Chapter 9

Torn in two

Kagome's POV

All around me were the waves, of a peaceful but strong sea, with the sand beneath my feet. I took in a deep breath, feeling the fresh breeze in my whole being. I lifted up by head and the let

the breeze swirl all around me. It felt nice, to be able to relax. Have no worries, no problems, no distractions. I slowly made my way into the water, letting the waves clash around

me. The water was crystal clear, letting me to see its depth, the coral sand bottom. As I ventured in deeper the water became more forceful, with each wave it turned darker. Until I

was unable to seethe bottom, panic started to sink in. I tried to make it back to shore but found I was not getting any closer. The land started to get further away from me. I spun

around trying to find a wayto get to safety. The water soon turned a red color, the color blood would normally be. I started to feel dizzy, nausea creeping up on me. A voice spoke in

my mind. "The blood of your son willsoon rain upon you if you do not sacrifice yourself to me." The voice was Kikyo, I knew from the coldness within it. I started screaming, imaging

every horrible thought possible that could bedone to my baby boy.

I woke up screaming, those picture still alert in my mind. I could feel that someone was shaking me. I snapped out of my screaming haze and look into the face of Inuyasha.

"Kagome, are you okay?" He asked he had upon him a look of worry. I just nodded my head; those graphic images kept playing in my mind. I tried to shake them away but nothing

made the heart ranking images disappear. I looked up to Inuyasha, the question I dared to ask being asked within my eyes. "I'm so sorry Kagome, it's my fault."

Tears started to pool in his eyes. I shook my head, not wanting to believe what he was saying. Inuyasha pulled me to him and wrapped him arms around me. I did not want to

believe what he was saying, but I knew it was true. Kikyo had stolen Kovin from me. Form us, as form of revenge. This could not be happening, it is my job to protect my babies, and

I failed. Tears came rushing down, I started to scream. They were muffled by Inuyasha's robe. I failed him. I failed Kovin. What kind of mother am I? A pain in heart made me cry

louder.

I started to bang my fists again Inuyasha chest in hopes of something, anything. Inuyasha let me continue for a moment, he then grabbed a hold of my wrists. "Kagome, listen to

me." He tried to look me in the eye. I wouldn't have it though. I had no intention to look at him. I kept shaking my head, tears falling. "Kagome, we will get Kovin back I promise." He

hugged me to him. I clung to him as if he was my life support. The tears started to dry out, I looked up to Inuyasha. "I have to tell you why I decided to come back." I told him.

Inuyasha nodded and released me from the hug and headed outside to find the others.

I slowly got up to my feet, walked over to my other babies. I gazed upon them, feeling so heartbroken that I failed to protect them. Izayoi and Inuyasha were both awake, while

Kohana was sleeping peacefully. I chucked, she was such a sleeper, she could sleep through anything. I picked up Izayoi and held her close to me. I look at them and made a

promise that I intended to keep. "I will get your brother back, no matter what." I went and laid Izayoi on the blanket on the floor and went back to grab Inuyasha. I placed both side

by side and played with them, it kept my mind busy. I feed them, changed them before we started playing again. They both loved to play peek-a-boo. When they laughed it was the

most wonderful sound ever.

The bamboo door parted in came everyone, even Kaede was there. She gave me a hug, welcomed me back. Kaede noticed the two babies on the floor so I introduced them. "These

two are Izayoi and Inuyasha. The one in the crib is Kohana…" I trailed off, trying to keep my tears under control. "They are lovely Kagome; they look so much like each of their

parents. Well asides from Inuyasha, who looks a lot like his father." Kaede said as she look at Inuyasha and I. Inuyasha had a smirk on his face. "Guys I need to tell you why I came

back."

Inuyasha's POV

I failed as a Father; I failed to protect the ones I loved. I kept hoping no wishing that all of this was just a nightmare. That I'll wake up to find Kagome perfect along with our four

babies. I knew better though, that wishing was not going to make this situation any better. I thought back to when Kikyo showed up. I told everyone to stay inside. Miroku and I

went out to handle the problem with Kikyo. I noticed something different about Kikyo. She seems colder, as if her good side was gone. Words did not seem to get through to her, so

a battle started. I was trying to get close to her so I could knock her out, but she kept deflecting everything we threw at her. Miroku just happened to catch her off guard so I went

in. I was closing in her on and was almost there when a yell was heard. Then thing I knew I face planted into the ground.

Kagome had said sit, haven't heard that in a while. As soon as I touched the ground I felt an arrow go over my head and heard it implant into Kikyo's body. She started screaming,

then a hoard of demons came. I looked up to see Kikyo absorbed them into her body. My eyes widened she has become like Naraku. The effect from the sit has yet to fade, so I was

stuck to the ground. Kikyo disappeared from my sight. I could hear her on top of the roof of the hut where Kagome was. As soon as the sit effect wore off I jumped up and turned to

run towards Kagome, and Kikyo. Kikyo had Kagome's hair and was pulling her closer to her. Just then a scream was heard, an evil smile grew on Kikyo's face. Then the roof collapsed.

I yelled out for Kagome, as I saw her body fall from my sight.

I rushed to the hut. I reached it in time to see Kikyo grab Kovin. Then she disappeared. I rushed to Kagome, who was unconscious. So here we were all together in Kaede's hut until

Miroku's and Sango's was repaired. When Kagome woke up she was so heartbroken, I felt all the more worse. I had promised Kagome we were going to get Kovin back and I

intended to keep that promise. Kagome had asked me to gather the others to finally tell us why she came back. "Guy I need to tell you why I came back." Kagome started once

Kaede was doing meeting the pups. Everyone sat around Kagome and listened to her.

Kagome took a deep breath and began speaking. "The night Inuyasha came, I fainted. While I dreamed Midoriko came to me." A gasp came from everyone. "You mean the creator of

the sacred jewel?" Shippo asked. Kagome nodded. "She told me I had a mission to fulfill. She told me that Kikyo's soul has become tainted, that she will cause horrible disaster if she

was not stopped." Kagome stopped for a moment letting everyone let this sink in. "How do we stop her?" Sango asked. Kagome look down to the pups, who were starting to fall

asleep.

"She did not give much detailed, but asides from that I have to be the one to stop her." Again Kagome paused then added. "If she is not stopped, a lot of people will die… including

all of you." Everyone was quite. All that was heard what the wind blowing outside. I was processing all of this. Why was her soul tainted? She was a priestess she had one of the

purest souls alive, well Kagome's was a lot more pure than hers. "Why take Kovin then?" Shippo asked. I answered that question. "To get back at me." Everyone look at me, asides

from Kagome. "What?" Kaede asked. "When Kikyo came that day, she told me I will pay for picking Kagome instead of her. She took Kovin as a way to get back at me. Proving to me

that I can't always protect the ones I love." I looked over to Kagome who was crying.

I went to her and pulled her into my arms. "The question is why sister Kikyo's soul become tainted has?" Kaede said. "Who knows?" Miroku said. It was quite after that, Kagome was

still crying into my robe. Everyone seemed lost in their own thoughts. Shippo finally broke the silence. "What are we going to do?" We all looked up upon hearing his voice. "That's

easy; we will get Kovin back then Kill Kikyo." I told them. They all looked at me with a weird look. "What?" I barked. "Are you sure you can do that Inuyasha?" Sango asked, she

seemed hesitant with the question though. Kagome spoke up, "It is my duty the end her, and only my duty. Midoriko made that clear." We all looked at her. "Then we will help you.

For she has messed with your family, she has messed with our family as well." Sango told Kagome. "Well will do whatever it takes to Get Kovin back." I told Kagome. I've said it

before and I'll say it again, that promise I will not break. Kikyo is going down no matter what.
