Letters from a Mutual Friend: 9

Letter 9: What Is This Thing Called Sleep?

Author's Disclaimer: No, I still do not own Labyrinth. All rights go to their respective owners. I just like playing with the characters a bit. Life goes on Underground, but I'm afraid something has happened. I'm not sure who is going to go crazy first: Jareth or Sarah's friends. What has happened to Sarah? Enjoy!

[Your Impatienceness Your Unreasonableness]

Your Majesty,

As Sir Didymus has told you [for the last three days straight], no, we still have not heard from Sarah yet. We are unsure why she has not spoken to us, as we parted on good terms [or so we all thought], in person and in the last letter. When we have news from her, we will [blow a trumpet visit you personally no matter the hour] write to you immediately. If we need any other help, we will [not] let you know. Best wishes for your [temper] health.

Your [worried annoyed] servants,

Hoggle, Ludo, and Sir Didymus

[Your High Annoyance Sir He Who Must Not Be Named Our Circling Highness]

Your Majesty,

As of [just looking up, almost in a paranoid matter] a moment ago, we still have not heard from Sarah [so stop sending notes and driving Sir Didymus crazy as you pace and ask him unanswerable questions]. This note is being hand-delivered since [you have managed to kick all of the goblins into the bog and we want to have a few who don't smell like old bog water] we cannot find any. When we hear from Sarah, we will write to you [as soon as we stop rejoicing] then and there. [Please stop worrying and pestering us!] We hope you try to sleep more [as your pacing and lack of sleep are not helping your mood, nor is wearing black every day] so that you can stay healthy.

Your [tired fed-up] servants,

Hoggle, Ludo, and Sir Didymus

[Your Ridiculousness Your Glitteriness]

Your Majesty,

We bring glad tidings in this letter, as we have finally heard from Sarah [despite your fears to the contrary]. She is well [unlike you, who leaves angry trails of glitter everywhere you go] and has been busy with exams and people problems. The exams went tolerably well, considering that she was in the middle of a huge fight with her roommate. It seems she was tired of seeing a mess and reported her roommate to the hall advisor after Jess refused to do anything. In retribution, her roommate refused to speak to her, and then stole our most recent letter to Sarah, which Sarah answered as soon as she got it back. It seems her roommate gave it back after reading the contents [since she seemed to think it a love letter from a guy] and realized that this was a serious letter from "close friends" [as we have claimed previously]. Sarah doesn't trust her still, but Jess is trying to fix it by cleaning again and scaring away a fellow named Marcus [from the party] who was keeping up both girls repeatedly at night, screaming about "creepy goblins". We think the goblins did their job too well when they visited him right after the party. Sarah is very sorry for all the worry she has caused [though she has no idea how much, nor how many times shouts of "Useless Crystals!" or "Bog Feathers!" were uttered.] We will do our best to help [as you would probably bog everyone on sight] when we write to her. We hope that you sleep better tonight [for once in the past month], and Sir Didymus will [tell you everything else] explain anything else tomorrow that gives you trouble.

Your [nervous busy] servants,

Hoggle, Ludo, and Sir Didymus

Author's Notes: Oh my! Poor Sarah. Never fear, there have been some misunderstandings, and it has all come out at last. More will come to make up the time lost between them. Ah, the joys of drama in college. I don't like seeing such things happen to Sarah, but sometimes it is necessary. Hang in there! I hope the rest of the trio's responses to Jareth made up for it. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Thequeitcorner: Awesome! I'm glad you like the brackets, as you have hit the jackpot of them in this chapter. Somehow, it is much easier to grumble when you have less sleep. Thanks for letting me know! :D

FarGreenCountrySwiftSunrise: It makes me happy too :D Ludo is just so lovable that he has to have a family. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them in the future. Thanks for the review!
