Chapter Nine: White Out

We had finally tracked her down. With her we hoped to find the Colt. Our most important weapon that which she stole from us. Anger alone should have been enough, but it never is. Through contacts and word of mouth we had finally found where Bela was. Even if it was just for the time being. Hoping we weren't too late. I was eager to see the look on her face when we finally caught up with her.

"Don't look so excited." Dean told me with a smirk as we parked the Impala.

"Oh, come on. She's got the Colt. She's been nothing but a thorn in my side. Let me be excited about this." I smiled back at him.

"Let her have her fun, Dean." Sam said putting an arm across my shoulders as we walked toward the door.

I laughed before going serious when we went through. We already had her room number and we were moving swiftly through the halls. I was taking up the rear, staying a few paces back to make sure no one was following us or lurking.

We made it to the door just fine, Dean kicking it in. We filed through the door to see the place deserted. After searching, the colt wasn't there. We had barely been in the room a few minutes when the phone rang. Dean answered it. I heard a small noise in the hall. I slipped out of the room, my gun raised. Dean's voice faded as I made my way from the room. Before I could place anything, officers were in front of me and I was grabbed. They forced me to the ground. I barely had time to call out when I heard the boys get taken as well. I was handcuffed and pulled to my feet just as Agent Henriksen walked by.

"Henriksen…" I said, shocked.

He glanced at me before he stopped mid-step. He frowned and looked at me. "Evy Connors?" He asked. I just looked at him. "You're supposed to be dead." He frowned.

"Don't do this." I told him.

He stepped up to me. "How the hell are you alive?" He asked, his frown deepening.

"It's a long story." I told him.

"So you admit to being dead?" He asked.

"What do you want me to say?" I replied.

"Why did you fake your own death?" He countered.

"I didn't." I told him.

He just frowned at me. "Take her to the car." He told the men holding me.

"You don't want to do this!" I called after him as I was dragged away from the room. "Victor!"

I hated cops. I hated cop cars. I hated the fact that they were ignorant to what we were trying to do. They never listened and this was the second time around for my boys. This was the first time I had met Henriksen but he seemed to know everything about me. I already knew he knew the boys. But he didn't know what he was doing. He was going to ruin this. If we ended up being locked away then we would be stuck and the world open to the evil that lived in it.

They shoved me into the back of the car. I tried to talk myself out of this but I knew it was pointless. They weren't going to listen to me. Soon I saw the boys and they were pushed into the back seat of another car. Dean looked over at me, worry written across his face. I gave him a small reassuring smile. He returned it but the worry lines never relaxed. We were on the move then. Going to the local sheriff's office. I watched as the boys were taken in first. I called out to them but there was nothing I could do.

Then it was my turn. I didn't fight against them but I wasn't too eager to make it the simplest job in the world. They needed to know what was going on. There were things that would follow us here. Things that they couldn't fight on their own. Things that we alone could defend them from, but we never could do with handcuffs binding us and bars holding us. This wasn't the way it was supposed to be. We so often were clear of the law and the run-ins we had were anything but fun. Henriksen was serious about getting the boys. I'd be just as desirable now that he knew I was alive. I was always with the Winchester's. There was no separate category for me and there was no way of making him understand without telling him the craziest thing he would ever hear. Even though every word would be true.

"What are you doing?" I asked as they sat me in a chair, linking me to the table. "Put me with the guys." I told them.

"No." Henriksen said with raised brows.

"I wanna be with them. Please." I told him sadly.

"I don't think so. The boys don't get to be with the girls." He replied.

"Please, Henriksen, you don't understand what's going on here." I told him.

"Then please enlighten me." He frowned crossing his arms. "First, you can tell me how you're alive. I checked up on your death. Even went to the morgue you were taken to, making sure it was legit. And it was."

"Yes, it was." I frowned at him.

"There were rumors of you being seen but I knew better. Or so I thought." He told me.

"I was dead, yes, but now I'm not. What exactly do you want me to say?" I shot at him.

"How is it possible?" He asked.

"You won't like that answer and you wouldn't believe me."

"Try me." He said hovering over me. I didn't say anything. "That's what I thought." He said and walked away.

The officers were whispering and moving around. The receptionist, Nancy, sat looking very nervous in her chair. I sighed and leaned back. Trying to listen for the boys, I couldn't. Their voices wouldn't carry this far. Henriksen moved in and out of the rooms. I didn't know what he was doing but it wasn't looking good for any of us. I sat there, humming to myself. My eyes searched the room, trying to find anything that I could use to free myself. But, after all, this was a police station and there wasn't a lot to work with. Running my fingers through my hair, I leaned back, hoping the boys were having more luck, when the doors opened and another FBI agent came through.

"Steven." Victor smiled, holding out his hand. I stood and tried to see what was happening. Steven put a file of papers in Victor's hand. "What's all this?"

"What can I say? The FBI didn't invent bureaucracy, we perfected it." Steven told him.

I couldn't help but smile. He was getting his comeuppance.

"You want me to do all this now?" He asked his superior.

"Sorry. Now, Victor. I'm gonna go take a good long gander at our fugitives." Steven told him and walked away.

"Sucks to be you." I smiled at him. Making myself comfortable in the chair. He glared at me. "Oh, don't. You'll see in time that you are wrong."

"Shut up." He shot at me.

I winked at him and watched as he started the thick amount of paperwork in front of him. I was still basking in the glow of his lack of authority, when there was yelling from the other room. I knew what it meant.

"Dean…?" I said aloud, my stomach dropping.

"What the hell was that?" Victor said and rushed into the other room.

"Help them!" I yelled after him.

Unable to stand, I just sat and waited. There were raised voices but I didn't know what was happening. I could only hear Henriksen.

"Nancy, please, can you go see what's happening?" I pleaded with her. She just looked at me. "Please."

There were more muffled voices and soon everyone came back in.

"What is going on out there?" Victor asked me. "Who's coming to break you out?"

"What happened?" I countered.

Sheriff Dodd looked like he was freaking out. Amici as well. Henriksen was calm but he wasn't going to give in easily.

"Steven's dead. The chopper is blown to pieces. Reidy is more than likely dead." He told me.

"Hello?" I heard Nancy say into the phone.

"My men. Agent Henriksen?" Dodd said starting to break.

"What's happening?" Amici asked.

"I can't get a line. All the phones are out." Nancy said quickly.

"Henriksen! Four of my men." Dodd yelled at him.

"The internet, I— my cell. It's all dead. How can it all be dead?" Nancy said looking at Victor.

"Evy!" Victor said looking at me.

"They're not here to get us out. We're all in a lot of trouble." I told him.

"Who are they?" Victor asked putting his hands on the arms of my chair. I just looked at him. "Don't even say it." I nodded at him. "You've got to be kidding me. Demon's don't exist!" He shot at me.

"Believe what you want. But they're here and they're here for all of us." I told him.

The officers moved through the station. Coming back with shotguns, loading them in preparation.

"That's not going to help." I told them. I had become the shadow in the background. No one was listening to me. "Listen! Those aren't going to do anything. Henriksen, un-cuff me." He glared at me. Then the lights went out. I looked around, feeling my senses sharpen, readying for the demon attack. "So it begins."

"Oh, my God." Nancy said starting to freak out.

"Nancy, it's gonna be okay." I told her.

"Shut up." Victor shot at me.

"No, no. It's okay. It's okay. We're gonna go. We're gonna go right now. Let's go." Dodd said as he started to rush around.

"Nobody's going anywhere. Everybody calm down." Victor told him.

"Your partner is out there. My men are -" Dodd started.

"I know. We go out there, we're asking to die too. Don't you get it?"

"What?"

"They're out there and they're coming in here. This is a siege. So this might be a good time for you to lock the doors and windows, take a breath, and deal with this like trained professionals with some sense in their heads." Victor shot at him.

"Victor…" I said getting his attention. "Please, listen to me. You're right. Going outside is out of the question. But you can't fight them. You can't win this without my help. Without the Winchester's help."

"I thought I told you to shut up."

He wasn't going to listen to me. We were crazy in his eyes. Murderers and grave robbers. The officers did as they were told. Nancy seemed to be stuck in place. Unable to wrap her head around what was happening. I felt useless. They didn't know what was going on. I did. The boys did. It was just a matter of time before they came in for us. The truth would be right in front of them. They would have to face it eventually.

When they thought they were ready, they sat around the office. Everyone was quiet. Victor came and sat on a desk near me.

"Now's as good a time as any to tell me how you're alive." He told me crossing his arms.

"You want the truth and nothing but?" I asked him. He just looked at me. "Fine." I said and just looked at him a moment. "But you can't interrupt me in any way." He nodded. "I was killed in that car accident. I died and went to heaven. It's a pretty interesting place. I'll tell you about it some time. If we don't die tonight that is." I told him and paused. "Anyway, I was ripped out of heaven. Brought back to my body. I woke up in my coffin, forced to dig my way out of it." A frown creased his face. "I had no memory of who I was. It was night. Vampires were attacking me. I was saved by this guy who I thought was there to help me. Turns out it was Riley Newberry. You should look him up. I'd let you have your way with him." I told him and paused. "Anyway, he had made a deal with a crossroads demon. To bring me back but to not remember. He gave me a fake name and we traveled for a couple months before we ran into the Winchester's. I didn't know them. I didn't know Dean." I told him and frowned. No matter how much time had gone by it still hurt. "But I started to remember and then it all came flooding back. I remembered who I was. But more than that I remembered what happened. I remembered where I had been, how I had left, how I had returned…everything. And not we're in the fight for our lives again. It never ends." I finished. "So, yeah, I'm alive again." I said looking at him.

"A crossroads demon?" He asked. "Back to the demons."

"Then how would you explain it?" I asked him. "You said it was legit. How would I fake my own death when you looked into it."

"I don't know anymore." Victor told me.

"I'm right and you're going to have to face it sooner or later." I stated. There was silence and my eyes moved across the room. "Victor…" I frowned. "Where's Dodd?"

He stood and looked around. He moved away from me. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair.

"Here…" Nancy said handing me a glass of water.

"Thank you." I smiled at her.

"I heard what you said to Agent Henriksen." She told me.

"And do you believe me?" I asked her. She didn't say anything but walked away. I sighed again and leaned back. "Dean, how the hell are we gonna get out of this one?" I asked aloud. Then Henriksen walked through the room towards the cells. "Victor." I said but he didn't even look at me.

It didn't take long for the noises to be heard in the other room. There was a gun shot and yelling. I tried to stand but there was no way with my wrist shackled to the desk. I tried to pull myself free as Sam's voice drifted into the room. He was exorcising someone.

"Come on!" I yelled as I tried to pull the cuff free. I stopped only when the blood started to trickle from my wrist. "Dean!" I yelled as worry set in. It got quiet. Then Dean appeared with keys in his hands. "Dean."

"He believes us now." Dean told me.

"What happened?" I asked.

"He was possessed."

"And you exorcised him?"

"Sam did."

The cuffs fell and I took his face in my hands. "Are you okay?" I asked him sternly.

He did the same, pulling my face to his, kissing me deeply. "I am now."

I smiled at him before noticing a gunshot wound in his shoulder. "Dean…" I said starting to pull his jacket off.

"It's fine." He told me nonchalantly.

Frowning at him I looked at the wound.

"I'll get the first aid kit." Nancy told me.

"Thank you." I smiled at her. "Sit." I told my man coolly.

"It's through and through. I'll be okay." Dean told me.

"Stop and sit down." I told him. "How did this happen?"

"Groves." He replied.

I nodded. "I figured something had happened. Being kept away from you isn't as easy as it sounds."

"Likewise." He said gently rubbing my back.

"I love you." I whispered in his ear.

"Love you too." He said and kissed me gently, momentarily leaving his forehead against mine.

He looked at me and nodded. I nodded back. We still had work to do. Still had God knows how many bastards to fight. As I patched Dean, Amici and Henriksen came in with several shotguns, loading them.

"Well, that's nice. It's not gonna do much good." Dean told them.

"I already told them that." I told him under my breath.

"We got an arsenal here." Amici told him.

"You don't poke a bear with a BB gun. It's just gonna make him mad." Dean replied.

"And this is why you do the talking." I winked at him.

"What do you need?" Victor asked.

"Salt. Lots and lots of salt."

"Salt?" Amici said unbelievingly.

"Is there an echo in here?" Dean asked.

"Dean." I whispered, meeting his eyes for a moment.

"There's road salt in the storeroom." Nancy told us.

"Perfect. Perfect. We need salt at every window and every door." Dean told them. The men left, going to do what Dean told them to.

"Thank you." I smiled at her. She smiled back, watching us.

"How you holding up, Nancy?" Dean asked.

"Okay. When I was little, I would come home from church and talk about the devil. My parents would tell me to stop being so literal. I guess I showed them, huh?" She said and smiled.

"You sure did, sweetie." I told her gently.

She smiled as Amici came back into the room with bags of road salt.

"Fantastic." I said going to him, grabbing a bag.

"Hey, where's my car?" Dean asked.

"Impound lot out back." Amici told him.

"Okay." Dean replied.

"Be careful." I told him.

"Wait. You're not going out there?" Amici said looking at him.

"Yeah, I gotta get something out of my trunk."

"I'm giving you five minutes and then I'm coming after you." I told him grabbing his shirt.

"Got it." He winked and kissed me before he left the room.

I turned back to the salt, grabbing a bag as I went to go to every window and door. Amici followed me. He was quiet while we lined the windows. When we started the doors there was something that he clearly wanted to say.

"Something bothering you?" I asked him.

"How did you get wrapped up in this?" He countered.

"It's a long story." I told him.

"It looks like we've got the time." He replied.

"Funny. But no. We have other things we need to be worrying about." I told him.

"Was it Dean?" He asked. "I find it hard to believe that a girl like you gets stuck with a guy like him."

"I'm sorry?" I said looking at him.

"You're a nice girl. He's a bad guy." He told me.

"Okay, Officer Amici, you know shit about me and you know shit about Dean." I told him coldly. "I don't appreciate you jumping to conclusions when you have no idea what's going on."

"I'm sorry." He told me.

"You should be." I told him. "Because when it comes down to it, we're the ones saving your ass."

Walking away I finished the doors and returned to the main room.

"You okay?" Sam asked.

"Yeah, just stupid men thinking they know things." I replied.

Sam looked behind him as Amici came in. "Do I need to beat him up or something?" Sam smiled at me.

I laughed. "No." I smiled up at him. "If I wanted that I would have done it myself."

"Good point." He smiled and nudged me.

I grinned at him and looked at the clock. I wasn't going to give Dean much longer. Just when I was about to go get him his voice rang through the building.

"They're coming! Hurry!"

"And so it starts." I said looking up at Sam.

Dean appeared in the room just as the building started to shake. The demons had reached it and were searching for a way in. Moving across the building. When it finally stopped even I felt a twinge of fear.

"Everybody okay?" Sam asked.

"Define "okay"." Victor replied.

"Right, everybody needs to put these on. It'll keep you from being possessed." Dean said as he handed out amulets.

"What about you guys?" Nancy asked.

Pulling down our shirts we showed them our tattoos. A pentagram with a sun pattern encircling it.

"Smart. How long have you had those?" Victor asked.

"Not long enough." Sam told him.

I let out a short laugh. It had happened and if we could stop it from happening again it was all we wanted. And now the waiting game had begun. We didn't know how many were out there and we didn't know how we were going to get out.

"Do we have a plan?" I asked Dean as we walked through the station, checking our defenses.

"Not exactly." He replied.

"Yeah, that's what I thought." I said gently. "How many do you think were out there?" I asked.

"I have no idea. More than we've ever seen."

"Will you think me weak if I actually say I'm afraid?" I said softly.

He pulled me into him, kissing my hair. "Of course not." He said and kissed me gently.

It was hard to see past what was happening right now. But I tried anyway. Tried to picture a life when it was just me and him. A small house, a fenced in yard, children and dogs running around…but it was never meant to be. This was the way are life was to be for the rest of our lives. The rest of Dean's life. I couldn't help the silent tears that fell from my eyes as I held my fiancé. But there wasn't time for tears. No time for dwelling. As much as I wanted to. The demons were still outside and we would have to deal with them for everyone's sake.

Sitting with Dean and Henriksen in Dodd's office we loaded the guns with rock salt. Readying ourselves as best we could.

"Shotgun shells full of salt." Victor said as he loaded his gun.

"Whatever works." Dean replied.

"Fighting off monsters with condiments. So, turns out demons are real."

"FYI, ghosts are real too. So are werewolves, vampires, changelings, evil clowns that eat people." Dean told him.

"Okay, then." Victor told him.

"It's a lot to take in." I added.

"If it makes you feel better, Bigfoot's a hoax." Dean added with his humorous tone.

"It doesn't." He told Dean. "And yes it is." He said looking at me. "How many demons?"

Looking at Dean, I stood and left the room. The serious, depressing talk was going to set in. We had just done this. I didn't need to hear it all over again.

"How we doing?" I asked Sam.

"Well, they're out there." He replied.

Looking out the window, the town's people were standing there, eyes as black as ebony. I sighed, turning back to Sam.

"That's a lot of demons out there." I stated.

"We can handle it."

"Something's going on with you, Sam." I told him as gently as I could.

"I'm fine."

"Are you?" I asked. "I've been meaning to ask about Ruby. Dean's met her once. I've met her before. You seem to talk to her quite a bit. Can't deny that I'm a little worried about you."

"You don't need to worry."

"Don't I?"

"No, you don't." He told me. "I know what I'm doing."

"Do you?"

"Enough, Evy. We have other problems to worry about."

"This is true. But since we're not getting out any time soon, it looks like we've got the time to talk about this now."

He didn't get a chance to answer. There was the sound of breaking glass. Something got in. Sam rushed ahead of me.

"Ruby." I said as I caught up with them.

"She's a demon." Victor stated.

"She's here to help us." Sam told him.

"Sam." I said looking at him. He met my eyes for only a second.

"Are you gonna let me out?" Ruby asked.

Sam bent down and scrapped a hole in the trap to release her.

"And they say chivalry's dead. Does anyone have a breath mint? Some guts splattered in my mouth while I was killing my way in here." She said and walked out of the room.

I lingered in the room. Dean stayed with me as Sam and the others followed Ruby out into the main room.

"Dean…" I said, shaking my head was enough for him to know.

"I know." He said starting to pace.

"What are we gonna do?" I asked as I re-salted the window.

"Whatever we can." He replied and took my hand as we went to join the others. "How many are out there?" He asked Ruby.

"Thirty at least. That's so far."

"Thirty?" I repeated and looked at Dean.

"Oh, good. Thirty. Thirty hit men all gunning for us. Who sent them?"

Ruby looked at Sam. Something fell in my stomach. "You didn't tell Dean? Wow. I'm surprised."

"What is she talking about, Sam?" I frowned at him.

"Tell me what?"

"There's a big new up-and-comer. A real pied piper." Ruby told him.

"Who is he?" Dean asked.

"Not he. Her." Ruby corrected. "Her name is Lilith."

"Lilith?" Dean repeated.

"And she really, really wants Sam's intestines on a stick. Guess she sees him as competition." Ruby told him.

I couldn't help but stare at Sam. He knew about this. He knew and he didn't tell either of us. I knew something was off. Something just didn't feel right and now it was slowly leaking out. He was keeping things. What else was he keeping?

"You knew about this?" He asked Sam. Sam didn't say anything. "Well, jeez, Sam. Is there anything else I should know?"

"How about you two talk about this later? We'll need the Colt." Ruby told us. I rolled my eyes and watched Dean and Sam exchange a glance of a thousand words. "Where's the Colt?" Ruby asked, picking up on it right away.

"It got stolen." Sam told her.

"I'm sorry, I must have blood in my ear. I thought I just heard you say you were stupid enough to let the Colt get grabbed out of your thick, clumsy, idiotic hands." She said averting her eyes for a moment. "Fantastic. This is just peachy." Ruby told us angrily.

"Ruby-" Sam started.

"Shut up. Fine." Ruby said starting to pace. "Since I don't see that there's any other option there's on other way I know how to get you out of here alive."

"What's that?" Dean asked.

"I know a spell. It'll vaporize every demon in a one-mile radius. Myself included." She said making sure we heard her. "So you let the Colt out of your sight and now I have to die. So next time, be more careful. How's that for a dying wish?"

It was something. It was a way to get out of this. I was already thinking it was worth it. Two birds, one stone. Not only would the demons be gone but with them Ruby too.

"Okay. What do we need to do?" Dean asked.

"Aw. You can't do anything. This spell is very specific. It calls for a person of virtue." Ruby told him.

"I got virtue." Dean told him.

I couldn't help but laugh. "Baby, I'm sorry." I smiled at him. "Me?" I asked Ruby.

"Ha, ha. Nice try. Both of you." She said. "But neither of you are a virgin."

Dean chuckled. "No one's a virgin."

Ruby looked at Nancy. All of our eyes followed hers. We all fell on the sweet looking girl.

"You've got to be kidding me." I stared at Nancy.

"No. No way. You're kidding me right. You're-" Dean said doing the same.

"What? It's a choice, okay?" Nancy shot at him.

"What, so you-? You never-? Not even once? I mean, not even…? Wow."

"Enough, Dean." I told him.

"So the spell. What can I do?" Nancy asked Ruby.

"You can hold still…while I cut your heart out of your chest." Ruby told her.

"What?" Nancy asked, shocked.

"No, fucking way." I told her.

"Are you crazy?" Dean shot at her.

"I'm offering a solution." Ruby replied.

"You're offering to kill somebody." Dean replied.

"You don't honestly think we'd agree to this, do you?" I frowned at her.

"And what do you think's gonna happen when the demons get in?" Ruby asked.

"We're gonna protect her, that's what." Victor told her.

"Very noble." Ruby told him. "You're all gonna die. Look, this is the only way."

"Yeah, there's no way that you're gonna prove-" Dean started.

"Will everybody please shut up!" Nancy said getting all of our attention. "All the people out there…will it save them?"

"It'll blow the demons out of their bodies. So if their bodies are okay, yeah." Ruby told her.

We were all quiet for a moment. The spell sounded like our best bet. But I wasn't about to sacrifice a young woman to save our own skins.

"I'll do it." Nancy told us.

"No, Nancy." I told her shaking her head.

"No. No. You don't need to do this." Dean told her.

"All my friends are out there." Nancy stated.

"We don't sacrifice people. We do that, we're no better than them." Victor told us.

"We don't have a choice." Ruby told us.

"Yeah, well, your choice is not an option." Dean told her.

"Sam. You know I'm right." Ruby said turning to the silent brother.

"Sam?" Dean said to his brother. Sam remained silent. "What the hell is going on? Sam, tell her."

"It's my decision." Nancy told us.

"Damn straight, cherry pie." Ruby told her.

"No, it isn't." I frowned at her.

"Stop. Stop. Nobody kill any virgins. Sam, I need to talk to you." Dean said and walked out into the hall.

"Nancy, you can't be serious." I said softly, stepping up to her.

"If I can help-"

"No." I frowned, shaking my head. "Just…no."

"I can make this decision for myself." Nancy tried again.

"It's a choice. Just like everything else in your life." I told her, gently touching the cross around her neck. "But this is serious. You'd die."

"I know."

"Do you?" I frowned at her. "Do you realize what you'd be doing?"

"Yes."

"Even if that's true, we're not going to let you do this." I told her.

She just looked at me and nodded. Sam came in and walked past us. Dean just looked at me before leaving the room again. I frowned and followed him.

"What's going on?" I asked him.

"We have a plan." He told me.

"Which is?" I asked.

"Sam's recording an exorcism. We're gonna let everyone in. Trap them and exorcize them."

"Dean…" I said not knowing what else to say.

"It'll work. We've done it before."

"Yeah, I remember." I told him.

He pulled me against him. We spent a small moment together before going back with the others.

"Get the equipment to work?" Dean asked his brother.

"Yeah."

"So?"

"So this is insane." Sam told him.

"You win the understatement of the year." Ruby told him.

"We've done it before." I told them.

"That was luck." Sam told me.

"Look, I get it. You think-" Dean started.

"I don't think. I know. It's not gonna work. So long, boys." Ruby said making her way to the door.

"So you're just gonna leave?" Sam asked, almost sounding hurt.

"Hey. I was gonna kill myself to help you win. I'm not gonna stand here and watch you lose." She told him. "And I'm disappointed. Because I tried. I really did. But clearly, I bet on the wrong horse. Do you mind letting me out?"

Sam let her out before resealing the door. We all looked at each other. The plan was in motion. It was a good plan but it was risky. If it took too long. If there was a glitch it would all be over before we could do anything else. I watched as Nancy and Amici left, hiding on the roof until everyone was inside. With that done it was time for us to take our places at the entrances.

"I'll stay with Victor." I told Dean.

"Be careful." Dean said grabbing my arm.

"You too." I said and kissed him quickly. "Now go."

He nodded and kissed me once more before walking away without looking back. I watched him go before grabbing Henriksen and going to our post. We moved the salt from the door and scratched a hole in the traps. It would only be a matter of time before they tried to get in, realizing that they could.

On the outside Nancy and the deputy were to seal the doors again from the outside, putting salt along the edges. We stood with guns at the ready. Waiting for them to come. We didn't have to wait long. The demons came in swinging. I was hit hard as they pushed past us. Henriksen forced the demon off of me and we were once again on the defensive. With rock salt as our only weapon it was difficult to see a happy ending. I was grabbed and thrown, hands finding my throat. I managed to knee him in the groin, making him drop me. I punched him hard enough to send him to the ground. I pulled another off of Victor as I shot another in the chest. We retreated into the main room, bringing them deeper in so they wouldn't get out before we could seal the doors. Henriksen proved to be a good fighter. Between the two of us we held our own. Though we were separated as the demons swamped the station. Soon there was more screaming and yelling as Sam and Dean's group of demons started to flow through the building. I heard Dean yell and soon the fire system turned on and water started to flow from the spouts. The demons screamed as the water hit their bodies. Then the loudspeakers came to life with a recorded exorcism. The demons raced to the exits only there was no escape for them. The doors wouldn't open and they were stuck inside. Soon the screaming intensified and the next thing we knew black smoke was rising up, covering the ceiling before it disappeared through the floor. The demons on their way back to Hell. All the possessed wandered around wondering what had happened. I nodded at Henriksen before turning to find Dean and Sam. I didn't have to look. Both were already on their way over to me.

"Nice plan, baby." I smiled at Dean.

"Thank you." He smiled back. "You don't look too bad." Dean said eyeing me up and down.

I smiled and put my arm around him, shaking my head. It was done. Everyone was safe and we managed to get through it without needing to sacrifice anyone. The lights turned back on and everyone who was possessed started to stir. They started to disperse and we started to pack up.

"I better call this in. Hell of a story I won't be telling." Victor told us.

"What are you gonna tell them?" I asked him.

"The least ridiculous lie I can come up with in the next five minutes." He replied.

"Good luck with that. Not to pressure you or anything but what are you planning to do about us?" Dean asked him.

"I'm gonna kill you. Sam and Dean Winchester were in the chopper when it caught on fire. There was nothing left. Can't even identify them with dental records. Rest in peace, guys." He said shaking both their hands. "And you're already dead." He said looking at me. "So, there's not much to add there." I smiled and nodded at him. "Now get out of here." He smiled at us.

"Yeah." Sam nodded.

The boys turned to leave but I lingered in front of Victor. I just looked at him and nodded. He just smiled. "Thank you." I told him.

"Don't mention it." He smiled.

"If you need anything, just call." I said and hugged him. "You're a decent guy."

"I know. Now go."

I nodded and waved to Nancy and Amici before going after my boys. Dean smiled and winked at me as we got into the Impala. I brought my knees up, leaning them against the dashboard. Looking at Dean he put his hand out toward me. I smiled and took it, resting it in my lap as I ran my fingers back and forth on top of it. I could hear his contented sigh as he drove us back to the motel.

"You know, I could use a shower." I said softly to Dean when we walked through the door.

Dean raised a brow at me before a smile moved across his face. I just laughed and pulled him with me toward the bathroom. Sam just rolled his eyes and started to wind down from the fight. I shut the door behind me and Dean, eager to have a piece of my fiancé.

Dean quickly pulled his clothes off as I did the same. He turned on the water till it was cool before lifting me underneath it. It was almost too cool against my skin but as Dean moved against me with his lips against my skin, we made enough heat that the water started to feel wonderful. And there are very few things that are better than sex in the shower…

Once we returned to the main room, it was time to clean everything up from the days events. We were cleaning the weapons, preparing to move on, when there was a knock on the door. Sam opened it and Ruby walked in. I frowned at her.

"Turn on the news." She told us.

I frowned harder as the TV was turned on. Breaking News was playing. A pit fell in my stomach as we listened.

"The community is still reeling from the tragedy that happened just a few hours ago. Authorities believe a gas main ruptured, causing the massive explosion that ripped apart the police station and claimed the lives of everyone inside. Among the deceased, at least six police officers and staff including Sheriff Melvin Dodd, Deputy Phil Amici, and secretary Nancy Fitzgerald as well as three FBI agents identified as Steven Groves, Calvin Reidy and Victor Henriksen. Two fugitives in custody were also killed. We'll continue to follow the story here at the scene, but for now, back to you, Jim."

Ruby shut the TV off and turned to us. I didn't know how to react to this. Everyone…gone. I felt pressure on my chest as I looked at Dean.

"Must've happened right after we left." Sam stated.

"Considering the size of the blast…smart money's on Lilith." Ruby told us.

"But…" I said shaking my head as I looked at Dean.

"Here…" Ruby said tossing each of us a small leather pouch.

"What's in these?" Dean asked.

"Something that'll protect you. Throw Lilith off your trail. For the time being, at least." Ruby told us.

"Thanks." Sam told her.

"Don't thank me. Lilith killed everyone. She slaughtered your precious little virgin plus a half a dozen other people." She told us coldly. "So after your big speech about humanity and war turns out your plan was the one with the body count. Do you know how to fight a battle? You strike fast and you don't leave any survivors so no one can go running to tell the boss. So, next time, we go with my plan." She said and left.

I took a deep breath, sighing as I looked at my hands. "This sucks."

"I know." Dean said and kissed my hair.

I had never felt so guilty. Everyone we had fought so hard to protect were now gone. It was a never ending circle. It would never end. No matter what we did, death seemed to follow.
