I stood in the shower until the water turned cold, trying to process. I needed answers, something that only he could give me. I got dressed and went to the medical bay, flashing my badge to allow me to enter. I went to the back where tanks were stored and found his being monitored.
"Can you tell me what you're finding with this one?" I asked the attendant.
"There is nothing out of the ordinary. But we're just pumping him with extra sedatives so when they interview him he can't assault another guard." She said.
"When is his interrogation?" I asked, keeping a hand on the tank.
"In about fifteen minutes. I was just about to call a guard to assist me with transferring him from the tank to the chair." She said motioning to the wheelchair with cuffs.
"I can do it." I said.
"But Agent, no less than 12 hours ago you were burning up." She said worried.
"They send me here because a fever can't stop me. Besides, he's the one who did this to me." I responded quickly.
"Alright…" She said worried. She unlocked the tank and began taking off the suction cups that attached to his body. Together we hoisted him up and plopped him in the chair. I knelt down and tightened the arm and ankle restraints.
"can you get me a few towels? The interview rooms are cold, the least we can do is dry him off a little." I said. "we aren't the monsters." She gave me a few and I dried him the best I could before wheeling him to the interrogation room. Chiron sat inside with a few guards surrounding him and the door.
"Thank you for bringing the prisoner Miss Lenark." Chiron said.
"Sir, if I may, I would like to sit in on the meeting. His powers seem to only be affecting me, and I would like to know." I said.
"If it will bring you peace than alright." He said pulling back a chair for me. I sat as the two guards pushed the wheelchair to the tip of the table. Carter began to stir. He coughed as his head raised.
"What do you want?" He groaned out, his hair covering most of his face.
"When you were at camp, you showed no potential to gain powers, has this changed?" Chiron asked.
"I don't have powers." He said softly.
"You are lying Mr. Swanton." Chiron said, pushing an IPad in front of him and it was a security video of me, collapsing and crying out. It made Carter cringe.
"I didn't do that. I don't know how that happened." He said. He had a pained look in his eyes.
"When you are in stasis, what do you see?" He asked.
"Nothing. It's just like sleeping." He said.
"Liar! You did something to her. Boys, make him talk." Chiron said. The two guards pulled their tasers out and jabbed them into him. He yelled in pain. I felt a buzz in my back, and his screams pulled at me.
"Carter tell them!" I yelled at him. Everything seemed to stop.
"Miss Lenark? Did you omit something from your report?" Chiron said.
"My father did it to her. He let me speak to her." Carter said.
"Why Miss Lenark?" Chiron said.
"First person who came close enough to my tank." Carter said.
"Is this true Miss Lenark? What did he tell you?" Chiron asked.
"He told me he hated us. It was a verbal attack…" I said.
"Get him back into his tank, and tell the medics to insert procedure 11 into the tank." the guards wheeled him away and left Chiron and me alone in the room.
"Miss Lenark, you were becoming such a good soldier. But you're showing weakness. You're showing sympathy. Give me your walkie." I nervously did so.
"Red Theta. Red Theta in the interrogation wing." He said calmly. I didn't know this code. Suddenly the doors were busted open and security guards in all black grabbed me and covered my head with a bag. "I hope to see you soon Miss Lenark." Chiron said as they pulled me somewhere.
