Well this is it! The grand finale. Thank you everyone for the patience and your readership, I know this has taken way too long and In hope this last chapter is to your enjoyment. As always Garfield belongs to Jim Davis and Beauty and The Beast and all related characters belong to Disney.

Garfield and Odie were back in Belle's room after dinner. "Well Odie what do we do first once Belle breaks the spell on the Prince?" Garfield asked excitedly which Odie could only shrug his shoulders in reply. "Have the servants serve a 27 course meal; or even better; have a swimming pool of chocolate pudding installed!" Garfield thought aloud while licking his chops at the prospect while Odie barked happily in reply as Belle entered in a very frantic state. "And here's the lady of the hour herself." Garfield mock introduced. Belle however seemed like she was in a panic for some reason as she quickly as possible changed out of her ball gown and into her blue peasant outfit. "Belle I need a moment of your time, I would like to discuss some things we could do now that we are going to be royalty; for instance what do you think of about the chef making the world's largest sausage lasagna." Belle on the other hand threw on a shawl and grabbed Garfield and Odie into her arms and ran quickly out of the room and down the stairs. "Belle, if I didn't know better I'd say we were leaving the castle?"

"Boys, Papa is in trouble we have to get to him." Belle explained as fast as she could.

"So does this mean we're not going to be royalty?" Garfield asked, hoping for a good answer.

Getting on Phillipe and riding out of the Castle they heard The Beasts anguished roar from the castle as they rode out of view.

As they rode through the forest desperately looking for Maurice "Papa!" Belle would cry out occasionally hoping he would hear her. As Belle was beginning to lose hope that they would ever find Maurice Garfield tapped her head and pointed to something on the ground. To Belle's relief it was Maurice, but he was unconscious and in need of care immediately. With as much help as Garfield and Odie could provide Belle managed to get her father onto Phillipe and get him back to their cottage.

Unfortunately their return didn't go unnoticed as LeFou, disguised as a snow man ran off to tell Gaston. "Whew, they're back!"

Later, Maurice slowly awoke. As his vision cleared, Belle came into view much to his joy. "Belle?" He muttered not quite convinced he wasn't dreaming.

"Shh. It's all right Papa, I'm home, and the boys are here too." Belle said referring to Garfield and Odie who sat on the bed with them.

"I thought I'd never see you again." Maurice said as he lovingly hugged his daughter.

"I missed you so much." She replied relishing the moment. Garfield on the other hand wasn't completely happy at being home.

"Riches, luxury beyond my dreams, all gone." Garfield stated glumly as he slumped down on the bed while Odie whimpered with sympathy at his friend. "Leave me alone Odie I'm wallowing in self-pity." He added with sadness

"The Beast, how did you all escape?" Maurice asked.

"We didn't escape Papa, he let us go." Belle replied with happiness.

"That horrible Beast!" Maurice stated in shock, not believing what he was hearing.

"But he's different now Papa, he's changed somehow." She said in reply, surprised herself at the Beasts transformation when a knock came from the door. Going to answer the door, Garfield and Odie were already looking out the window to see who was there.

"Belle we weren't expecting a living corpse with an angry mob were we?" Garfield sarcastically commented.

"May I help you?" Belle politely but nervously asked when she answered the door and saw the crowd.

"I've come to collect your father." The green lanky man stated menacingly.

"My father?" Belle asked rhetorically with dread.

"Don't worry mademoiselle, we'll take good care of him." He insincerely replied with an evil sneer as he revealed the asylum carriage.

Having her worst fear confirmed she tried in vain to defend her father. "My father is not crazy!"

"You know in figurative sense." Garfield added to cover his own anxiety at the situation

"He was raving like a lunatic, we all heard him didn't we?" Lefou shouted which got the crowd shouting in agreement.

"No; I won't let you take him!" Belle pleaded but to no avail.

"Belle?" Maurice inquired fearfully from the doorway.

"Maurice stay inside." Garfield commanded trying but failing to push back inside the cottage.

"Maurice, tell us again old man; how big was the Beast?" Lefou coyly enticed the old man.

"Maurice ignore him, he's just trying to make you look crazy." Garfield urged without success.

"He, he was enormous, he was like eight no more like ten feet!" Maurice exclaimed to the frustration of Garfield who smacked his face in exasperation.

"Well, you don't get much crazier than that!" Declared with uproarious laughter along with the rest of the townsfolk.

"It's true I tell you!" Maurice desperately implored the crowd; but they would not listen.

"Get him out of here!" Someone from the crowd shouted; instantly two guards began hauling Maurice away too the carriage.

"No!" Belle cried as Gaston approached her.

"Poor Belle; such a shame about your Father." Gaston smarmily said to Belle as slinked his arm around her.

"I smell a rat." Garfield stated after sniffing the air when Gaston came out of the shadows. Odie growled in response.

"You know he's not crazy, Don't you Gaston?" Belle asked desperately to the evil hunter.

"I could clear up this little misunderstanding with your father if…" Gaston smarmily started as he allowed his voice to trail off.

"If what?" Belle asked frantically.

"If you agree to marry me." Gaston replied with an evil sneer.

"What?!" She answered incredulously.

"You creep; taking advantage of Belle's overly kind nature!" Garfield exclaimed in offense which Odie moaned in affirmation. "That's my job!" Garfield added sincerely to which Odie gave a bewildered look in response.

"Just one little word, Belle that's all it takes." He went reassuringly.

"Never!" Belle declared emphatically.

"Have it your way." Gaston replied dismissively.

"Belle!" Maurice cried as he was carried away by two soldiers as Belle ran back into the cottage. Garfield and Odie tried desperately to pull him away from the guards without much success.

"My father is not crazy and I can prove it!" Belle exclaimed from the porch with the magic mirror. "Show me the Beast." She commanded breathlessly to the mirror and immediately the mirror flashed to life revealing the Beast to the shock of everyone present especially Gaston.

"Is he dangerous?" Someone asked with fright.

"Oh, no he'd never hurt anyone; please I know he looks vicious, but he's actually very kind." Belle explained patiently. "He's my friend." Belle added longingly which was not lost on Gaston.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you have feelings for this monster." Gaston sneered as he turned Belle to face him.

"He's no monster Gaston, you are!" Belle declared angrily which infuriated Gaston who at the moment, lost whatever grip on sanity he had left.

"She's as crazy as the old man!" He shouted in fury as he relieved Belle of the mirror. "The Beast will make off with your children; he will come after them in the night; we're not safe till his head is mounted on my wall, I say let's kill the Beast!" He roared to the crowd who shouted in approval.

"Uh oh, I feel a villain's song coming on." Garfield said with worry.

"We're not safe until he's dead!" One man chimed in. "He'll come stalking us in the night!" Another added in song. "Set to sacrifice our children to his monstrous appetite!" A woman sang in agreement. "He'll wreak havoc on our village if we let him wander free!" A man sang in declaration firmly.

"The easily led crowd everyone." Garfield said sardonically to the readers as he thumbed the crowd.

Gaston walked through the crowd confidently taking a torch from the villagers to get the crowds attention. "So it's time to take some action, boys it's time to follow me!" Gaston bellowed as he threw the torch on a haystack to set it aflame.

"Through the mist, through the woods, through the darkness and shadows, it's a nightmare but it's one exciting ride, say a prayer and we're there at the draw bridge of a castle and there's something truly terrible inside." Gaston sang about the crowd with the mirror when he came upon LeFou who tried to scoot away from his singing master. Gaston scooped up his sidekick to show him the image of the Beast. "It's a Beast, he's got fangs, razor sharp ones, massive paws, killer claws for the feast!" He sang as he left his loyal stooge on the steps of the cottage as he went back to the crowd. "Hear him roar, see him roam, but we're not coming home till he's dead, good and dead, kill the Beast!"

Belle had heard enough. "No I won't let you do this!" She cried as she ran out to Gaston who caught her by the wrist.

"If you're not with us than you are against us!" Gaston stated firmly as he dragged her to the cellar. "Bring the old man!" He commanded as the crowd obeyed.

"Get your hands off of me!" Maurice yelled as he thrown in the cellar with Gaston dragging Belle by her wrist throwing her in the cellar after him.

"Let us out!" Belle cried out in desperation. In the meantime Garfield and Odie ducked back into the cottage to hide.

"Light your torch, mount your horse, and screw your courage to the sticking place, we're counting on Gaston to lead the way! Through a wood, through a mist where within a haunted castle something's lurking that you don't see every day! It's a beast! One as tall as a mountain. We won't rest till he's good and deceased! Sally forth and tally ho! Grab your sword and grab bow, praise the lord and here we go!" The crowd enthusiastically sang as Garfield and Odie emerged to watch them go back through the town. "We'll laid siege to the castle and Bring back his head!"

Making their way to the cellar to try to get Maurice and Belle out, Garfield and Odie overheard Belle talking to her father. "We have to warn The Beast; this is all my fault, oh Papa what are we going to do?"

"Now, Now we'll think of something." Maurice said trying his best to comfort his distraught daughter as Garfield and Odie looked on.

Garfield crossed his arms and rubbed his chin in contemplation "Hmm."

"Use your brain." Arlene spoke in her ghostly voice from nowhere.

"Seriously what's with the Obi-Wan Kenobi voice again?"

"The movie was awesome!" Nermal invisibly interjected. "It seemed appropriate to the author to throw in a reference." He added.

"Okay now that we're done referencing the insanely popular movie let's get back to this story shall we?" Garfield said irritably to the readers. Looking around for anyway to get Belle and Maurice out until he saw it. Maurice's wood cutting machine. "Ah ha!" He cried in epiphany. He turned to his puppy pal. "Odie dare I say it, we're going to need Maurice's invention; I know I can't believe I said it!" Garfield added in disbelief. Odie happily barked in agreement as they both ran to the woodcutter.

Meanwhile the villagers were already chopping down a tree to use as a battery ram at the castle doors. "We don't like what we don't understand in fact it scares us and this monster certainly mysterious at least, bring your guns, bring your knives, saves your wives, save your children, we'll save our village and our lives, and we'll kill the Beast!"

"Take whatever booty you can find, but remember the Beast is mine!" Commanded Gaston as the villagers began the strike doors of the castle with their makeshift battery ram.

"Kill the Beast, kill the Beast!" They sang in unison until the castle doors gave way.

Meanwhile Garfield and Odie were heating up the furnace that powered the cutter with hot coals. Satisfied it was hot enough to move the machine. "Hold on tight boy, here we go!" Garfield ordered Odie as they both jumped into the seat with Garfield pulling a whistle and releasing the brake as the cutter roared down the path towards the basement with the entrapped Belle and Maurice.

"What the devil?" Maurice muttered wondering if he was seeing what he was seeing and quickly registering that he was in fact witnessing Garfield and Odie were coming down on them in his invention. "Belle look out!" He bellowed as grabbed and pulled her out of harm's way as the wood cutter crashed through the basement door with the cat and dog screaming with fear.

Emerging from the dust caused by the crash Belle and Maurice began frantically searching for their pets. "Garfield, Odie, where are you?" Belle called out to her friends in a panic.

"Uh hum." She heard from behind her head. Turning around there was an irritated Garfield, tangled in wires upside down with a senseless Odie with stars whirling around his head.

"Oh there you are." Belle said with a hint of relief as she pulled them loose to give them a quick embrace. "C'mon boys we have to get back to the castle."

"Must we?" Garfield asked dejectedly in reply as Belle and Maurice got out of the basement with their pets in tow. Quickly mounting Phillipe the group made their way back to the castle. After almost an hour of galloping through the woods to the castle, they come upon a most peculiar sight.

The townspeople literally being beaten back by the household objects. "Haunted castle; possessed objects, demons!" The villagers screamed as they passed group.

"Okay, I think I've seen everything." Garfield said to the readers. Just then Odie tapped Belles head, urging her to look up. Up at the tower Gaston was approaching a fallen Beast with a piece stone masonry to beat him with it.

Realizing what Gaston was about to do Belle screamed up at him in desperation. "No, Gaston don't!"

"Belle?" The Beast looked down at the bridge initially not believing it was in fact her. Upon realizing that Belle had in fact returned to the castle gave the Beast renewed strength to fight back as Gaston was about to strike. Grabbing the stone club the Beast threw Gaston from one side of the roof to the next and went out of sight of Belle and her family.

"Let's go Phillipe!" She commanded the Clydesdale as the horse charged the front door smashing through it. Getting off the horse and running straight for the main stairway Belle and her pets began their trek up to the roof of the castle, much to the dismay of Garfield who was already exhausted.

"Why couldn't we set this story in a time when elevators were invented?" Garfield thought to the readers through panting breaths.

Continuing their duel The Beast and Gaston fell from one of the Castle's turrets to another. Gaston, regaining his footing senselessly swung his blunt tool at something he thought was The Beast but was actually a gargoyle. Growling in frustration he glanced around the immediate surroundings for The Beast and called out. "Come out and fight!" Walking slowly stalked down the rows of Gargoyles checking the shadows for The Beast. "Are you in love with her Beast; you think she could love you when she could have someone like me?" He called out to the shadows trying to challenge.

The Beast growled when Gaston suggested that Belle and he should be together. Emerging from his hiding spot when the deranged hunter passed him, The Beast was prepared to pounce on him from behind when Gaston became aware of something behind him. Swinging wildly, Gaston missed thanks to the Beast's more animalistic agility. Gaston charged the Beast again but like before Beast managed to dodge all his swings however he did manage to back The Beast into a corner. "It's over Beast, Belle is mine!" Gaston bellowed.

Hearing Gaston refer to Belle as practically a piece of property made The Beast lose all sense of composure and lunged at him with his teeth gnashing which caught Gaston off guard, forcing him to drop his stone club and go off-balance where The Beast took the opportunity to seize Gaston by the throat and hang over the ledge of the castle.

"No, let me go, please don't hurt me, I'll do anything, anything!" Gaston cowardly begged, a far cry from what he was a moment ago.

Hearing Gaston beg for mercy reminded The Beast of himself when he was confronted by The Enchantress all those years ago. The Beast realizing he would be a hypocrite to not show forgiveness to Gaston when he himself begged for it years earlier pulled him back onto the roof. However he was giving the blubbering hunter a crystal clear message. "Get out." He growled threateningly to Gaston's face.

"Beast!" A wonderfully familiar voice came from the balcony, forcing the Beast to look up.

"Belle!" The Beast sighed in relief at the sight of his beloved holding her arm out to him with her loyal cat and dog by her side. Overcome with happiness he climbed the tower to reach her. Reaching out to each other, his paw far larger than her delicate hands. "You came back." He said with happiness as he took her visage in his massive paw. For a moment it seemed everything would end happily as Garfield and Odie looked on smiling, until. "Arghh!" The Beast howled in pain. Looking over the ledge Garfield and Odie saw to their horror Gaston was pulling a large hunting knife out of The Beasts chest cavity. Going for another jab Gaston prepared to finish The Beast off when The Beast wildly swung his arm that inadvertently knocked the wicked hunter off-balance sending him off the roof to his death with a blood curtailing scream.

"Aaargh!"

"Well he won't be back for any sequel." Garfield muttered to Odie as he and the puppy helped Belle get the mortally wounded Beast back over the railing and onto the roof. Cogsworth led the household objects to the balcony where their hearts collectively sank as they watched Belle and her animal companions lay their master on the ground. Belle stroked his face with worry as Beast struggled to breath.

Looking up at Belle, The Beast finally managed to speak. "You came back?" he rasped through gasping breaths.

"Of course I came back; I couldn't let them…." She started to respond but realizing the severity of his injuries caused her voice to trail off as she put her arms around him. "This is all my fault, if I only gotten here sooner." She lamented as The Beast continued to struggle for breath.

"Maybe..maybe it's better this way." He gasped, knowing the end was coming.

"Don't talk like that; we're together now, everything'll be fine you'll see." Belle gently admonished, in denial at the inevitable loss of her friend.

"At least I got to see you one last time." He muttered to Belle as he stroked her face who had tears forming in her eyes. Turning his eyes to Garfield, The Beast struggled once more to speak but manage to get one last request out. "Garfield… I know… You and me… We've had our differences, but… I need you to do me a favor… Please… Take care of Belle for me?" He barely managed to blurt out to the tabby cat who gave a small smile with a thumbs up.

"You got it big guy." Garfield replied with a sad smile. The Beast contented that all was in order one final breath as his eyes rolled back into his and hid head rolled to the side and died.

Belle, who was still holding hope for a miracle, gasped in shock. "No, no, please, please don't leave me!" She cried out in anguish at the loss of her dear companion. Burying her face in his chest, sobbing she had a confession to make. "I love you." She muttered just as the last rose petal fell from the enchanted rose given to The Beast by the enchantress many years ago. Knowing now that the time had passed for the spell to break, lowered their heads in sorrow as tears rolled down their faces. Garfield and Odie came to Belle's side to comfort her with Garfield stroking her head as she sobbed on the fallen Beast.

Suddenly a streak of light shot down from the sky and impacted right next to them which snapped the whole group out of their sorrowful reprieve. Then another, and another. Soon there was a shower of light streaks enveloping the group. As the group looked on in wonder the Beasts body was mystically lifted in the air by an unseen force which startled everyone including Belle and her pets who clung to her for safety. As the Beast floated in the air he was suddenly consumed in a burst of light. When the light faded they saw a young man in a crumpled in heap where The Beast was. Slowly the man got to his feet. As he did he looked at his hands in seeming amazement as he turned around allowing Belle and the others a good look at him.

"No, it couldn't be!" Belle thought to herself in disbelief.

"Belle, it's me!" The young man said to her in seeming disbelief at his own words as he approached the young maiden.

Belle cautiously but optimistically approached him looking him over. Gazing into his eyes, she saw the same gleam that The Beast had in his eyes. "It is you!" She exclaimed, absolutely glowing at the realization as she reached up with her hands to caress his visage affectionately.

Returning the gesture, The Prince took Belle's face into his and both leaned into each other for a loving first kiss as the streaks of magic shot up to the sky and burst into an awesome magical fireworks display that returned the castle from its dark gothic appearance to its former angelic appearance as well as one by one the enchanted object were each returned to their human form. "Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts; look at us!" The Prince happily exclaimed as he saw his beloved servants as human for the first time in years and whom embraced him joyfully in return.

"Momma, momma!" Chip called from behind riding Odie who was barking in celebration as Chip magically transformed back into a boy.

Mrs. Potts lifted her son off a sprawled Odie with happy tears. "Oh my goodness!"

"This is a miracle!" Lumiere exclaimed as he wrapped his arms around Cogsworth who for once didn't mind.

Odie turned his attentions to Garfield who seemed surprisingly happy with how things turned out. "Well Odie, all's well that ends well, a true happy ending, nothing bad can happen now." Garfield said to his pal confidently. Then right on cue a large pile of snow fell right on the orange tabby cat covering him up to his nose. "Yeah I guess should have seen that coming." Garfield muttered with a sigh dejectedly to the readers.

The next day in the ballroom, the group was celebrating their resurrection as well as the coming together of Belle and The Prince now known by his real name Adam. The crowd watched with happiness as the new couple enjoyed a lovely waltz while Garfield and Odie looked on in sincere approval with both exchanging thumbs up. Belle, catching her pet's eyes, broke from her waltz and approached the cat and dog smiling affectionately down to them as she bent down to embrace them. "Thank you so much for being there for me, I love you guys so much." She said gratefully to her animal friends.

Garfield who usually detested affection, let it slide and leaned in and wrapped his arms around Belle with a smile. When Belle let them both down, Garfield took a moment to address the room. "If I may have a sentimental moment here, I got something to say; you can't judge a person by what's on the outside, it's what's on the inside that counts, there I said it, now get the heck outta here." Garfield said with sincerity. At that moment Garfield smelled an enticing aroma from the room and curiously turned around to the see the chef setting the table with a massive feast with the most delicious food imaginable. Seeing this made the tabby cat's mouth water. Licking his chops, Garfield turned to Belle and Adam. "Look don't you worry about me, I'll be fine; you two get out of here and have fun." He said as he wrapped a napkin around his neck and produced a fork and knife with a sly smile. "I know I will." He said as he bolted for the table leaving Belle to shake her head and giggle at Garfield's antics as she turned back to Adam to resume their dance.

"Certain as the sun, rising in the east, tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, Beauty and the Beast!"

As the couple waltzed on the dance floor Garfield lunged into the air to dive head first into the dinner table. "Banzaii!" He cried as he flew towards the table.

"NOOO!" The Chef shouted in despair as Garfield dove into the feast as Belle and Adam to dance with the camera panning out to reveal Garfield closing the book with a smile and bow as the crowd of children cheered.

"Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, Beauty and the Beast!"

"And they all lived happily ever after, the end." Garfield ended the tale with another bow.
