Chapter 9
The tent was crowded and it seemed even more so when Hermione insisted on sharing a bed with Draco. This set animosity to soaring higher on Ron's part then Hermione or Harry thought possible.
It would at some point reach boiling point. So one night while Hermione, Harry and Draco were strategizing and Ron was sleeping– he cracked.
"Oh my god…!" exclaimed Hermione, as she cut Harry's hair.
"What?" asked Harry.
"Have you muck up Potter's hair?" asked Draco.
"I'll tell you in a minute," answered Hermione, running to a book.
Harry watched his hair dropping to the ground.
"Maybe you could tell me now," said Harry, jumping to his feet and following her. Draco following as well.
"The cup," answered Hermione.
"What about it?" asked Harry.
"If you know who turned it into a horcux," she said.
"And that's quite probable," answered Harry.
"There's only a few places he could of hidden it," answered Hermione. "The ring was a the Gaunt Shack. The diary he had with him until he gave it to Lucius. The diadem was at Hogwarts. So those places are a no go. The locket was goodness knows where Regulus got it from.""So it could be anywhere," said Draco.
"The locket was from a seaside grave. Dumbledore said it was originally Salazar's and was passed down though the Gaunt family until was sold to Borgin and Burke's and the shop assistant was found dead and the locket had been stolen," said Harry. "So the cup really could be anywhere."
"No I think it's obvious," answered Hermione, rubbing her forehead. "It's staring me in the face."
"But you're over thinking," said Malfoy, standing behind her to rub her shoulder. "It's not at the Manor because dad would have bragged about it and he failed the first time."
"Nagini is with him so it can't be with him but it'll be somewhere safe," said Hermione.
"Like a vault?" asked Draco. "Aunt Bellatrix made a special visit there once from him."
"Bellatrix's vault," said Hermione. "Of course."
"You're brilliant, Hermione," answered Harry. "Truly."
"Actually, I'm highly logical, which allows me to look past the extraneous detail and perceive clearly that which others overlook," said Hermione.
"Take a compliment," said Draco.
"There's only one problem…," said Harry.
The lights clicked off and Ron came round the corner.
"You can't get into the vaults," said Ron, turning the lights back.
Draco, Hermione and Harry turn to see Ron, deluminator in hand.
"Yeah, I'm still here. But you three carry on. Don't let me spoil your fun," said Ron.
Harry glances at Hermione, who is studying Ron warily. Draco sat silent he knew this could be an ugly fight.
"What's the problem?" asked Harry.
"Problem? There's no problem. Not according to you, anyway," answered Ron.
"Look, don't be shy. If you've got something to say, spit it out," snapped Harry.
"All right, I'll spit it out. Don't expect me to skip up and down because now we have to risk our lives again,"
"Ron," whispered Hermione.
"I thought you knew what you signed up for," said Harry.
"Yeah, I thought I did too," muttered Ron.
"I don't understand. What part of this isn't living up to your expectations? Did you think we'd be staying in five-star hotels? Finding a Horcrux every other day? Did you think you'd be back to Mummy by Christmas?" shouted Harry.
"No, I just reckoned after all this time, we'd have actually achieved something. I reckoned you knew what you were doing. I reckoned Dumbledore had told you something worthwhile! I reckoned you had a plan!" shouted Ron.
"I've told you everything Dumbledore told me! And in case you haven't noticed, we've found four horcux's and destroyed them!" shouted Harry.
"Yeah, and now we have to risk our lives again for the last two!" yelled Ron.
The rain falls heavily outside.
"Do you know why I listen to that radio, every night? Do you! To make sure I don't hear Ginny's name or Fred or George or Mum!" shouted Ron.
"You think I don't listen! You think I don't know what it's like," said Harry.
"NO! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE! YOUR PARENTS ARE DEAD! YOU HAVE NO FAMILY!" yelled Ron.
"Bit of a low blow," muttered Draco.
A deathly silence fell over the tent. Harry glared at Ron. Hermione looked shocked. Suddenly, they both rush forward and lock on each other's throats, Hermione rushes in but Draco pulled her back and pulled them apart.
"Stop! Stop!" shouted Hermione.
"Go then." shouted Harry.
Ron turned to Hermione.
"And you?"
"Me?" she asked.
"Are you staying? Or coming?" he asked.
Hermione looks anguished, glancing from Ron to Harry to Draco and back again finally her eyes land on Draco.
"Fine I'll get it. You'll stay with the enemy," he sneered.
He grabbed his bag and headed out of the tent into the dark and the rain.
"Ron!" shouted Hermione, going after her.
Harry turned into the tent and Draco stood into the doorway and minutes later Hermione was back, soaking wet.
"He's gone," she whispered.
Draco pulled her towards him, not carrying she was wet.
"He'll be back. Let's go get you dry," he whispered.
Hermione nodded against his chest.
