A/N: Well here I am updating for idk. A lot has happened in my life and I didn't have the energy to write. I lost my will to write and I lost the joy of writing. I am feeling a lot better as of late. I know probably no one will read this anymore because I took so long to update. But I am okay with that. I think I will continually update from now on. The other author who was originally going to write any battle scenes has dropped out of writing. They wrote the first part of this fic, the prologue. But yeah sorry I never updated and I am sorry this is not much considering it has been so long. Anyways yeah. I also did not write for so long because a lot of drama happened within the fandom and I got very annoyed with the fandom for awhile. things seemed to have calmed down mostly so I think I will be more active from now on. Thanks.
~Ice Goddess~
The ground beneath my boots crunch on the icy cold ground. Even the smallest breathes are visible no matter how much i try to breathe out colder air.
Three ahead at the door of the south tower, two at the top.
No hope on this side either. well shit.
I remove my face mask, holding a hand to my ear piece.
"Negative Ralphie, too many tango's on the south gate too."
I hear ralph groaning.
"Look we knew we would have to get dirty on this mission eventually. I'm here to save Sven so we are gonna hit him from the north tower, there was one less guard there so let's take it."
"Fine, but we don't move out till 0200. Get back here now."
"On my way."
I pull my face guard back up.
It was the fourth day of the search and rescue. It had only taken a day to find our prisoners. But getting here undetected was another thing. It's hard to tell who is a civilian and who is actually an enemy soldier. We moved slow enough that back home they thought we had gotten captured there for a few hours.
Now here we are, crawling on the ground, 20 men and 2 walls away from bringing them back. and we can't fucking get in.
"Kris get down. NOW."
Instantly i hit the ground, eyes up, rifle ready.
"I see you, but there's a guard on your 8, about five yards back. He hasn't seen you yet."
I turn my head slowly, I can make out his boots as he slowly walks in my direction. it's dark but I am still in minimal cover, there's not much on this island that works with camouflage.
His boots stop.
"Don't breathe."
Trust me, already wasn't.
His boots turn towards me.
Sorry Elsa.
Then he turns and continues past me.
"Jesus Kristoff, fucking pay attention, that was too close."
I stay on the ground but begin again towards my team.
"Don't move."
But this time it's not Ralph.
I look up into a pair of green eyes and a rifle pointed between my eyes.
"Get up."
Slowly I stand, hands raised above my head.
The man in front of me keeps one hand on his gun but moves the other to his ear.
"Sir I found the trespasser, I'm bringing him in now."
Instead of re-gripping the rifle he jerks mine off of its neck strap and tosses it onto the dirt road 4 yards away. Prodding me with the barrel of the gun he pushes me towards the gate.
"Kristoff I don't think he has seen your earpiece, we don't want a war, destroy it. You're dressed as a civilian, despite all the black. So act like one. I promise we will get you out, we'll continue the plan. Stay strong."
Ralph's voice fades away.
get rid of the ear piece, right.
I see a stick right in front of me.
This outta do.
I trip and fall to the ground. I quickly grab the ear piece and drop it on the ground.
"Get up!"
The guard kicks me in the side before forcing me to rise.
As we begin our pace again I am sure to step on the earpiece unnoticed.
The gates draw near. I never knew a wall could be so menacing as the ones before me looked now.
I've never believed in anything other than myself, but at this moment in time I prayed to anything that would listen.
"Sir, mission failed. I repeat mission failed. Kristoff has been captured. We gathered small intel on the facility but no prisoners rescued."
The radio remained silent except for the buzz of the line.
A low sigh broke the white noise.
"Report back to the escape zone."
Ralph looked to the 3 other men.
"Move out men, you heard the man."
No one moved. They glanced at each other then held their positions.
One man spoke up for the soildiers.
"We can't leave yet."
"It wasn't a question Private. I said move out. We will come back with a new plan."
Ralph tightened the straps of his pack and turned towards their exit route.
"Sir we aren't leaving. They will increase security as soon as they realize Kristoff is military. He's in civilian clothes but it won't take long. Then they will relocate and we have to start all over. We're staying."
Ralph turned towards the men, all of them nodded slightly to show they agreed with Private Phillip.
"We're all disobeying direct orders from one of our generals, that won't look to good for when I try to advance a rank."
"Sir you don't have to stay. We understand the situation. We wouldn't expect you to ruin your chances of reaching Major."
Making his way over to the men in front of him, Ralph gave a small smirk and playfully shoved the Private.
"And leave you men to get captured as well? Now that would look even worse on my part."
Looking around the men began to smile up at the huge man.
"No don't worry, I'll just make you all run laps for a week straight after this. Kristoff is gonna run his whole life after this for making us rescue him."
Ralph pulled his pistol out and handed it to the Private.
"You'll need this more than I do tonight Private."
Confused, Phillip looked up at his superior.
"Excuse me sir?"
"Well, your idea. You get to lead it. Its my token of good luck, and with the given situation, you will need all the luck you can get."
The private looked down to the silver pistol. He took his own pistol out and handed it to Ralph.
"You still need a side arm."
Phillip put the new pistol in the now empty holder. Ralph doing the same with his new pistol.
"So what's the plan sir?"
The private motioned for all the men to crouch around him.
"Alright here's how it's gonna work."
No.
The steps of my boots echoed around the building.
My legs couldn't carry me fast enough.
Every step made me fall further out of reality.
You're dreaming. Just wake up.
Turning the final corner my stomach lurched.
The office door was ajar and there stood the man of the hour.
"Yes sir, she's here now."
Elsa grabbed the phone from the Captain before her.
"What happened. I heard something about one of Kristoffs men were captured. Then I heard mutany. I ne-"
"Major!"
The frantic woman in the office was cut short at the sound of the Captains yell.
Her eyes looked to the man before her, silence in the room.
That's when she could hear the dial tone on the phone.
"They thought it best if I was informed and then you heard. They think since I am around you more I can better explain."
All Elsa could let out was short breaths, still winded from the sprint and the alarm of the situation.
"During the mission they were trying to get more intel on the resources and men of the facility in which they have been keeping our prisoners. They misjudged the enemy and got to close to the situation, by then it was too late. A man was captured and his radio connection severed."
The Captain, looked to the Major, desperation in his eyes. Pleading for something. Elsa returned his glance with a face of far worse desperation.
"Please continue."
The captain nodded, then continued.
"The men who were not captured decided to disregard the order to return back to base and instead are leading their own mission to save the prisoners."
Elsa, still clutching the phone, used her free hand to grab onto the desk.
"Captain, who was it?"
"Major…"
"Captain, who was it?"
I need to hear you say it.
The man looked to his boots. Closing his eyes he sighed out the name.
"Captain Bjorgman. He didn't make it. He's the captured soldier."
