Birthday: Franky- March 9th: Yakuza Boss
"Hey! Dock Five to unload!"
"Dock Nine's done! Someone check the manifesto for damaged goods due to Sea King!"
"Dock One's overloaded! Get moving! We lose the load and someone's gonna be payin' for it!
*Squawk! Cluck! Cluck!*
"Crap! Chickens loose on Dock Two!"
*Chawlk-caw!*
"I thought you said they were CHICKENS! No way these are chickens!"
"I thought they were! Eeooowwch! Blasted stupid birds! Stop biting me!"
*Snort.*
"Look at those morons. Heh heh, they always get stuck with the weird loads. What idiots."
"You've not got much room to talk, Mark. You've always got to unload the Boss' boat; that's not much better than the boys there."
"Tell me about it, last time he ordered some weird machine that spewed bubbles of perfume every time someone walked by it. But I'm not questioning it, no way; I'm not that dumb. I saw what happened to last one who did that." *Shudder.* "No thanks."
"Yeah, Boss is brutal when he wants to be….You heard about the meeting comin' up? Supposed to be all the big heads in one place…be cool to see what it's all about. They tell anybody where it's bein' held yet?"
"Not yet. Don't try to get in though; I heard they hired some of Al-Kutbay's spies for the security. One's trained by Mr. Prince. You don't mess with someone like that man, it's never worth it."
"I don't know, a meeting between Boss, the Galley-La shipwrights, Mayor Iceburg and supposedly Al-Kutbay himself? Might be worth a try."
"You want to be cannon fodder? Sure, man, you do that. Don't be surprised if ya get shipped out the next day though. Boss doesn't like waste; they'll make ya useful before they kill ya…that's if you survive whatever mission they give ya. Don't risk it man, it's not worth whatever ya hear."
"C'mon Mark, stop bein' such a downer. I said it might be worth a try, didn't say I was actually going to try. Everyone, including the dumbos over there, knows that it's suicide to try. I was just yankin' your chain. It's so nice to know you care though man… you sure you're not gettin' soft in your old age? Ow! Hey, no need for violence."
"There's always a need for violence around you Johnny-boy. Always. Otherwise that big head of yours might deprive the rest of us of the oxygen we need to survive."
"You're just hung up on the fact that Lady Kiwi and Lady Mozu like me better than you. Face it Mark, I'm just that good. Ha ha!"
"The only possible reason why Boss hasn't killed you for flirting with them is that they convinced him you didn't mean any of it. If they hadn't, we wouldn't be having this conversation…'cause you'd be dust in the wind; especially now that Boss got his new weapons …yeah, you'd be toast."
*Shudder.* "Don't I know it. That's why I make sure they know I'm joking…I'd rather stay in one piece thanks. But I don't know if Boss would be the one to take me out, I mean, the ladies might do it, or one of their brothers….Scary family ya know?"
"Yeah, I—" *Crash! Squawk!* "Calypso drown it! I'm going to kill those two morons if they damage the merch! C'mon Johnny-boy, let's go beat on some incompetents."
"Woo! Finally! I've been wantin to do that since they got here. They've been annoying the hell out of me with all their whining. Don't give me that disappointed look Mark, I know you've been itchin' to get your hands on them too…heh, everyone has."
"You've been spending a lot of time looking at the docks, Fra-Kumicho-san (1). Something wrong?"
"Naw…just some idiots Uso-"
"Ah-ah! We've got to practice Kumicho-san. We can't slip up in case the Marines find us out. That's why we aren't even letting Iceburg-san know who we really are, even when we know he can keep it a secret."
"He probably already knows; if he doesn't, he'll know by the end of the meeting. I get it though…I just don't get how you were able to keep this a secret from everyone for so long. I had no idea…and we've had dealings before this. I should have known."
"Don't worry about it. Postverta helped a lot, so it shouldn't be very surprising that it was kept such a secret. I don't understand why you wouldn't know who Mr. Prince was though, isn't it kind of obvious? The glasses are the only thing that changes."
"Well…sure, he looks the same, but…he walks different, acts different- even around women- and he's not as volatile. It just threw me off." *Shrug.* "I wasn't expecting it, so I didn't look for it."
"Makes sense I guess. How's business going? Any big buyers coming out of the woodwork? Any raids? What? What's with the look? Those are valid questions!"
"Ones ya don't have to ask. You already know what's going on so there's no point in asking. Besides, you'd be the one to tell me if there was a buyer coming or a raid on the way. Huh…. There's not much we can talk about if we're trying to avoid being found out is there? Whatever…" *Yawn.* "I'm gonna get some cola and grab a snooze before the big meet-n-greet. Wake me up so I can eat before it starts alright Uso-"
"AH-AH!"
"—Al-Kutbay-san? I'm beat. Unless you wanted some sleep too?"
"Nah, it's no problem, Kumicho-san. Thanks to all these reports, I won't be able take a break for a while. Enjoy whatever rest you get though, I've got the feeling that things are going to speed up after this."
AN: Konbanwa, minna-san! I tried something different for this chapter, but I hope it's understandable. I had the urge to experiment and decided see if I could use mostly dialogue and have it make sense. Let me know if I succeeded or not please! Unsurprisingly, this is probably the shortest chapter in this story. The next chapter will be the last and will be posted on April 1st. Ja ne, minna-san!
(1) not a name, but the title of the head of a yakuza family (from Wikipedia)
