"Kort, what the hell are you doing here?" Tony glared suspiciously at him his hand over the wound in his shoulder.

"Damn," Danny whispered as he looked down at the dead body.

"What is it?" Tony asked as he turned away from the CIA agent.

Kort watched them, but still kept an eye on their surroundings just in case there was another attack.

"That's Catherine Rollins; she was Steve's ex and the woman that helped him with his…situation."

"I know all about what you and Commander McGarrett are, exactly the same as Gibbs and DiNozzo." He looked over at Tony. "I really need to talk to you after you've been to the hospital."

"I don't need–."

"Yes, you do DiNozzo."

"I agree with whoever you are. I'll talk to Duke; you go and get checked out." Danny ordered and then walked over to the cop. He made sure not to be 100% truthful. Who would believe him about sentinel and guides anyway?

"I hate to repeat myself, but what the hell are you doing here?"

"I'll explain later when we aren't in a public place." The CIA agent sighed why out of all the people in the world he ended up with these two. DiNozzo knew how to push people's buttons, and boy did he have fun doing that. As soon as he was alone, he used his cell. "A woman called Catherine Rollins is dead; she tried to kill Daniel Williams." With that, he hung up.

"Sacks." He answered his cell and walked away from Fornell.

"Catherine Rollins is dead." A male voice said directly, and then the line went dead.

He sighed, she had been so promising. Her relationship with McGarrett had been key to bringing him across to them; other plans would now need to be put in motion.

Steve looked around his ex's apartment. She had eventually rented a place when it was apparent that he wasn't going to ask her to move in with him. He'd been handed a journal that had been hidden in one of the vents, and with gloved hands, he started to look through it. The more he read, the angrier he became until it became too much and he threw it across the room.

Danny walked over and pulled him into a hug. "What's wrong, I mean more than the obvious?"

"Catherine killed Freddie; he knew there was something off and obviously found some kind of evidence. He tried to protect me, and she murdered him. Why didn't I see this, if I'd known I could've saved him?" He mumbled into his guides shoulder.

"Don't think like that Steve. Just remember that Freddie died because he loved you. You would've done the same for him. Catherine is the one to blame; she played on your emotions. There was nothing you missed. Let's get the hell out of here and leave it to the others to deal with. How about a swim that always helps you?"

Steve gave Danny a small smile and nodded. He did have to get away from this place. His guide would be there to protect him. If he didn't have his partner where would he be now? What would Catherine have done with him? He would always be thankful for that unexpected meeting in his father's garage.

Gibbs frowned as they walked out of the hospital.

"What is it?" Tony asked as he glanced around. He hadn't been seriously hurt, it was just a graze.

"It's Leon Vance, he works at NCIS."

"What the hell is he doing here? Do you think he knows about you or us?"

"I don't know, let's go and find out."

"Agent Gibbs, I hope you're okay Agent DiNozzo?"

"I'm fine thank you, it's–."

"What are you doing here Vance?"

"I, can we go somewhere more private to talk? It's important."

"Okay." Gibbs finally agreed. "My hotel room."

"Thank you." Vance smiled at them gratefully.

As soon as they walked into the room, Gibbs shut the door and stared at Vance. "Well?"

"SecNav has asked me to gather information on Shepard, including any inappropriate behaviour towards you or anyone else." Vance paused and clicked his nails, this was too important for him to screw up.

Tony observed him. "That's not all though, there's something else isn't there?"

Vance glanced over at him surprised, and Gibbs just chuckled.

"DiNozzo is my SFA for a reason. He's a brilliant investigator and can read people very well. So what aren't you telling me?"

"It's my son; he's in a vegetative state. I've been in contact with so many people. I was finally told by an anonymous contact that it could have to do with his senses. I was told by this same person, and no I don't know who it is, that you have the same problem. Is there anything you can do to help me, to help him?"

Gibbs knew what it was like to lose a child but to see them vanish like this was horrific. "There could be someone who might be able to help. Let me give them a quick call."

"Thank you, anything you need me to do just tell me."

Gibbs grabbed his cell and dialled. "Hi, we have someone here whose kid could have problems with their senses. They're currently in a vegetative state. Now, you're kidding? Okay, I'll ask." He turned to Vance. "If I give you the name of a private hospital here in Hawaii, could you get your son transferred? They're experts on this kind of thing, and there will be a room waiting for him."

"Do you think I should do this?" He waited until Gibbs nodded. "Okay, give me the information, and I'll call my wife."

Blair seemed to think this would help all of them. So far there were only adult sentinels.

Blair turned to Jim. "A child sentinel, if we could start finding them at a young age. The things they could learn, how we could help them. They wouldn't need to feel the odd one outs and hide these amazing gifts. If we can help maybe we should start looking for other hospitals and places that house long-term illnesses."

"Let's just help this kid first, and the other adult sentinels before we go planning too far ahead."

"Okay." He bounced on his toes a million ideas running through his head.

Gibbs was finally alone and pulled his lover into his arms. "I could've lost you today."

"You're not going to get rid of me that easy and it wasn't aimed at me, but Danny." Tony pulled him into a kiss before they could take it any further there was a knock at the door.

Gibbs growled as he pulled away and walked over to the door. "You have to be kidding me." He muttered once he looked through the peephole. "What the hell is going on?" Were the first words out of his mouth as soon as he opened the door?

"Can I come in and explain or would you like me to do it where anyone can hear?" Kort smirked.

Gibbs sighed and moved away to let the other man in.

"So, what's going on?" Tony repeated.

"I was born to protect sentinels and their guides." He held up his hand to stop interruptions. "All of our interactions before now, you were just pain in ass NCIS agents. Now, everything is different. This protection thing is a family legacy. My ancestors were protectors of the sentinels, until the very last one. There's also a prophecy that one day 'the sentinels would return and the ones to guide them.' Since then it's been passed down generation to generation. Each one was taught and trained to aid them when the time came. As time passed, things became more organised. There are people in high up positions in different areas government, business and medical to name a few. But some people wish to destroy you; Catherine Rollins was one of them."

"So you joined the CIA?" Tony asked.

"It gave me extra skills and contacts that I could use to help. Now I know about the two of you I'll base myself in Washington. If you ever need me just call."

Tony looked over at Gibbs. "Could this get any weirder?"

"Yes." They both replied.

Fornell watched as Sacks walked away. His gut screamed at him that something was wrong. He needed help, and there was only one person he could think off. He took hold of his cell and called his old friend. "Gibbs, I need you and your group of misfits to look into something for me. What do you mean you can't? Wait, you're in Hawaii? So am I." Why did he feel that this was all connected, but how?

XXXXX

Denning sighed and leaned back in his chair. He'd helped with the Catherine Rollins situation. It had been easy enough to explain away. She'd been jealous and shot at the man who she blamed. This sentinel and guide thing was becoming a lot bigger than he expected. He would do anything to help his brother and the others.

Gibbs walked over, joined Fornell and sat down. "What's going on?"

"Sacks and I are here on a cold case. There was an agent that was killed here, recently there was a murder, and the same weapon was used. We're here to see if there is any link."

"So why did you need my help?"

"It's Sacks; he jumped at the chance to come here. It's a case that won't get him noticed, it's not interesting. Recently he's been getting secret calls, going to meetings. I thought about him seeing someone, but it just feels off."

"I can talk to the governor's task force and ask them to look into it. DiNozzo is an old friend of one of them."

"I'm not sure."

"They can be trusted, Tobias."

"Okay, ask them and thank you."

Sacks knocked and waited for the door to open. "Rachel, Stan it's good to finally meet you in person. I would like to get to know you both a little better, and some things need to be discussed."
