A/N: Thank you all soo much for the comments, the follows, and the favorites! I love when people say things like that So, I will try to make a very long chapter about Danielle and Dylan's escape from the arena…
I woke up very early the next morning with a start, immediately remembering that today I'm escaping from the arena. Dylan was still asleep, so I figured that I had some time to say my last goodbyes to the arena that I had spent over a year in. I ran my hand over the rocks of the cave one more time. I took a couple more leaps off the rope swing, knowing that I would miss it a lot. I walked past all the streams that I had bathed in, trees that I had climbed, and bushes that I had hid behind. I knew that I would see the cornucopia again before I left, so I skipped that long walk and instead went back to the cave, where Dylan had woken up.
"Hey" I said to him.
"Hey," he replied. "Ready to leave?" I sighed, took one last look around, and nodded. So we set off to the cornucopia. We knew that these capitol tours take the whole day and start early. In fact, when we got back to the cornucopia, people were just starting to file through the gate.
"Should we just escape through that gate right now?" I asked Dylan. He violently shook his head.
"No, we definitely shouldn't. On the other side, there are gates to pass through armed with security guards during the whole tour." I had no idea what the use of security guards would be but I figured the capitol goes to excess measures with everything so there must be some reason behind it. Dylan and I blended in with the crowd and sat with the spectators.
I watched the person that was playing me. She went to extreme measures with everything, and ate some obviously fake berries very dramatically and fell to the ground very flamboyantly. I shook my head in disgust.
Other than that, I watched Clove get smashed with a rock; Rue get shot and Katniss trying to save her, Cato get struck with a bow and arrow and everything else that I witnessed first hand about a year ago. When someone announced, "that's all everybody, it's time to leave the arena," my heart started racing and Dylan and I looked at each other.
We took some tentative steps towards the exit, and started to blend into the crowd. It was a very long and confusing walk to the gate, which is probably why I never realized it was there before. I turned back and looked at the arena one more time before stepping out into the normal world again. Dylan looked at me and I just raised my eyebrows. We did it! We got out of the arena successfully!
I grinned as I saw the capitol. The other side of the gate just showed a parking lot. Capitol citizens were getting in their cars to drive home. The cars were just as extravagant as the people, ranging in size, shape, color, and even things sticking off from them.
"So… now what?" I asked Dylan. We hadn't really considered that part of the plan.
He shook his head. "I don't know. But I'll stay with you until you find your parents. I looked at him and smiled, the biggest smile that I had made in a long time, if not ever.
"How can I ever thank you? I'm sure your parents are dying to know where you are too."
"Yeah, I'm sure they are. But maybe this will help you to thank me." He leaned in and kissed me, right in the middle of the parking lot.
A/N: Cheesy, cheesy, cheesy, I know, but I just couldn't help it! Sorry, I was expecting this chapter to be longer than it actually was, but I'll try to update again as soon as I can!
