Davina Clare entered Paris on that windy evening. She was wearing a white dress and a brown leather shawl that contained all her possessions in the world. Davina was no ordinary girl, she was a witch. She's run far and wide to escape her abusive family. Davina wanted to start over in a different part of the world where her family will never find her. She from New Orleans in the New World and she'd hitchhiked on a Merchant's ship to Great Britain. She'd spent a few mouths there before leaving for France on a Navy vassal. Her family wanted to sacrifice her in some insane ritual. Davina didn't know what she was going to do next but she wanted to find home. She wanted that feeling, an attraction to a place and if she felt that then she'd stay.
But where was she going to stay tonight? Davina spotted a tavern ahead and decided to spend the night there. On her travels she's worked odd jobs to earn money. Davina's French was shaky so she knew she'd have to be careful. As she neared the place she heard the noise of bawdy songs, a violin being played badly, laughed and smelt a strong scent of alcohol and body odour. The building itself looked at least two hundred years old. The place was crowded with people from the young to the old. The light of the candles burned brightly as the out-of-tune singing roared on enthusiastically. The Land Lord was behind the bar and was cleaning the side down. Davina decided to approach him.
"Can-I-get-room...merci" Davina said in her broken French.
The Land Lord smiled kindly at the foreigner and took a key from his belt and gestured her to follow him upstairs. Davina followed the man until the reached the door on the far end. He unlocked the door and showed her in. It was a decent room with a single bed and a chest-of-of-draws that looked slightly battered but Davina didn't mind. It'd been too long since she's slept in a proper bed. Usually she camps in places like abandoned churches and barns. The room had a small fire place which filled her with warmth. She turned to the Land Lord and tried to think of the right words.
"How...um" Davina tried to think, "...much?"
The man put two fingers up.
"Deux Franks" he told her.
Davina nodded her head and fetched the money which she soon produced and then asked him something else.
"Food?" Davina hoped she'd used the right word.
The man nodded.
"Petit-déjeuner à huit" the man spoke.
Davina didn't understand what he was saying. The man motioned food by pretending to eat something when she nodded he then put 8 fingers up. Davina nodded in understanding that food was served at eight. The man waved her goodbye and left. Davina sighed and thought about her new life and wondered where it would take her...

The rest of the family arrived at Lexi's party. Kol was dressed in a silver suit with green stripes and he's got a tricorne hat that's deep blue with an orange feather. Elijah was wearing a white suit with golden zigzags and a hat with a question mark on it. Rebekah is wearing a gown that is half silver on the right and the other half black. A mask is on her face in the shape of a gold lightning bolt and on the right side of the mask is black and the left is silver. Her hair is worn up fashionably.
Since Lexi is the host she must greet all of her guests with kindness and hospitality- no matter how she feels about them. She wasn't surprised to see that Finn and chosen not to attend the event. Lexi approached them with a forced smile.
"Welcome to the party!" she beamed, "As your hostess, I hope you have a delightful evening, If there is anything you require then just ask me and I will see what I can do. I like to look after my guests"
"Thank you" Elijah thanked, "Do you know where my brother is?"
"He's somewhere around" she shrugged.
...
"Are these for us?" Damon grinned, pointing at the food on the table.
"Help yourselves" Elena welcomed.
"I don't mind if I do" Damon grinned with the subtext all too clear.
Caroline and Elena were helping out in the kitchen. The numerous cooks, maids and servants all bustled about their business. The best cake artists in Paris was fussing over their creations before they went before the Aristocracy. A strong smell of icing, champagne and cakes filled the room with it's delicious aroma. Caroline and Elena had offered to help but the cooks would not stand for it because in their words: you'll mess with the masterpiece! So they resolved to help with the trays. Every tray was got to be organised to perfection. A cook had quickly whipped up the Salvatore brothers a dinner before getting back to the task at hand.
Damon and Stefan sat down and began to eat their dinner. Damon was eyeing up the olive beauty before him while his brother was looking at the stunning blond. Pork, potatoes and carrots was quickly consumed with some spring water.
"Do you work here?" Damon asked Elena.
"No" Elena shook her head, "My mistress is a guest. She's the Duchess of Champagne and she rarely comes to Paris"
Damon looked her up and down which made Elena blush.
"What a shame" Damon grinned, "We've been all around France you know. Maybe I'll see you again"
"Maybe you will" Elena teased, "I'll bring my boyfriend to one of your performances"
Damon's face dropped but said nothing and continued eating his food. Stefan had finished his dinner and was looking at Caroline who was grinning at Elena's rejection.
"Do you work here?" Stefan questioned.
"Yes Sir" Caroline nodded, "I'm Miss Branson's Lady's maid"
Stefan smiled at her.
"Maybe I'll see more of you?"
Caroline was smiling back.
Klaus entered the kitchen and caught the scene. Caroline and some boy were leering at each other. Jealousy stabbed him in the heart like blade. Klaus wanted to break the musician's neck for even looking at his Caroline. His possessive side was threatening to spill to the surface. Caroline saw him and her smile dropped immediately.
"Klaus" she said before getting up, "Can we speak in private please?"
"Follow me" Klaus answered in a frosty tone.
When they left Stefan and Damon looked at Elena inquiringly.
"What was all that about?" Damon asked her.
Elena shrugged.
Caroline and Klaus were in a concealed part of the garden. None of the guests or the staff could see them. Klaus still felt and looked betrayed. Caroline felt a little guilty but she didn't know why; he didn't love her after all.
"You said in your letter that you wanted my help" Klaus reminded her.
"Can you help me?" Caroline sounded panicked.
Did Klaus want to help her- yes. He could tell that she really cared for her sister and her concern was clear in her face. But that doesn't mean he can't use this to his advantage. What did he want in return?
"I will help you on one condition" Klaus told her.
Caroline frowned slightly, did he want to take her back into that dungeon? She hoped not.
"What is it?" Caroline wondered.
"I want to spend my Sundays with you. Every week we will meet promptly at nine at the Fontaine des innocents and then I shall decided what we do for the day. Do you agree?" Klaus asked her.
Caroline expected something terrible but his proposal actually filled her with joy. The idea of seeing him every week suddenly made the world a lot brighter.
"I agree" Caroline excepted.
Her acceptance made him happier then he's care to admit. All that remained was to sort out his siblings...
...
"What is it Elijah?" Kol slurred.
Kol was chatting up the Duke of Bourbon's daughter, Lady Annette. She was deeply beautiful but now her face was twisted in disgust as this drunk man tried to woo her. Kol couldn't understand why she was rejecting him. Elijah had come to the girl's rescue and distracted his brother long enough for her to escape.
"Now look what you've done!" Kol huffed, "She was close to giving in to me"
Kol lost his balance and held a table for support. Elijah rolled his eyes at his brother's disgraceful and very public behaviour.
"You are drunk brother" Elijah pointed out, "I've sent for a carriage to take you home and it's just outside"
Rebekah made an appearance and scoffed at her brother's behaviour like it was typical Kol...and it was. Kol tried to grab another drink but they managed to stop him. It was getting embarrassing because people were staring.
"Rebekah, make sure he get's safely home will you. I'll talk to Klaus" Elijah ordered.
She didn't seem very happy with the new arrangement.
"Why?" she moaned, "I'm enjoying the party and I want to see Klaus. Why should I miss it just to take care of-"
Elijah gave his sister a hard which silenced her.
"Fine" Rebekah gave in, "Come one then"
She took her brother out of the room leaving Elijah alone. Klaus appeared with that blond girl that he seems to like to much. They both caught each others eye. Brother and brother stared at each for a moment before they approach each other. Klaus is feeling irritated at his brother attempts to get his attention.
"Hello brother" Klaus spoke first.
"Brother" Elijah said.

1741 Dover
Gabriella was tired and looking forward to her bed. She'd spent to whole day looking after her Mistress, Mrs Alice Turner was a large and rich English merchant's wife who she served. Alice was fat, rude, snobbish and treated her servants like dirt. Gabby hated her with a passion. She thought she could speak French and sometimes gave her orders in gibberish which she was supposed to obey. Mrs Turner was ugly too and stank of onions. Her gluttony held no bounds and was constantly ordering cake and other such things. Her husband was Mr Jack Turner and was a wealthy cotton merchant who was rarely ever home. He was extremely thin and haughty. Gabby hated them both.
She'd long stopped mourning her old life and adjusted to the fact that she'll never be happy again. Her so called love had married someone else, somebody much richer then herself. Gabby missed her sisters more then anything else. Caroline and Elena were constantly in her thoughts. She too had got the message about her father coming into the waking world but like her elder sister she wasn't interested. Before she could reach her room a man stood before the door which blocked her exit.
"Who are you?" Gabby demanded.
"How would you like to go back to France and to your sisters?" the man asked her.
He was handsome with brown hair but his body language was not welcoming. Gabby felt very afraid of this person.
"I'd love to but I can't" she told him plainly.
"What if you could?" he challenged.
This man was beginning to annoy her. She tried to push past him but to no avail.
"I'm offering you a way out" he explained, "Do you want to be free of that hag or not?"
"Of course I want to be free!" she snapped.
The man smiled at her confession.
"Then come with me"
"I'm not going anywhere until you tell me who you are" Gabby yelled.
The man smiled before revelling his name:
"Finn Mikaelson"
