Author's Note: Well I apologize for yet another long delay. Life got a little crazy for a while. This was a nice release though. Please enjoy this chapter though!

Chapter Eight: Lyrics

When she had told herself after the first day that all she had to do was survive until the weekend she didn't realize just how challenging that was going to be to her patience. Not a single day went by that Yukari didn't do something to aggravate her beyond belief. When she was growing up Akina had thought that she was blessed with a calm and patient attitude, but the red head was proving to be a true test of that theory. As every day passed Yukari made it more and more obvious that she didn't want to have the foster girl around her. The fact that most of her friends liked Akina so much seemed to only infuriate the girl. Not that Akina cared.

Today was finally Friday and Akina couldn't be happier for that. She had plans for the weekend. Calling Naria was almost at the top of her list but even that could be put off until she visited someone. This weekend would be the first time in months that she would have a chance to see Mamouru. Even though she hadn't physically gone to see him in the hospital she made sure that he was receiving the best of care. Although she also had a feeling that the Fanels were also doing what they could for the little boy, he was like another son to them after all.

All Akina had to do was make it through one more class period and then she was free. However, the class that she was in was going to make her want to cry. She knew that the Uchidas had arranged it with Gaea High that she would be placed in the same classes that Yukari was in, which meant that every Friday afternoon for two hours Akina was stuck in music class. It was a well-known fact that Yukari and her friend Millerna were major fans of the Abaharaki but Akina was tentative to find out if the girls could actually sing.

The teacher was droning on about various musical instruments and different vocal abilities. Akina had no desire to pay attention to what exactly it was that he was lecturing about. Her mind was focused on the lyrics that were continuously spinning through her brain. In order for there to be a comeback, there would need to be something worth recording.

"Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa
I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flags, don my clothes
It's a revolution, I suppose
We're painted red to fit right in
Whoa

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

All systems go; the sun hasn't died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive"

With her lyrics finally transcribed Akina finally heard what her teacher was saying. "I am hoping that I can arrange a trip to a local recording studio later this semester. That way all of you will be able to see what it is like to use professional equipment."

A meaningful sideways glance from the raven haired Fanel brother didn't go unnoticed by Akina. She just wasn't ready to explain everything to him just yet. Maybe once she talked to Naria she would be prepared to tell him everything. This just added one more thing that she needed to discuss with Naria; however she wasn't sure if she was ready to show herself. The sudden squealing and giggling that came from Millerna brought her out of her daze. Looking up at the projection screen she almost fell out of her chair when she saw the masked faces of five young teenagers.

"Now I do believe that most of you are fans of this band, the Abaharaki. Is there anyone that can correctly tell me the roles of each of the members?" Mr. Goten knew that some of his students weren't actually paying attention to his lecture. This was the test to see who took in the information.

Mr. Goten wasn't too surprised when he found that no one was able to volunteer to answer his question. Since that was the situation he was facing he decided to call on the one student that showed the least amount of interest in the last almost two hours.

When her name was called Akina just looked up at her teacher slowly. Even now she was still bored and disinterested, but she was somewhat willing to humor her teacher. "Pyro is the drummer. Stratego is the secondary bass. Violet is the chordal instruments. Dragon is the bass and secondary vocals. Emerald is the lead and songwriter."

There was a look of sheer shock on the faces of all but four people in the room. Akina wasn't even paying an ounce of attention and yet she went above and beyond what was expected. "Why…. Yes. That's absolutely correct. Good job Miss Hoshino."

Yukari couldn't hide her anger as she caught Van looking at Akina with a slight smile.

"Well on that note, class is dismissed! Have a great weekend."
