Dave and Sebastian's impromptu date had turned out to be a major success, though neither of them were surprised. Conversation had flowed so easily during lunch, and picking a movie both of then would enjoy was a breeze. Sebastian suggested an action flick, while Dave said horror; both agreed to no romantic comedies. Lucky for them, the highly anticipated action-packed zombie movie 'When The Dead Rise' had just been released in theaters only days before. Sebastian had sat on the edge of his seat the entire movie, chuckling every time Dave would jump when a zombie would pop up out of no where; who would have thought that someone who loved horror movies so much would be so jumpy?
The boys left the theater with bright smiles on their faces, faltering slightly when they realized that they would each have to go to their respected homes for dinner. Dave, trying to be a gentleman for his date - a thought that made his heart race - held the passenger door to his truck open for Sebastian, his cheeks tinted with pink and grumbled as he got in, "You know you don't have to do that."
Beaming, Dave walked around the vehicle and got in, buckling his seat belt. "I'll keep doing it if it'll make you blush like that." He was punched in the shoulder before Sebastian jokingly crossed his arms over his chest and put on an exaggerated pout. They both laughed it off as Dave drove to the Hudmel's home.
Sebastian had to once again resist the urge to take Dave's hand as the football player drove, who had let it lay so close to his leg on the arm rest that he could feel Dave's body heat. He was surprised with himself; Sebastian had never wanted to be so touchy-feely with someone, and he was surprised that Dave was still interested after the Scandals incident. 'What if he only agreed to go out with me today because he felt sorry for me? There's no way he'd actually still like me, considering how horrible I-'
"Stop that, Seb." Dave gave him a stern look out of the corner of his eye, feeling the tension rolling off of Sebastian's body, "I don't know what you've got on your mind but it shouldn't matter right now, if it's gonna make you unhappy." He took a deep breath and refocused his full attention to the road, "Just relax for a bit, stop worrying so much. We had a really awesome day, and I want you to enjoy this as much as I am..."
Deciding to not bring down Dave's mood, Sebastian nodded. "Yeah, you're right." He gazed out the window as they pulled onto his street, "Today was a lot of fun, Dave. I...I really enjoyed it. We really have to do this again." He looked over to Dave with a hopeful expression on his face. A smile appeared on Dave's face again as he pulled into the driveway, put his truck in park, and hopped out. Sebastian opened his door, laughing, "Dave, what on earth are you doing?"
"Walking you to the door, duh." Dave waited patiently while Sebastian climbed out of the vehicle and adjusting his shirt self-consciously. His heart started to race as he realized that this was the first real date he had ever been on. The dates with Santana didn't count; they were each others' beards, so they weren't technically dates. Dave liked to think of them as fake dates; the experience of being on a date, but it doesn't mean anything because you're not with someone special. 'When did I get so fucking sentimental? Oh, wait...Sebastian. Right.'
They walked to the door together, shoulders only inches apart; they shared the same nervous feeling. This was really happening. Was Dave supposed to kiss Sebastian? Or would Sebastian make the first move? Was it even right to kiss after a date that wasn't really even supposed to be a date? Their speechless questions were answered when they reached the front door and it immediately opened, a stern looking Burt staring expectantly at them. "Hey, kids. Have fun?"
'Shit, come on, Burt. WHY?' Sebastian's face flushed. "Yeah. We, uh, saw a movie after lunch." So much for a possible almost goodnight kiss.
"Good. I mean, um..." Burt hesitated a moment, "Rules of the house, kiddo. Let me know when your plans change, alright? We were getting worried." He glared slightly at Dave; there was nothing wrong with the boy, but Burt still had some hard feelings towards him after the Kurt situation. "I don't mind you going out and stuff, but just let me know, okay?"
Both boys nodded to show they understood, but Burt didn't move an inch. Dave was starting to sweat. 'This isn't so bad. He's just looking after Seb. Everything's fine.' He turned to Sebastian and, instead of a kiss, he took hold of his hand. "I'll let you know when I make it home." He smiled politely at Burt before letting go of Sebastian's hand, then walked back to his car.
Still nervous, Sebastian waved goodbye to Dave before following Burt into the house. He hated to admit it, but this gave him a good feeling. Sure, Burt wasn't his father. But he sure as hell was acting like it. Maybe, if he could figure out what his dad had meant about his mom, things would be okay here. Possibly. If Burt didn't shoot Dave first.
Sebastian smiled as he thought about how Dave's hand had felt around his own. 'Yeah, things are going to be okay.'
