Dis and Thorin were arguing. Nothing new Fili sighed. He hoped that Kili would be there, he was almost only one who was able to calm their mother with his puppy eyes.
"New Year is coming and it would be perfect opportunity to your coronation. I can't believe that you haven't done it already." Dis tried again night after night. She had been bit mortified that he hadn't already been crowned officially. Like that mattered Fili though. There was no soul who would challenge his uncle for the right to Erebor's throne and everyone knew what was the reason behind that but Dis was more practical than her brother.
"You know…"
"The hobbits are here now. What ever happens now, you have to be crowned before long. You can't wait him forever."
"Yes I can." Thorin muttered and Fili just knew that his uncle glanced at him under the frown and that didn't go unnoticed from Dis.
"No, Fili is far too young."
"Dain was younger when he got his own crown." Thorin argued.
"He isn't Fili." Dis pointed out.
"Thanks mum." Fili murmured with resignation. Just couple of days ago she had said that he was grown adult.
"You know what I mean my dear boy." Dis smiled sweetly and Fili looked away again, rolling his eyes.
"Yes mum."
"Don't you roll at me son."
"Yes, mum."
"Fili had fulfilled his duty with grace of Durin line." Thorin couldn't but say looking his nephew and smiling, though that smile, like always, was bit sad. With deep sigh that never before Dis sit down and watched his brother. "You're not kidding. You truly are serious. If Bilbo does not be able to recover, you do not receive the crown."
Thorin looked at his sister and kneeled front of her.
"I have told you, what I did. I need his forgiveness before I can be able to officially be crowned. He… he's everything. He's my Heart. And I hurt him. And he was ready still fight for me… And… I went and hurt him again. I… I can't forgive myself if doesn't… If… My place is with him. Please, understand this, please sister of mine." Thorin hid his face on Dis' dress and Dis stroke his hair with fondness. She still was after all Thorin's older sibling. Fili again missed his brother and stood up. It was time to leave and find Kili. With grace of practised hunter he sneaked himself on the door, but when he opened it he stared the grey hem of cloak.
"Gandalf!"
"Well, good timing Fili. I wanted to see you too." The Grey Wizard greeted him and looked inside the room.
"Thorin."
"Where have you been Wizard?" Thorin walked to greet the Maiar.
"There where I have been needed. And now I'm here. Come, I think you should know some things."
Gandalf glanced at his side where the young hobbit Drogo was. He looked really nervous. "Just, Thorin, Your Majesty, please. I don't think… Maybe later others can too but…"
Gandalf nodded smiling calming at him, "And maybe Fili, he's a crown prince and Aragorn is surely there with Legolas and Thranduil."
Drogo hesitated but nodded then his agreement. "Yes, alright or cousin will skin me."
"You're not to blame my friend, me and Thranduil have knew hobbits more longer than others and known the heritage of the Took clan. Isengar can argue with me of my choice of this matter, but I think that now that we are entering at the new age, some people have to know. And with two kings and three heirs, or three kings and two heirs… Oh, but you haven't crowned yet either Thorin Oakenshield. Then it actually makes one king and four heirs of three different realms. Follow me."
"I said that you should have been crowned already." Fili hear his mother to say. Thorin refused to look at her.
"What it is?" He asked from Gandalf who looked at him with mild surprise. "You actually didn't felt it? Are you dwarf or not?"
"Gandalf…"
"Just listen the stone, you should hear all these veins around us whisper, calling you."
Thorin sulked but then opened his mind and it just flowed over him and he had to stop.
"What… By Mahal… What was that?" He gasped to breath and Fili stepped to help him. "I'm alright, but… I haven't felt that after Arkenstone was found."
Fili frowned, "What are you talking Uncle?"
Thorin patted his shoulder. "My ability to hear the stone, I haven't actually used it in long long time."
"Stone Calling? You have Stone Calling? Uncle!" Fili was shocked.
"We have to hurry, you can explain it later to him Thorin." Gandalf rushed forward and they headed toward small balcony near the royal quarter. They could see that Thranduil with his son and the man were already there.
They all looked up.
"The Magic of Air and the Moon and the Earth and the Fire. Argheits like they call it. Magic of Night." Gandalf whispered, his voice respectful. "I didn't knew that he was this powerful, to summon their spirits to help."
"So, who wants to tell this tale?" Thranduil asked still looking up the moon.
"What story?" Fili didn't want to raise his voice either.
"The story of Adrans, the ancestors of the hobbits. Those who were once elves but turned their minds to seek out other truths, other worlds beyond us, and when they found it, they left." Thranduil explained and finally his eyes focused to the hobbit among them.
Drogo looked resigned.
"I tell the tale, because I can't be sure how much of truth you actually know, and if the story needs to be told, it needs to be done right."
Then also he turned to face slowly reddening moon.
