He bent down and gathered me up in his arms. I gave up and didn't carried me up the stairs.

Carefully he opened the door to the room, walking in I look up at me he didn't look at me all he stared forward. He couldn't even look at me and yet he had mated me.

I knew nothing about Inu mating, the only Inu I had known was Inuyasha and he was only a hanyou until last year. The times I had met Sesshomaru in the time I had been in the feudal era I could count on both hands.

Here I was powerless and weak. Here he was the same with the air of ignorance and superiority, he had lost nothing and I had lost everything.

He laid me on the bed and began to walk away at least he was leaving me alone. He closed the windows and the doors.

I closed my eyes, I was exhausted mentally and physically. The covers were pulled over me I opened my eyes to look at him with hatred.

"Sleep and we shall speak when you rise." He spoke as he ran his hand through my hair.

"Don't touch me." I spat as I threw his hand off me. He looked at me for a moment and left the room.

I turned and looked at the ceiling the crystals and mirrors eerily reflected the light. I had gone to Japanese castles in my time during class and fusui principles were very popular most of the castles had some crystals hanging in the corners of rooms to keep energy moving.

Here the crystals and mirror formed swirls and patterns embedded into the wooden beams.

Two days ago my life was ordinary as it could be falling down a well 500 years in the past to piece together a jewel that mystically burst from my body which was single handily shattered by me.

I had done this to myself, I had become complete depended on my powers they had never once failed me in the past. I had allowed myself to become lazy, comfortable in the presence of my friends believing in their strength.

Without my powers and my friends, I was just an ordinary girl that could bleed and break.

Against demons that could bend nature to their will , move faster than the eye could see and could break bones without a strain.

My heart fluttered in fear in my chest. The final battle with Naraku , I was willing to die for my friends for a cause but to die now at the mercy of a man that I did not know other than the brother of my dear friend, I was terrified.

No one in the modern day would end up accidentally married , so how could someone mate someone without the consent of both.

I didn't choose him. I had allowed myself to be lost in the moment and the moment was what caused all this.

I wouldn't allow myself to once again become the naive little girl that fell down the well. I was stuck in the past but I would be damned if I let anyone control my life other than me.

Slowly I dozed off. I dreamt of Sesshomaru not as before, now he was the man that held me pinned against a wall, gouging his claws into my body, biting me, attacking Sango.

Waking up with a start, I sat up in bed. It wasn't just a nightmare it was reality, my reality.

Groaning I lay back in bed, wincing as the skin tugged at the wounds on my waist. I would get answers.

There was a knock on the door, turning toward it I spoke."Come in."

"Morning, Lady Kagome. I will prepare a bath for you as Lord Sesshomaru has instructed. Lady Akira is waiting downstairs for you when you are ready." She spoke as others came in carrying pails.

"Alright, thank-you." I smiled at her, bringing my legs under my chin. Akira I didn't know what I thought of her yet. She was of the Taisho family and of that family was Inuyasha and Sesshomaru which was she more like.

Bathing I sat in front of the mirror I looked much better. I had some colour to my skin and strength back in my body.

Dressing in the teal kimono laid out I tied the all the obis. Pinning the top crown of my hair up I left the room.

This time, I looked closer at where I was. Warm sunshine poured in through the skylights in the vaulted roof.

I looked at the paintings that lined the walls, it was of Inuyoukai in their demon form. I stopped to look at a painting on the top of the stairs. It was a family portrait. A youkai in armour with his hair pulled back and blue stripes on his face stood next a woman with white hair , a purple crescent moon on her forehead with magenta lighting bolts under her eyes. Between them was the perfect merge a little boy with short silver hair a purple crescent just like the woman and instead of jagged purple stripes like the man he had smooth magenta stripes that also adorned his eyelids.

This was a family portrait, not of any family it was of Sesshomaru's family. The man was Inu No Taisho, I had never seen him before. He had the same features of Inuyasha and Sesshomaru.

I looked at Sesshomaru he looked like a solemn child not seemed innocent.

"That was painted just before the summer festival. Uncle wanted me to be in the painting but Aya she didn't want an orphan ruining her portrait." Akira spoke from behind me.

"Good morning." Speaking as I descended the stairs. Like last night there was a table covered with food.

I sat down at the table, she sat down next to me. " You had me worried for a bit, you slept like the dead. I came to check on you." She smiled at me.

I gave a faint smile and began to load my plate, I was starving. " Where is he?" Asking as I began to eat.

"How about I show you around, the gardens, the markets." She spoke as she diverted from the topic at hand.

I slowly ate my food in silence, if she couldn't answer me there was no point in having a conversation with her.

She ate her's in silence as well. Finishing I stood up, smoothing out my kimono I turned toward her.

"Take me to him." Speaking as she stood.

"Kagome, you should remain calm and take things slowly." She spoke as she looked at me."Last night when he brought you in I thought you screaming and thrashing was because of him making you submit, I didn't know." She held on to my hand and gave me a reassuring squeeze.

"Akira, please just take me to him. I want to be done with this." Anger coming into his voice.

"Alright come with me." She spoke walking next to me, she opened the grand doors. Following her down the corridor I looked out the windows. I could see the entire castle all the huts and the wall from here.

"He wasn't always this way, there was a time when he was happy, he was my favourite person in the world. There was a time that laughter rung in these halls. We were a family here once." Solemnly Akira smiled at me.

"Akira, I don't need to hear this. Just take me to him." Speaking as we turned a corner and a beautiful garden sprawled out in front of us. I didn't care who he use to be or what use to be. All I cared about was leaving.

We walked along the wooden corridor that wound around the garden. " This is the family wing. All the men and women are bound to this lineage by loyalty." She smiled at a woman walking by.

Why was she so adamant on talking to me, why did she have this need to explain things to me .

" Sesshomaru's study is by the entertaining rooms , it overlooks the guard training area." Speaking as she walked.

We walked I looked at the traditional Japanese architecture steep roof stops with clay tiles, instead of the traditional dark clay tiles they were light. Japanese paintings hung across the walls, delicate hand painted vases displayed on stands.

Smaller gardens came along the path we walked but none as large as the family garden.

"Sesshomaru is a man of his word he would have not gone into this without reason or thought." She spoke, halting me in my path as she held onto me by the arms.

"Akira, I need you to stop. I understand he is your family but for me, he is the monster in my story. " I spoke sliding her hands off me.

She sighed and kept walking. She was very adamant on making me understand Sesshomaru .If he wanted me to understand he could explain it himself.

Men and women in red and white walked by smiling. An old lady with teal eyes and grey hair grabbed onto my arm gingerly.

" The west has not had a lady in a long time, I had thought I would pass before the little lord took a mate." She smiled as she caressed my cheek. She was a shorter than me, her face was sweet covered in wrinkles.

"Sora was Sesshomaru's nursemaid as pup." Akira smiled as she hugged the lady.

"He will be a pup in my eyes until my last days as you." She smiled tucking hair behind Akira's ear.

"Sora, I thought you were in the South visiting Keitaro." She beamed at the lady as she walked forward.

"I was but these old knees don't work as they use to and the south is a great away. Of mi five pups none of ye have mated and one I wait to meet again in the afterlife." She smiled.

"Sora, I will take you to the South myself. Kagome and I have some work to do I will see you soon." She hastily sent the old lady on her way.

"Sora is the only one that can still make Sesshomaru heel as though he were still a is the closest thing to a mother to always had something else she rather attends to and would choose to ignore us even is given the time." She spoke as she played with her hands as we walked.

"Is Aya still alive?" I asked my curiosity took the best of me I had been adamant of not caring or talking.

"I don't know she hasn't been part of this family for a long time, even before Izayoi." She spoke as she stopped in front of a large door, it had two large dogs engraved into the dark wood.

This was it this was, we had walked a good 15 minutes to get here.

Should I knock, open the door? I turned to look at Akira, she was gone.

As I stood in front of the door musing how I should enter. The doors opened revealing the Lord of West.
