Chapter 9

Korra POV:

After getting some candles out, lighting them, and making sure everyone was alright, we all sat down in the living room. There was a lot of awkward small talk, mostly between Bolin and Asami.

"This is wayyyy too awkward." said Mako. I agree.

"Hey Korra, why don't you play us a song?" someone who I don't really know asked. Almost everyone was in agreement. All except for Bolin.

"It's up to Bolin." I replied. Everyone looked over at him.

"Anything's better than sitting here doing nothing." He said in a very neutral tone. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I grabbed the flashlight we had found earlier and went downstairs to grab my guitar. I don't really have a fear of the dark, but I couldn't help jog on the way back from grabbing my guitar. Just one of those things. I sat back down and starting strumming a few chords.

"We broke

Everything that was right

We both enjoyed a good fight

And we sewed

All the holes we had to breathe

To make the other one leave

And I loved the way you looked at me

And I miss the way you made me feel

When we were alone

When we were alone

And I'll shiver like I used to

And I'll leave him just for you

And I'll shiver like I used to

Just for you

And we stole

Every moment we had to make the other one feel bad

And we hoped that we could be what we knew

It never turn out to be real

And I loved the way you looked at me

And I miss the way you made me feel

When we were alone

When we were alone

And I'll shiver like I used to

And I'll leave him just for you

And I'll shiver like I used to

Just for you

And if we turn back time

Could we learn to live right

And if we turn back time

Could we learn to live right

And if we turn back time

Could we learn to live right

And if we turn back time

Could we learn

And I'll shiver like I used to

And I'll leave him just for you

And I'll shiver like I used to

Just for you

Like I used to"

I finished up and took a deep breath. Everyone clapped, and as if it were a miracle, the power came back on shortly afterwards as well. Thank god.

The rest of the party went on without any other complications. There was a little bit more rain, but nothing too terrible. It was around 10:30 PM when everyone besides Mako and Bolin had left. I was cleaning up with Asami while the guys were sitting in the living room watching T.V. and chatting away. For such a small party, the mess was actually quite large. It took another 30 minutes or so to clean up, so by the time we were finished it was now 11. Mako had passed out on the couch, and Bolin was starting to doze off.

"Bolin dear, this isn't the place to sleep." Asami whispered in his ear. He got up, and they walked into Asami's bedroom together. Great, what am I supposed to do with Mako?

"Hey dickhead, wake up." I said at Mako. No response. I'll try again. "Hey Mako, you need to go home. It's 11 o'clock." Still nothing. I tried shaking him, and there was no response again. At this point, I'm starting to get worried. "Mako, this isn't funny, wake up!" I'm practically yelling now. Asami comes out of her room.

"Korra, what's going on?" She asked.

"It's Mako, he's not waking up." I said, tears starting to roll down my face. Asami ran over and checked his pulse.

"He's not breathing." She said. "Korra, call an ambulance." She yelled. I ran over to the phone and called 911. I looked back over to see Asami trying to perform CPR on him.

"911, what's your emergency?" The female answered.

"My friend isn't breathing, we need an ambulance." I gave her the address and hung up. I walked back over to Asami, who now had Mako on his side and there was vomit on the group beside her. She looked up at me.

"He's breathing again. He was choking on his own vomit. Korra, if you hadn't checked on him, he wouldn't be alive." She said calmly. She's going to school to be a nurse. Must be why she's so calm. The ambulance showed up shortly after. They took him out of the house, out to the vehicle.

"Does anyone want to ride along, for moral support if he wakes up?" One of the EMT's asked. Asami looked over at me.

"I have to stay with Bolin." She said.

"Okay, I'll go." I said, following the man out to the ambulance. I climbed into the back and sat down beside the passed out Mako. It was another twenty minutes before we arrived at the hospital. They wheeled him inside and took him into a room. I followed and after the EMT's left, it was just Mako and I for a little bit. A nurse came in shortly after and asked me some questions. She said it was probably due to some bad food he ate or too much alcohol and the way he was sleeping prevented the vomit from coming back up so it got caught in his throat. She left after a bit more talking, and once again, we were alone.

It was around 2 AM when Mako finally woke up.

"Where am I…" he said, looking around.

"In a hospital. I tried waking you up after you fell asleep, and you wouldn't wake up. Asami performed CPR and cleared your airways, but just to be sure we had an ambulance bring you here." I replied, relieved he was finally awake.

"Oh… Okay…" He said. I understand it's a lot to take in. "Uh.. Korra… Thank You." He said genuinely.

"Don't worry about it. I just didn't want you sleeping on the couch." I said, trying to lighten the mood.

"I'm not just talking about that. You didn't have to come to the hospital as well, and yet here you are. So, again, Thank you." He said.

"Okay, you need to stop. You being so sincere is really creeping me out." I said, and we both chuckled a bit. There was an awkward silence that follow for around another five minutes. "I think I'm going to get going. They said you should be able to check out tomorrow morning." I said, getting up and grabbing my coat.

"Oh.. Okay." He said, sounding a little sad. I walked over and gave him a hug.

"I'm just glad you're okay." I said while hugging him, and then I walked out of the room. 3 AM now. Who needs sleep anyhow.

I called for a taxi, gave him my address and got in. The drive felt like it lasted an eternity. I paid the driver and climbed out. The kitchen and living room lights were on as I walked up to the door. Walking in, I saw that Asami was still awake.

"How are things?" she asked, looking over. I sat down beside her on the couch.

"The nurse said it was probably food poisoning, but they're going to run some tests just to be sure. He woke up as well." I said, rubbing my temples. Who would have thought this would be the way my day went.

"That's good. Thank you for going with them Korra. It must have been a big relief to him to have someone familiar around when he woke up." She said, giving me a hug. I hugged her back really hard and let the tears start flowing again.

"I was so scared Asami."

"I know." she replied, starting to run and her up and down my back, still in the hug, and starting humming a familiar tune. It's a very calming sensation. I slowly dozed off, finally getting some much needed sleep.

AN~ I'm back after around a year of not posting. A lot has changed, mostly that I'm in college now and I actually have a proper device to write on now. Sorry for not updating, tried to make this chapter rather juicy to make it up to you guys. Anyhow, Review and all that good stuff. Till next time, Au Revoir.
