AN: Hello everyone and Happy New Year! Sorry it has been so long, but it was holiday and I was lazy, but University has started again so I have a good four hours on the train every day, so writing is back on. I will try and update this more often than I was before as I really want to get to the chapters that I have been dying to write. Unfortunately this chapter isn't as long as I wanted it to be, it was going to have more to it, but as I wrote the final words it just seemed to be the perfect end to the chapter, so I let it be. Please enjoy.

Jake watched nervously as Spud opened the door to Mythology. Standing in front of the room was professor Rotwood, watching them carefully over his monocle. Jake looked to Danny, there was a strange expression on his face that Jake couldn't quite place, it looked almost as if he was irritated and shocked at the same time, but was almost instantly replaced by one of complete and utter defeat. Jake made a mental note to ask Danny about it later. "Good morning Professor Rotwood." Jake said, in the politest way he could possibly manage. "This is Danny Phantom," Jake gestured to the ghost boy, who walked forward upon hearing his name, "he is a pen pal of mine and will be staying with me for a while."

Rotwood turned his attention from Jake to Danny, a puzzled expression crossing his face, "Phantom, was it?" he asked in his thick German accent.

"Yes Professor." Danny replied

"That is a peculiar surname." the professor said, raising one orange brown eyebrow.

"I didn't choose it." Danny said flatly, the irritated expression returning.

"Well no, I suppose you didn't," Rotwood said, eyeing Danny carefully, probably searching for any sign that he was actually a magical creature.

"Yo Mister-" Trixie began

"Professor." Rotwood corrected irritably, instantly focusing his attention on Trixie.

"Professor Rotwood," she said, rolling her eyes. "I dunno about you, but the rest of us have class."

"Do not give me that attitude Miss Carter! Now go take your seats, and you" Rotwood said pointing his ever present presentation stick at Danny, "find a seat and be quiet."

"Yes sir." Danny said respectfully nd turned to look at Jake. Jake gestured to Danny and showed him to an empty seat right behind him.

Once he had sat down, Jake looked to his left and smiled at Trixie, he mouthed the words Thank you and got a smile and a nod in return. If it hadn't been for Trixie's little distraction they would have probably still been standing on display in the front of the room.

"All right class," Rotwood said, tapping his stick on the board, "today we will be a myth or reality lesson, followed by a quiz. For those of you who don't know what myth or reality is," Rotwood looked directly at Danny "I will tell you a myth or legend, from a reputable source with facts, and you will tell me if you think it is real or not." Rot wood walked to his desk and grabbed a diary out of his drawer, he flipped to a bookmarked page and read silently for a few moments. "Ah yes, we did Gargoyles last week, this week we will be discussing ghosts."

Danny could feel his eye twitching. It was official, the universe hated him. He was sitting behind a strange desk, in a strange school, far from home, watching the creepy guy from the window, watch him. Rotwood only took his dark eyes off of Danny to check the book he was reading the ghost myth from. What Danny hated the most about this situation though, more than the constant scrutiny from the mad professor, was the fact that he was actually listening and taking notes. He couldn't help it, the story was fascinating and would come in handy the day the universe, inevitably, pitched him against Overlord Skadu, the most powerful ghost to ever exist, according to Rotwood's book at least.

"The Overlord claimed many lives in his vicious reign and was thought to be indestructible." Rotwood read, "As his reign continued he grew over confident and when twelve powerful mages came to seal away his power, he let his guard down and they were able to win. Legend foretells that the seal was never meant to be permanent, it was only supposed to hold him until a strong enough warrior could destroy the wicked Skadu." Rotwood snapped the book shut and put it down on his desk. "Now, who thinks this is real?" Danny was about to raise his hand when he suddenly noticed no one else had. To his left he could see Trixie and Spud staring at him in shock, along with a few other people.

'Oh crud,' he thought looking himself over 'what did I do?'

"None of you think this story is true?" Rotwood asked in mock Surprise, snapping Danny out of his search for what ghostly thing he had done to stun everyone. The Professor waited for a moment before continuing. "Well, for once, you are all correct. Who can tell me why?" A large blonde boy, most likely Dash's long lost brother, raised his hand. "Yes Mr Morton?"

"Cause ghosts don't exist." he replied in a mocking tone.

"Correct," Rotwood said, "Now everyone please keep only a pen on your desk, we will be starting the quiz immediately." The entire class chorused in groans as Rotwood handed out papers to everyone, including Danny."

'Well this is just stupid' Danny thought, reading through the questions and possible answers on the multiple choice test. 'The man clearly knows nothing about actual magical creatures, well neither do I, but I've fought a few of their ghosts and read plenty of Sam's books. Where does he even get this stuff!' Danny hoped this test was the last part of this lesson, he really wanted to read through those notes he had taken, something about them was bugging him, the story was familiar, almost like he had heard it before.

'There is something wrong with that boy' Rotwood thought as he watched Danny Phantom going through the test, a rather irritated expression n his face. Something was very wrong about that boy and it wasn't just his strange hair and vivid green eyes, or the fact that he was the first child Rotwood had ever seen taking down notes in his class. That admittedly had shocked him, he, along with all the other students had actually stared at the boy in absolute shock. Even now when the boy was looking down at a piece of paper, like every other teen in the room, he stood out. It was unnerving being in the child's presence. Granted Rotwood had at first thought the boy may be a dragon or some other magical creature in disguise, but know he wasn't so sure. There was no doubt in his mind Danny Phantom knew about magical creatures, which explained why Danny and Jake's expressions mirrored each others as they took the test, but Danny didn't seem to be a part of it.

Rotwood felt a chill run down his spine when the boy looked up and their eyes met. Somewhere deep down, a primal part instinct in Rotwood stirred, whenever those eyes looked at him, the instinct to flee. He had never seen eyes like Danny Phantom's before, it wasn't just the colour that made them so different. It was perplexing, the boy was clearly still young, but his eyes were most definitely not. They were wise far beyond their years, even wiser than those of his professors at University, and his, although he would never admit that to anyone. But those eyes were cold as ice. Rotwood continued to watch the boy right up until the point he quietly left the room. Instantly the unnerving feeling was gone and the room itself actually felt slightly warmer. Yes, there was definitely something very wrong about Danny Phantom, but for the first time in his life Rotwood wasn't sure if he wanted to know what.
