*THGM: 4th Annual*

Well, we're in the final few chapters. Gosh, I still just can't even begin to explain how close I came to these people. I still have a big group of them that I talk to. We make plans to go to Disney one day ;) Anyways, here is the next chapter.

Chapter 9: Final Arena: Day 2

*S*

The next morning was hard. Seeing Cherish's face in the sky was a whole nother trip into guilt land. I looked around and shake my head. Kate stood at the edge of our tile and glared after the retreating back of a City tribute.

"DANG IT" she screamed after her. She threw a bit of a tantrum for a while before plopping down next to Kate and I.

"No use," I say to Kate. "We'll get her anyway." I look over. "Come on lets move." We see Pace run over to a lower area, so we follow him quickly. We were going after the City tribute, but we didn't expect her to have friends. I feel two hits and flinch back. I see Pace's twin Paisley standing there looking at her brother in horror. He hadn't expected him to be with us.

Elise took a hit from the guy with Paisley and hit him back. Eliciting an attack from Paisley as well. I stood, frozen and watched as both Kate and Elise fought off our attackers. I was not cut out for this at all. I see Pace take off back to where we came from and join him. Elise follows me, but Kate goes after a backpack that floated down from the sky. We are soon joined by another desert tribute who says he's from District 7. We lay down breathing heavy and sounds of fighting drift across the river towards us.

Elise and sit up and try to see who it is, but the river is too wide for us to make out the figures. We just see silver flashes from city tributes, and a lone gold shimmer. We let out a small sigh of relief when two more gold shimmers join the first, and we see a silver flash go down, and a canon shot rang out. The group scatters, but I see one lone gold and silver flashes fighting. Then the silver flash goes down, and yet another canon is fired.

Then a city tribute (judging from the silver flash) darted at the desert tribute, apparently bent on getting revenge for his fallen allies. He didn't last very long either. And for the third time that day, a canon shot rang out through the arena. Then, from the direction we came, a new canon was fired.

"What the heck?" I asked Elise. Today was just so full of death, I felt like I could break down at any moment. I closed my eyes and wiped away a lone tear that slipped down my cheek. Sure, none of our allies died, well, that I knew of. The last canon could have been anyone. But it was just too much to handle, and the heat was definitely getting to me.

I lie down next to Elise, and close my eyes. Pace and Wyatt were back to back a few feet away. For now, we were safe. But we didn't have Kate with us for the first night since this started. I felt a little panicked at that thought, but I bet Kate out of all of us could keep going. She had a purpose in this arena. She had anger, and anger would push her through and help her to survive.

At last I drifted off into an uneasy sleep.
