AUTHOR'S NOTES: Do we need excuses this time? They're pretty much the same as always, so I'm going to skip them! So, I had a lot of fun writing this chapter. I'm not sure why, but I did. The twins are just so twisted, and you'll see, they only get worse from here. Aren't you just bubbling with excitement now? Let me put it out there, the twins' views of Near and L (You'll see) do not in anyway reflect my own. I just wanted to make them twisted.
WARNINGS: There's some foul language in this chapter, and some violence.
DISCLAIMER: I have a shirt just like Near's on right now, an L shirt in the dryer, and some art galleries full of Death Note fanart. Otherwise, I don't own Death Note. I wish I could own something as epically awesome as Death Note.

Matt walked down the street, pushing past the occasional person. His eyes shined with anger, and his hands were still clutched into fists. His rage had doubled since he left the orphanage. With each step, he felt himself becoming angrier. It had angered him even more that they had left. It was bad enough to near murder somebody, but to have the audacity to leave and not take responsibility for what you did? It infuriated him.

He looked around the street that Linda had told him they would be at. His mind wandered, and he found himself thinking about how she had gotten them to tell her where they were going. She told him that she had walked by, going to draw one of the other orphans, and accidentally overheard their plan. Of course, as nosy as Mello always said she was, it made sense to Matt. The girl certainly had no concept of minding her own business.

She had heard them talking about about an apartment complex on the street, and that they were going to be moving far away soon. However, she had never heard the exact day of when they were moving. Matt bit down on his tongue, praying to every god he think of they were still there. He knocked on the apartment door. No answer. He knocked again, this time more forceful. The door creaked open, revealing another empty apartment.

Matt's fists clutched tighter together, his knuckles turning white as he did so. The gamer went inside the apartment anyway. He gazed around, taking in his surroundings. He let out a sigh when he realized that they still had belongings in here. At least, that meant that they hadn't left yet.

His eyes fell upon something in the corner of the room. The distinct shape of a drill could be seen under a bloodied towel. The pair had taken their weapons with them. Matt assumed it was so they wouldn't be caught. It was certainly harder to trace a suspect if they took the murder weapon with him. Still, the sight of the bloodied towel made his own blood boil. It was one thing to take it with you, but it was another to have the very weapon out in the open like that. It was insulting, it was arrogant, it was a direct smack in the face because it clearly stated 'you didn't stop me.'

"Are you looking for us?" a pair of voices called out, menacingly and in perfect unison.

In that moment, Matt felt his heart stop. He turned slowly and saw the twins' forms standing in the doorway.

"Why look, Ivory, it's that little sheep's boyfriend," the boy stated, putting a childish tone on the word 'boyfriend.'

"Why so it is, Isak," replied the girl as she shook her head back and forth, "Why. So. It. Is."

The pair folded their arms across their chest and walked towards Matt, who remained standing in one spot, his eyes fixated on the pair. They walked in complete unison, their forms slinking near him almost cat-like.

Ivory brought her hand up and ran a thin pale finger under the gamer's twin. She brought her face close to his, a sinister smile creeping slowly across her sickly looking face. "You know, you're wasting your time with self-centered, little prats like Near. The bastard thinks he's so great just because he's top of the rankings. Big fucking deal. He deserved to die."

"Shut up," snapped Matt through gritted teeth. His fists were clutched so tightly that his knuckles were completely white, and his nails were beginning to dig into the skin of his palm.

"He doesn't stand a chance against Kira. Certainly, Kira will kill him too, just like he did with that pathetic L. Too busy stuffing his face to do anything, L was," Isak added, picking up the bloody towel from the floor. "It was a rush, watching him scream and watching those big creepy eyes of his dim. It was exhilarating, having his life in our hands."

"Shame he didn't actually die."

"But still, the rush was there. For the first time, I felt alive. The fucking prat deserved every gash. He should have died. I wanted him to die."

"I said, shut up!" Matt lashed out, lunging an arm forward into Isak's jaw.

The two began to fight, fists connecting to various body parts. The sound of a few cracking bones and the sounds of two bodies full of adrenaline and fury wrestling on the floor of the apartment filled the air. Matt screamed out obscenities, calling out every hateful thing he could think of, condemning to them to the hell he wasn't sure he believed in. The entire time Ivory watched with that same creeping smirk pasted across too thin lips.

When the fight finally died down, and Matt had Isak pinned to the ground, ready to deliver the final blow, Ivory spoke once more. "If you hit him again, I guess you'll never know who put us up to this."

Matt's eyes darted up as if searching the girl's face for answers that he wasn't sure existed. "What are you talking about?"

The girl smiled once more, "Sure, we wanted to die. And sure, we enjoyed the attack. But we're not monsters. Just hired hands. Don't you want to know the real monster? The one that paid us?"

Matt pushed himself off Isak and lunged towards Ivory. Adrenaline was still coursing through his veins, and the pain of the fight had yet to set in. He pushed her against the wall, much like he had done Linda previously. "Tell me who it is."

Ivory simply smiled. Matt didn't get the answers he was looking for. All he got was an instant pain to the back of his head and the world fading into darkness and oblivion.

AUTHOR'S NOTES: Well, damn, Matt, you should have seen something like this coming. Lul, that fight scene was so rushed. It was originally longer, but it sounded so stupid. Therefore, I went for the condensed version. But, nonetheless, the drama continues!

Read and Review, please! They inspire me to write faster. I mean look, this update took less than a week!
