Hermione leaned against the diner counter staring blankly out the window at nothing. It was another beautiful day and her mind was off in its own little world. She had few customers come in already; they were focused on spending the day out about shopping and enjoying the warm sun. She had cleaned up the bits that her lunch customers had and had a roll of parchment in front of her. She gave a small shake of her head to clear her thoughts and get back into focus mode.

Hermione dipped her quill into her bottle of ink and began to scrawl in her neat hand writing. She had wanted to make sure all was okay with Draco. She was wondering how they were going to send Draco back out there when he was not at one hundred percent. They had to be worried or taking heavy hits for him to go back so soon.

Her mind was starting to drift again and with the tinkle of the bell it brought her back to the shop. Her eyes focused as she brought the smile to her face that she gave all customers. However, the smile turned a bit warmer. "What are you doing here? Don't you have work?" She asked the red head that just walked in.

Ginny smirked and walked up to the counter. "Well of course I do. But you know I gotta fill my schedule with something to do. And I figured why not lunch?" Hermione stood up right and snatched the parchment away from the counter as Ginny made her way closer. "Who are you writing to?" Ginny added with a knowing grin.

Hermione gave her a smile of her own. "Wouldn't you like to know?" Hermione stowed the note away under the counter and looked up as Ginny sat up on the counter. "And how is Draco?" Ginny asked with a large smile. Hermione shook her head. "Well he seems okay. He still has pain in his leg and they aren't sure what happened or what was used. But he seems to be keeping a positive side of things."

Ginny seemed to be in thought for a moment. "What?" Hermione asked with a frown appearing on her face. Ginny gave a small shake of her head and waved her hand as Hermione pulled a pie from the display and set it down on the counter. Hermione pulled a couple plates out and Ginny took her plate and held it out for a slice of pie.

Hermione handed off a fork and they had just taken a bit of pie when the tinkle of the bell brought both sets of eyes to the door. Of course Ginny kept her seat on the counter and as Hermione was about to give her a push off she felt her hand freeze and heard her fork hit the counter. Her breath caught in her chest and everything seemed to hold still.

She started around the counter and picked up speed as she rounded the corner. She met his body at full speed, her arms wrapping around him and holding onto him tight. She heard him give a grunt and felt his arms wrap around her in a large hug. Hermione looked up at him and in seconds had her lips pressed against his. Hermione felt his arms tighten around her more.

"Well the pie was good going down, but it suddenly wants to come back up." Ginny said setting her plate down. Hermione broke the kiss with a laugh and looked back over at Ginny. "Quiet." Draco gave Hermione a squeeze. "How'd you get here?" Hermione asked as she looked up at him. Draco took her hand and walked with her to one of the tables. She watched him limp and found herself glancing over at Ginny. Draco took a seat and rubbed his leg. "Well, I got to get away for a bit. They had let me leave the ward and after about a day something went wrong. Or I thought something went wrong."

Hermione frowned and watched him closely. Ginny was sitting quietly on the counter listening to him. Draco glanced towards the window. "I was in a lot of pain. My leg was going absolutely crazy. So I had to go back. They thought it might be in my head, panic attacks and bringing up more pain than there should. Of course I don't think I convinced them very much that it wasn't just in my head. But they started to give me a couple potions and the pain went back to where they had it when I left the ward."

"I take it they never figured out what was wrong?" Hermione asked. Draco shook his head. "No, they've told me they've no idea what it was." Hermione looked over at Ginny and watched as she seemed to try to figure out what had happened. "Either way I am back home to see the healers at St. Mungo's." Hermione felt Draco take her hand in his. "So I am going to be here for a little bit. If they can't figure it out they'll fill me in on what is supposed to happen."

"When do you go?" Hermione asked softly. Draco smiled. "I go in tomorrow. I figured I'd just stop in and see the face that I've been dreaming about since I've been gone." He added as he took in all of her features. Hermione found herself beaming and took ahold of his hand. "Of course I have to go see my parents soon." He added in an afterthought.

Hermione gave his hand a squeeze. She didn't want to see him leave her. "How about you go and see your parents while I finish my work. Then we can meet later?" Draco smiled. "Well if your shift isn't over for another week that could work out well, I don't know how quick my mother will let go of me." Hermione smiled at him and watched him stand up.

Hermione stood up and felt Draco pull her close. "When you finish up, come over." He said softly. Hermione stiffened and looked up at Draco a look of shock and horror on her face. "Your house?" She asked. Draco nodded. "Yeah, I know my parents aren't going to want me to leave and I figured what better way. I get to see you all."

Hermione finally gave a slow nod. "Okay." She felt herself forcing a smile on her lips. "Yeah, I'll be over around eight?" She asked still unsure of herself and what she was doing. She felt him lean in to her and press his lips lightly to hers. "I'll see you then." Hermione watched him turn and start to walk away.

Hermione looked over at Ginny and she heard watched as Ginny waited for the door to close before she burst out laughing. Hermione was suddenly feeling very sick. Hermione shook her head. "What the hell am I going to do?" Ginny shrugged as she picked up Hermione's pie and started to eat. "I have no idea, and obviously something happened there but I think more with his brains than with his leg. Just imagine how his parents are going to react!"

Ginny seemed to go into her own mind. "Holy hell I wish I could be there in a corner and just watch this all happen. Watch him sit there and say hey, you remember that mudblood Granger? Well I snogged her senseless while she was at work and she's coming over tonight. And then to watch the whole time you are there!" Ginny started to laugh and faltered a bit as she saw Hermione seemed to turn a shade of green.

"But it'll be okay. I promise!" Ginny started quickly. "I mean they are sure to treat you with respect and like you." Hermione shook her head a bit and rubbed her arm. "I don't think I see it happening that way." She added taking a seat in her chair again. What was she going to do? What in the hell was supposed to happen. Her eyes went back out the window.

Hermione continued through her shift with Ginny staying longer trying to comfort her and tell her to look towards the brighter way of things. Of course she knew that things could not go horribly wrong. Ginny finally left with very little left to comfort her with. "I'll check in with you later, I have to go or I'll be late for practice." She gave her a wave and started to get ready mentally for meeting the Malfoys.
