Bakugo walks along the hall with a serious expression, as he is wont to do. He pulls away and gets hit in the back of the head by a crumpled up paper ball. He looks back and spots the color pink inside of a brown box atop a roller. "Hey, Bakugo!" she whispers.

Angered, he grumbles, "What do you want?!"

"Can you take me over to Kirishima's room? It's Christmas, and I'd like to give him a special present."

"Is it you?"

"Yes!" She then ducks inside. The walking nuke gains an anger mark, before rolling her down the hall. "Thanks for this. And here I thought you were just a chronic asshole."

He smirks as he takes her to the lounge, and leaves her there. "Wait, where am I?" He wordlessly walks away, leaving the box and the scantily clad Ashido in the box with the rest of their class watching Christmas specials. 'Bakugo, you jerk!'

Bakugo smiles as he walks away to his bedroom. Up the steps he goes rounding to his room, until a paper ball hits him the back of the head. Angered, he turns around and glares at Uraraka inside of a box on a roller. "Neh, Bakugo!"

Chapter 9: What Happens in The After Storm?

While Class 1-A engages with villains for the first time in their lives, All Might aka Toshinori Yagi sits in a hospital bed recovering. Recovery Girl sits by next to him. A disapproving look forms on her face as she washes her hands.

"Thanks for coming out when we called you. I feel more comfortable with you treating me due to my condition," he tells her.

"I can't believe you would let yourself get hurt like this. You only drained the amount of time you can still do this!"

"I know…" He solemnly stares up at the white ceiling, like a blanche abyss. "I let my guard down when I saw her face…"

"It couldn't have been her. You were there when she died."

"I know… but we never recovered her body." He sighs with disgrace. "I bet Aizawa and the others are disappointed in me. I wonder how Bakugo and Mirio are doing?"

There is a knock on the door. On the other end, Inko speaks, "Is everything okay in there?"

"Yes. You can visit now." Recovery Girl watches Inko step inside, jittery and worrying.

"I'm sorry to intrude, but you left your phone. And it's been ringing." She hands him his cellular, which he takes and unlocks to check his messages.

His small eyes open wide. "What is this?!"

Back to Action…

As the three main villains make their escape, the front doors of USJ burst open. In steps the throng of heroes that are UA's teachers. From Blood King to Power Loader, all of them stand at the ready with an out of breath Iida.

The villains who aren't frozen all attack despite being abandoned. Their struggling falls flat on them when Present Mic yells, "YEAHHHHHHH," his voice amplified so loud it almost deafens them, and Ectoplasm summons copies to sweep. Suneater stretches his arm out, turning his legs into chicken feet. The increased speed allows him to run through and bash the villains using the horns of a bull.

Hotstreak, having left the Conflagration Zone, sees the heroes kicking ass. 'Damn it, damn it, damn it! This was a dumb idea! How am I gonna get out of here?' That same blackness from before comes from behind to consume him.

As the rest of the villains are rounded up, Lemillion and Nejire-chan guide the students outside with the others, including those who finally come out of their respective zones.

Elsewhere…

In the abandoned bar, a portal opens up. From it, Kurogiri, Shigaraki and Plasmus fall out. The Noumu begins to regrow its arms at a slow rate, while the mist man becomes free of the magnetic charge.

"We failed… we failed to kill those kids! Those damn brats were stronger than they look!" Shigaraki groans with frustration. "And that one boy!"

"Do not fret Tomura," says the lit monitor on the table next to them. "Everything is fine."

"No it's not! We lost all our men!"

"You got that right!" The darkness returns from the shadows surrounding them, rising up as a square shaped monster. "You sent us into a losing battle Shigaraki! If I was in charge they would have all had to wash their necks!"

"Don't get ahead of yourself Ebon. I chose Tomura for a reason, because he has the proper drive to replace me. You couldn't prove yourself."

"Then I guess I'll prove myself elsewhere…" Ebon then fades back into the shadows, his white eyes glaring at Shigaraki as he leaves. To Kurogiri he says, "Later bro."

"We might have been able to save face and capture Lemillion if that one kid with his powers didn't get in the way-"

"Don't complain about what could have been." Shigaraki looks over to the master. "You have more pressing matters to lean to."

The others look to him with curiosity. "Ebon's departure is a fine example of what's to come in the future. Now that the world knows All Might is vulnerable and UA isn't impenetrable, criminals who know of me attempting to replace me will appear. There will soon come villains trying to take over our territory. Real ones, not the weaklings we had follow us. For now, focus on what you can still do. Use this failure to improve, and overcome your weakness. Gather stronger followers, and take all the time you need for your next move. Show the world next time how terrifying you are, Tomura Shigaraki!"

Elsewhere…

Back at UA, the police arrive to gather up the captured villains. Excluding the four who got away, three more seem to be missing. Officer Sansa, a cat man, counts the students. "Excluding that one with the burns, all are present and accounted for."

"Does anyone want to know where I've been?" asks Aoyama as sparkles appear around his face.

Kendo goes around speaking to everyone to check on them. To Kirishima she checks his eye, noticing the bandage wrapped just above the right where he was wounded. To Ojiro she checks his light burns which luckily aren't damaging. To Jiro she checks her leg seeing she sprained it.

"I'm so glad we all made it through this," she says, finally relaxing her heart from all the excitement today wrought.

"Those lowlifes were all spread out ready to kill us, and yet no one's too hurt," Tokoyami states. "It's almost a miracle."

"We're sending you all back to your classroom. We'll get your statements later," speaks detective Tsukauchi.

"Detective sir," speaks Asui, coming out of her stupor when she speaks. "Can you tell us what will happen to Aizawa, Thirteen and Lemillion?"

The detective looks at his notes. "It seems Aizawa suffered head trauma and some poisoning from overexposure. His right arm is torn and peeled; Recovery Girl will have her work cut out when she gets back. Thirteen has multiple lacerations on his back and upper arms, but he'll pull through after treatment. Lemillion has the same type of poisoning in his system as well as a fractured rib."

"What about Bakugo?" This is Yaoyorozu, who remains shaky.

"Bakugo has a wrist peeled away to the flesh, but otherwise fine."

"And Deku?" Uraraka asks with the utmost worry.

"What of Midoriya?" Kendo adds to clear up confusion, as she's just as worried as Uraraka, Iida and pretty much everyone else.

"Izuku suffered some burns and electrocution, but according to the nurse he may be okay," he calmly tells them. "Sansa, take over. I have to check up on someone."

As he takes off for his squad car, the principal Nezu talk with the other teachers about revamping security. Turning to Nejire and Suneater, the mouse man says, "You gave your report right?"

"I have," says the wave heroine before looking back to the main campus. "Suneater, can you handle this?"

The pointy eared hero groans, muttering, "Leaving me alone again with the public… that's not fair…"

"I'm sorry, but I need to be somewhere at the moment. Mirio could use some looking after." She takes off flying for the main campus.

"Didn't even wait for me to respond."

Inside the medic room, a doctor sits exhausted in her seat next to Lemillion and Izuku. The former is in the bed recovering from healing the poison out of his system. The latter is currently being checked. "You're fine."

"Huh?"

"My Amphitrite's Tears isn't affecting you." The water on him returns back to her eyelids. "Your body is fine on its own."

"It is?"

"Maybe you yourself have a healing factor on your Quirk." She smiles with relief placing a hand on his shoulder. "In any case, I've checked your body and you're okay."

"What about Lemillion?" asks Izuku as he looks to him.

"He'll be able to get over the poison. He just needs to wake up," she replies.

Izuku reattaches his clothing to his person before going next to Lemillion. Without his helmet and clothing he looks much more tame. More vulnerable. 'It's amazing how human heroes can look when we're vulnerable…'

The door opens up behind him, and in steps Tsukauchi. "Izuku. It's been too long," he says, removing his fedora.

"Tsukauchi!" Izuku smiles going over to the adult. "I haven't seen you in a long time!"

"Yeah." He gives a deep smile, looking away. "I think it was fated that we'd meet again in this scenario." The detective then places his hand on the counter.

"How is everyone?"

"Your friends are all safe, waiting in class to be interviewed on the situation. We'll be questioning-"

"I know," he interrupts, nodding. "Everyone involved will be questioned about the attack. Hopefully you guys can catch Shigaraki and the others who escaped…" The electric hero in training then asks him, "Was that all you wanted to tell me?"

Tsukauchi shakes his head. "Since I'm here, I figure I might as well tell you about what happened; Monogari Nise escaped prison today."

A red flare sparks inside of him. The electric teen releases electricity from around him angrily, soothed in a matter of minutes upon seeing Tsukauchi's face. "Yes. I know how you feel…"

"I hate him so much! He should never have gotten out!" Izuku punches the table, his lightning sparking and shutting out the power in the room. Lemillion's eyes watch him with a peek. "He kills my father, confesses with no remorse, and escapes prison to run from his life sentence!"

"We'll catch him again. You can only go so far after murdering a cop." The young one looks up at him, removing his mask and exposing his angry eyes. "Izuku, we'll handle this. You're not a hero yet, so don't even think about it."

"…" His silence is enough to confirm his answer, as Tsukauchi places a hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry. He won't get away." Lemillion closes his eyes as the detective continues.

Nejire comes in through the door shouting, "IZUKU! LEMILLION!" She then goes to the former hugging him tightly, again causing the tomato impression to return. Afterwards the wave heroine goes to Lemillion's side pestering him.

"He's asleep!" shouts the doctor.

Though shocked, Tsukauchi sighs with a smile before grabbing his hat. "I'll leave you all alone. I have affairs to attend to elsewhere." He then bows to the still red Izuku before making his exit.

After the incident that took place that day, this Thursday classes all end up being canceled to beef up security throughout the entire campus. Because of this, everyone is able to go home for the day and come back the next morning.

...

Uraraka heads to an empty apartment home. After placing her effects in her old bedroom, she lies in bed. She takes in the wall peeling, poorly kept together surroundings that grant her nostalgic warmth. "It's not fancy and expensive like Heights, but it's been home for so long." She turns on her phone and checks pictures of her parents. "I'll make sure you don't live like this. You deserve the best!"

...

Todoroki sits in his Japanese style bedroom, staring down at his table with a strained expression. He punches the desk with his left hand, flames erupting as he recalls that battle with Plasmus. "I could have stopped it. Ice wasn't permanent, but had I used fire I could have destroyed it like Midoriya. This vow of mine…" He continues to seethe, as his beautiful older sister eavesdrops on his inner turmoil.

...

Bakugo checks the mirror, while taking out a smaller hand mirror to check behind his right ear. Sighing at what he sees, he exits the bathroom and sits atop the window sill of his old bedroom, deep in thought. "KATSUKI, GET OUT OF THE WINDOW!"

"MAKE ME!" He shouts, before slapping his mouth shut when he realizes who he's talking to. When footsteps make their way to his room, he can only think: 'Oh shit!'

"First you go out and get kidnapped, then you get attacked by villains! And now that you're back you're talking back to your mother! There's no cure for your stupidity is it?!"

...

Kendo sits outside at the backyard of her home, doing sit ups and crunches. After running out of steam she goes to grab a drink while thinking back on what happened. Sweat falls down her face when she remembers the overwhelming presence Plasmus had over her. Remembering what else happened regarding Izuku, supplies her with more energy. "I need to get stronger."

...

Ojiro lays in his room, as silent as many of the others thinking about their brush with death. His is more on how they escaped those jaws: "And how useless I was in the final act." He thinks back to how Midoriya, Todoroki, Yaoyorozu and Bakugo were able to overcome their fears to face the villains alongside the pros. "They saved us. All I did was stand around and piss my pants… can I really be a hero?"

...

At home, Kirishima checks his eye where he was cut. It's overlapped with the scar already on him, making an x. "Cool!" are his initial thoughts, before sighing as it hits him. 'I wasn't as hard as I could have been…' A smile returns as determination revives.

"I'll just have to get harder!"

"Eishiro, no innuendos!"

...

With Ashido, she holds up her phone. Lifting a finger she attempts to call someone, only to hesitate. Each time she glances back at the phone, afraid even more. With one final yell gives up and grabs her phone. "Kirishima, you better get my apology!"

...

Yaoyorozu reads a book in her humble abode, before closing it shut in frustration. She then throws it aside, shivering unsteadily. The door opens up, and her mother comes in. "Mother?"

"It's okay Momo." She comes up and hugs her sole child, bringing her close.

A few seconds transpire between then and now, tears forming within that time period. "I was so scared!" confesses the daughter, her fears coming out free finally. "I thought I'd die there! I was afraid they'd kill us…that I'd never see you again." Her mother continues to comfort her.

...

Inko Midoriya, in the kitchen cooking a meal for her and her son for the first time in almost two weeks, occasionally looks back at where her son is in his room. 'So much is affecting him now, but he kept to himself about Nise…'

There's a knock on the door, and she pauses her culinary actions to open the door. To her shock, in steps Hado outside of her costume as Nejire-chan in her UA uniform. "Oh my god! Are you-"

"Hi, Midoriya-san! I'm here for your son," she says, confirming her hopes.

"My son has a girlfriend!? Oh please, come in!" She guides Hado inside, who after taking her shoes off, steps into the living room.

"I wouldn't go that far. I'm more a friend of his," she says, a slight blush on her face from the compliment. 'Wonder how Rogue would take that.'

"I'll get him right away. Izuku!" Upon calling out for him, the electric teen steps outside his room. There he spots to his surprise Nejire, who comes up and pushes him back into his room. With the door shut, Inko pauses. She slowly, but surely, begins to hyperventilate at the most obvious.

Inside, Nejire sits down on his bed, looking around at the half constructed room. 'Mirio's room looks almost the same.' She chuckles a little.

"What?"

"Nothing, sparky."

"Don't call me that." Nejire laughs once more.

After taking a moment to calm down, she pats beside her leading him to sit. "Do you remember that purple sparking you did?"

"…yeah?"

"I think I figured out how you beat slimy; you attacked his atoms didn't you?"

"You can tell?" This is an honest surprise to him. He didn't expect her to understand his power so easily. "That color comes out when I dive into a subatomic level; I learned by an accident that if the electromagnetic force that keeps electrons connected together is taken away the molecules the atoms form disappear. I only used it twice before because I had trouble controlling it, against a rat and against the gimmick. Wish I had used it sooner on those villains."

A red flag forms in her mind. She asks quickly, "Izuku, do you hate criminals?"

"Of course I do." He doesn't hesitate to voice his true opinion.

"I don't blame you." She looks up, that same smile on her face growing smaller. "I've always disliked crime, and it's wrong for me to say hate the crime and not the criminal. But, criminals are people too. Everyone deserves a second chance."

He's not convinced. "The same people who rob a bank or pickpocket aren't always the same as people who plant bombs and raid offices with guns, yet they're all criminals. Everyone is human Izuku."

He remains silent, thinking more on her words. She places a hand on his shoulder. "Anyway, I just came by to tell you this. I have to go back to work." With a quick hug she heads out the door, passing by his eavesdropping mother.

With her exit, Izuku goes back to thinking. 'The Villain Alliance is still out there, getting ready to trounce us. Nise is out there probably committing crimes. And to top it off…' He raises his hand, the electricity sparking through changing from green to purple and back. 'I still need practice when I dive into subatomic levels…' He remembers when he fired at Shigaraki, with intent to remove his head. "I flaked because I couldn't go through with it…but this does confirm it; I'm not ready to kill people, villain or not.'

He switches back to green and from a finger a little jolt hits the ceiling. "But atleast I found a way to increase my reserves."

"Izuku…" Inko peers into her son's room, staring all around examining the area.

"Oh mom. Wha-" He stops when she begins checking him, starting from his face to his pants. "What are you doing?"

"Did she try anything?" she insists, going into mom mode.

Friday Morning…

"EVERYONE, TAKE YOUR SEATS!" shouts Iida as he steps in the front of the class.

"We are. You're the only one standing," Tokoyami says, once again putting him down.

Hagakure rests her head on the back of her wrist, I think, while looking at Iida. "Is sensei on his way?"

"He sure is," responds the four eyed speedster as he sits down. As if on cue, Aizawa steps inside the room with a sling and cast around his arm. He also looks rather drained, even more than usual. He comes to the front of the class, where many ask of his condition.

"I'm fine. If poison and a broken arm and face could keep a hero from performing their duties we wouldn't do this in the first place." He callously takes his seat, glaring ahead at the students. "Instead of worrying about me, focus on yourselves. Your fight isn't over yet."

The students go on edge worrying about what this means. "UA's Sports Festival is just around the corner." Their worries all go away with one universal shout.

With Aizawa's red eyes threatening silence, Jiro raises her hand and asks, "Is it really okay to have a sports festival after Wednesday?"

"Rationally, we're thinking that we need to prove that UA's protocols are safe. And it's BECAUSE of that attack that security is strengthened five times more than usual. It's not something we can cancel because a couple of criminals attacked us without warning."

"Oh come on! It's just a sports festival-" Eraserhead gives grape boy the glare, shutting him up.

The homeroom teacher then goes off explaining the significance of this festival, which has replaced the Olympics once everyone in the world started to gain Quirks. "But more importantly, for you, pro heroes go there to scout out applicants who they can work with upon graduation and for internships. The students who wish to aim to be the greatest heroes will need this more."

Aizawa then turns to the last row. "Mineta." His voice makes him jump in his seat. "Your score hasn't improved outside of quizzes, so this may be your last chance to show your abilities. Depending on performances, those in general studies can be transferred to hero courses A or B. And since we only have twenty seats, you might be replaced by one of them."

Around lunch, the UA sports festival comes back up. A few of the classmates talk about it with zeal. Mineta however is panicking for obvious reasons.

"You know, we ended up going through that horrible experience, but I'm super pumped!" The hot blooded Kirishima hardens his fist with excitement.

"We only receive a few chances. We can't afford to miss this." This is Tokoyami.

"We just gotta stand out. It'd be easy for Shouji, what with his muscles," says Sato pointing to the multiple armed student. "It'll be my time to shine!"

"There's no point if they can't see our usefulness," Yaoyorozu says as she looks up. She takes in a deep breath. "We can do this."

"Is this really the best?" Izuku asks himself as he thinks. "He said something about internships…"

"That's the following week or so," Kendo tells him, while squeezing a hand grip. "From what the schedule says we take on an internship for a week to get real world experience."

"Deku! Iida! LET'S DO OUR BEST!" Ochako suddenly shouts, giving off this extremely intense air. Her voice deep, she repeats her mantra to the others, drawing them in.

Ashido sweatdrops. "You're not acting like your name suggests."

Izuku cups his chin thinking where this is coming. 'She's just throwing a new personality out there. Either that or she's really getting into this for future jo-' A thought then occurs to him. 'Now that I think about, why did Uraraka want to become a hero?'

As the students go off to have lunch, Deku asks the girl his thoughts. More specifically, why she decided to become a hero. Her answer is kind of surprising. "Money?"

Uraraka sheepishly rubs her hair feeling embarrassed. "That's right. I've always planned to become a hero, so I can earn money for my family."

"Family?" Iida asks her.

"My parents run a construction company but we're barely scraping by. I've always wanted to help them, but they won't let me…so I can fulfill my dream." Uraraka looks down saddened. "They've been working hard to give me a comfortable life, so I'm gonna do the same for them!"

Hearing her goals opens a new world of depth to her decisions. Especially with her follow up. "I'm gonna earn enough money being a hero, and give my mom and dad the comfortable life they deserve!"

Iida, with tears in his eyes, claps awkwardly. "Bravo! Bravo, Uraraka! Such noble ideals aren't wrong! Heroes are only human too, so there's nothing wrong with wanting things better for your family!"

As Uraraka cheers up from the overall praise of her intentions, a thought passes by her. She goes to Izuku and asks, "Why are you a hero?"

"Me?" This takes him back by surprise; he didn't expect anyone to be curious about his heroic intentions. Even Iida becomes curious.

"Yeah. You told us your father was a cop, and since we never talked about it I always wondered why you didn't want to be an officer like him."

The electric hero's eyes careen downward, as if searching in his soul. Truthfully, his reasons for being a hero stem from his father, especially his death. "I want to be a hero who can protect the every day lives of others, but…" He remembers his near attempt to murder Shigaraki, wondering if he can still follow that goal.

"But…?" His classmates ask in follow up.

"I don't know if I should say."

"Deku, please be more open with us. You could put a bit more trust in your friends," she speaks, making his eyes rise in surprise. He asks what she meant, and she replies, "We're friends right? You don't exactly survive a life or death situation together and don't become closer."

After a brief moment to think about it, he smiles with a nod. 'That's right.' "You're right. We really are friends now aren't we?"

"Of course." Uraraka and Iida nod in response.

With that, the trio head to lunch finally. Watching from afar, All Might in his skeletal form keeps quiet. "Midoriya-kun is pretty interesting. The report detailed that he was with the group that repelled the leaders of the attack. Your instincts may be dead on Mirio."

Kei: This chapter has finally ended. And with it, we now go into the Sports Festival Arc.

Julia: For anyone curious, Lightz has made a community and could use staff. Also, next chapter we'll reveal the OCs who are in the Power Deshi. Next chapter we'll probably make an omake, but right now we have other works.

Luna: Leave a review if you wish. Or don't. He wants reviews; I want views.
