Ok. Here's the most climax-ish wow-ish omg-ish cliff hanger-ish part of the fanfic. Enjoy :)
Loki wasn't doing well nor was he doing that bad. Concentrating long enough to hold his many versions while controlling individually what they do while fighting off 3 frost giants were hard. Frost giants aren't that easy to kill especially with all their ice magic.
The frost giants fought off all the Loki decoys while the real him tried to stay out of sight. Whenever a decoy Loki got hit by any of the giants, they would fade in golden streaks of light, leaving the giant more agitated than ever.
"argh!" screamed one of the giants, hurling both of its fists on the ground. Ice spread through the ground, freezing and making all the decoy Lokis fade away. The real Loki tried to jump but the ice was too quick and it covered both of his feet and climbed up too his lower leg. Being a frost giant himself, the cold to him was nothing but it still hurt and he's not a master at controlling ice since he preferred using the magic his mom taught him.
But that kind of magic required deep focus, something Loki didn't have right now. He was scared and panic was setting in. He tried to pull his legs out but to no avail. The frost giants walked towards him and with one hand, one of them grabbed him by his neck, pulled him out, and pinned him against the wall.
Loki could feel the cold spreading through his body, right down to his very bones. He grit his teeth and tried held on to the hand that was choking him. If he won't do anything quick, he could choke to death.
"What are you? God or Frost giant?" One of them- Loki didn't have the strength to care which- asked.
"God" Loki gasped "And you will all kneel before me."
He summoned all of his energy and pain and suffering into one power surge. All of those feelings of loss and pain and sadness. Everything he felt about losing his brother and family and everything he thought when he was falling through space. He took out all of his feelings of regret and all of his feelings for Layka. Layka- someone perfectly innocent and happy is damned to knowing about her true self and losing everything she has just like how Loki has lost everything he had. He poured in all of his determination to save her from her fate and poured everything into one last surge and let out his very best.
Shards of ice shot from him and hit the walls and the three frost giants. The three of them stumbled backwards with the shards of ice protruding from their bodies before they collapsed with great thuds.
Loki landed on the cold floor, coughing and gasping for air. He's done it. It's all over.
"Loki!"
Loki looked up to find Layka and a few guards trailing behind her. Oh no.
"It's fine, no need to call a mission to their realm or anything." Loki coughed, standing up. "I defeated them."
In his blurry vision, he could see Layka smiling at him. Loki slowly walked towards them because of the icy ground and he might slip. This fight must have caused a lot of damage Loki thought as he walked towards the group.
But that's okay. At least I saved her. Well at least not yet. I still need to convince Thore not to go to their realm or at least convince Layka not to tag along with them. Then after that I hope Layka won't learn about her true self though her icy powers could come in handy. My frost giant powers did come in handy today. It's the first time I've used them. They're so powerful. I killed frost giants with their own magic. That's like killing fishes with water. I though frost giants were immune to ice…
And that's when everything turned for the worse.
Loki's smile disappeared. Those frost giants weren't dead. They can't be. Then everything after happened in slow motion.
He felt a sharp pain on his lower back and he saw Layka and Noelle's expression turn from rejoice to absolute horror and she screamed. He touched his back to feel an icicle halfway through his body. He felt sick. He wanted to throw up. There was an icicle right there and it was most likely going to kill him.
Noelle ran out of the room, out to find help while Layka ordered her men to attack and they ran for the frost giants behind him.
He could hear the sound of metal against ice but he couldn't turn. He was already feeling stiff.
The icicle was, as you see, laced with frost magic. It freezes your whole system frozen in a matter of minutes. Even though Loki's immune to ice, he could still surely die. He couldn't even feel his hands anymore.
He began falling forward when Layka caught him in a hug. She felt warm and she buried her face in his neck.
"Oh no… oh no… is there blood? I don't know how to…"
He felt her shaky hand remove the icicle and he heard it crash to the ground. He hissed in pain and wrapped his stiff arms around her. She shivered.
"You're so cold. Are you ok?" Layka's voice cracked. She obviously knew the answer.
Loki laughed. He could feel the frost creeping up his chest. "You tell me."
Layka laughed and held him closer, rocking him slowly back and forth. "I don't think this is the time to make jokes."
"come on,we're the gods of mischief!"
Layka slightly pulled away from him and looked at him with full concern and confusion. Her eyes were red.
"we?"
Loki opened his mouth to make an excuse when no sound came out and he collapsed on Layka's shoulder.
"okay there, Loke. Hang in there." She said, holding his hand "Helps on the way. Pinky promise me you'll get up again."
She snaked her pinky around his ice cold one and let a tear slip from her eyes. She was about to give up. She was an optimist but he was freezing to death- unless he had an incredible immune system specifically designed against ice. She was preparing herself when he felt his cold pinky rap around hers and in one cold breath, Loki's last words before he fell unconscious were
"I promise"
