Continuing from the last chapter, Jenny is now a human being (isn't that crazy or what?!) and she begins to learn about the world around her in a new light from Sheldon. Will something blossom between them? How will Jenny like life as a human? And will Jenny and Brad remain friends while she is a human? READ MORE TO FIND OUT! "It's so bright out here" Jenny thought as she gazed at the new world around her. She rubbed her eyes so that her vision could adjust from the brightness of the fluorescent lights. When her eyes adjusted to the lights, Jenny saw that tears had trailed from Sheldon's eyes down to the sides of his face.
"Aww! He was crying over me? Oh wow," she thought to herself.
"Jenny, I can't believe it... that you're-"
"Alive!" Jenny exclaimed. The thumping in her chest shocked and scared herself. She found where her heart was located. "Is this...a heartbeat?"
Sheldon chuckled and nodded his head in response, "Yes". He held back for a moment, but he summoned up some courage.
"Jenny, may I check your heartbeat?" he asked nervously.
"Um, sure," she replied. Sheldon hesitated for a second, but he took out his stethoscope and he put it on himself. Sheldon held the end of the stethoscope, but he was too nervous to ask her to lift her shirt for a proper heartbeat measurement. She noticed this and Jenny non-verbally guided his hand underneath her shirt, placing the bell of the stethoscope on her heart. Sheldon felt Jenny's heartbeat increase and they both looked at each, their gaze unshaken. Subconsciously, they blushed and goosebumps lined their arms.
"What on Earth? XJ-9!" a voice called out. Sheldon and Jenny jumped back and reserved themselves. They turned to see Nora, who dropped her briefcase on the ground out of shock. "...You're alive. But-but how?"
"I'll be honest, I'm not even sure how this happened, Dr. Wakeman. We thought she was a goner," Sheldon explained. Jenny rose up from the table slowly and she planted her feet onto the ground. Her first steps were wobbly, but she was able to make it to Nora, and she pulled her in for a hug.
"Hi Mom!" Jenny said, her eyes watering. She could finally smell the rose-infused perfume her mother always talked about wearing. Jenny also felt the way her mother's hair spiked out in multiple directions with her hands. "So, this is what a real hug feels like".
Nora laughed and looked at Jenny with adoration. The door burst open as Brad and Tucker ran through the door, making Nora and Jenny break apart from their embrace.
"Jenny, you're...different," Tucker said, his shoulders slumping. Brad stood in disbelief as Tucker stood by his side. One of his fists balled up as he tried to utter a statement.
"Jenny? Is that really you?" Brad called out, feeling his shoulders tense up. Jenny smiled at him and she gave him a hug. He awkwardly hugged her back and he felt an unusual warmth from Jenny.
"It's me, Brad. Can you believe it," Jenny said excitedly, "Now I know how it feels like to be human".
"Well yeah, but...it's not the same," Brad said in a cold tone and broke away from Jenny, "You weren't born into it".
"Well duh, of course she wasn't born human; she'll learn-" Tucker began to say, but Brad walked towards him.
"L-learn what? Learn about health and political issues, how society molds us into something that we're not. Why would you bother with something that humans despise? You had it easy" Brad said to Jenny.
"You're-you're kidding me, right? I had it easy? I was programmed to literally fight villains all the time; you try saving the world every single day and not being able to actually live a normal life like everyone else-"
"You can't have a normal life, Jenny! You probably won't ever have a normal life anymore. Did you ever think that there are some things that aren't meant to happen? Why robots aren't SUPPOSED to be sentient or desire humanity?"
"I deserve the right to be human; why shouldn't I have that liberty to be a human-"
"You don't have liberties-"
"Why can't I-?"
"YOUR SOLE PURPOSE IS TO BE HUMANITY'S WEAPON-" Brad blurted out. Silence filled the room as Jenny balled up her fists. Brad could see Jenny's eyes well up and he turned away from her. "This shouldn't have happened."
"...Leave. Now." Jenny commented with a strained voice. Tucker's eyes popped up in shock as Brad's shoulders tightened up in anger. Sheldon looked at Tucker and he could see the confusion on the little boy's face.
"We're leaving now, Tucker," Brad said, noticing his brother hesitate, "Let's go".
"I'm not leaving! YOU can go home; I'm staying here!" Tucker said defiantly. He could see his brother's face turn red with frustration as Brad walked over and he gripped onto Tucker's arm, pulling him out the room.
"Let me go! You're not the boss of me! You're hurting me!" Tucker cried out in pain as Brad's grip grew tighter around his arm, making blood flow cease. Sheldon pushed Brad off of Tucker and Tucker ran behind Jenny for safety.
"Knock it off, Carbunkle," Sheldon growled to Brad, "Just leave. You're not welcome here". The veins in Brad's neck began to visibly pump out as he clenched his fists. He walked out of the room and slammed the down shut behind him.
"Are you okay?" Jenny asked Tucker. He slipped into her arms and she felt a wave of sadness flood over herself. In return, she hugged him back and her fingers combed through his black hair.
"I'm fine; thanks Sheldon" Tuck said, his face rising from Jenny's embrace. "I better go; he'll tattle on me to Mom and that won't be pretty. I'll see you guys later".
Tuck ran out of the workshop and he held open the door for not only the coroner, but for Mr. and Mrs. Moore and from what looked like to be a government official of sorts.
"Oh my God" the Moores cried out. Jenny rose from the floor and glanced at the Moores; she could see the tears well up from Mrs. Moore while Mr. Moore stood in shock.
"Mrs.-" Jenny began.
"Mama. Call me Mama, sweetheart" Abigal said sweetly. She pulled Jenny close to her and held her tight. Jenny felt Abigal's heart beat faster and the heat that radiated from her was an unfamiliar sensation. Abigal let go of Jenny and she looked at Jenny with tears in her eyes. Jenny smiled politely, but she noticed that Nora was helping Sheldon pack up his equipment; she looked strained, almost to the point where she looked irritated. Jenny tried to walk towards her, but Mr. Moore approached her quickly.
"Fleur-I mean, Jenny. We're planning to go out to go get you some clothing. You can bring Sheldon with you if you want to" Mr. Moore said quietly.
"Sure, that'd be great, Mr. Moore-"
"Please, call me Lee" Mr. Moore stated, extending his hand towards Jenny.
"Sure, Lee" Jenny said, shaking his hand sincerely. She noticed that Sheldon was about to leave the workshop with backpack in hand.
"Sheldon?" Jenny called out to him. Sheldon stopped suddenly and he looked back at her. "Sheldon, do you want to come with me and the Moores to the mall?"
Sheldon felt a wave of excitement flow throughout his body as goosebumps fled up his arms. He looked up at her.
"I'd love to. Let me change into clean clothes and I'll be ready" Sheldon replied, his confidence rising up once more. She smiled at him and Jenny followed the Moores out of the workshop. Abigal began to zip up her jacket as Lee tucked his hands into his pockets. Jenny ran up the stairs to her old room, feeling her feet tingle with every step she took. She opened the door to her room and Jenny noticed an outfit laid out on her bed. There was a pair of black pants, a mid-sleeve blue blouse, and a pair of black flats with metallic crescent moons sewn in the shoes. Jenny unbuttoned the pants, her legs sliding through the pant legs, and she pulled up her pants. She buttoned her pants and Jenny threw the blouse over her head and pulled it over her chest. Jenny planted herself in her flats, but she felt a small gust of wind travel in her room.
"So this is what being cold is like" Jenny thought to herself as she saw the goosebumps rise up on her arms. She rubbed her arms to warm herself as she looked around in her room. In the corner of her room, a worn-out, red jacket sat on a chair next to a small purse Nora once gave her. Jenny walked over to the chair and she opened the jacket, her arms swimming through the sleeves as Jenny wrapped herself in the coat. The coat had a faint scent of pine that surrounded Jenny's senses.
"The jacket smells...good. This is Sheldon's scent, isn't it?" she thought to herself. Jenny zipped up the coat and she headed down the stairs with purse in hand. Sheldon waited patiently for her at the bottom of the stairs and he noticed his coat on her.
"She's wearing my jacket! I didn't think she'd actually keep it. It looks really good on her" Sheldon thought suggestively, but he immediately snapped out of it when she arrived on the last step of the staircase.
"Are you feeling cold?" Sheldon asked, trying to not fluster .
"Just a little bit; I'm getting used to knowing what being cold's like" Jenny said with a smile. He chuckled at her statement and Sheldon opened the door for the Moores and Jenny. As they exited outwards, Nora saw Jenny off as Abigal opened the car door of a hybrid car. Jenny peered from the car window and she saw Nora standing at the center of the door. Nora mouthed, "I love you" to Jenny, which made Jenny start to well up.
"Why am I crying? I'll come back to her" Jenny thought. She waved to Nora and Jenny buckled herself into the seat. Sheldon entered in the other side of the car and he shifted himself in his seat.
"You ready for this?" Sheldon asked Jenny.
"Ready than I'll ever be" Jenny responded nervously. The engine in the car revved up as Lee put the car into drive. Jenny looked back one last time and she saw that Nora was not at the door. Sheldon noticed this and he gently tapped her shoulder. She turned towards him and he gave her a reassuring smile. Jenny smiled back in response as she faced the back of the front passenger seat and the car drove off to the mall.
Tremorton Shopping Plaza
Lee parked the car in the middle of a parking lot at the plaza. Jenny, Sheldon, and the Moores exited out of the car, locking the doors behind them. As they entered the mall, Jenny began to feel nervous. She stood by Sheldon instinctively as Lee put away his communication device.
"Alright, I'm going to presume that you've been here before" Lee said. "Are there any stores that you like?"
"Well, the only things that I've actually been to here is the electronics store and the food court with Sheldon and Brad" Jenny said with embarrassment. Abigal noticed Jenny blush and she rushed over to her side.
"It's okay, sweetheart! We'll check out everything! Won't we, Lee?" Abigal enlightened with a smile. She adjusted her purse straps on her shoulders and Abigal smiled excitedly.
"Um, Mama?"
"Yes, sweetheart?"
"Do I have a budget? I mean, I don't think I'll spend more than fifty-dollars today if I stay in a budget-"
"You can select anything that you want, Jenny. There's no worrying about a budget here" Lee interrupted. He handed Jenny a metallic-gold card, which shined in the light. "This is yours now".
Jenny observed the card and she noticed that her name was on it. Jenny Moore.
"Jenny Moore. That sort of rings right, doesn't it?" Jenny thought to herself.
"Thank you, Lee," Jenny said, "I really appreciate it".
"Anytime. Go have fun. I'll be in the food court" Lee responded to her. He grabbed his stomach to emphasize his hunger, which made Jenny chuckle in response. Lee began to walk to the food court while Abigal was pulling something out of her purse.
"I have something for you," Abigal said, as she was pulling out a communication device out of her purse. "This is yours; I'm under the contact "Mama" on your new device. I'll be looking for some stuff for your room today; let me know if you need anything!" Jenny nodded in response as Abigal began walking off somewhere in the plaza. She turned around and waved excitedly to Jenny. Jenny waved back and she turned her attention onto Sheldon.
"I don't know if I can do this-" Jenny said.
"Jenny, it's okay; you're allowed to be nervous about this. This is the first time you get to do what other girls get to do; the fact that you have no budget to choose whatever you want makes this perfect for you" Sheldon said reassuringly.
"...Will you help me pick out a few things?" Jenny asked.
"Sure, I guess. I don't have the best fashion sense, but I'll be there to support you" Sheldon answered confidently. Jenny grinned at him, which made Sheldon blush a bit. Suddenly, she burrowed herself into his arms, holding him tightly. Sheldon was in shock as her head rested on his chest and he ended up holding her back.
He heard her muffle "Thank you, Sheldon" in his chest.
"For what?" Sheldon said.
"For giving me a chance at life. It's all I ever wanted" Jenny said, looking up at him. His brown eyes had a mesmerizing gaze upon her own blue eyes, but she broke away from the hug, blushing madly.
"You're welcome" Sheldon commented, trying to relax himself. They began to walk around the mall, looking for a boutique to begin at. From the corner of her eye, Jenny saw a store front with minimal lighting in the boutique. Aeonian.
"Isn't that the store Brittany and Tiff shop at?" Jenny asked with curiosity. Sheldon nodded and semi-cringed at the store. She looked at him with the look of "Let's check it out" and he grimaced in response, but he lead her into the store. There were a few select racks of clothes as the rest of the store had expensive-looking love seats and a DJ in the middle of the boutique. The music played loudly as Jenny and Sheldon browsed the clothing racks.
"I think I may be a size medium or a large, depending on the make of the top," Jenny said aloud. "As far as pants go, we'll have to figure it out in a bit".
"Okay, sounds like a plan" Sheldon answered back. He went off to a different part of the store while Jenny ventured towards the shoe section. Heels, flats, and other shoe styles lined the shelving units and her eyes traveled to each box. She pulled a box from the shelf and placed it besides her on a bench. She took off the flats she had on earlier and checked the size on the flats.
"So I'm a size 7 shoe. That helps" Jenny thought to herself. She opened up the shoe box and brought out a pair of black heels from the box. Jenny slid her feet inside the heels and she rose from the bench.
"Oh, this feels odd. Are my toes supposed to feel squished from wearing these?" she thought. A minute or so later, Sheldon came around the shoe section, his arms covered in clothes. He placed the clothes down on a bench as he noticed Jenny taking a few steps around the area. However, she nearly lost her balance with her footing and Sheldon darted after her. He caught her, holding her up like a marionette that lost its strings.
"Easy now, you've never worn heels before" Sheldon said, helping Jenny get on her feet once more. She walked over to the bench and Jenny pulled the heels off her feet.
"Maybe I'll just stick to flat shoes for now" Jenny said. She put the heels back into the shoe box and put away the box. Sheldon acknowledged the pile of clothes on the bench and he beckoned for a worker to come over.
"Hey guys! Ready to try on some stuff?" the worker asked pleasantly.
"I'm ready, thank you!" Jenny replied, raising her eyebrows at Sheldon. He laughed at her expression as he retired to a bench nearby the dressing room.
"Alrighty, I have a limit of 10 in one dressing room, if that's okay?" the worker informed Jenny. Jenny picked out 2 outfits and some random shirts from the pile of clothes. The worker began to pick up some of the clothes, but Jenny intervened and she took half of the clothes.
"Oh you didn't have to do that-" the worker began.
"I know; I figured that I might as well help you carry a few of these" Jenny said. She smiled at the worker, who was stunned by Jenny's offer. They walked into the dressing room area and the worker unlocked the door.
"If you need anything, please let me know" the worker said with a smile.
"I will, thank you" Jenny replied. She closed the door and locked it behind her. Jenny's eyes peered over at the pile of the clothes and sighed to herself.
"Alright, let's do this" she thought to herself. As she tried on outfits in the dressing room, Sheldon shrank in his seat, feeling out of place.
"Who'd ever thought I'd be in this place? Only Somebodys go in here" he thought. Sheldon fiddled with his thumbs as he waited patiently for Jenny to try on clothes. However, he heard footsteps that clicked on the tile floor of the store. From the sound of the clicks, it only meant one thing: Brit and Tiff. The hair on his arms stood up as Sheldon heard the footsteps get closer towards him.
"Well, well. Look what we have here" a voice called out.
"To think, we didn't know that you were into girls clothing; are you trying to tell us something, Sheldon?" another voice called out.
Sheldon stood up immediately as he saw Brit and Tiff, their arms covered in expensive clothing. He gulped, thinking of what to say.
"I-I'm holding onto some clothes for someone" Sheldon replied, trying to keep his stance stable.
"Oh really, who?" Brit replied, observing his strained facial reaction.
"Sir, your girlfriend's got an outifit; she's coming out to show you" the worker called out from the fitting room.
"GIRLFRIEND?!" Brit and Tiff yelped out in shock.
"Girlfriend?!" Sheldon thought to himself. The idea wasn't exactly a bad one in particular; if anything, it was something that he could never imagine happen to him. "Since the experiment, perhaps I can finally-".
"Sheldon?" a sweet voice rang outside of his own mind. Sheldon quickly snapped out of it and he turned to see Jenny. Jenny was dressed in a calico-blue dress with a white collar, accompanied with white flats. The blue hue of the dress brought out the blue and green in her eyes and Sheldon was speechless.
"What do you think?" Jenny asked, waiting for an answer.
Brit and Tiff noticed Sheldon in awe at the sight of her and they took this to their advantage.
"You look simply divine. So tell me, Sheldon; who is this?"
"This is- this is-"
"I'm Jennifer, Jennifer Moore. You can call me Jenny" Jenny replied, knowing how Brit and Tiff truly were like. "And you two are?"
Brit and Tiff smirked at Jenny, looking at her up and down.
"Jennifer Moore. Interesting. Are you related to Fleur Moore by chance? You look a lot like her, almost like twins," Brit said coyly. Jenny froze in panic and before she could say anything, Sheldon put his hand around her shoulder.
"She's Fleur's second-cousin. Why do you care?" Sheldon defended, squeezing her shoulder.
"Merely asking is all. Well, considering that you're not from Tremorton, I'll introduce myself. I am Brittany Crust and this is my cousin Tiff; we go to Tremorton High," Brit said in a affluent pitch. "Are you in town visiting Fleur?".
"I am. She's planning to switch to my school this fall while I go to Tremorton High to finish out school" Jenny said, becoming more confident.
"I see. So, what's your school's name? I just gotta know" Tiff asked.
"Lakemount High; it's about two hours out towards the west" Jenny answered, thanking her memory of the region. Sheldon's fingers moved slightly, causing Jenny to blush a bit from his touch.
"I hear Lakemount is quite the interesting school. They also have a good shopping plaza, too" Brit said, checking her invisible watch. "Oh, look at the time. Must be going now. I look forward to seeing you this fall" Brit said, dropping the clothes at Sheldon's feet. Tiff followed in suit as they left the store empty handed. Jenny immediately picked up the clothes and she gave them to a nearby coworker.
"They had a lot of nerve to do that to you," Jenny said, brushing off leftover fuzz and thread from Sheldon's pants. "Do you think they're going to catch on?"
"This is normal behavior from them, you know this. Honestly, I think the only one that might catch on would be Brit, but it'll take a while," Sheldon commented, "Did everything else fit okay?".
"Shockingly enough, everything was good. I'm still trying to get used to the idea of wearing underwear though" Jenny said laughing. Sheldon blushed and he turned away for a brief second.
"I-I don't know what to say about that" Sheldon said, laughing nervously at the comment. He couldn't help but look at her; she looked beautiful and lively and in that moment, he wanted to hold her close. However, Sheldon had to contain himself; he was still a gentleman after all.
"Hey sweetheart!" Abigal called out to Jenny. She came into the store with several shopping bags in her hands. "You look cute as a button!"
"Thanks, uh Mama. Sheldon picked it out for me" Jenny said awkwardly, shying away from Sheldon.
"You have such good taste, Sheldon. Did you find enough clothes, sweetheart?" Abigal proclaimed. Jenny nodded in response.
"They all fit really well, thank you. I'm gonna go change out of this really quick" Jenny stated, indicating the dress she was wearing. "I'll be right back". Jenny went back into the fitting room as Abigal grabbed a bag to put the remaining clothing pile in the bag. Sheldon noticed and he picked up the clothes for her.
"I can do this for you, Mrs. Moore," Sheldon said as he put the clothes inside the bag. He smiled at her as Abigal handed him the bag full of clothes.
"Thank you. How is she...faring?" Mrs. Moore asked.
"She's doing really good for only being alive for a few hours. One moment I looked away and here she comes back with four inch heels on, barely keeping her own balance" Sheldon said, laughing sincerely. He could see the underlying sadness in her eyes, but Sheldon didn't dare to ask about how she was taking everything. She smiled at him in response and Jenny was back in her normal clothes with clothes in hand. Sheldon took the clothes out of her hands and he placed them inside the bag. They all walked up to the register, where Jenny took the gold credit card out of her wallet. The cashier patiently waited as Jenny tried to figure out what to do after she got her card out.
"Jenny, hand it to her" Sheldon whispered in her ear. Goosebumps once again fled across her arms and she gave the card to the cashier. The transaction was finished and the group left the store promptly afterwards.
"Gosh, I feel awkward. I never had to buy anything before" Jenny confessed. Abigal chuckled as she wrapped her arm around Jenny.
"It's okay sweetheart; most people don't learn how to buy things until they're older anyway" Abigal assured her. Jenny gave Abigal a brief smile as they found Lee at a pretzel stand nearby. He saw them and walked over towards them. Lee gave Jenny a salted pretzel and they found a place to sit in the food court.
"So, how did everything go?" Lee asked sternly.
"Really well, thank you. I have the receipt for you if you want" Jenny said, offering him the receipt.
"Nah, you can keep it for now," Lee said, dismissing the subject of money, "You can start school as early as next week if you want. It's entirely up to you".
Jenny smiled at Lee. "Thank you, Lee".
"You're welcome".
