I was a good girl and I typed most of this up in between classes. Sorry it took so long, I had alot of projects due during a two week period so that stunted my typing time. But the semester is basically over so I'll be able to finish this story in peace haha.

Kind of super tired so don't have much to say so just enjoy.

Chapter 9!

It's the middle of the night, I'm in a deep slumber, comfortable and warm underneath the blankets, and then I hear the doorbell ring. I wanted to ignore it; I wanted to just roll over and act like I had never heard it. But considering the fact that Dawn's here with me, and she definitely heard it too, she wasn't going to let me avoid this. She slapped my chest, which was unnecessary by the way, and started shaking me.

"Someone's at the door Paul!" she whispered to me.

I growled and then curled deeper into the blankets. "They can just come back tomorrow." I said.

The doorbell rang again and we both sat there in silence, neither of us moving a muscle. Then it rang a third time,

"Paul!"

"Alright alright, fine." I sighed as I ripped the covers off and made my way down the stairs. When I got to the door, I wrapped my hand around the knob and pulled it open. Honestly, I wasn't surprised to see a certain person standing there. Ash was there wearing jeans, a hoodie, and his usual trademark hat. He scratched the back of his head nervously, "He…hey Paul, what's going on? Whatchya doing?"

I leaned up against the door frame and raised an eyebrow at him. "Sleeping."

"Haha cool. Yeah I was just taking a midnight stroll through the neighborhood and thought that I would just stop by for a visit. You know, see how my best friends Paul and Dawn are doing haha. So…what are you doing?"

I stared at him for a minute and then sighed, "Misty kicked you out again?"

"No." he quickly replied, even though he was obviously lying.

I rolled my eyes and motioned for him to come in. This wasn't the first time that this has happened. Ash's on again off again girlfriend Misty can be a bit of a hot head and Ash, well, he can be quite dense at times. As we walked towards the living room, we passed by Dawn who was standing at the bottom of the stair case.

"Misty kicked you out again?" she said.

"No!" Ash defended.

She just giggled, walked to the closet, grabbed a blanket and tossed it to him. "So what did you say this time?" she asked.

He shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, something about me eating all of her food or drinking all of her soda or something like that."

Dawn just rolled her eyes and smiled, "You two just can't get along can you?"

"I guess not." Ash laughed.

"Well I'm tired, so I'm going back to bed." And with that, she turned on her heel and went back to our bedroom.

Ash turned to me, "Thanks again for letting me stay at your house Paul. I hope I'm not getting in the way of you and, you know, Dawn." He said while nudging my shoulder and winking.

I just rolled my eyes and pushed him off of me, "Oh please, you weren't interrupting anything. If you were, then I just wouldn't have opened the door in the first place. Besides she's been really distance this past week so NOTHING has happened."

"Well you're supposed to be going away for 2 weeks to cover for that gym leader right? Maybe she's sad that you're leaving." He suggested. For the record, just in case you didn't know, Gardenia, the gym leader from Eterna City has a broken leg from a car related incident, so I told her that I would cover for her. I don't know if that's allowed but that's what we're doing. You're probably also wondering how I even know her on that level, well…I was the one who ran her over so I basically have no choice on the matter, it was an accident, I swear.

I looked at Ash and shrugged, "Yeah but I leave all the time for extended periods of time and she never has a problem with it. Regardless of how she feels, it's not like she can't handle herself without me around."

"Just talk to her. You guys probably communicate way better then Misty and I do." He joked.

I chuckled at his statement, "That's for damn sure."

We laughed and then gave each other a fist bumped, don't even get me started on why we started doing that. It had to do with some game show we were in together a year back that we definitely don't need to go into detail about. Either way, after that, we said our goodbyes and I went back upstairs and went to bed. I'm going to need all of the energy I can get for tomorrow.

So it's the next morning, and I'm packing my bag getting ready to leave. I know this must seem like a huge jump from last night, but not much has happened since then. Ash left to try and make up with Misty; and Dawn caught on fire, her hair got too close to the stove and that's all I really need to say. I packed some clothes, my pokeballs, some food for the road because my license is suspended, and a few other things that I might need. I put my hands in my pockets and walked into the bathroom where Dawn was trying to fix her now burnt hair.

"I'm leaving." I told her.

She dropped the scissors into the sink and didn't really look at me. "So soon?" She asked in a shocked tone.

I nodded my head, "Yeah, I want to get a head start."

She seemed a little bothered by my choice in an early departure, but honestly, I didn't have the time or the care of day to deal with it. We walked out onto the front yard and prepared to say good bye. Her cheeks had a tint of red on them and she looked at the ground.

"I'll be back in 2 weeks. I have to babysit this stupid gym because obviously some people don't know how to cross a damn street." I spat.

You can tell that I'm not happy about this situation. She fidgeted around a little bit and kept looking around.

"Hey Paul? Can we talk before you go?" she asked.

The question was out of nowhere, it was so random. I really wasn't in the mood for anything, my mind was already set on going now, and she was just slowing me down. I just wanted to go there and get this over with.

"Later." I said.

"Bu-"

"Just tell me when I get back."

"But Paul."

"Dawn, I have to go. Besides, it's probably not that important anyway." I harshly said.

I kissed her goodbye and then started walking away. I know what you're thinking, what a way to go. An argument before you leave, how romantic. As if I care, I wanted to leave as soon as possible. We live in Solaceon City, so if I leave now then I can at least get half way there by night fall. Besides, she's probably really mad right now, so it's good that I left in my opinion. You know, let her cool her heels before talking to her. I walked down the path away from my house, my wife, and my car. I'm going to miss the car the most, my bright red sports car just sitting there, wasting away while my license is suspended. I'll come back for you baby.

Don't get me wrong, being a gym leader is ok, but it's so annoying hearing this girl constantly remind me why I'm here.

"There was a stop sign jerk!" she always says.

It's like, can you just shut up and limp around somewhere else crutchy. I told her that once, she tried to hit me, but I'm no doubt faster than her, especially while she's injured. Paul 1 Gardenia 0.

So again, being a gym leader is ok, but some of these kids are such losers. Do you even have a strategy, or are you literally just leaving this up to blind faith? I destroyed one kid so bad that he gave up on being a trainer all together. Wow, what dedication he had.

It's hard not to laugh at some of them sometimes. I told one girl that she was a joke of a trainer, and that if she were any worse, than they would have to replace the definition of incompetence with her name. She tried to fight me, but her friends held her back. That was really funny, because she had absolutely no skills. What was she going to say? "I'm better then you?" because she obviously wasn't or else she would have won the battle. Paul 2 Trainer 0.

Finally! I can leave this dreadful place! I was getting sick of dealing with these amateurs. I mean, some of them were really skilled and showed a lot of potential, so it wasn't ALL bad. But I don't want to stay here. I'm a champion, not a gym leader. I know that this a bad time to mention this, but it's only been about 1 year and a half since we've been married. We only have a house because that was like the first thing that Dawn demanded that we get. And thinking about home, I better start packing. Dawn wanted to talk to me right? I wonder what's her problem, I'll figure it out when I get there.

Solaceon Town, its semi good to be back. The trees that line the streets and the crowds of people that come every year to explore the ruins and visit the Pokemon day care...it's all annoying. I remember this is where Dawn had first made me those triple chocolate, chocolate chip cookies that I love so much. That's when I first started to enjoy her presence. Thinking about it brings back some really good memories. Back then, I didn't really care much about her, or at all for that matter, but look at us now. Married, with a house…never. saw. that. coming. Either way, I'm happy. I walked by a flower shop and saw all of the big bright colorful bushels of flowers that filled the store.

'I was pretty mean to Dawn before leaving, I better get her some flowers.' I thought to myself.

I went into the store and looked around until I found the perfect bouquet; it was full of white roses, and had one big bright pink one centered in the middle. It caught my attention, i don't know why it just did, so I bought it. I held the flowers in my right hand and kept my left hand in my pocket. The sun was shining bright in the sky and the air lifted the sweet scent of the flowers right into my face. This...this was a good day, yeah, a good day. Until things went brutally wrong. I was casually walking down the path that leads to our house and slowly started to make my way to our front door when I saw it. Three fairly large men were walking out the side door. At first I panicked because I thought that they had done something to Dawn, but then I saw her waving goodbye to them.

'So...she knows them? What are they doing here? At MY house.' and that's when my worry started to turn into rage. 'I didn't recognize them at all, so who were they?' I unlocked the front door, walked inside and slammed the door behind me. Dawn walked in from the other room and waved at me as if nothing was wrong. I could tell that she was nervous because she kept fidgeting with her fingers.

"Hi Paul, how was your trip? Did everything go ok?" she said.

I wasn't going to beat around the bush, I was too mad for that, I wanted answers NOW. "Who were they?" I harshly asked her?"

She blinked a couple times in confusion and tilted her head to the side. "What?"

"I said who were they?"

"Who are you talking about?"

"Those men who just left through the side door. Stop acting like you're clueless Dawn, you know exactly what I'm talking about." I spat.

She took a step back at my sharp tone and crossed her arms. "First of all, you need to calm down, and second, that was Billy and his friends from down the street. They were helping me with something." she said.

"Helping you with what?!"

"It doesn't matter! You don't need to know everything!"

"Well I definitely need to know if my wife is cheating on me!" And that's when things escalated way beyond either of our control.

"OH! That's what you think?! You think I'm cheating on you?! That's the first conclusion that you jump to huh?!"

"Well what else am I supposed to think, this would explain why you've been acting so weird lately!"

"Weird? I've been acting weird? Well there's a reason for that too Paul but according to you 'it's probably not that important anyway'."

"So you're blaming me now?!"

"Yeah, in fact I am! You have this annoying jealousy complex, and it's driving me crazy!"

"Well news flash honey, I don't care what you say because you've been putting on weight since I left!"

She gasped at my very straightforward statement and threw a lamp at me. "GET OUT!" she screamed. "Get out you jerk!"

"Don't worry, I was planning on it. I wouldn't want to get in your way of eating everything in the fridge." I remarked as I swung the front door open and stormed away from the house. By the way, the roses are beyond destroyed by now. But as if I care, I'm still really mad. I know that things seem as bad as they could be. But I guess it's whatever it's really just me.

Sorry, I didn't really completely read over this. I was trying to finish editing while simultaneously watching a movie. For the record, the movie won the battle for my attention, sorry this chapter is short and sucks.

So there's only one chapter left after this, can't believe it's almost over. I'll update in a week or so.

Hopefully see you then!
