Disclaimer: I do not own the Vampire Diaries or the Originals… or any of the dialogue I used from the show.
So, I looked up the timeline for the Vampire Diaries and the Originals just to see everything… and none of it makes sense…
Hope was born on May 2nd, 2012 so that would put her possible conception dates between the days of August 6 to August 14, 2011… and that doesn't make sense because Hayley was captured on April 30th, 2011 and apparently held by the witches for three days. At that point, Hayley was said to be about a month along. It also says on the timeline that Hope was conceived on March 24th, 2011 and that would mean she would've been born sometime is December.
I double checked all this with conception/due date charts just to make sure I was correct.
So I have decided to change this up. Graduation apparently took place on June 15th, 2011 which won't change because that works out for me. The possible dates of conception for Klaus and Katherine are June 13 to June 21. So their baby will be born sometime in March. There I did simple math better than the writers of the Vampire Diaries/the Originals.

Katherine was stunned. She could still feel the power emanating from within her… and honestly, she didn't know how to react. Something like this just was not possible. Her unborn child was already showing such a strong potential for magic, and was also somehow already using that magic. Katherine knew that most witches could barely perform spells or control their magic at young ages, so something like a baby – still in the womb – being able to use magic was completely unheard of.
I really am having a Magic Miracle Baby… Katherine thought. She hadn't really believed it before, but now she certainly did. This baby was going to be special.
Shaking her head, Katherine attempted to refocus herself. She now knew for sure that she could practice magic without being caught because of her unborn child, and so that meant that Katherine definitely had to start relearning how to properly control her magic.
Seeing as how she had managed to use the spell Incendia, Katherine figured she might as well learn to deal with fire spells. Fire spells were among the list of spells which were most useful against vampires. Seeing as how she was in New Orleans, a place filled with vampires who were mostly part of Marcel's army, Katherine knew that learning how to use fire spells would be most helpful to her in the future.
Katherine flipped through the grimoire on Traditional Magic until she found a relatively decent-looking section on elemental magic. "Perfect," Katherine grinned, clasping her hands together. She looked at one of the spells, a Fire Manipulation Spell, and repeated the incantation to herself until she could remember it, "Ex Spiritum In Tacullum, En Terrum Incendium, Phasmatos Salves A Distum."
"Okay, I think I got it now…" Katherine muttered. She looked at the dozens of candles she had lit and focused her attention on them. "Ex Spiritum In Tacullum, En Terrum Incendium, Phasmatos Salves A Distum…"
The flames of the candles did nothing. The intensity of the flickering flames had not increased like Katherine had hoped they would.
"Come on. You are a Traveler and a normal witch." Katherine attempted to give herself a pep talk. "There is nothing that can stand in your way." Biting her lip, Katherine redirected her attention to the dozens of candles again. "Ex Spiritum In Tacullum, En Terrum Incendium, Phasmatos Salves A Distum!"
The flames of the candles roared, growing big and rising. Katherine could feel the heat of the candles grow as well. She grinned. She had done it! She had performed another spell successfully.
Raising her hands and holding them towards the candles, Katherine repeated the incantation of the spell, "Ex Spiritum In Tacullum, En Terrum Incendium, Phasmatos Salves A Distum!"
The flames immediately returned to their normal sizes.
"This is pretty simple…" Katherine muttered. She could feel her magic flowing through her and coming back, though she also figured that perhaps the baby was somehow helping as well.
I need a fireplace… Katherine thought, rising to her feet and looking around the library. When she couldn't find one, she left the library and headed down the hall to the living room. Katherine remembered seeing a fireplace in there.
Katherine walked into the grand living room and headed over to the lovely, marble fireplace. She bent down and pulled a few logs out of the log basket and tossed them into the hearth of the fireplace. Katherine then stood up and stepped back a little bit.
"I can do this. I can do this. I can do this." Katherine mumbled to herself. She was going to attempt setting the fire without using the incantation. She had seen the Bennett witch and her ancestor – Emily – do it plenty of times. If they could do it, then Katherine could as well.
Katherine shook her hands a little and shifted her weight, trying to get rid of her nerves. After a few moments, she deemed herself ready and focused all her attention on the fireplace with an expression full of determination and concentration. She imagined the flames coming to life, engulfing the logs, while burning strong and bright.
And sure enough, the flames burst into existence, filling the fireplace and burning the logs.
"Yes!" Katherine cheered. She grinned and pointed her finger at the fire. If she could increase the intensity of the candle flames, then surely she could do the same with this fire. "Ex Spiritum In Tacullum, En Terrum Incendium, Phasmatos Salves A Distum!"
The fire roared and grew big, its flames licking around the edges of the marble fireplace. The sudden intensity of the fire and the force of the sudden spell sent Katherine flying backwards. She landed on the ground, smacking her head hard, and gasped in pain.
Katherine tried to shift her body, but she was feeling extremely weak and aching everywhere. She raised a shaky hand to her forehead; it was sticky and wet, and a bruise was already forming. Black dots began to fill her blurry vision. Katherine weakly blinked her eyes, trying to keep them open.
"N-no…" Katherine moaned before her eyes slid shut and she was pulled into unconsciousness…

Klaus entered the mansion. He was carrying several bags full of spell ingredients. Everything that Katherine had requested him to get, and a few extras. Just to be sure.
"Katerina!" Klaus called out, walking through the foyer. He stopped suddenly, his body going stiff as he registered the smell of blood. He recognized it as Katherine's blood. He could also hear the sound of her heartbeat – as well as the baby's – and breathing, but something was wrong…
Without a second thought, Klaus dropped the bags he was holding and sped through the mansion. He followed the sound of Katherine's heartbeat to the living room, where he found her.
Katherine was lying unconscious on the ground a few feet away from the fireplace, which had a roaring fire in its hearth. The smell of blood was extremely strong, and Klaus could see the small gash on her forehead.
Not wasting anytime, Klaus was at Katherine's side and kneeling down next to her. He bit into his wrist and pressed it against Katherine's mouth. Once the blood dripped into her mouth, Katherine's body began convulsing and Klaus' blood came spewing out of her mouth. Klaus quickly turned Katherine on her side as she vomited his blood all over the floor. As soon as she was finished vomiting, her body became still once more.
Suddenly, the gash on Katherine's forehead began healing and a healthier colour began returning to Katherine's skin. Klaus was confused. Her body had just rejected his blood, yet she was still healing somehow.
Muttering a string of curses under his breath, Klaus picked Katherine up and sped up the staircase. He headed into the nearest bedroom and settled Katherine on the bed. He pulled the blankets up around her, closed the curtains, grabbed a book, and then pulled up a chair beside her bed.
Klaus knew that when Katherine woke up, he would be having a few words with her.

Katherine's eyes suddenly flew open and she quickly sat up, gasping and looking around wildly with a panicked expression. Her body was aching and her head was pounding with a massive migraine. She could just barely remember what had happened…
"No!" Katherine exclaimed. Her shaking hands frantically came to rest on her stomach. The baby!
"The baby is perfectly healthy and fine, as are you."
Katherine looked to the side to see Klaus sitting in a chair with a book in his hands. He looked calm, but she knew better than that. Beneath his calm façade, Klaus was most likely seething with anger and annoyance, especially after having to come home to find Katherine injured and unconscious.
"H-how do you know for s-sure?" Katherine demanded, needing to know for sure. She couldn't just take Klaus' word for it.
"It would seem that the baby somehow managed to heal you, and therefore most likely itself… if the baby was at all injured because of whatever foolish thing you were doing." Klaus told her, closing his book and setting it aside. "However, to make sure, I called over that irritating witch – Sophie, I believe her name is – and she brought along what she claimed to be was a 'qualified' doctor from the Bayou. Both you and the baby were deemed to be healthy."
Katherine breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed against the pillows. Her baby was perfectly fine.
"Now, Katerina," Klaus' expression had turned deadly. "Do tell me exactly what happened."
"I-I… I lost control of the spell." Katherine shook her head while crying. "I put too much p-power into it and the f-force of the spell sent me flying b-backward. I hit m-my head on the ground and p-passed out."
"You told me practicing magic would not harm the baby." Klaus stated angrily, rising to his feet.
Katherine attempted to return Klaus' glare, but she wasn't able to because of her crying. "And it w-won't! T-today was a mistake!"
"Stop crying!"
"I can't!" Katherine crossed her arms. She pointed an accusing finger at Klaus. "T-this is your fault! It's t-the hormones!"
Klaus sighed in irritation. "Get some sleep, love." He told her, heading towards the door. "You need it to fully recover your strength. We shall talk in the morning."
"W-wait… Klaus," Katherine called out to stop him, internally cursing herself for still stuttering.
Klaus glanced back at her with a questioning look, silently telling her to explain.
"The baby… it p-powerful…" Katherine said with slight hesitation. She still didn't know exactly what Klaus wanted with her and this baby. "You told me t-the baby healed me… w-well, it also concealed m-my usage of magic."
"Rest now, little witch," Klaus said, though he did have a look of deliberation on his face. He turned off the bedroom light and closed the door as he left.
Katherine wiped away her tears and rolled on her side, curling into a ball. She was already failing at being a mother. She had almost hurt herself and the baby today. Katherine closed her eyes. I'll do better, she thought before she fell asleep…

The next morning, Katherine stumbled into the bathroom and vomited what little was in her stomach into the toilet bowel. She groaned and flushed the toilet, resting her head against the cool tiles of the floor. This is completely miserable, she thought as she lay on the ground.
"How are you feeling?"
Katherine weakly lifted her head off the ground to see Hayley. She was standing in the doorway of the bathroom, leaning against the frame with her arms crossed and an apologetic look on her face. "I'm sorry," she told Katherine, entering the bathroom and kneeling down next to her friend. "If hadn't gone out, I could have helped you. Made sure you didn't get hurt."
"It is not your fault." Katherine said, leaning against Hayley for support. She was still feeling incredibly tired. "I knew my magic was stronger than that of an average witch, and I should have been more careful because of that."
Hayley helped Katherine sit on the edge of the bathtub. "Look, I can put off searching for my family until –"
"What. No." Katherine shook her head.
"I'm not stopping permanently. I'm just putting off my search until you have properly learned how to control your magic." Hayley informed the worried-looking doppelgänger.
Katherine looked like she wanted to protest, but was much too tired.
"Take a shower." Hayley practically ordered. "I'll go downstairs and make breakfast."
"Fine," Katherine mumbled.
Hayley smiled and headed over to the door. "Good," she said, glancing at Katherine over her shoulder. "Breakfast will be ready by the time you are out of the shower." She closed the door and left.

Sure enough, when Katherine entered the kitchen half-an-hour later – all showered, cleaned, and dressed – breakfast was ready and set out on the island. Hayley had made Katherine scrambled eggs with toast and fruit.
"Thank you," Katherine told her werewolf friend as she sat down.
Before she could even eat, Klaus strolled into the room and took a seat at the island along with Hayley and Katherine. "Good to see that you are awake, Katerina." He said merrily. "Because we do have much to discuss,"
Katherine viciously stabbed into a piece of pineapple, glaring at the hybrid. "What?"
"From now on, you are only to practice your magic within the company of me or" – he gestured to Hayley – "my little spy and minion who has taken to freeloading within my humble abode."
"I can take care of myself." Katherine scowled.
Klaus raised an eyebrow at the pregnant doppelgänger. "From what I came home to yesterday, I would deem you incapable of taking care of yourself. It would seem that the baby was the one who kept you healthy and fine last night, not the other way around."
Katherine winced.
Hayley glared at Klaus and snapped, "You don't have to be an ass, you know."
"I'm just trying to make sure all my efforts of cooperating with the witches don't go to waste because Katerina got herself and this baby killed." Klaus shrugged his shoulders.
"You're a dick." Hayley told him.
Klaus didn't seem at all affected by what Hayley had said. "I'm just doing and saying what must be done." He then added, "And as you requested, Katerina, I got all the spell ingredients and supplies you wanted."
"Thanks," Katherine mumbled, feeling grumpy now.
"Now, moving onto the next topic," he smiled as he spoke. "Why did your body reject my blood yesterday?"
Katherine was silent for a few moments, wondering why herself, before finally saying, "It must be the cure. It was made to cure vampirism and it is still within my system, so it must be rejecting the blood."
"That may be true, but the baby also has vampire blood because of Klaus, and it managed to heal you without any unsightly side effects." Hayley pointed out.
"Perhaps, it is because of just what you said. The baby will be a born hybrid, so the vampire blood is already a part of the baby and that is why the cure and the vampire blood haven't created any negative side effects for Katerina." Klaus noted.
Katherine bit her lip. "So I can't be given any vampire blood. The baby is the only source of vampire blood for healing me."
"Seems like it." Hayley said.
Clasping his hands together, Klaus rose to his feet and strolled out of the kitchen while saying, "Do try not to get yourself killed today, love. I will be gone all day attempting to destroy Marcel and reclaim my kingdom!"
Once Hayley heard the front door shut, letting her know that Klaus was gone, she scowled in irritation and turned to Katherine. "How the hell do you live with him? He's so rude." She gained a look of disgust. "You're pregnant with his child and he can't even treat you right."
"That was him on a good day." Katherine replied. "And remember, wolf girl… he's been tormenting me for five centuries, he isn't just going to change overnight or because I'm carrying his Miracle Baby."
Hayley rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Let's forget about him. What are you doing today?"
"Let's just relax today." Katherine said.
"What about wanting to learn how to control your magic again, so you can unlink yourself,"
Katherine waved it off. "I'm only a month pregnant. There is still time. And as of right now… the witches haven't done anything…."
