Please remember, I do not own either the characters/plots/words of either Suzanne Collins who wrote the Hunger Games Series. All rights belong to her. She owns and deserves all the credit for those. I am merely inspired by her amazing works.
Ch. 9
"You're right; I do see what I want to see. But I also see the real you. I see the good and the bad now. But in the end it is you I see. No one else I want to see. But the real question is how can I make you see….? How can I make you believe what I see…" Peeta muttered. But he was out of words. The time for words had passed. If he couldn't make her see it then he would make her feel. He would break her out of this funk the way she once did for him in that tunnel so long ago.
"Pe…" but before she could disagree Peeta silenced her with a kiss. Eventually they separated needing air. But their bodies refused to obey. It was like an electricity of magnetic force was pulling them closer together. Peeta caressing her face and neck with kisses. "Comeback to me Katniss, stay with me" he whispered just below her earlobe. "I need you", as his eyes began to moisten.
"I need you, too" with her voice so soft and low as if it was coming straight from her heart. Her heart knew this to be true. Wasn't this need always there whether outside the bakery, in a chilly cave or a sultry beach? If only she could get her mind to agree. She had spent years building up protective walls that he just seemed to penetrate… Ever since her father died, she would not be hurt again. She would not let someone close enough to hurt her. But, her defenses were crumbling. She had finally been pushed to the brink and she found it wasn't the dark empty death she once envisioned. She found an iridescent shimmer of hope in him. He had found a way to burrow deep inside of her so that even if she tried to wash away this irritant she couldn't. His love had truly become her pearl. It was time for her heart to convince her mind.
