Back to Atlanta Sequel ch9
Writing this in my Criminal Justice class during free time! Might not get it all done now but I'll get a good start on it. Basically starting where we left off in the last chapter with a little bit of time lapse:
Much to Morgan's relief, the plane touched down not long after his team went crazy with the Harry Potter references. Immediately after entering the airport, Morgan broke away from the rest
"I need to get something from the airport, you guys go ahead, I'll pick up one of the government SUV's from the parking lot myself." Said Morgan.
Thinking that he knew what Morgan was planning to do, Hotch didn't object.
"Alright, don't take too long." Said Hotch as he and the team started walking away.
"I won't" said Morgan before heading in a different direction.
Walking into the first gift shop he saw, Morgan headed straight to the bookshelf and found what he was looking for. He grabbed a copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone off the shelf and went to the register to pay for it.
"Harry Potter, this for your kid?" asked the lady at the register.
"Nope, I've never read it and so my girlfriend and coworkers insisted that I try it." Said Morgan, handing her some cash out of his wallet.
"Well enjoy! Would you like a bag?" asked the lady
"No thanks. Have a nice day." Said Morgan before walking away.
When Morgan walked out of the airport, he found Emily leaning against the hood of a black SUV waiting for him. She was holding the car keys in her hand.
"One car for every pair of agents, remember?" said Emily in greeting.
"I'm sorry Princess." Said Morgan, kissing Emily on the cheek.
"It's alright, what were you doing?" asked Emily. Morgan proudly held up the book for her to see.
"Well finally" said Emily with a smile. Morgan smirked and pulled her closer for a kiss. They broke apart a moment later, Morgan now holding the car keys.
"Let's go" said Morgan, opening the passenger door for her.
"Hey gimme the keys back!" said Emily.
"Gimme never gets. I'm driving." said Morgan.
"You always drive. Let me for a change." Persisted Emily.
"No" said Morgan.
"Why not? Are you suggesting that I can't drive?" asked Emily, crossing her arms over her chest.
"No, I…" began Morgan but Emily interrupted him.
"Because that's what it sounds like" continued Emily.
"Em that's not what I meant at all." Protested Morgan.
"Good, because I'd hate to find out now that you're a sexist ass." Said Emily.
Knowing that this was being blown way out of proportion, but also not wanting to pick a fight with Emily over something as silly as this, Morgan gave in.
"Fine, here" he said, reluctantly handing over the keys.
"Thank you, you know I only wanted to give you more time to read before we get to the station." Said Emily, giving Morgan a kiss on the cheek before moving to the driver's side." Said Emily a little cooly.
"Look Em, I really didn't mean that I think you can't drive because I know that you can but growing up, before he died my dad taught me to never make a women drive herself, especially not on a date. So even though this isn't a date, I didn't want you to have to drive." Said Morgan.
"That's sweet Derek but also a little bit sexist." Said Emily.
"I'm sorry." Said Morgan. Emily leaned over and kissed him.
"It's ok, now read." Said Emily, pointing to the book in Morgan's lap.
"Yes ma'am" said Morgan cheekily, earning a slap on the shoulder from Emily.
When they were about halfway to the precinct, Emily got a text from Hotch.
"Could you look at that Morgan?" asked Emily. But Morgan didn't hear her, he was too engrossed in his book to hear anything.
"Morgan" said Emily again. Still nothing.
"MORGAN" shouted Emily, finally getting Morgan's attention.
"What? Why did you have to yell?" asked Morgan.
"Because you weren't responding." Said Emily, chuckling a little.
"Oh. Sorry." said Morgan sheepishly.
"It's ok, I take it you like the book." Said Emily.
"Yeah, so what's up?" asked Morgan.
"I just got a text from Hotch, could you look at it? It's on the dashboard." asked Emily.
"Yeah sure" said Morgan, grabbing her phone.
"He says that we have to go to dock A and search every ship at Point Reyes National Seashore." Said Derek, sending the coordinates to the car's GPS.
"Alright, keep reading we won't get there for another half an hour at least." Said Emily, but Morgan was way ahead of her, his nose already buried in the book, he didn't even acknowledge that she said anything. Emily shook her head and smiled.
Half an hour later they arrived at the dock, Emily had called ahead and asked them to hold every ship and also to have a tactical team there as well to help them search. Emily unbuckled her seatbelt and stepped out of the car, going around to the trunk to get some bulletproof vests. A minute later she noticed that Morgan still hadn't gotten out of the car. Smirking, Emily walked over to the passenger side and opened the door, when that still didn't get Morgan's attention Emily put on one of the vests and threw the other one onto Morgan's lap, causing him to jump so high he nearly hit the ceiling.
"Time to put the book away babe. We're here." Said Emily.
"Wow that was fast." Said Morgan as he got out of the car, leaving the book inside. He put the vest on and walked with Emily towards the boats.
"I had the local police hold all the boats, not let anyone leave so we could search all of them, we also have a tactical team which should be arriving any minute." Said Emily.
"When did you do all that?" asked Morgan.
"While you were reading, you were practically unresponsive I'm pretty sure that I could've been shot when I was getting the vests out of the trunk and you wouldn't have noticed." Said Emily, chuckling slightly.
"I'm sure that's not true!" insisted Morgan.
"And let's hope we never find out. Anyway I'm glad that you're enjoying the book." Said Emily.
"I am" said Morgan as they approached a police officer and displayed their badges.
"I'm Agent Prentiss and this is Agent Morgan. You should've gotten a call from our supervisor, Agent Hotchner." Said Emily.
"I did, but he didn't tell me why I am holding all these people here and I think that I have a right to know." Said the Officer.
"We are investigating a human trafficking ring, your supervisor called us in."
"He didn't tell us anything about no human trafficking ring." Said the officer.
"Those twelve female bodies you found along the coast? We suspect that they were victims of human trafficking and that they came here by boat from Nigeria and the Ukraine, call your supervisor if you have any questions." Said Morgan.
"I will" said the officer, moving away and pulling out his radio.
"Well he's just a ray of sunshine this morning." Said Emily sarcastically.
"Yeah, you wanna start over here?" asked Morgan, pointing to a place where a bunch of smaller boats were docked.
"Yeah sure" said Emily.
They worked quickly, by the time they were done with the first boat the tactical team was here.
"Start searching the larger boats down at the other end, we will meet somewhere in the middle." Said Morgan, they nodded and moved off. When they were done with their third the officer came back.
"My supervisor informed me that he told the FBI about the mass grave but did not invite you guys to come investigate." Said the officer.
"Cases like these, we don't need an invitation because the girls were abducted from out of the country and brought here." Said Emily. The officer didn't respond, just turned tail and walked away.
"It doesn't look like we will be getting much cooperation from the police." Said Emily.
"Nope, none at all" replied Morgan before they continued their search.
Still in Criminal Justice (it's a double block so I'm usually here for a little more than 3 hours.) I leave in like ten minutes though, I'm glad I got this done! I hope you guys enjoyed it! And even if you didn't, please leave a review!
I love you guys!
