Hotch entered the hospital room Emily was staying in with a large red box in his hands. Emily smiled up at him from her bed, lowering her gaze as she spotted the intriguing box he held. She had already received lots of flowers, magazines, balloons and grapes, but Hotch knew what she really wanted right now.
"Hey," she greeted him, her eyes still shifting between his and the gift in his hands.
She'd been in hospital for two days now and was starting to look a lot better already. This was the first time since she'd been admitted Hotch had managed to be alone with her. "Hey," he repeated back to her, showing off his dimples. "I got you something, I think you're going to like."
"Ooooo, what is it?" She grinned at him, slowly moving herself into an upright position.
He passed her the present, watching her reaction carefully as she gently pulled at the red packaging. Her eyes lit up when she realised what it was. Chocolates. "Thank you so much Aaron, I love them," she said, opening the box up.
Did she just call me Aaron? His smile widened at that thought. "Your very welcome. How are you feeling today?"
"Much better now I have chocolate," she answered, bringing one of the chocolates up and into her mouth. "Do you want one?"
"No thank you, you enjoy them." Emily's eyes followed Hotch as he moved around the bed and settled down in a seat at her side.
"Thanks Hotch, these are awesome." Awesome? This is a different side to Emily. "You really didn't have to get me anything"
"I know, but I wanted to." The site of the happy woman in front of him almost caused him to forget what had happened to her. Her face was still covered in bruises, but the swelling had reduced noticeably. Despite the coloured marks, she still looked unbelievably beautiful to him. "It seems you're enjoying them anyway," Hotch pointed out, with a chuckle, as Emily placed another chocolate in her mouth.
Emily laughed at this causing Hotch's heart to jump in his chest, as he heard the familiar sound he loved. Suddenly she flung her hands to her ribs and released a loud cry of pain. Hotch sprung up out of his seat, hovering over her with a horrified expression slapped on his face. "Emily what's wrong? Should I get a doctor? Are you …"
"Hotch, I'm fine." She beamed up at him as the pain subsided. "It just hurts when I laugh, that's all." She had to hold back another giggle as she took in his overreaction.
Hotch smiled back at the woman he loved, moving away from her slightly. "Can I get you anything?"
"I have everything I need right here."
"What?" Hotch questioned, starring intensely into her dark brown eyes.
She gestured to the chocolates on her lap and Hotch's lips dropped and his heart sank as he realised what she meant. He quickly forced a smile back onto his face, hoping she hadn't noticed his disappointment. He still wanted to tell her how he felt, but not yet, not while she was dealing with so much. He sat back down, dragging the chair closer to her bed.
Emily held out her hand to Hotch and he gladly excepted it, holding onto it tightly. "Aaron, there's something I've been wanting to say to you for nearly two days now."
"Okay." Hotch gazed at her apprehensively.
"Thank you for saving me." Once again tears started to appear in the beautiful agents eyes. "And I'm sorry I tried to stop you from…"
"Emily you don't have to apologise for anything that happened that day, none of it was your fault." She nodded at him, as more liquid streamed down her cheeks.
Hotch leapt up from his seat for a second time, leaning his weight on the edge of her bed, as he pulled her into his arms carefully. She rested her head on his shoulder and wrapped her arms around his neck, drawing him closer as she sobbed against his shirt.
Hotch rubbed soothing circles on Emily's back as she cried to him. Once the tears dried up the two agents pulled back but didn't let go of each other completely. Their fingers weaved together as they stared into each others eyes deeply.
"There's still one more thing I've been wanting to say," she announced, keeping her eyes fixed on his.
"Go ahead."
She paused for a moment thinking it through. "I love you too."
Hotch couldn't believe what he heard. Did she really just say that? Emily Prentiss loved him.
Emily flashed her teeth at the star struck agent before her, causing Hotch to grin back at her.
"You heard me the other day then?" He asked, although he already knew the answer.
"Yeah, I heard you."
Say something. Do something. Stop grinning at her like that. I bet I look like I slept with a hanger in my mouth. Hotch thought to himself, not knowing what to say. She loves me.
"Emily…" If possible Hotch's grin stretched further. "I don't know what to say. I …"
"Don't say anything." She interrupted him, pulling her fingers away from his and moving them up to his hair. She dragged his head down roughly and crashed their lips together, causing him to moan softly at the sudden contact.
"Wow," Hotch exclaimed, as they broke apart.
Not giving her time to respond to that, he brought their lips together again for a softer, more tender kiss. Hotch opened his mouth to Emily and she wasted no time entering. Their tongues caressed and explored each others mouths, as the kiss deepened further.
The two agents jumped apart as the door flew open and their gazes fell upon the smirking faces of Derek Morgan and David Rossi.
"We brought you some jello, coz we thought you might be hungry, but it looks like you've got your mouth full at the moment, so we'll come back later." Morgan said while snickering and turning away from his now red faced colleagues.
Rossi just nodded at Hotch and them swiftly followed Morgan out of the room, closing the door behind them.
"Those two are getting so much extra paperwork when we get back to work." Hotch announced with a giggle, bashfully looking down at Emily. "Now, where were we?" He pressed a light kiss against her lips, then pulled back slowly. "I love you Emily Prentiss."
"I love you too, Aaron Hotchner."
Emily carefully moved herself over on her bed making room for Hotch to sit next to her. He wrapped his arm around her as he sat down, cuddling her to his chest. Making herself comfortable, Emily lay her head down on his chest and slowly started to drift off to sleep.
Hotch glimpsed down at the gorgeous woman in his arms. He had done what he said he would do. He found her, he saved her, he told her how he felt and now she was asleep on his chest. Safe. He could stay like this forever, holding Emily Prentiss. The woman he loved. And amazingly the woman that loved him too.

Agents Morgan and Rossi walked down the hospital corridor wearing big smiles on their faces, after exiting Emily's room.
"About bloody time," David Rossi voiced to his fellow agent.
"Yeah, took 'em long enough to get it together."
"Glad they sorted it out today, JJ now owes me 20 dollars."
Morgan lost his smile at that statement. "Lucky for you man, I owe Garcia 50."
