They were currently sitting on a rather large couch, the teal and pink pair sitting next to each other while Luka's parents sat just the opposite of them. As they sat across each other, Miku could feel his father's intense gaze, making her feel awkward and nervous. She'd met Luka's parents before, her mother's name was Louise R. Megurine, she was an European and used to live across the globe before she'd gotten married, while her husband's name was Megurine Ryuki, a pure Japanese man.
When they had first met, Ryuki always shot Miku looks that somehow resembled glares but at the same time didn't. Miku couldn't fathom why she was receiving the end of it at the time and why the man seemed to not really trust her at all, even now.
Well I guess I can't really blame them with what's happening to them right now.. She inwardly shrugged.
If Miku were to describe the man's personality, he was a calm, kind yet scary man. One of those protective daddy types. As for Louise, she was an endearing woman of grace and resembled Luka a lot with her glossy pink hair, while her resemblance with her dad was his deep blue eyes.
And maybe some of his personality too. Miku finished in her thoughts.
"So," Louise started, her slightly accented, but still understandable Japanese resonating in the room. Coughing a bit in her hand, when she noticed her husband's intense look at their new soon-to-be-housemate. "Before we start, would you two like some tea, coffee or soda?"
Blinking at the kind offer that she presented them, she heard Luka talk beside her. "Tea would be nice."
"U-Uhm, coffee please." Miku stuttered, unnerved by the high-class people's stares at her. Since she'd never been this actually close to wealthy people before, so she was rather unused to the elegance they held, making her feel like she stick out like a sore thumb.
Nodding at the young ladies' answers, the older woman softy told their maid who was standing right beside their couch their orders. After the maid had left, Miku stared at her lap.
"Are you sure about this Miku? I mean, you've never really socialized with high-class people."
"I'll somehow try to manage."
"That doesn't sound convincing.."
"Hehe.."
Inwardly scowling at the sudden familiar voice invading her mind, she just fiddled with her fingers as the silence stretched on. She still occasionally felt the man's looks, but chose to ignore it.
"While we're waiting for the drinks to arrive," Louise spoke up once again, giving the two girls a gentle smile. "Let us start this discussion, shall we?"
Miku sat on her seat in expectation.
"My my," Louise suddenly giggled, making Miku feel confused. She looked around and saw Luka was also slightly giggling, all the while looking at the tealette. Though her father wasn't showing any kind of emotions right now, he still held a flicker of amusement in his eyes.
"I-Is there something wrong?" Miku asked, scratching her cheek sheepishly.
Still giggling a bit, Luka answered. "You don't need to be so stiff Miku." She smiled.
"We're not going to eat you." Her mother added, a slender hand over her mouth as she giggled once more.
"H-Huh?" That's when Miku realized that she was sitting up tensely the whole time, burying herself down into the couch in embarrassment with red dusting her cheeks she meekly apologized.
"Oh my, it's very much fine." The older woman smiled at the tealette, making Miku wonder.
So this is how Luka's going to look like when she grows up huh..? She thought. Beautiful.
"Here are your drinks." The brown haired maid earlier came back with a tray on her hands that had four cups over it. Then, she started placing their respective drinks in front of the four, saying their thanks afterwards before the maid left once again.
Sipping their drinks, the older woman placed her tea back down.
"Now, back to the discussion." Louise started, earning all of their attention. "Luka, we have something important to tell you regarding Miku-chan."
Miku-chan? The tealette sweat dropped, though now that she'd thought of it further. The older woman seemed to be enjoying what was currently happening, and Miku had no idea why.
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, starting today she is going to be living with us from now on!" The woman exclaimed rather enthusiastically, surprising both the teal and pink pair, but for different reasons.
However before the tealette could even think, the pinkette spoke up, her voice laced with disbelief.
"W-What? W-Why so suddenly?" When she realized that she was standing, she took a moment to calm herself and sat quietly. Her face flushed with embarrassment.
Miku had noticed the discreet glance that Louise sent her husband who was silent the whole time, then when they nodded to themselves, the sole man in the room explained.
"We have been good friends with Miku's parents before they died," He lied flawlessly, his voice impassive, making Miku inwardly grimace. "And after they passed away, she was left with no home since she had no relatives. So we decided to take her in with us."
Miku saw Luka give her an apologetic look, she just smiled back, not really sure on how to act right now.
"So you mean you've known her for a long time?" Luka asked another question, and Miku could see a distinct sweat beading down Ryuki's face. "How come I've never seen her?"
That doesn't look good.. She sweat dropped.
And why do I feel left out? Halloo? I'm here! She scowled in her mind, a bit unhappy that they're referring to her in third person when she's right here with them.
Now it was Louise's time to intervene and help his husband. "You were always in your room when we hold ballroom parties, dear." She smiled when she felt Ryuki shoot him a thankful look.
"So that's why you never saw each other." She concluded, ending with the tone of finality, wanting to end the topic quickly.
"O-Okay.." Luka hesitantly nodded.
Makes sense... She reluctantly agreed.
She was okay with Miku staying, if not she was ecstatic. But the sudden stay was really bothering her for some reason. She just felt weird about these things suddenly happening, somehow it disconcerted her, and felt that her guts was telling her that something was odd about this exchange. Sighing, she just shook those thoughts away for a while and cleared her head.
Not that I'm complaining anyways, it's just weird.
Nodding at her daughter's reply she spoke up once again, her deep matured accented voice gracing their ears.
"It's settled then." She proposed. "From now own she's going to occupy the room next to you sweetie."
Luka just smiled at her mother. Either way, Miku's going to live with me from now on... She slightly blushed at the thoughts invading her head. She'd never had someone in the house who had the same age as her before, so this was rather new to her.
When Miku noticed the silence, she tensely stood up and did a 90 degree bow at the masters of the household.
"I will be in your care then, thank you so much."
There was a thick silence afterwards, and Miku was still in the same position as before. She felt herself growing increasingly awkward and embarrassed, she wanted the floor to just swallow her whole and hide her from this embarrassment forever. Until she heard another set of giggles from the two pink haired women of the room, and a deep hum of recognition from Luka's father.
"Isn't she a cute one?" Louise giggled with her hand over her mouth, looking quite graceful as she laughed. "And a such a nice girl too."
Her husband just nodded in agreement, but still held the same look. For some reason the tealette felt that the man was still having doubts about her, but felt a bit relieved when she saw him nod at the older woman's remark.
Wait what? Why do I feel like a boy awaiting for his girlfriend's parents approval? She blushed at the thought.
Shaking her head she just smiled at the two adults gratefully and sat back on her seat next to an entertained Luka. Miku flashed Luka a grin, while the pinkette did the same. Looking quite happy despite the earlier thoughts that have been plaguing her mind.
Noticing the exchange between the two, Louise was ecstatic that her daughter was getting along with someone rather well. Then thought of something to get them to bond even more.
"Now Luka, dear. I think you should take Miku on a tour around the house for a bit." Louise said with a knowing smile. "Then show her room afterwards."
"Okay mum," Luka nodded at her mother and gave her a smile. "We shall be going now."
"Let's go?" She asked the tealette beside her, who nodded.
Just as they were about to leave the expensive fluffy sofa, Louise reminded them.
"Oh and dinner will be ready in the next two hours!"
"Okaay!" Luka replied with a smile. "Later mum, dad."
Miku just bowed once again.
The couple both just nodded at the teenagers, amusement swirling in their eyes as they watched them interact with each other while walking away. They looked to be enjoying each others company, much to Luka's parents relief. Their daughter was finally making friends.
"Luka seems to be having a great social progress in school." Louise sipped her tea gracefully, a happy smile adorning her beautiful features. "Isn't it great honey?"
Ryuki gave her an uncertain look, earning a pinch on the cheeks by his wife.
"Stop being so over-protective!" She let go of the adult's cheek, who instantly rubbed it as soon as the woman let go, looking like a kicked puppy. "She's safe by the hands of that girl, I can feel it."
Ryuki knew not to deny his wife's intuitions, since it didn't really prove them wrong and has always been right. But he just couldn't stop worrying, an unknown organization suddenly appears and offers them security, who wouldn't? Though what baffled them was, how'd they even know they needed one?
"I know what you're worrying about, dear." His wife spoke up, placing her tea down the table afterwards. "I can't help but think too."
"But this kind of security is just what we need," She added. "A few of our business partners have also been offered by them and they never made a mistake."
"Even though the organization seem suspicious and not trustworthy," She continued once more. "We just really need their assistance right now."
Letting a small smile grace her features she spoke once more. "And besides, I thought their people will have cold demeanors with being the best fighters and what not, but I was pleasantly surprised they aren't."
"Their young too." She added.
The black haired man nodded in agreement.
"That girl must be really good if she's sent off in a work like this." Ryuki finally spoke after being silent the whole time. "And really trusted, also not to mention her age.."
"Well there is more than meets the eye," The woman said, shrugging. "But I could tell the girl's been through a lot."
"How could you tell?" Ryuki knew how observant his wife was, and it always baffled him on how she can always tell people's feelings or something along the lines of that. Some people even call her a psychiatrist due to her ability even though she was never one.
Louise just stuck out her tongue at his husband and giggled, making Ryuki sigh at his wife's actions. He just smiled and drank his already lukewarm coffee and conversed with his wife, the earlier topic forgotten.
"Oh!" Louise exclaimed in realization, surprising her husband. "Don't think that I didn't see what you were doing earlier! Or the last time we met Miku-chan!"
Ryuki sweat dropped. This doesn't sound good.
"You know you shouldn't always..." She chided her husband and went on. While Ryuki just sat there, his head downcast as his wife scolded him, looking like a defeated child.
Miku and Luka was currently standing in front of an expensive looking wooden door, looking like they just had fun after their little tour around the pinkette's large home.
"And that's about the whole mansion." Luka concluded with a smile on her face, while Miku did the same. "If you're still having problems, you can always ask me."
Nodding her head, she flashed Luka a rather coy smile. "Sure."
"Thanks Luka." The tealette said with a smile on her face, turning to the door in front of them. "So I guess this is my room?"
"Yes, it is." She answered also with a smile of her own. "And my room is right beside yours."
Backing up slightly, the tealette looked at the door beside her soon-to-be-room. Luka's door was to the left, and hers was the right one. Nodding as she briefly implanted the information into her brain, she smiled at the pinkette who was looking at her quite intensely.
Tilting her head in confusion, she asked the pinkette what was wrong.
"N-No it's nothing," Luka quickly replied, her face slightly flushed. "I just can't believe that I've never seen you before when my parents actually knew you."
Well, this is bad. She swallowed.
"Ah yeah.." She laughed nervously. "But we still met each other didn't we?"
Before Luka could answer, the tealette quickly said something.
"Anyways can I see my room?"
"Y-Yeah sure.."
Giving the pinkette a small smile Miku slowly opened the door and went inside, leaving the door open for the pinkette. Shaking her head, getting rid of her thoughts, Luka went inside and closed the door behind her.
Miku was only slightly surprised at the spacious room before her since she'd seen numerous spacious rooms like these just a few moments ago, already used to the place's extravagance. The walls were creamy white, and had a rather high ceiling. A wooden queen sized bed in the middle which was orderly cleaned, a side table with lamp on the side of the bed, and a red carpet in the center which had small chairs and a mini table over it.
The bed was sheltered by a portion of wall that had panels of glass slide doors at both the sides of it that stretched on until another portion of wall blocked the veranda behind them. The veranda was rather wide with marble dividers, revealing a clear view of the sky above the mansion and a good view of the forest before it. The glass doors were covered with thick deep crimson sheets of curtain, a perfect shield for the daytime rays of the sun.
Lastly, a long modern dresser with mirror at the side of the room, then another wooden door on the other side. Everything looked rather modern, and the room looked like it wasn't being used by anyone even though it looked recently cleaned.
Taking in all of the things she was seeing, she head the pinkette talk beside her.
"Should I leave you here for a while?" Luka asked kindly.
"Nope," She replied, nonchalantly. "Being with you is rather nice."
Luka blushed at the tealette's words.
"Being with you is nice as well." She said, smiling at the tealette who looked at the pinkette with her captivating teal eyes. The tealette just grinned.
They stared it each other for a while, both of their hearts beating quickly in unison.
"That girl is a hazard to my plans!" A man angrily growled as he slammed down his fists on his messy desk, surprising his men in front of him.
Dropping the now crumpled report that he was holding from his hands, he placed his fingers on the bridge of his nose to control his anger, then he glared at the two nervous men in suit. He ran a hand through his graying slicked back hair and spoke once again, his voice more or less tamed.
"What is that man doing this time?"
"H-He had sent another batch of men today, but so far it appears that there are still no progress." One of the men answered, his body straight and tense.
"..." A vein or two popped on the man's head.
"He sent people again?!" He raised the volume of his voice once more, the two men backing slightly away. "Didn't the other times he did that failed?!"
"Y-Yes sir, but he insisted on doing so and pleaded to give him more time." The other man in black said, a cold sweat beading down his chin.
"Heh." He scoffed and leaned back on his chair with his eyes closed. Then opened his eyes, grabbed a cigarette from somewhere on his desk, and lit it up as he placed it in his mouth. After puffing out a few smoke from his mouth and nose, he stared at the two tense men in front of him with his blue piercing cold eyes.
"Give him one more month, and if he fails.."
He blew once more, a sinister grin appearing on his face.
"We'll take care of him and this ourselves."
