New Beginnings
Hi, I'm back with chapter 9 for you, my lovelies. I hope you enjoyed the good twist to last chapter, I promise that from here on Ryli will be striving towards getting herself back on her feet. Now I won't promise that she's not going to have a breakdown here and there, cause then the story would just get boring. Anyways do enjoy, pretties.
DISCLAIMER: I admit that I don't own Twilight or Embry, but SM does.

Ryli dodged the boys as she kicked the ball towards the goal, she sidestepped Jared in the knick of time and kicked the ball. It soared through the air and right past Brady straight into the goal. All the guys stood shocked, not believing they'd just been beat by 5'3, 125 pound girl.

"Don't look so shocked boys. I played soccer all through grade school and high school, I could've gotten a scholarship and be a professional soccer player." Ryli said nonchalantly.
"So why didn't you go through with it?" Jared asked.
"Because as much as I love soccer, I really didn't want to make a career out of it. Yeah sports are great and all, but I like art a lot more than I do sports. I mean my house is literally a life-sized art project." Ryli said easily.

Emily came out and said the food was ready and all the guys ran inside, wanting to get some before it was all gone. Ryli laughed humorlessly and followed after the crowd of boys, Claire stopped Ryli in the doorway. Ryli smiled at the six year old girl and Claire looked intently at the scars scattered across Ryli's legs.

"How'd you get all those marks on your legs? Did someone hurt you? Cause Uncle Sam and Quil told me they'd hurt the people that are mean to me, they would do the same for you if you told them people were mean to you." Claire said caringly.

"Yes, someone did hurt me, very badly, but sweetie there's nothing Sam or Quil could do to them cause the people that hurt me are far away in place that's specially made for the mean, bad people that hurt kids and sometimes adults too." Ryli said with a soft smile.

Claire didn't say anything after that, but then Ryli wasn't completely sure that she'd really understood what she'd meant but Claire never did push any further. She just skipped into the kitchen and climbed onto Quil's leg where she helped herself to his plate, Ryli couldn't help but smile at the young girl's innocence, it made her want to have kids of her own someday.
Embry noticed Ryli standing in the living room just watching them in the kitchen, he couldn't help the smile that spread across his face when he saw pure happiness lighting up her features. The since of relief it gave him was so strong he thought it just might make him high, from the first day he'd met Ryli never once had he seen her truly happy. So many people had given up on her and left, so many times she'd been beaten down and shattered, that to her to ever be truly happy was just a unreachable dream. Even though Embry was a shy guy, he was still so optimistic about almost everything and he could've never imagined a life so bad that someone could've lived their whole life without knowing what pure happiness felt like. But that quickly changed when he met Ryli, her whole life was a train wreck, a big screwed up mess and she had no clue what pure happiness was because she hadn't ever experienced any sort of happiness. She's never even had the chance to have a childhood because each situation she was placed in caused her to mature faster than she should've, she never had the adorable innocence that you see in most kids.

So that's it for this chapter, I know it's a lot shorter than the rest are but I'm kind of running low on ideas for this and the story's not going to be much longer anyways. While you wait for the next chapter to go up would you please review, subscribe, and favorite. Until later. ~ms. unpredictable2000
