracked a joke to ease the tension. A faint smile appeared on his friend's face as they all hurried to where they needed to go.

Superboy and Miss Martian were the first to arrive at their destination. Miss Martian had density shifted through the layers of the Mecha as Superboy had taken the maintenance tubes to get up there. Before opening the hatch to get out, Superboy drew back his fist and slammed it against the plating, making sure that he didn't punch through.

Above him, the troops wobbled and fell to the ground, thinking the Mecha took a hit, from outside. They were entirely unprepared for an angry young adult to pop out of the hatch and use two haymakers to take out two soldiers like it was nothing. "Capture him! The Empress will want to deal with him personally!"

The Metalbenders went to work, pulling off panels, changing them into solid weapons. Superboy let them hit him, he may not be a full Kryptonian, but he did have their invulnerability. As they bounced off him, he touched the fallen projectiles, using his tactile telekinesis. Instantly, the pieces of metal reshape themselves, becoming a single sharp spear. Using his heat vision, he heated up the metal and hurled it at the Metalbenders.

They waited, ready to turn it back at him, when some invisible force tossed them back into the elevator. The doors shut just as the flaming spear struck it. Someone caused the elevator to a fall until it was stuck between floors. The doors melt together as the spear was pushed back. They heard heavy footsteps and the sound of someone ripping apart the controls leaving them stuck in the shaft.

"We need to get out of here! Try bending the doors open," One soldier suggested. A companion tried, but the heat from the spear had melted all the tiny bits of earth lefts. "I can't, there's nothing to bend," was the reply.

"We could take the trapdoor out and bend our way back to the blaster," another Metalbender suggested, but another one pointed out the layer outside was pure platinum and the shafts had a security system inside that would incinerate them. It seemed that they were trapped. Hopefully Kuvira would be merciful and spare their lives. Not likely though.

Back up in the loading room, Miss Martian was using her telekinesis to remove the firing material. "Superboy, can you get the tanks for the flamethrower?" Superboy nodded, blowing ice over the tanks to keep them from accidentally blowing up. Gently, he removed them and placed them aside. Using his enhanced vision, he realized something. "There are at least three redundancy systems for the weapon loading alone. We'll have to destroy this entire arm to ensure the weapon is nonfunctional." Miss Martian agreed with him as the couple thought to rip away all the controls. Both she and Superboy paused. With his hearing and her telepathy they could sense trouble coming their way.

"I'll stall whoever is coming, just finish with taking apart that blaster!" Superboy order her, with a grim look on his face. A nonverbal communication passed between them for a minute before Superboy broke it. Tugging on his gloves, he stood his ground near the hatch ready to defend his girlfriend from any harm.

It was uncomfortably hot and the stink of metal and root rot filled the air. The power lines to this area had been cut in places so only a few dim lights remained, with shadows playing tricks on everyone's eyes. The flapping of wings could be heard as Tigress pressed herself up against an alcove. She tasted blood on her lips. She was tired, exhausted, and her muscles screamed for relief, but she couldn't give up. "I wish Aqualad was here, he could just erode all this metal," she whispered to herself.

Spirit Gun fire went off, attacking her alcove. She grabbed the wall and started climbing up as fast as she could. She swung herself over into the next alcove as the Parademons flew around. She didn't know how well their night vision worked, she gambled though it was pretty powerful. A blast from one Parademon's weapon, destroyed half of her alcove, forcing her to dangle with only one hand hold. She swung herself, trying to get another hold, when a cyborg airbender pulled her right off her perch and started battering her around. Three other benders started attacking her from all sides as she struggled to get out of the cyclone.

The airbender cyborg, had a half shaved head. He paused in his attack, keeping up to one hand as he up to adjust his half creepy metal face with the other. "New orders in. Obliterate the enemy by whatever means necessary. For the glorious Darkseid."

"For the Glorious Darkseid," the others cyborgs echoed. Tigress felt herself be slammed into the opposite wall as rocks rose and created shackles on her wrists and ankles. Water whips cut off her side holster. The cyborg firebender leveled his flamethrower at her. His mark was her heart. He fired straight at her heart.

In the dark, no one witnessed Tigress having secured her crossbow before her shackles appeared. Her tiny arrow had wrapped around the wing of a passing Parademon, who pulled her free before the blast was even fired. Swing upward she wrapped her legs around the creature's neck and applied a lot of pressure. She ignored the crack as she pulled herself up, cutting off the wings, quickly attached them to her back and flew after the Parademons.

In the next two minutes she had done what was necessary to stop the enemies from attacking. She got a glimpse of Kid Flash running out of the elbow and heading downward.

"Tigress, new plan. Asami and I discovered Kuvira has at least four redundant loading systems to power this thing. Asami's taken care of one, I'm taking four. Can you help her with two and three babe?" He radioed her as he went by in a flash.

"Copy that, heading to new destination." Some power had been restored to this section so she easily saw Asami. The young engineer pumped her feet and jumped trusting Tigress to grab her. "Nice jump."

"Nice catch, we have to hurry though. Each redundancies has its own loading area connected to different storage rooms. If we can take them out, the resulting energy explosion will free the spirits," Asami barked at her.

In the chest area, the other team had also discovered Kuvira's deep planning. The initial scan hadn't penetrated enough to reveal the complexity of the Mecha's design. Shutting off the core wasn't enough anymore, they had to completely destroy the two cores.

Nightwing had plugged his holocomputer into a terminal as Batman used his hacker module to get detailed information about the second core. "Alright, Mako and Bolin, you'll have to do the manual shutdown first of the spirit core," Nightwing said, bringing up a live video feed of the room. "These are the two switches you need to pull together."

"I thought you said, the manual shutdown wouldn't turn off the core," Bolin pointed out. "So why do you want us to waste time doing that?" He felt a spike in temperature from his limbs. He pulled away before he could drip molten rock on the young man.

"Shutting off the core manually will force the soldiers in the cockpit to switch over completely to the second core. That gives you and Mako a chance to destroy the spirit core."

Mako nodded understanding. "I get it. Without the first core, they're going to be forced to draw completely on the second one. The more power they use up, the less power the Mecha has to attack everyone outside. They'll be two busy trying to save their precious core."

"They won't have that core for long either. Nightwing, I'll need your help disabling it. You two, remember once you've finished destroying your core get out. This is not a time to play hero, understand?" Batman glared at the brothers. Both of them put on a brave face and headed to their core as Nightwing and Batman went further down deal with the second.

In the cockpit, the drivers of the Mecha, started to get really nervous as they reported the news of intruders. Kuvira listened patiently before calmly stating, "Activate the secondary security system. Redeploy our people to the most critical areas. Give them the kill on sight order. Seal this cockpit off and be prepared to activate the emergency escape plan."

"At once Empress. Your will is ours to carry out." The drivers quickly did as she asked, even going as far to prep the third layer of security should they need it. Kuvira nodded as she crossed her arms at the wrists, clenched them, before thrusting them forward palms wide open. Outside the cockpit she watched in delight she caused the Future Industries building to crumble to bits. Her Spirit Cannon obliterated the train station and nearby buildings. The mini data screen in her eye told her that she had just successfully obliterated three entire neighborhoods and took out some members of the Hope Sector, who had been hiding there.

"I hope you're enjoying your first taste of a real blood killing. It's almost euphoric. Nothing will ever feel as great as this moment. You have the power to conquer a world and crush the subjects," Darkseid whispered, squeezing her shoulder as he kissed the back of her neck.

"A power that only you, could have given to me. Without you, I am nothing. Once we're done here and take both the Spirit World and the other Earth, nothing will hold me back until I find you the Anti-Life equation," Kuvira whispered stepping into his embrace and slightly twisting into him as she provocatively used her body to give him pleasure.

"As ambitious and loyal as ever. You are the key to finally taking over New Geniuses, my dark prodigy. I can picture it now, High Father being killed by a single blow from you," the alien overlord hinted. His voice was a bit husky as started to grope her body. All this time the drivers kept their eyes locked outside the windows.

Kuvira waited until he was done before she used her metal bending to chock the drivers for a few seconds. "Raise the other Elite immediately. If they've finished up with the civilians, then they should be here helping us."

The vid screens appeared in the air in front of them. Darkseid, tapped a few buttons on his wrists. Five screens were brought into focus. Tapping each screen with his hand, he activated the two way communication. "My Elite, report. Have you finished with your assignments?"

The screens fizzled and made static sounds before clearing up. The images were still a bit out of focus. Darkseid was very displeased that no one answered his question. "Elite, Furies! Respond right now!"

"Glorious Father! I apologize for not answering right away," Kalibak responded. He stood still long enough for his father to observe his surroundings. The beast had managed to get into the bunker, but none of the civilians were near him. He moved in a complete circle showing the civilians behind a blast door while two little life forms rode on top of an armored Nanook.

"Mommy says it's rude to talk to other people, when you were having a con.. conver..., you were already talking to someone," Lian's voice carried. Kalibak brought up his club. Something knocked out the communicator. It took several minutes to reestablish contact. A visual appeared on screen, it was Rohan wearing a crude mask holding the communicator.

"You meanies, why don't you go back where you came from! My godfather will bring you to justice," Rohan, (Arrowhead), informed them. He threw down the communicator, giving them a brief glance at Lian, whacking Kalibak, on the head, with a borrowed staff from daddy. It looked like Nanook was using his weight to keep the alien pinned, biting into his flesh. The young airbender took a stance and destroyed the device with a single air slice.

Darkseid was very disappointed. He was about to issue new orders when the entrance to the cockpit blew open, revealing Avatar and Red Arrow. Avatar got in a bending stance and Red Arrow took aim. "Kuvira, formerly of Zaofu, you are under arrest for crimes against humanity."

"As the Avatar, Darkseid, you and your people have trespassed into our territory and tried to destroy three worlds, yes I know about the damage your Boom Tubes cause to my friends home," Avatar hissed, her eyes starting to glow as her spirit levels grew immensely. Her voiced echoed with the power of her past lives. "You shall be dealt with at once!"

Kuvira fired a cable, pulling a lever. The drivers felt their part of the cockpit drop away as they remained stuck to the neck with a thin glass cover. The rest of the cockpit transformed into a small space craft, with its own mini Spirit Cannon attached to it. It set off on a preprogramed flight towards the Spirit Wilds to enhance the Cannon's power.

"I was told you two were the greatest power in this world. I'm not impressed by it all. You are nothing against me or my greatest Elite."

"Talk is cheap," was all Red Arrow said. Grabbing his secondary weapon, his jii, he spun it around and thrust the spirit energy blade in a downward slice. Darkseid was surprised when it actually left a thin cut in his armor. Glaring he tried to use his telekinesis and manage to force the young man back, only for Red Arrow embedded his weapon in the plating steadying himself.

Avatar had launched a similar attack, shooting two high pressured water jets at Kuvira, who blocked with her crystal bending. Slices of metal came after Avatar, who created an air shield. Two fire whips lashed out as Kuvira called down a normal rock from a ceiling panel to block the attack. She wanted to go all out, but in this cramped space there was no room.

After the cockpit turned space craft took off towards the Wilds, firing off its own weapon, the others stayed with the Mecha. A little bit later the entire thing blew up and fell over, the heroes managing to get to safety. The destruction of the Mecha appeared to be a signal as thousands of ships and troops stormed Republic City. The forces of good were spent, only a miracle could save them.

Dr. Fate was part of the miracle as he appeared through a giant ankh appearing high above the Spirit Wilds. "It is time to return things to their natural order! I the Lord of Order command it!" Across the globe, spirit portals opened in the other nations. In the Earth Kingdom, in the Si Wong Desert on the Si Wong Rock, a spirit portal opened. In the Fire Nation, in the Bhanti Village Temple, another portal emerged. In the lands that belonged to the Air Nomads, a portal appeared just above the Western Air Temple. The portals belonging to the Water Tribes grew in size and strength as they connected to the others.

Chanting a spell, Dr. Fate used a strong magical pull to hook onto anything of Apokolypition origin and started pulling it through the portals. At all the entrances, Tempus, Hoa or another Spirit, waited to free their friends and anyone else that needed. The Fog of Lost Souls waited at the Boom Tube entrance, wiping everything and everyone's memories of this place, as the Reserves used their tube modifications to check the flow for anything that was missed in the initial memory wipe or destroyed because it would cause the Apokoliptions to remember what they did. The process was slow and steady, but it was working well.

On board the space craft, the four inhabitants fell to the floor, as a stray ankh struck them. Magic and technology didn't work well together as magic caused the engines to stall. Panels in the cockpit were fizzling. They had lost all control of the craft as it careened towards the center of the Spirit Wilds.

"Time to bail. Hold on," Red Arrow yelled at his girlfriend. A quick buzz saw arrow cut a panel of glass off. Getting a little cut up, they jumped out. Avatar summoned a tower of earth to land on. A rock dome covered them under protective layers. They could feel the heat from the explosion trying to get through.

Avatar clutched her head. A memory from Aang's life, he was trapped in an earth dome, with Fire Lord Ozai, pounding on it to kill him. Fear was threatening to take over. "No, no, no!"

"Avatar, Korra, it's not real! Aang's memory is not yours! Take control, don't let the chaos win," Red Arrow whispered to her. Varuna had told him what was going on so he acted. "We'll be okay." Avatar smiled, before her eyes flashed white. Grabbing him, she tunneled down through column and popped back up between two trees. Bending moisture from air, she flung ice claws at an incoming crystal shards. She did a spin kick sending an arc of flames towards Kuvira, who bent up a wall of earth.

"So you survived. Good, I wanted to personally cut your heart out with my own sword," Kuvira said pulling out her butterfly sword. Raising the blade, she sliced it halfway through a tree causing it to cry out in pain. Removing it, Avatar's computer zoomed in on the blade and the brackets on Kuvira's arms. She was stealing spirit energy to enhance her own power. "I'm the most powerful female here."

"Can't detect your own lie? This place is where I can thrive." Both of them slammed their feet on the ground getting a seismic reading. A split second later, Avatar drew out her own boomerangs and tossed them. Her aim was true as three of them managed to cut Kuvira's skin, while the earthbender's sword sliced clean through the other three. Avatar, used the weapons as a distraction as she moved closer and physically shoved the Empress with her shoulder, knocking her back a few feet. She started punching at Kuvira, whose mesh responded automatically, altering her uniform and skin to protect her from physical hits.

While the girls were clashing, Red Arrow was dashing about trying to locate the mini Spirit Cannon. As the Spirit's Champion, it was his duty to ensure justice and reason was carried out for both spirits and humans. Destruction of that weapon, would ensure some of that.

"How much further in the Spirit Wilds is it? Can you tell if it's operational still?"

"Ten meters to the northwest. I'm sensing a strong amount of power contained inside. The Wilds are also getting stronger because of it. I believe that rock creature is messing with it. How many spirit arrows, do you have left?"

"Two, let's hope it's enough." He neared the area, where the mini cannon was hanging between two branches. Ducking behind a tree, he saw Darkseid lifting the thing up with one hand. His massive hand was creating a handle out of his former control band. The Dark Overlord aimed it right at the hidden hero, knowing where he was!

Without hesitation, he reached for two arrows and fired them, before running in the opposite direction. Behind him, two quantum arrows, wrapped themselves around Darkseid and the cannon creating massive mini explosion. An angry bellow filled the air as he ran. He fired a few special arrows all over. He silently apologized to the Wilds for the destruction that was about to happen. Varuna assured him they understood what was going on and would forgive him.

As Darkseid pursued him, he ignored the arrows. These primitive devices wouldn't hurt him. Firing the weapon he enjoyed watching the destruction of the nature around him. He hated nature! The spirit energy kept going until it was stopped by a spirit energy net held in place by arrows and vines. Energy restored, the Wilds lashed to capture Darkseid.

The alien allowed himself to be captured as the branches reached out and took the weapon away. He didn't even put up a fight when an oozy pod popped up and he was encased in it. The Wilds started sucking his energy out as they attempted to drain the immortal of his life force. Still he did nothing.

Something wasn't right. Both Varuna and Red Arrow agreed on this. Everything instinct inside was telling them that this wasn't right. Darkseid was too powerful and arrogant to allow himself to be captured. Red Arrow moved closer in, aiming a spirit arrow at the pod as the area all around him started to rot and die. He dodged to the left and rolled as the Spirit Cannon fell to the ground.

The pod exploded as Darkseid used his tremendous strength to break free. In the blink of an eye he was behind the hero, his striking hand wouldn't have broken Red Arrow's back if he was anyone else, but being the Spirit's Champion gave him limited protection. The New God used his speed and strength to toss the young man around as if he was a mere pebble used in hopscotch. Red Arrow couldn't even fire a shot at him.

"I was hoping for more of a challenge. My dark love told me all about your strength and special gifts. That you carried a powerful spirit inside you. One of so called justice and reason. Against an ordinary human, you might have an advantage, but to me you're not even dirt to step on," Darkseid lectured the young man. He watched in amusement as the hero tried to stand up, but couldn't. He was dying right before his eyes. He laughed to himself seeing the young man choke on his own blood. "I grow tired of your interference. Once you're gone, I can finally twist that spirit inside you to do my bid…" Darkseid stopped talking at that moment, because for the first time in a long while he was in pain!

Varuna's markings appeared all over the hero's body as they worked on one. One hand was on a live spirit tree as it graciously replenished the duo. The hand with the mark on it, fired a powerful beam of energy that pierced through Darkseid's skin into his chest, before it nicked his black heart. He responded with his Omega Beams that collided with a spirit arrow. A burst of spirit energy thrummed as the wilds responded with their own energy.

The Spirit Cannon came to life, hovering in the air, before firing into the Wilds, beams of spirit energy growing bigger and more powerful. A ring of all the elements flew into the small clearing. Kuvira appeared on the edge, being pushed back a bit by Avatar. Both were swinging their weapons at one another trying to land a blow.

Kuvira skidded back before creating an earth wall, to separate her and Darkseid, from Red Arrow and Avatar. The couple drew close together as the wall went down. The evil couple fired the cannon adding more spirit energy to the area. Red Arrow/Varuna threw up a spirit energy shield adding more spirit energy to the area. All the added spirit energy activate the Wilds as purple spirit energy started firing everywhere as it pushed its way into the city.

Avatar didn't need her computer to tell her what do next. Her own spirit guided her as she entered the Avatar State. Thousands of lives joined her as she bent, turned, and twisted the energy. Her body screamed in pain, chaos and despair started to fill her mind and spirit. With one powerful move, she merged the spirit energy together, creating a Spirit Portal that swept the four of them up and deposited them in the Spirit World.

Avatar slumped towards the ground only for Red Arrow to hold her up. "You did it, you managed to save the city. You're amazing." He looked around their surroundings and the strange beauty. They were in a valley of yellow grass and purple cliffs. An explosion of color flowers and orange trees sprawled out as a light blue lake reflected back the beautiful red sky. A few hills dominated the landscape.

Avatar gave him a weak smile. She was very proud of herself. Suddenly her eyes went wide as she pushed her boyfriend to the ground as metal shards flew over her head. In a panic, she flung her cable only for it to be cut in half. Red Arrow grabbed some seedlings from Avatar's belt, chucking them on the ground, watching as the spirit energy caused them to grow into a thicket.

Their protection was torn to shreds by wood bending. Both heroes stood up in disbelief. Darkseid and Kuvira, were holding hands together, looking at them with madness. Kuvira had a shard of the cannon embedded in her side. She pulled it out and no blood was spilled, proving her immortality. A dark aura had formed around them as both of them prepared for another around. "You have got to be kidding me! Are you two crazy? You're armies are gone, the Elite are defeated, any weapons of mass destruction destroyed. Even I can feel it, in the air and you two still want to fight?"

Darkseid chuckled, "You are naïve if you believe I would cut my losses at this point. I have lost much, but I have gained much. This world is in ruin, I can come back when I wish to gather resources," he said, placing his hands behind his back and staring him down.

Kuvira flicked her hair behind her and dusted herself off. "I'm tired of our pathetic world. I will become the Empress of your former home. All will bow down to me and my beloved. An entire world, solar system, the universe will belong to him. With me by his side, there will be a new universal order!" Kuvira raised her fists in triumphant, laughing manically, ignoring the beeping from her hip, where her Parent Box was attached.

Avatar struggled up to stand, giving Kuvira a pity filled look. "Hir was right, you are sick Kuvira. What happened to you? How did you go so far to lose your mind and become a monster? You need help." Avatar stood up, breathing hard, but a look of resolve on her face. She intended to keep her promise to Hir. Hopefully this final battle would nudge the Box into acting. Pressing her wrist, new music got ready to play.

The hero couple looked at one another, with love and trust in their eyes. They both were injured, exhausted, and on the last legs. The dark couple might have the advantage in power, but they had the strength of love from everyone who cared about them. That love was their power. Facing down their foes, the four of them attack each other, as the new music played.

The Power of Love by the music cast of the original Sailor Moon

There comes a time, when you face the toughest of fights. Searching for a sign. Lost in the darkest of nights. The wind blows so cold, you're standing alone.
Before the battle's begun, but deep in your soul, the future unfolds, as bright as the rays of the sun.

Avatar fired a lightning blast, catching Kuvira off guard as her metal attracted it. Bending them off her and attaching them to her sword she now had a longer reach. Using seismic sense, she tracked Avatar as the young woman moved about. Using her enhanced powers, Kuvira floated the sword in the air and shoved it forward, cutting into Avatar's right side, sending her nerves into overdrive as pain went up a hundred percent.

Seeing an opening, the mad woman stomped her foot spreading lava all over the ground. Red Arrow fired cooling agent on the lava, going after Kuvira. He swung his bow at the mad woman. He connected striking her face with the razor sharp string. She attacked him as he brought up his bow in defense. Like Tigress, Green Arrow had taught him bow martial arts, Kyudo. Both of them locked themselves in hand to hand combat.

You've got to believe, in the Power of Love. You've got to believe, in the Power of Love. The Power of Love.

Darkseid eyes lit up, ready to fire, when a helmet of sand and metal, was slammed on his head. Avatar created a whirlpool of water, from a nearby lake. Bending up some rocks, she used airbending toss him around in the water slamming into the rocks before blasting him with fire.

His strength was stronger then her currents as he walked out of the water. Avatar could feel his mental hold on her, he was about to crush her with his telekinesis. "You're going down before I do!" Stretching cupped hands, she increased the gravity field trying to make him heavier, too heavy to move. Unfortunately, Apokolips gravity was a lot heavier then Earth, so it wasn't having much of an effect on him.

Darkseid broke free, narrowing his eyes, he used his telepathy to attack her mind. Unlike Miss Martian, his telepathic attack was designed to rip her mind apart. Images of her past flooded her mind, burying herself deeper into her own mind. "That's right, the chaos never went away. It consumes you. Not even your friends and family can save you from your own demons. Give in to the darkness."

Korra's body was covered in Raava's mark, as her bracelet and necklace glowed right along with her eyes. "Leave, my/our mind alone!" The voices of a thousand Avatars came to life as all together they shoved him out of the present Avatar's mind. A few even latched on to his mind, making him relive his own worst memories. Both Darkseid and Avatar sent out psionic projections of themselves to fight one another.

His astral projection was huge, dwarfing hers by at least three stories. Worse, Darkseid didn't need to meditate to keep the astral projection up. A shield of elements and some of their sub bending arts, circled around her body, keeping anyone from hurting her.

Both projections fired beams of energy at each other. The loud humming was heard as they started fighting against one another. The astral projection Avatar discontinued the attack performing the splits. From her position on the ground she started rotating on her hands kicking out blasts of air, Darkseid's projection used his arms to shield itself from the cold air. The air turned into steam cloud that covered both the astral projection and its master.

"Elemental attacks are useless against a projection of the mind. Any possible strategy you've come up with, I can counter little girl." His astral projection grew again, grasping Avatar's projection's arms and pulling them behind her and his foot on her back. The astral form cried out in pain as the real Avatar struggled to maintain the form. She could feel her connection weakening.

Blazing emotion, there's a light that glows from your heart. It's a chain reaction and nothing will keep us apart. Stand by my side.

A volley of arrows wrapped in spirit energy came falling down, striking Darkseid's projection. Bombs blasted, sonic hummed, and about ten other things happened disrupting the projection. Red Arrow was standing on a nearby hill. With a smirk on his face, the boy made a rude gesture with his hands at the dark lord. Varuna appeared in the sky in his full glory, free of his host save a single tether line. The Spirit fired his own beam destroying the projection before lashing out at Darkseid.

The Spirit's Champion called out to Avatar, worried for her well-being. Avatar was pushing herself back into the Avatar State as she whirled the sub-bending arts up the hill at Kuvira. She blocked the metal with her armor before bending and stretching around the plants. Rotating her arms and shifting her legs blasted crystals out of one hand and lava and pure metals out the other, beneath her feet lava flowed as she directed thanks to seismic sense. Her mesh prevented her from getting hurt.

"I'm through holding back with you two!" she bellowed. She glanced at her lover, seeing him in trouble decided to go help him, leaving the hero couple a few seconds to recover.

There's nothing to hide, together we'll fight till the end. Take hold of my hand, and you'll understand, what it truly means to be friends.

Avatar held looked at her boyfriend, silently asking him if he sensed any spirits coming their way. He shook her head, mouthing to her that they were too far and weak to help them. No one was coming to their rescue this time. They need to save themselves. A smell filled the air as jolt went through the archer's body. Varuna quickly returned inside his host as even Raava vanished to the depths of Korra's soul.

The Spirit's Champion and the Avatar suddenly found themselves being lifted in the air as their arms and legs twisted to the point of nearly breaking in half. Their weapons, belts, and helmet/mask torn from them. A low level Omega Beam hit them, vaporizing almost all their clothes. Their eyesight blurred as they saw Kuvira and Darkseid, walking right next to each other and stopped just a few feet in front of them. Both looked highly pleased with themselves.

"So it seems this battle has come to an end. The two greatest powers in this universe and you couldn't even scratch me. How does it feel knowing you two brought about the destruction of three worlds?" Darkseid quietly asked, his left hand formed a fist as he right lay against his side, waiting to be showed in their blood.

Kuvira was in pure bliss. Finally, she would do what no one had ever done before, not even the so called Phoenix King, or the Red Lotus. She would take the lives or her two greatest enemies and crush them, ending their cycles permanently. She clenched her fists tighter and moved her feet in precise measures, slowly and painfully killing the Avatar and Spirit's Champion

The lovers hovered in the air, struggling to breath. Hope was fading fast as their bodies to shut down. This was the end for both of them. As Avatar started to die, she cried a little. She had broken her promise to her spirit friends again, or had she? With all the strength left her body she prayed. Please, please if any spirit can hear me, I ask for your love and help. Not for me, but for everyone else caught up in this war. If I die so others live then I can pass on knowing I did my best. Please someone if you can hear me help!" she mentally projected outwards.

A giant spirit quake rocked the entire area. The skies above started storming. The air become cold as a painful light blinded the evil ones. A strange smell, something both ripe and rotten at the same time. Strange sounds echoed across the valley. An invisible force seemed to snake around Kuvira and Darkseid. They both let out sounds of surprise as their Boxs were snatched up, and thrown to the ground. The same invisible force smashed the Boxes to tiny bits, freeing the Source bits inside.

"What's going on? What are you doing Avatar?!" Kuvira demanded angrily. Not waiting for an answer, she metalbent her sword, aiming for Avatar's throat only for it to bounce off something.

"It's the spirits. They're answering my prayers," Avatar whispered. Both her and Red Arrow watched as outlines of two beings appeared in the sky. The androgynous Hir, split into two halves, each half going into a different being filling the out as the last bit of the Source hovered over the beings sprinkling them with life before bursting apart, becoming a beacon for the Boom Tube to come to.

The two figures were a little taller than normal people, but they radiated powerful auras. One was a female with long black ringlets, big green eyes, and dusty skin. She also had beauty mark like Kuvira. She wore a Korean style white and black dress, with green and yellow embroidery and had a beautiful set of wings in different shades of green.

Her counterpart was a handsome man with light brown features and paler skin. He was dressed in a Korean suit of similar colors. He didn't have wings, but he carried a shepherd's staff. Both of them looked at one another before settling on the ground. A jolt of recognition went through the two spirit carriers. For the first time in millenniums, the ancient spirits of Life and Death had reappeared!

It gives meaning to each moment. It's what our hearts are all made of.
You've got to believe, (you've got to believe), in the Power of Love. The Power of Love.

The female spirit, Life, flew closer and landed in front of Kuvira. She reached out to touch her, only for the young woman to step back and hurl her element at the spirit lady, who just let it phase through her. Darkseid's hand tighten around Life's arm, trying to corrupt her. She gave him a sharp look, before her wings started beating at a high rate, creating a powerful wind. A knock on the head by Death's crook caused the alien to bleed, he tumbled backwards landing on top of Kuvira. "My dear child, I wish I had been then sooner for you daughter. You have suffered greatly and have closed off your heart."

Death also looked at her with a bit of joy and sadness. "Daughter of Earth, we have failed you as parents. We still love you and hope you'll give us another chance."

"SHUT UP! Who are you crazy spirits and what are you babbling about? I have no parents! My so called parents, abandoned me, my foster mother turned her back on our nation and me! My fellow citizens refused to see my greatness. That fool Baatar Jr? He didn't love me, he just was using me to get back at his father!" Kuvira snarled, bending herself up and creating a throne for Darkseid to sit on, she stood by his side with an expression of great anger. "I'm not some pitiful human that can be hurt anymore!"

Darkseid smiled as he stroked Kuvira's arm. "My beloved is correct. She was a pitiful human, but with my help, she has become a force to reckon with," he said. In his other hand, he projected images of Kuvira's greatest and most violent moments. He even had the nerve to show an image of the two of them making love. The spirits looked at him in disgust and it was taking a lot of effort on Avatar and Red Arrow's part not to throw up.

Darkseid was enjoying causing them discomforted. He could feel the Boom Tube getting closer. Once it arrived, he would send the four of them on a one way trip to a black hole. Kuvira conveyed a message with her eyes, silently asking permission for something. His own eyes responded giving her permission to do as she asked. Smiling she leaned in and gave him a kiss before sitting sultry on his throne. "As you can see, Kuvira is much better serving as my immortal Elite and lover. A perfect New God."

Death twirled his staff and pointed it at Darkseid. The staff started to glow brown. At the same time a brown halo dropped through the air, pinning Darkseid's arms to his waist. Death lifted him in the air and held him in place with a white and black aura. Next to him, Life blew a handful of feathers towards Kuvira. The feathers twirled around her forming a gray light column, trapping the Empress inside. Both New Gods struggled and tried to break free, but they couldn't.

Life flew into the air, hovering a few feet in front of Darkseid. Avatar was about to shout a warning about the Omega Beams, when the leader of Apokolipse fired at the spirit, covering her in an orange glow. "NO!" Drawing on reserve strength, she launched her remaining cable into the air. It wrapped around the alien's head as the metal covered his eyes. Having molten metal in your eyes was painful.

Avatar was crying, until Red Arrow shook her. He pointed up in the sky, where they both saw Life hovering there, unharmed, but angry. Her eyes were full of anger, disgust. She raised a single hand and smacked the New God right across the face. She opened her mouth and started to lecture the alien in a cold tone of voice.

"You and your kind are nothing, but an abomination of the natural cycle," she hissed as she brought her hands together, safely tucked up in her long sleeves. "I've existed since before the universe was born. I have slumbered for even longer. Life is one of two gifts that everything receives. A single spark to do as one wishes no matter how long they have. It may be a few minutes or years, but all lifeforms live to learn and grow, until one's life is gone."

"It is the same for death. It is both the end and beginning of a new stage of life for many. Humans, they will live and dies several times over their lifespan, but one is never forgotten or lost, forever," Death explained. He reached through the column of light, placing his hand over Kuvira's chest, making her got still. "Immortality is a blight, for if you live forever, you never embrace what death teaches us."

"Death teaches us nothing, all we do is just vanish. I will live forever!"

"Our dear daughter Kuvira. As your true parents, we have failed you. Your life was harsh, but it was never our intention for you to lose your soul to darkness."

"Step into the arms of love and death. There you will find true peace, my child," Life called out. She smiled as the Boom Tube appeared, its power filling the air as both Spirits lit up. It was time to restore balance. Both touched one of the dark hearts as their powerful energy surged through them. The entire world became brighter and more colorful as something amazing happened.

(Pop, Funky, and a powerful beats solo music.)

Life and Death held on tight as their powers became stronger, radiating further and further away. The entire Spirit World responded to their call, drawing on more power. Avatar's eyes widened as she watched the spirits repositioning their hands as Kuvira and Darkseid souls became visible. It was a clash of wills and the newly awakened spirits seemed to be losing their edge.

"Come on, we have to help them! I'll bend, you guide!" Avatar shouted, as she crawled closer and closer to the two spirits before standing up in the Avatar State. Red Arrow's Spirit's Champion mark glowed as he pressed his hand in the small of her back. His body lit up as both he and Varuna guided her and Raava, as they spirit bent the energy around them to assist Life and Death. A powerful connection was formed as the four of them united with Life and Death.

You've got to believe, (you've got to believe) in the Power of Love. You've got to believe, (you've got to believe) in the Power of Love.

An energy field formed around Darkseid. His brain was assaulted as his body was damaged. Life was stealing years and years of his immortality, making him weaker, more vulnerable to death. When Death energy touched him all his memories relating to Kuvira or this plan were erased. With final twist from Avatar his energies were sealed from ever returning to this world again. The Boom Tube sucked him up and took him away forever.

It gives meaning to each moment. It's what our hearts are all made of.
(Just look inside).

A similar thing was happening to Kuvira. Life, Death, and Avatar all worked on her, trying to remove her powers, free her from the darkness in her soul, and restore her to normal. However, it was not going as planned. Avatar felt herself removing only Kuvira's normal earth and metalbending, her enhancements stayed. Death removed almost all of the darkness in her soul, but some remained. Life couldn't totally take away Kuvira's new immortality so the young woman would live for at least a thousand years. They left her floating in the column of light, in half-life half death state

Turning to the Spirit Portal, Life and Death, released their energies through them as Avatar guided and molded the energies as they traveled all over the world. She could sense all the rainbow of emotions going on, yet she stayed strong as Red Arrow held her tightly.

You've got to believe, (you've got to believe). In the Power of Love.
The Power of Love.

As the last bit of energy melted into place, the spirits returned to the human world. All around the world people were celebrating that the invasion force was gone. Happiness and sorrow mixed together. In the Spirit World, Avatar powered down and fainted into her lover's arms. Her helmet rolled off as a smile could be seen on her face.

Sometime later, she was awakened by a gentle shaking. Korra opened her eyes, blinking. Life was kneeling next to her, a soft light pulsing in her hand, as the Life Spirit, slowly passed it over Korra's body. Next to her, Kilchii was being tended to by Death, who seemed to be removing something from inside, the young man.

Life used a single finger to life Korra's chin up so she was looking straight in her eyes. "How are you feeling my friend? You're spark of life was about to go out, before your time. I have restored you to your normal state of health." Life watched Korra for her reaction. She wondered how Korra felt learning she was still in a less then perfect condition. When she had been part of Hir, it hadn't been too difficult to sense that the Avatar had reached a balance inside her, but secretly still hoped to be a hundred percent one day.

Korra sat up and leaned back a little on the grass. She started doing some flex exercises, making sure everything was okay. Reaching, into a pocked on her belt, she removed a single pain pill and took it. "I'm not angry or upset anymore about my condition. After seeing what happened to Kuvira and my friends, I've finally accept that doctor was right. I can live with an eighty percent recovery."

Life nodded as her counterpart came over. Kilchii was fine now, Death has simply removed the dead skin cells along with a few other decaying pieces. Kilchii seemed relieved about something. He sat down next to her with a happy smile on his face. "None of us have to feel guilty about this. It was always going to happen,"

Korra was confused. Yes, she was feeling guilty about everything that happened, but what did he mean it was always going to happen?

"You're soul mate speaks the truth. Even when we slumbered, my beloved and I, sensed that this event would happen one day. Lifeforms of darkness and death, who squander their lives, they would come no matter what path you would have chosen," Death explained to her gently.

He waved his crook, showing her the real world. All the Guardian Spirits were speaking to their nations telling them the same story and that they would help as much as they could to aid in recovery. Tempus was going from Wilds to Wilds checking up on them as the Foggy Swamp returned to its normal home. Viewing the world, Korra understood what she had done with their energies. Quintessence, life essence, had healed and gave all those who wanted to live, another chance. Death had taken away the broken pieces and the people who had suffered enough. The balance had been restored, now all that was needed was to decide Kuvira's fate.

Korra and Kilchii had a tough decision. The world deserved the right to put Kuvira on trial and make her answer for her crimes, but at the same time it would be dangerous to bring her back. Her enhanced bending couldn't be contained, even with a collar. She could bend purified metals, even a strong alloy that made up the collars. Plus, could the world take on the responsibility of securing a woman for a thousand years? Could she even be killed at this point?

At the same time Kuvira was a victim. Abandon, hurt, and pushed over the edge by events and raw emotions had made her susceptible for any lingering energy from Vaatu before he had been purified. Darkseid was a master manipulate. Could they even determine how much of her actions came from his meddling?

"I don't know what to do. I know it's my responsibility to bring balance to the world, but I don't see a good option for either bringing her back to our world or leave her here in the Spirit World," Korra admitted. Looking at the floating woman Korra knew she couldn't dump this problem on her friends' world.

"Justice demands some form of punishment. She caused so much pain and broke a lot of laws. Varuna is at a loss of what a fair punishment is and where it should take place," Kilchii said simply.

The couple turned to the powerful spirits, knowing that part of them came from Kuvira's parent box. That's why they felt so caring and responsible for her. Even their appearance mimicked Kuvira's. Coming to a decision, Korra spoke to them. "You both claim Kuvira as your daughter that means you're her parents."

"In a way, we are parents to the whole world, but we feel a great personal connection to Kuvira. She is part of us and we are part of her," Life said tucking her wings in.

"As her parents, we should be the ones to carry out her punishment. She is our responsibility," Death added. A knowing look past between the couple as they used their powers to encase their daughter in an energy pod. She would remain in the pod as the parents worked next thousands years to heal their daughter and make sure she was punished. It was the best solution anyone could come up with. Satisfied, the human couple left to rejoin their friends.

Upon exiting the Spirit Portal, Korra and Kilchii found themselves being hugged and looked over by their friends and family. Everyone was happy to see them and talking a mile a minute. Korra gently blew them backwards. "Okay, okay, we can talk more after we've all rested and eaten. I promise I'll tell you everything, but first there's something I need to say to Kilchii."

Turning to him, she pulled back her sleeve until her left hand was showing. Something was glittering brightly on her hand. It was a ring! A diamond ring with little gems; ruby, emerald, sapphire, citron, and a pearl. Looking up from her ring, she answered the question he had asked earlier that day. "Yes. Yes I will marry you!" She flung herself into his arms as they kissed. Everyone clapped knowing it was great ending to a terrible day.
