Lily walked through the door and was greeted by no one. This didn't surprise her, and she quickly took her shoes off.
B+W testimonial: Lily looks at the camera, bemused: "Sometimes you would never guess that I had kids. They can be so quiet. Grace likes the privacy of her room, and Zoë…well, Zoë and the television are inseparable these days." She smiles, "And Jessie's always off with Katie, doing god knows what. Girl stuff. Gossiping, shopping, everything that any teenage girl could want to do. It's great, that she's got such a great friend. Katie really has been good for her," Lily smiles, "And Rick, well; he's not a kid, so I can't really say anything there. But he's been kind of quiet lately, and excited, of course. I know that him not going to Australia was a big thing to give up…and if there were any other way, I'd want him to go. But he wants to be here fore his family," she smiles broadly, "And I can't really ask for more,"
Lily padded into the living room, giving Zoë a quick kiss on the head.
"Hey, did you have a good day?" she asked. Zoë grunted but didn't give a reply as she stared at the glowing screen. Lily sighed.
"Zoë, dear, it's on commercial, I think you can talk to me," Lily prodded, and Zoë sighed.
"Fine," she muttered, turning to her mother, "I had a great day. I got a B+ on my math test, and I'm gonna be student of the week," she said huffily. Lily smiled at her, drawing her eyebrows together in confusion.
"Then why the bad mood?" Lily asked her, concerned, and Zoë rolled her eyes.
"I don't know, but it's apparently contagious," she murmured, and Lily looked at her youngest.
"What?"
"Eli was here," Zoë interrupted the conversation.
"Was he?" she asked, and Zoë nodded.
"Yeah, you just missed him," she informed Lily, her eyes still trained on the television. Lily sighed and shook her head. Some how they'd gotten off topic.
"Zoë, I asked why you were in a bad mood," Lily paraphrased her question. Zoë sighed angrily.
"Well, I wasn't, but then I got home and Grace and Eli just dragged me down with them," she seethed. Lily looked down at Zoë's head.
"Grace is in a bad mood?"
"Yeah, I guess. Apparently it's contagious," Zoë repeated, and Lily sighed. The commercials ended and Zoë's attention gravitated completely to the tv, leaving Lily to her thoughts.
"Why is Grace in a bad mood?" she wondered allowed. Zoë shushed her.

"So," Katie attempted to start a conversation in the silent car.
"So," Jessie said back, deep in thought. Katie fidgeted at the wheel, uncomfortable with the silence.
"So, how was…Dr. Rosenfeld?" Katie asked, not sure whether she was asking about the therapist or the session with the therapist.
"Katie, what are we?" Jessie asked abruptly, turning to look at the older girl. Katie bit her lip.
"Um, I'm fairly certain we're humans, Jessie," Katie said finally, trying to put humor into the serious conversation. Jessie smiled despite herself, and then shook her head. She couldn't get distracted, she had to know.
"No, I mean-"
"We're not humans?" Katie asked, raising her eyebrow and glancing at Jessie. Jessie rolled her eyes.
"Katie, can you stop, this is serious!" Jessie whispered delicately. She wasn't mad. It was Katie, after all. But she had to know.
"Okay, Jess," Katie replied quietly, silently dreading whatever it was they were going to talk about. She knew that she would take it in stride…but she was still nervous.
"I mean, what are we? Are we…just friends, or are we…more…than that?" Jessie asked, pausing and looking thoughtfully out the windshield. Katie took a deep breath.
"Well, what do you want us to be?" she asked carefully, willing herself not to glance over at the surprisingly calm Jessie. Jessie furrowed her eyebrows. She already knew the answer. But she wanted to make sure it was okay with Katie.
"I…I want us to be…more," Jessie decided, blinking and breaking her calm streak. She sighed deeply. "I want us…to be more than friends. God Katie, I don't think I could live with us being just friends, I mean, you are just so important to me and-"
"I know, Jess," Katie gave the younger girl a reassuring smile. They'd had almost the same conversation only a short while ago. Jessie smiled back, but still looked like she had something on her mind.
"And, I just…I want to be," Jessie paused, wondering if she could even say the word. But she'd have to, eventually, either way, "I want to be yours," she finished quickly, marveling at the fact that she'd said it. Katie glanced at Jessie.
"I want to be yours, too, Jess," Katie assured, smiling lovingly at the younger blonde. Jessie smiled with relief.
"Thank god," she muttered under her breath, and Katie laughed. Jessie tensed as she thought of something.
"Um, just," she started, not sure how to phrase what was on her mind, "Is it okay if we…like, not tell anyone for now?" Jessie asked, glancing pleadingly at Katie. Katie chuckled.
"No, Jessie, I don't mind at all," she breathed, "in fact, to be totally honest, I don't think I'm quite ready for everyone to know, either," she admitted truthfully, and Jessie sighed with relief.
"Should I be offended?" she joked, lightening the mood. Katie laughed.
"No. It's just, I kind of like having something that's just so private. So…us," she whispered seriously, temporarily taking her eyes off the road and gazing at her girl. Jessie smiled.
"Well, there won't be an 'us' for long if you don't look back at the road," Jessie chastised lightly, and Katie smiled, turning her gaze to the long stretch of gray.

B+W testimonial: Karen glances up at the camera. She sighs loudly: "I never quite knew how to handle romance," she mutters finally, "It was always one of those unspoken things in my house. I always believed that bringing it up would be a bad thing. Eventually, when I did mention that I was dating someone, it wasn't that big a deal…to my parents, anyways," Karen sighs and lets out a laugh at the same time, "It was huge for me. I didn't know what to do. I really liked the guy I was dating…but I just couldn't get into it. I couldn't just jump into the relationship. I was never much of a jumper," she shakes her head, "I didn't even start jumping into the kiddie pool until I was old enough that the water barely reached my thighs," she chuckles, "And I could never go skydiving. Or even parachuting. I don't know, for most guys, that's a turn off. But…Henry doesn't seem to mind my fear of jumping. But I think I'm ready. To take a leap. Cause I'm pretty sure that Henry's waiting there to catch me," she smiles genuinely.
"So," Henry started, glancing over at Karen, "would you rather have the large, artery-clogging popcorn or the large, stomach-eating coke?" he questioned mildly, and Karen grinned.
"Hmm, I could use another hole or two in my stomach," she said finally, and Henry finished their order. A packet of sour patch kids and a large coke. Henry smiled at Karen.
"We are eating healthy today," he laughed, and Karen smiled.
"Well, what's life without a little danger?" she questioned, and Henry looked thoughtful.
"Boring," he decided. Karen nodded.
"So, what movie do you want to see next?" she asked. Henry shrugged.
"I don't care. I'm just happy to be here with you," he smiled down at her. Karen was startled by the admission, but flattered as well. She started to blush.
"Well, um, we could go see-"
"Do you really want to see another movie?" Henry interrupted, "I mean, we've seen two already today, and nothing else looks that good," he explained, and Karen thought about it.
"So, what would we do instead?" she questioned. She didn't want this date to end. It had been only movies, but it was the best time Karen thought she'd ever had on a date.
"Well, if you wouldn't mind my presence, perhaps I could cook you some dinner?" Henry suggested nonchalantly, and Karen smiled.
"I think I'd like that," she told him, grinning.
"Good, because I know I'll like it," he smiled and gave her a quick kiss, before escorting her out of the cinema.
B+W testimonial: Henry grins at the camera: "Works like a charm. Dinner and a movie…" he pauses, "Um, movies and dinner," he shakes his head, "Doesn't really matter what order. The point is that she had fun. That's all that matters. That's all that should matter, except perhaps what's for desert. Chocolate usually makes for a perfect ending to a perfect day. But then again, a whole day of movie popcorn and gummy products can kind of spoil one's appetite for desert," he chuckles, "Bah, who am I kidding? You can never have too much desert."
--
well, you can't. have too much desert, i mean.
so...love it? hate it? hate me for taking another commercial break? :P
...but still love me cause i'm writing this fic?
