Chapter 9

As we go on

~…~…~Gizmo~…~…~

Pain.

Burst forth from the center of his chest. His eyes clenched tight in agony; he could feel the little shadow digging around as if searching for something. What could it possibly be looking for? The shadow was then ripped from his being; a shimmering translucent form slamming into its body. A brightly shining, glowing heart held within its hands. Gleeful iridescent eyes faded as the little creature burst into black smoke, leaving behind the pulsing light.

He could only glimpse his friend's frightened gaze before his world faded to dark.

~…~…~Chase~…~…~

Chase could only stare in horror as his friend disappeared in a burst of light. The heart that had been pulled out of his chest floated lazily before shattering and flying off. One of those pieces stopped before him. Lifting a hand, he reached up to grasp the last remnant on his closest friend. But before he could touch it, the little piece flew into his chest; filling him with warmth.

His eyes misted over, unbidden; never noticing the item he picked up flashed and turned back into a normal wrench.

A clenched fist pounded the ground.

"Damn it!"

~…~…~The Trio~…~…~

Satisfying.

They were oddly satisfying.

The little berries they came back to snack on, seemed to fill them up pretty well. They had only eaten a few berries each and were all getting pretty full.

"These taste pretty good…" Dyne stated, gaze contemplating. They tasted like cranberries mixed with oranges. Sweet and tangy. They reminded him of the cookies they would bake together during the holidays. Will we have one all together this year…? The thought was a bit depressing but he'd get over it.

Alya, "hmmm…" as she plucked another piece of fruit off of the little bush. "I'm kinda craving for something salty though."

A noise of agreement sounded from Raven, as a soft commanding male voice came from behind.

"What are you guys doing here?"

~…~…~Nova~…~…~

"Well, why don't we go to my house for now?" the younger girl in front of her inquired. "Maybe we can figure out something then."

Guarded hazel eyes stared in doubt. Was this girl serious? She seems too trusting for this being our first meeting… but it couldn't hurt, right? I need to find out all I can of this place and how to get back home. If this is a prank then I shouldn't be too far away. I know they wouldn't go that far. At least…I hope so….

~…~…~…Luna~…~…~

Ahh…This is the life.

Well, this wasn't exactly the life she had wanted, but it was just as fine. Even with all the monsters about and a constant threat on her life. It was just another hurdle to jump over…in time that is. First was getting a hand on her magic.

Luna was currently at the beach floating in the water; close enough to still be able to stand easily in the water but far enough to feel a little isolated. With legs stretched and crossed one over the other and her hands splayed over her stomach, she painted the perfect picture of tranquility; almost as if she were sleeping. Although, that wasn't really the case…the youth while relaxed had a tumult of thoughts bursting through the seams of her mind. She had no fear of the fiends. Her senses would tell her when one would venture too near.

I've missed this so much... memories of family and friends enjoying a day upon warm sands and cool waters invade the expanse of her psyche. Soon enough the faint sound of the Aurochs practicing turned into laughter and splashes of water. She could even imagine little droplets of water kissing the skin of her face as imaginary friends had a water war around her.

Her favorite part, most of all, was the rare times that the Aqua Gens would visit the beaches and put on a show for the occupants. Aqua Gens were magic users who used their magic to control water, to create sculptures, displays, even turning them into ice and found different ways to purify water for drinking. They would create spheres of water and create shapes, and sometimes there would even be acrobats in the spheres, performing like in a circus. Oh what it would be like to play with water just like that!

Muffled cries and shouts erupted around her. Why does everything sound so muted…? The water never usually impaired her hearing this much. Everyone felt distressed…but why? She couldn't feel any fiends nearby. In fact, everything seemed to be moving away… Was she floating further out? That couldn't be it…it felt more like everything was moving beneath her…

Hazy azure orbs sluggishly opened, almost as if just waking. The faint calls slowly rose in clarity.

"-up! Luna! Wake up!" Wakka's voice rose over the others.

A frantic Gatta, burst from the path that led to the village, with Lulu in tow. The seasoned mage's eyes widened in awe, one of the rarest and hardest forms of magic to control; nature manipulation was easily done by one slip of a girl.

Luna bolted from her relaxed position, adrenaline pumping through her veins as she viewed her watery confinement. How did this happen?! How could this have happened?! What do I do? How do I get out?! Trembling pale hands flustered as they pushed frantically at the walls of the sphere. The barrier bended at her will but would not dissipate. The youth seemed to fall into a frenzy; her mind clouding in fear as she did all she could to escape her encasement.

Only the commanding voice of her teacher was able to cut through her hysteria.

This is where I stop…xD I honestly wanted to write way more but here felt like a good place to cut off. Sorry for the three month delay guys… Anyways, Merry Christmas everyone! And a happy new year too~ ^_^
