"God, I suck at this," said Jonah, as the golf ball he'd just hit rolled nowhere near the hole.
"You suck?" asked TJ.
"Yeah, clearly. Look how far the ball is from the hole," Jonah replied.
"Sorry, I wasn't looking. I'm gonna pay attention, now, because I wanna see how you suck," TJ said, smirking.
"Is he still talking about mini golf?" whispered Andi to Buffy, as they held their putters, waiting for their turns.
Cyrus had a worried look on his face, because he knew TJ was trying to be ambiguously sexual with Jonah in front of the girls, again. The anxious-looking Jonah tried not to look at TJ, then walked away from the putting space, as it was TJ's turn. TJ placed the ball on the fake putting green, then lined up his putter with it. After he tapped the ball, it smoothly rolled toward and into the hole.
"Say what you want about the man, he's got God-given athletic ability," Cyrus commented, which made Andi and Buffy giggle.
After Cyrus took his turn and managed to get the ball nowhere near the hole, Andi and Buffy subsequently took their turns, then it was once again Jonah's turn. Jonah had a perilous aura, because not only did he have to worry about TJ and his sexual innuendo, but he was also just plain terrible at the game. Noticing Jonah's sufferance, TJ decided to help him. He walked behind Jonah and helped him line up the putter with the ball. TJ's front side being pressed against Jonah's backside was quite the amorous scene, but Jonah was appreciative of TJ's genuine assistance and wasn't even considering how it may have appeared to Andi. Having had enough of watching Jonah and TJ "work well together", Andi suddenly dropped her putter and walked off.
"Wait. Where are you going?" asked Buffy, before following Andi.
"What did I do?" TJ surveyed.
The one time TJ managed to upset Andi happened to be when he had pure intentions.
"It's okay, TJ. I know you were just trying to help. I've gotta go find Andi," said Jonah.
He did find her, at the snack bar, being comforted by Buffy.
"Andi, can we talk?" asked Jonah cautiously.
Buffy looked at Andi, nonverbally asking Andi if she was interested in having a conversation with Jonah. Andi nodded at Buffy, then Buffy got up and walked back toward the other boys, but not before giving Jonah a foreboding glare.
"There's something I need to tell you," Jonah commenced.
"Was it all a lie?" asked Andi, before Jonah could continue.
"What? I don't understand," the distressed Jonah responded.
"All the ups and downs, twists and turns, make-ups and break-ups we had in our futile quest to be together, was it all a lie?"
"Of course not, Andi. Every second I spent trying to be with you was real, and you were worth it, all of it."
"Then what's with you and TJ, and don't lie to me."
Jonah was silent for a moment, as he tried to think of a way to explain.
"To make a long story short, after coming to the realization that ultimate was not my calling, I decided to give basketball a try. Naturally, TJ ended up being my trainer, and, well, things kind of took off from there. TJ had a huge crush on me and it felt sort of nice to be so appealing to someone."
"So then you are gay, and I was just, what, an experiment all this time?"
"No, no, I'm not gay. I mean, I don't know what I am. All I know is, everything we've ever had has been real, but I'm now realizing...TJ could be good for me, but I'll never know unless I give him a chance."
"Well, I hope you two are very happy, together," concluded Andi, before storming off and grabbing Buffy by the arm, beckoning her to leave with her.
After Andi and Buffy had left, a melancholy-looking Jonah slowly walked toward a sympathetic-looking TJ and Cyrus. Cyrus patted Jonah on the back, and the three walked away from the putting green together in a pensive silence that somehow served to be as potent as an earnest, veritable conversation.
