"What were you thinking, Enya?!" Hiccup yelled as he paced around the dragon academy.
"Well, at first I was-"
"Do you know you could have been seriously hurt?" Hiccup cut me off. I simply shrugged my shoulders, rubbed my boot against the barrel I was sitting on, and looked at the ground, trying to avoid eye contact with anyone while Hiccup went on. I didn't look up again until I heard him let out a sigh and I took this as an opportunity to begin apologizing.
"Look, Hiccup," I said jumping off of the barrel "I'm sorry for going riding without telling you. I-"
"What even made you want to ride Barf and Belch in the first place? He isn't even your dragon."
I let out a nervous laugh. "Well…" I scratched the back of my head and started telling Hiccup and the others about how both Barf and Belch and I were bored and everything else that led up to them finding me about to fall to my death. Though, I left out a few parts since I had a feeling some of the things I did would probably make Hiccup angrier.
When I finished, no one said anything to me. It stayed like that for a few minutes before Tuffnut decided to break the silence. "Looks like me and Ruffnut have become an influence on the chief's daughter."
"You promise you're not going to tell dad what I did, right?" I asked Hiccup when we landed in the middle of the plaza. I've been trying to convince him ever since we left the academy to keep my "adventure" a secret between us but he's not the easiest person to argue with. I've even tried to pull up a few of our past secrets we've promised to keep, but none of those seemed to help me. "You know dad would kill me if he found out I went flying on a dragon that wasn't Toothless or Thornado."
"I'm still thinking about it Enya." Hiccup said as we started towards our house "Right now, don't you think you should go apologize to someone?"
"Who?"
Hiccup nodded his head to the right and I turned to see what he was looking at. It was the twin's house.
"Them?" I raised an eyebrow "Who do I have to apologize to them?"
Hiccup crossed his arms and looked from me to the Thorston house. "You know why."
"They don't even seem like they're angry over what I did!" He continued to do nothing but stare at me until I finally gave in. "Fine," I huffed "If it will make you happy." I turned away from Hiccup and started toward the twin's house.
When I reached the door, I turned around to see if Hiccup was still watching me. Unfortunately, he was. I rolled my eyes and knocked on the door.
"Come in." I heard Ruffnut say and I went on in.
Almost as soon as I walked through the door, I was almost knocked to the floor by someone pushing me back. When I was able to focus again, I saw nothing but a pair of sharp gray eyes.
"What are you doing here?" Tuffnut asked, hanging upside down from a board on his ceiling. I blinked a couple of times to stop myself from staring into his eyes and took a few steps back.
"I came to talk. Where's your sister?"
"She's around. Why do you want to talk to her?" He asked and jumped down onto the ground "Why not just talk to me?" He got a goofy smile on his face and, even though I tried to hide it, I couldn't help but laugh.
"Just get your sister." Tuffnut shrugged and called for his sister. A few seconds later she jumped from the same board Tuffnut was on and landed beside her brother.
"You called?"
"So, what did you want to talk to us about?" Tuffnut asked.
I let out a sigh and rubbed the back of my neck. "I came here to say I'm sorry for stealing your dragon, and going for a ride without telling you."
The twins started to look from me to each other.
"Alright." Tuffnut shrugged.
I scrunched my eyebrows together. "Alright what?"
"We'll forgive you stealing Barf and Belch."
I smiled at them. "Thanks guys. I had a feeling you wouldn't-"
"On one condition." Ruffnut cut me off.
I frowned at her. "Condition?" She nodded her head. "We'll forgive you if you convince your dad to let us off of our punishment."
I clenched my teeth together and closed my eyes. "This stupid sub-" I started but quickly stopped myself. I took in a deep breath and let it out. "Fine, I'll see what I can do." I opened my eyes and saw both of them staring at me. "Is that the only thing you two want?" Both of them looked at each other and shrugged.
"Yeah." Ruffnut said.
"Good," I said and opened the door "I'm going home."
"Wait, Enya!" Ruffnut yelled and I turned to face at her. "Why don't you have Tuffnut walk you home?" Ruffnut snickered and her brother looked like he was about to punch her.
"Alright." I said shrugging.
Tuffnut immediately looked at me. "What?"
"Yeah Tuff, why don't you walk me home? It's not like my house is almost right in front of yours. And who knows, I could easily get lost walking up my hill." Tuffnut glared at me and I simply smiled at him as I walked out the door.
