Hi!

Okay, here is another chapter for you all…this is kinda a funny, lovey, suspenseful chapter…I had fun writing it and when I told my best friend about it, she cracked up and loved it and gave me ideas. My best friend is Moya, and the character Moya is based on her. So these next two chapters are kinda a tribute to her because she's awesome. It's also a long chapter too...

Chapter Nine: Dancing & Trolls Galore

Kirra's POV

After the chat in the ruined house, I could feel that things were running more smoothly. Although he hadn't said anything yet, I knew Thorin was on his way to trusting me and I was beginning to trust him, as we had too, especially in this world. Even now, as we all stood around the campfire, I could feel his eyes resting on me. it was hard, trusting someone, but if you could understand someone, it might become a little easier.

We all stood around the campfire, as Bombur prepared dinner, we were all involved in some task of some kind. Filli and Killi were looking after the ponies, Tamika and Anna were boxing with each other and this was causing a look among the dwarves, but when they saw that it was a fun thing between the two, they laughed at them. They were hanging out with Killi and Filli but had decided that they needed to practice their fight skills...well, what fighting skills they had. Moya was trying to calm down Bilbo, who was frantically worrying about Gandalf, who had taken off earlier in the night after the talk with Thorin. He had enough of the dwarves and needed time to himself.

The rest of the dwarves were scattered about, waiting anxiously for their food. Dwalin was keeping watch and Thorin had joined him, but I sometimes caught him looking at me, to which I blushed and kept trying to keep my focus on Bilbo and Moya. All was going okay, at least for now.

Then suddenly, a sound made everyone go quiet. I heard the faint tones of the song '(I've Had) The Time of My Life' and everyone stopped at the noise. Moya, who was talking to Bilbo, squeeked and quickly reached into her pocket and turned away from everybody. I ran up to her, wondering what was wrong.

"Moya, what the hell?" I asked her

"It's my alarm…telling me that phone is flat!" she told me.

I frowned. "Wait, your phone can make a sound when it's flat? How does that work?"

"Forget about that…what do I do?" she whispered, looking around. The dwarves were watching us with curious looks on their faces. Tamika and Anna were smiling nervously, looking at us.

"What was that?" asked Ori.

Moya and I looked at each and shrugged. How were we going to explain phones?

"Uh….well…" I turned around and sighed. "Let's see…oh fuck it…Song time!"

"Wait what?" Moya whispered to me. The dwarves had nodded and looked at us intensely.

"Just go with it…Do you remember the dance? You know the dirty dancing dance that we did to this song? You played Baby and I played Johnny. I think that if we sing, and dance, it might get their mind of the phone…well here's hoping…" I whispered and back.

She nodded. "Right….okay…right…"

"Follow my lead." I took a deep breath and started to sing. I walked to Moya and we started doing the introduction of the famous Dirty Dancing dance that had captured the world. Moya and I knew this dance off by heart as we did it for a friend's wedding as a surprise because she loved the movie and we were in the bridal party.

Now I've, had the time of my life

No I've never felt like this before

Yes I swear, it's the truth

And I owe it all to you…

Moya nodded and she started to sing the female part, while in my arms. I sneaked a look at Tamika and Anna and I could see they were giggling quietly to themselves.

Cause I've had, the time of my life

And I owe it all to you

I spined her around like Johnny did with Baby and I we started off with the famous moves. I continued to sing while dancing with her. I could see dwarves still had confused looks on their faces.

I've been waiting for long

Now I've finally find someone

To stand by me

Still dancing, Moya sighed and took the girl's part.

We saw the writing on the wall

As we felt this magical fantasy

As we danced, we started singing together. I saw that Tamika and Anna had started clapping and trying to the get dwarves involved.

Now with passion in our eyes

There's no way we could disguise it secretly

So we take each other's hand

Cause we seem to understand the urgency

I spined Moya around again, then bringing back and swaying and dancing like Johnny and Baby as we sang the bridge, leading our way into the chorus.

Just remember,

Moya smiled, shaking her head.

You're the one thing

I smiled back, and laughed.

That I can't get enough of

Moya nodded her head, as if she had the beat in her head.

So I tell you something

We stopped dancing and held our arms out, our voices getting louder as we sang the chorus.

This could be love, because,

I've had the time of my life

No I've never felt this way

Yes I swear, it's the truth

And I owe it all to you!

Cause I've had, the time of my life

And I've searched through every open door

Till I've found, the truth

And I owe it all to you!

I nodded and ran over to Tamika and Anna, dancing like Johnny when he jumped the stage. Tamika and Anna knew these steps and so I grabbed them and they were reluctant but they joined in. By then, the dwarves were clapping and laughing at us, enjoying the show. Despite the fact that we were on a hill, it was fairly easy to dance on it. I could see that Bilbo was enjoying himself and he only had eyes for Moya. I turned to see if Thorin was watching and I blushed when I saw that he was. He was smiling and looking at me.

I turned to the girls and we danced, our feet moving as if the song was playing. Moya nodded and continued to sing.

With my body and soul

I want you more than you'll ever know

I whipped my hair and swung my hips as I sang the next verse.

So we'll just let it go

Don't be afraid to lose control.

Moya swung her head back and forth, moving to the imaginary beat in our heads. Although we sang the song, it was like we were singing it live, but without music.

Yes I know what's on your mind

When you say:

"Stay with me tonight!"

I took a deep breath, getting ready to sing the bridge when suddenly Tamika and Anna started singing together. We continued to dance, dancing like Johnny.

Just Remember

You're the one thing

That I can't get enough of!

So I'll you something…

This could be love because

Tamika grabbed Ori and started to dance with him as we started to sing the chorus. Anna grabbed Balin and Moya grabbed Bilbo. I turned to Thorin and walked to him, my hand stretched out his. As the girls continued to sing, I sang quietly to Thorin.

"Cause, I've the time of my life…no I've never felt like this before…" I sang softly, my hand reaching Thorin's. We held each other's hand as the others began to dance and sing around us. The dwarves had caught onto the song and sang the lyrics. Some were singing the song wrong, but they were having fun.

But I didn't care, because I was too focused on trying to calm my beating heart. Thorin stared at me, my hand still in his and I felt his breath on me. Then he released my hand and walked off. I stared after him as he walked over to Dwalin, who was looking at us. Thorin looked back and his piercing blue eyes stared into mine.

I sighed, wondering what I did to make him walk off like that but my thoughts were interrupted by Gloin, who grabbed me and we started to dance. When the girls had stopped singing, I joined them and we bowed, the dwarves clapping and cheering then laughing when Ori asked if dinner was now ready. I looked back at Thorin, but he had his back to me. I shook my head, and looked away, confused. Why am I starting to feel this way for a certain dwarf?

Moya's POV

Dancing and singing at the same time is hard work and I bow to those who worked in that industry of acting and singing and such. I could never pursue a career in the performing arts. I mean I liked dancing and singing, don't get me wrong, but I think I'll leave that up to those who have a love for it.

After the song, Tamika, Anna, Kirra and I bowed to the dwarves, who were cheering for us. I blushed at Bilbo who kept sneaking looks at me and smiling widely at me. I was beginning to have feelings for him, but I was confused because he was a fictional character and we were stuck in a book. But I put my feelings aside when I looked at Kirra, who was staring at Thorin and he too was staring at her. It seemed I wasn't the only one who had feelings for someone who was also a fictional character.

Bombur had announced that dinner was ready and everyone grabbed a bowl. It was stew as always, and I sighed, because I was hoping for something a little different but shrugged and grabbed a bowl. I turned to Bilbo, who was looking in the distance. He was still worried about Gandalf.

"He's been a long time." He muttered, walking to me.

"Who?" Bofur asked, pouring stew into bowls.

"Gandalf…" Bilbo replied, crossing his arms.

Bofur chuckled. "He's a wizard! He does as he chooses. Here, why don't you and Moya take these to the lads?"

He handed us bowl each to give to Filli and Killi, and we nodded, walking off. I giggled to myself when Bofur scolded Bombur, who was helping himself to the stew.

Bilbo and I walked past the ponies, heading into the forest.

"You dance really well, Miss Moya." Bilbo said.

I smiled. "Thanks…and how many times must I say it? It's Moya, not Miss Moya."

Bilbo blushed. "Sorry…that dance…is it another one of your fertility dances?"

"Say what? Oh no! No, no no…it's just a fun dance. A famous dance from a movie." I told him.

He frowned. "A movie? What is that?"

"It's like a play…have you been to a play?" I asked.

He nodded. "Once…this play, what is it about?"

"Uh…its about a man and woman…and…they fall in love." I told him.

"I see…" he mumbled. We kept walking until we reached Killi and Filli, who were staring into the distance as we approached them. We handed the bowls to them but they didn't take it.

I frowned. "What's the matter?"

"Supposed to be looking after the ponies." Killi said.

"Only we've encountered a slight problem." Filli announced, turning to us.

"We had sixteen." Killi told us.

"Now there's fourteen." Filli finished.

Bilbo and I kept a hold of the bowls and we all walked over to the ponies and indeed, there were two ponies missing. Filli walked around, counting the ponies again and trying to figure out which of the ponies were missing. We stopped near a tree and a broken fence.

"Daisy and Bungo are missing." Filli told us.

Bilbo scoffed. "Well, that's not good..Ha…And that is not good at all…what should we tell Thorin?"

"Uh no…let's not worry him.." Filli hastily said. "As our official burglar, we thought you might like to look into it."

I frowned as Bilbo shrugged. "Well..uh…Look, something big has uprooted the tree."

Filli sighed. "That was our thinking."

Bilbo walked near Filli. "It's something very big and possibly quite dangerous."

Filli crouched. "Hey…there's a light…over here. Stay down!"

We all walked to Filli and crouched behind a log. I was in the middle, next to Filli and Bilbo was next to me, with Killi on his right side. Indeed, there was a light, like a campfire light and I could hear the sounds of grunting and laughter.

"What is it?" Bilbo asked quietly.

"Trolls." Killi told us.

"Trolls?...Trolls? As in big arse dudes and all that shit?" I stammered.

"I don't understand but yes.." Killi told me as he and Filli jumped up and ran a little closer to the light. Bilbo and I started to follow, until I saw Bilbo go back for the bowls. I was going to tell him to leave it but I just shook my head.

We kept running, until suddenly a large monstrous creature was walking past us with two of the ponies under its arms. I gasped, and grabbed Bilbo, and threw us against the tree, hiding from it. I looked around the tree, not believing the sight before me. It was a large monstrous troll…

"Oh shit…" I whispered under my breath.

"He's got Myrtle and Mindy! I think they're gonna eat them. We have to do something." Bilbo told us, we crouched behind another log, watching the troll carry the ponies to his camp. Killi and Filli looked at him and nodded.

"Yes you should…Mountain Trolls are slow and stupid and you're so small, so they'll never see you. It's perfectly safe, we'll be right behind you." Killi said, getting up and patting Bilbo on the back, grabbing the bowls. Bilbo and I started shaking our heads.

I shook my head. "No… no way! You are warriors! Bilbo is not! Sorry Bilbo."

Bilbo just nodded. "She's right!"

Filli got up and started to push Bilbo and myself. "Well then Miss Moya you can go with him if you're worried. If you two run into trouble, hoot twice like a barn owl and once like a brown owl."

Filli pushed us towards the trolls' camp and Bilbo muttered Filli's instructions about the owls to himself. I shook my head and turned back to the boys but they were already gone. Bilbo had also looked back and continued muttering to himself. I then heard voices talking to each other. It was the trolls. They were complaining about muttons.

Bilbo and I looked at each other and we started walking a little closer to the troll, or should I say trolls. There were three of them, two near the campfire and the one that was holding the ponies. They seemed to complain a lot. They were talking about how the ponies didn't have much fat on them and began talking about other animals. To be honest, I wasn't really paying attention to their conversation…I was more worried about my life if Bilbo and I were to get caught. Bilbo sensed my fear and so, in silent we walked closer to the ponies.

One of the trolls sneezed and the three started to argue again, one of the trolls grabbing the other. We leapt to the ponies, glad of the distraction. We reached the ponies and I could see Bilbo trying to figure out a way to free them. They were behind a broken down fence, with rope tied around it.

"What should we do?" I whispered.

"Give me a second…." Bilbo whispered back, trying to open the gate. He gently spoke to the ponies, but I was now more interested in the trolls, who were still arguing. They were so close.

Bilbo was trying to figure out how to undo the rope around the fence when one of the trolls turned around and I grabbed Bilbo pulling him down, out of sight.

"Well I hope you're gonna gut these nags…I don't like the stinky parts." The troll complained, looking at the ponies.

The troll with the spoon hit him in the head and the complaining troll howled in pain.

"I said sit down!" the one with the spoon ordered. He seemed to be the leader, whereas the complaining troll was just annoying. Bilbo got back into trying to undo the rope. I kept lookout just in case the trolls turned again.

The one on the right of the complaining troll, who had been quiet up till this point, groaned. "I'm starving! Now are we having horse tonight or what?"

"Shut your cake hole! You'll eat what I give you!" the leader growled. Bilbo frowned and stared at the troll. He seemed to be looking at the complaining troll's butt. I looked at it and there, hanging from his pants, was a knife or sword of some sort. I gasped as I realised what Bilbo wanted to do. I started shaking my head, but Bilbo squeezed my hand and looked around for ideas on how to get the sword.

"How come he gets to cook? Everything tastes the same! Everything tastes like chicken." the quiet one on the right complained.

"Except the chicken." The annoying one pointed out. "Tastes like fish."

"And I'm just saying, a little appreciation would be nice." The leader grumbled, stirring the pot. Then suddenly, one of the ponies snickered and made a sound and I froze, holding onto to Bilbo. The leader stopped, but then continued on. Bilbo started walking past the ponies towards the annoying troll.

"Thank you very much Bert. Lovely stew Bert! How hard is that?" the leader muttered. His name was obviously Bert.

As Bilbo walked past the ponies, they snickered and neighed and Bert reached his hand out, so near Bilbo, searching for something. I gasped, my heart beating fast. The annoying troll suddenly reached out his hand too, and grabbed a cup.

"That's my grog!" Bert growled at the troll.

The annoying troll stopped. "Sorry…Ow!"

Bert had hit him with the spoon and knocked him over. He put the spoon into the pot and brought it towards his lips, tasting the stew.

"Ooh…That is beautifully balanced that is." He moaned. "Wrap your laughter gear around that eh? Good isn't it? That's why I'm the cook!"

Bilbo had reached the annoying troll and was trying to get the knife. He almost had it, but then he didn't. I shook my head at his crazy stupidity, when suddenly the annoying troll got up and scratched his arse. Men…honestly…the trolls continued to complain when the annoying troll reached behind him and in the process, he grabbed Bilbo. I gasped, and then crouched down as the other troll was walking towards the ponies. The annoying troll blew his nose and yelped when he saw Bilbo.

The annoying troll gasped. "Ah! Bert…Bert! Look what's come out of me hooter! It's got arms and legs and everything."

"What is it?" Bert asked.

"I don't know, but I don't like the way it wriggles around." The annoying troll squealed as he threw Bilbo to the ground. Bilbo was covered in dirt, leaves and snot but I didn't care. All I wanted to do was go to him, but I couldn't because that meant I would be exposed too.

The quiet troll pointed a stick at Bilbo. "What are you then? An oversize squirrel?"

"I'm a burglar…A hobbit!" Bilbo shouted.

The annoying troll frowned. "A burglar hobbit?"

"Can we cook him?" the quiet troll asked.

"We can try!" the annoying one said. I gasped, staring at Bilbo, getting ready to rescue him, but Bilbo shook his head and stood back. Bilbo then decided to run around, trying to escape the trolls, but also to distract them so that I could run away. But with the trolls stomping around trying to chase Bilbo, it was difficult. The trolls were complaining about Bilbo size and I tried to walk behind the annoying troll, but again, this was difficult. In the end I just jumped behind a tree and hid, but I could still see everything. I then saw Bilbo grabbed and I screamed silently, as he was hanged upside down by the quiet troll.

"Gotcha! Are there any more of you little fellas hiding where you shouldn't?" the quiet one asked.

Bilbo shook his head. "No…"

"He's lying.. Hold his toes over the fire! Make him squeal!"Bert growled.

"No, I'm not!" Bilbo panicked, looking at me. Then suddenly, I saw Killi run into the scene, slashing his sword against the troll's leg. I stood up, relieved that help had arrived. The troll squealed and fell down.

"Drop him!" Killi yelled, looking at the dwarves. I ran over to him, and stood next to him. The trolls gasped at the sight of a woman but shook their heads.

"You what?" the quiet one growled.

Killi laughed coldly, as he pushed me behind and swung his sword. "I said, drop him!"

The troll growled as he threw Bilbo towards us. I screamed as Bilbo came flying toward us and as he hit us, I groaned as I fell, hitting my head on a rock and then, the world suddenly went black and I could have sworn I heard the sounds of dwarves running in.

When I came to, I was in a sack. Not just any stack, but a potato stack and I was sitting next to Kirra. She too was in a stack. In fact, from what I could see as my vision got clearer, most of us were in a stack and some of the dwarves were tied up on a huge roasting spinning wheel thingy. I must have hit my head harder than I thought.

"Kirra?" I mumbled. Kirra turned her head and sighed in relief.

"Oh thank god! I thought you might have gone into a coma or something. When I found you, you were unconscious and you were bleeding from your head. I've managed to stop the bleeding but I need to fix it properly." She explained. Well, she is a doctor in training after all.

"That's fine…mmfine…" I mumbled, getting drowsy again. Kirra began to try and keep me awake, but I couldn't and my world went black again.
