Sorry about taking so long of a break. I just have had so much work to do that I could not write. Anyway, now we are actually getting caught up with the movie now so things will get more interesting.
I do not own Lord of the Rings.
Amber sat next to Frodo under a tree as they waited for Gandalf. Amber sighed and glanced at the road expectantly. Gandalf had said he would be coming, but he hadn't arrived yet. Frodo smiled as he lowered his book and said, "Don't worry, Gandalf is sure to come. He would never miss a chance to show off his fireworks."
Amber laughed lightly at the statement, but her smile faded quickly. It had not taken a few months, or any similar amount of time to get home. In fact, four years had passed since she had first fallen into Hobbiton, and a few months had passed since her twentieth birthday.
Frodo must have recognized her sad expression because he wrapped his arms around her shoulders to give her a brotherly hug. Amber smiled at the gesture. Since she had landed in Middle Earth, she had come to see Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry as brothers.
Seconds latter, they heard the sound of humming come from the direction of the road. Frodo smiled at Amber, and raced to meet Gandalf. He crossed his arms and looked down at Gandalf as he said, "You're late." Gandalf continued to look Froward as he said, "A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. He than turned to look at both Amber and Frodo as he said, "Nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to."
For a minute, The three of them looked seriously at each other. After a minute, Both Gandalf and Frodo bust out laughing, and Amber smiled in amusement. Frodo said, "It's wonderful to see you Gandalf!", before he jumped down to give the wizard a hug. Gandalf's eyes twinkled as he said, "You didn't think I'd miss your Uncles birthday did you?"
Amber laughed, carefully jumped down after Frodo and said, "It is good to see you again Gandalf!" Gandalf smiled and hugged her briefly before he stepped back and said, "I am afraid that I did not find any information about the strange stones or the portals. I am sorry."
Amber nodded sadly, while she was disappointed, she was not surprised. No matter how hard he searched, Gandalf could find no mention of the portals or the strange stones. "However," Gandalf added, "I haven't had the chance to ask everyone yet. There may yet be a person who will know something. I suspect Lord Elrond of Rivendale may know something or someone who can help."
Amber nodded and sat down next to Frodo who chatted merrily with Gandalf on the way to the Shire. Amber listened vaguely when Frodo mention Bilbo's condition. It had been strange to see Bilbo acting in a way that was so unnatural for him. But her mind didn't dwell on that for long. Instead, it slipped back to her family.
Amber couldn't help but think that Nate would be sixteen by now. It hurt her to know that she had missed seeing her sister ad twin brother for so long. Amber shook her head sharply, she couldn't allow herself to mope around and bemoan the fact that things didn't go her way.
The cart slowed down and Frodo stood up and Amber followed his example. Frodo smiled at the wizard and said, "Gandalf, I'm glad you're back." Gandalf smiled at him and said, "So am I, dear boy."
Amber walked with Frodo for a while before he said, "Perhaps we could go help with setting up the party. That might keep your mind off how much you miss your family." Amber looked at her feet as she mumbled, "Sorry." Frodo smiled sadly at her as he said, "It's okay, I couldn't imagine being away from my Uncle for four whole year."
Amber nodded as she followed him to where several hobbits were already setting up. Pippin and Merry stood up and walked over to where they were standing. Pippin grinned up at Amber and asked, How are you on this fine day?" Amber laughed as she said, "I'm fine, but shouldn't you be helping?"
Pippin nodded as he said, "We are helping! We're, um, we're ..." Merry interrupted to blurt out, "We're supervising!" Pippin nodded as he said, "Yeah, were supervising this ...group." Frodo shook his head as he said, "Well, now you have to work, and for real this time." Pippin ad Merry stared at each other for I minute before Merry said, "I think I hear someone calling for us. They probably need our help!" Pippin nodded quickly as he said, "We should go help them!" A second later, both hobbits had turned around and raced off in the opposite direction.
Frodo sighed and Amber laughed as she said, "They really don't like to work, do they?" Frodo smiled grudgingly as he said, "No they don't."
So, How was this chapter? It was sort of short, but I was relatively pleased with the way that it went. Next chapter will take part during Bilbo's party. Please review, but try to avoid flaming this.
