Chapter Eight

The Blood Pact

Glass

"Okay, Eeveelutions, we will be having a meeting to determine our new strategy. Please listen up!" I said. I felt terrible that Jolt and Wisp had to deal with the Zoroark while I was paralyzed. I was the strongest and oldest! I should be able to protect them! What was I good for if the younger Eeveelutions had to deal with all the bad guys while I sat there watching, helpless? I was determined that I wouldn't do that the next time.

When they were all listening, I explained the plan. "So, in order to decrease the chances of attack, we must be extra careful. Don't give anyone your personal information, you purpose, information about us, or anything personal. Not even your real name!I don't care if that pokemon is your BFF and you think you can trust her/him, because if s/he turns out to be a traitor and betrays us, It will, at best, be an exhausting battle, and at worst, end up with us all killed, or worse, being captured. Also, stick with a partner anytime you go wandering off without the group, as a safety precaution. I know these rules may feel suffocating, but it will be worth it to keep us all safe. Remember that if you get caught, you are letting all the Eeveelutions in the PC down, because they are relying on us to find the key. Okay? Does everyone agree?"

There were some murmurs of unease among the group but eventually everyone consented to the new rule. "As testimony, you will have to sign and seal a pact. I will make a small, tiny, miniscule, cut on the pad of your paw, and you will use your blood to make an imprint on a piece of parchment that has the list of rules written on it. The parchment will be sealed with an ancient pokemon art, and after that everyone is going to use their strongest move on the parchment. This is known as a 'blood pact'. Is that understood?"

"What happens if you break the pact?"

"If ever broken, it will unleash a curse on the pokemon that broke it. This curse can only be released if the maker of the pact uses a 'reverse blood pact'."

I felt a sense of uneasiness float through the room.

"Uhhhh, what is the curse?"

"I don't know. But as long as you don't actually break the curse, you will be fine."

*Gulp*

"So n-nothing bad is gonna happen unless you break the pact, right?" Eevee asked nervously.

"Yep."

"So we should be fine!" Eevee's eyes brightened.

"If you don't want to sign it, you don't have to. But if you don't, you cannot travel with us anymore because you are putting the whole group in danger." I addressed the whole group. "So, is everyone who wants to sign it ready?"

I pulled out a piece of parchment I had prepared. I then froze a small sliver of water into a sharp needle of ice that I used to cut my left paw pad. A trickle of blood came out and I stamped my bleeding paw onto the parchment. Then I did everymon else.

"Now, was that so hard?" I asked as the other Eeveelutions licked their bleeding pads. Everymon had signed the parchment. "All that's left is to use your strongest move on the parchment!"

"C'mon! Let's do it!" Eevee exclaimed.

Eevee used Swift!

Bubbles used Aurora Beam!

Jolt used Discharge!

Flare used Fire Fang!

Wisp used Future Sight!

Night used Pursuit!

Leafia used Giga Drain!

Glass used Hyper Beam!

Nymph used Moonblast!

The parchment fainted! The Eeveelutions won!

"Yay! I defeated something!" Eevee was ecstatic.

"Idiot. You defeated a piece of paper!" Night cuffed Eevee in the ear.

"Humph. Meanie!" Eevee rubbed the ear Night cuffed. I chuckled at the sight of Eevee and Night bickering despite the blood pact they had just signed. Then I melted the needle of ice in the fireplace at the side of their inn room. I suddenly noticed there was a scorched spot where the parchment was. It had been completely destroyed and there wasn't a trace of its remains except the dark spot. I grabbed a towel, dipped it in water, and scrubbed the scorched mark off the floor.

I looked at the clock and saw that it was almost 9:30. "Eeveelutions, time for bed! Rest up for the day ahead of you!" After half a hour of chaos when Eeveelutions wrestled for their turn to take a bath and get ready for bed, everyone was asleep.

I noticed that Eevee's blanket was slipping off. I walked next to his bed and tucked him in. Doing so, I noticed a locket on his neck. I opened it to find a picture of our family. I smiled sadly at the picture and looked at the full moon outside the window. I left Eevee sleeping soundly to go sit in front of the window. "When will we return home to you, Mom? Dad?"

My library book is overdue... -_- So sad. I'm starting to realize that my chapters are getting shorter. I hope you guys don't mind. Poor Glass, to be shouldering such a big responsibility at such a young age. What do you guys think is going to happen next? Dun dun dun. (Not like I have a secret plan or anything...X3)
